tabitha what you washing your fleece liners in?

I always add a splosh of white wine vinegar into the softener part of the drawer too.

Once a month I blast anything that will take it on 90 degrees.

wahay, have just booked my tickets for Frankie Boyle's tour October NEXT YEAR!at the Royal Centre Nottingham. Only went on sale this week and already the best seats are in the middle of the first balcony. I can't miss that, even if I have to leave Arthur in his pram outside being looked after by DD and DS1. He'll be fine with Coke in his bottle and several Gregg's sausage rolls .

johnworf · 04/08/2009 10:53

OOOH methinks I shall have to have a peek at those ermintrude

Might actually be allowed out by then

heron22 · 04/08/2009 10:58

morning all! a wet and grey day here today

bonzo my DS1 was like that too. he did not like his nappy changed cos i think he did not like his tummy being exposed to air. i think a tight swaddle will help. it used to be a real drama getting him changed! this phase will pass too!

have a good day everyone

my LO has got quite a few pimple like things on his back. has been there for quite a few days now. wonder if i should take him to gp to get them checked out? he has no temp. but has a bit of a blocked nose.

johnworf · 04/08/2009 11:04

Tickets purchased for November next year. Blackburn. Manchester was crappy seats only. Oh my goodness..a holiday and Frankie Boyle to look forward to.

I'm just thinking it could also be an early b'day present for DH. Oh joy!

Roll on 2010

hullo all

falling to bits we are, here . I spent most of yesterday in bed feeling sick, then DP arrived home with D from the nursery in the evening bawlimg his eyes out which he continued to do for hours. He then woke up this am with a raging temperature and so we are both at home today. He has been full of cold for ages and now it has gone on his chest. Feel like shit cos haven't been able to wash my hair and he wee man is wanting to be on my knee all the time so can't anyway.

express delivery of cake would be most appreciated!!!

Frankie Boyle - funny on Mock the Week but seems to substitute nastiness for comedy in stand up.

will try to catch up on posts and return in due course

johnworf · 04/08/2009 11:30

mrsb wondered where you'd got to. Sounds like you're having a crap time. How's D today? Is his chest still bad? What you thinking; cold type chest or infection? Can you both get in at the docs today?

It's hard enough having a sick baby when you're well yourself but crikey, bad news when you're under the weather too.

Sending not one, but 2 cakes your way If I had your address I'd send you a real one! Not that it'd help as you'd be prolly feeling better by the time it arrived....

Just told DH that I've got the tickets and he's excited. At least I'll have got him something he wants for his b'day.

OP posts:
mrsboogie · 04/08/2009 11:53

I am nearly better jw really and I think it just a cold cough rather than a chest infection D has as it is only really bad when he has been lying down. if temp continues will bring him to docs. my boss's baby who is at D's nursery had a similar thing last week and was poorly enough for them to think it was SF but I don't think it was. Took him to doctor's as he coughed for hours and had a high temp but there was nothing to be done except calpol.

I think I would take a shower over cake at this point!

johnworf · 04/08/2009 11:57

That's the kind of cough that K had about 3 weeks ago. She had no temp though just cough, cough, cough, especially when she lay down. The GP wouldn't give me anything as he said her chest sounded fine and that it would go away by itself after a few days. Which it did.

Sounds like it's something doing the rounds if others have had the same sort of thing.

Nip in the shower quick when he finally goes down

heron22 · 04/08/2009 13:33

mrsb sorry to hear you're not well and your LO one too sending you big hugs and a lovely cake chocolate cake with a hot cuppa !

my LO has got a real bunged up nose and the red spots on his back are still there. not getting worse but still there. no temp. so am not panicking or anything.

heron22 · 04/08/2009 13:35

ladies, i would really appreciate your opinion on this

am having difficulty choosing which hotel to choose.

first hotel has got great views, limited choice of food.

second hotel is in the heart of west end so no views to speak of. but great choices of food!

both have spa facilities that offer similar treatments.

which would you go for?

Tabitha8 · 04/08/2009 14:02

I'm using throw away liners at the moment. I'll persevere. I've a mixture of bamboo terry nappies and cotton Motherease. I wash the nappies in with my stuff. Is that a revolting thing to do? Hmm.

Heron, when you are eating that lovely food, you'll be pleased you decided that was more important than a view.

dawntigga · 04/08/2009 14:06

mrsb sorry to hear you aren't well - get well soon and have this virtual pile of chocolate

Everyone, Sam has a rash type thing across his eyes and around his mouth, anyone any ideas what it could be or how to get rid of it? I thought it might be due to the drool fest that is my son but how would that get on his eyes?

Nobody in either family suffers from food allergies but I have a true allergy to penecillin - no-one's had that either!

WantDS'sPerfectBabySkinBackTiggaxx

johnworf · 04/08/2009 14:35

tabitha the nappies have to be washed at minimum of 60 degrees and I'd use the white wine vinegar in your softener drawer as it's antibacterial.

It sounds as if you are not using a piece of fleece liner, under the disposable liner, to wick away the moisture from baby's bottom. If you're not using this then it could explain why LO has nappy rash. Have a look at the advice from the Nappy Lady.

heron I'd go in either. Who's bothered about views???? Food and spa rule anyday

dawn rash over his eye? Sorry, not sure if I read it right. Is it the side he sleeps on? Could be a sweat rash if so.

heron22 · 04/08/2009 14:36

thanks ladies for your feedback. yea, i agree food wins hands down! and spa!

will bring laptop with me so i can check in on this thread

dawntigga · 04/08/2009 15:13

jw it's like a bandit mask right across both eyes, not discounting the sweat rash idea though.

New thing he has 2 white lines where his front teeth will be - he's only 15 weeks and was 35+4 when born. Is he really teething?????

ToTiredToCopeWithTeethingTiggaxx

johnworf · 04/08/2009 15:20

dawn bit early for teething but don't discount it. No hard and fast rules for when they get them. Is he dribbling a lot?

It could be baby acne. I'm only guessing here. It's caused by exposure to mother's hormones. If you're worried though I'd get it checked out by GP just to be sure

Good choice heron

OP posts:
dawntigga · 04/08/2009 15:58

jw he is a drool monster and has started to bite down quite hard on fingers etc. I'm hoping it's a phase but I'm sure he's teething.

OhJoyMoreSleeplessNightsTiggaxx

ermintrude13 · 04/08/2009 16:20

dawntigga my poor baby gets a 'greasy T' as they used to say in Jackie mag - a load of spots esp on his forehead and round his nose. But not so specific as the rash you describe. My other DC got teeth around 16/17 weeks - DD's just appeared but DS really suffered and got all sorts of symptoms. Could be related but yes, check with GP anyway, can't do any harm.

mrsB so sorry you and D are poorly. . Here's a virtual shower and back rub .

I loved Frankie B on his stand-up DVD - rather like the cruelty of his humour and the psycopathic grin . JW I promise not to run any spoilers of the best jokes (if we're still talking in 2010).

Will try the white wine vinegar meself, sounds like fun

Tee2072 · 04/08/2009 16:37

And I'm back. And officially released from Antenatal Metabolic Team with a letter that says 'her numbers are still excellent 8 weeks post natal.' That's me, the poster child for diabetic pregnancy!!

heron I realize its too late, but go for the good food!

mrsb feel better soon! D also.

No idea dawn. Adam was born with 'stork marks' on both eyelids, and he gets blemishes a lot, but not on his eyes.

erm according to my MIL both DH and his sister's teeth just showed up one day, no muss no fuss. I am hoping its genetic!

jeanjeannie · 04/08/2009 16:51

MIL just gone - girls conked out - grrrr - dinner probably be served at 7pm at this rate!!

heron FOOD, FOOD, FOOD and bugger the views.

tab just what jw says re: nappies. Both my LOs rashed at disposable liners. I got bog-standard thin fleece and cut out liner shapes - they're the nuts! And my top tip is wash nappies either together or with towels and always chuck in some white wine vinegar. NEVER use conditioner on nappies (or towels I've since discovered) as it matts the fibres and means that the wee sits inside rather than absorbing - thus causing a damper nappy.

dawn ah - that sounds like teething; drools, wet chin, grumpy, bad bum and nasty poo. And, apparently LOs that teeth early generally go on to do everything else early!!

mrsB poor you - hope you got your shower. I shall commiserate with you with some virtual cake - by cough is hacking and chest is tight and sore.

tee yee ha for your release!

jw and erm blimey - I do like girls with one eye on the up-and-coming entertainment! NEXT YEAR!?! No wonder I couldn't get Dave Gorman tickets - I left it till 6 months in advance! COmedy - I tell you - it's rock'n'roll for us 40 somethings!

Off to cough, splutter and attempt to wake my knackered children. I'm expecting a riot.

ermintrude13 · 04/08/2009 17:12

jj surely you mean you predict a riot? some of us try to keep up with actual rock 'n roll as well as comedy and i believe such a song was in the hit parade last year

johnworf · 04/08/2009 17:26

lol @ ermintrude sounding like Jimmy Saville circa 1974

tee good luck on being released from the diabetic team grip. Woot!

JJ I wouldn't have known about Frankie Boyle if it hadn't been for ermintrude posting that she'd bought her tickets today. I tried Manchester and all the seats were rubbish so they're gonna sell out. We're off to sunny Blackburn to see him instead

Well, big decision taken today at Worf Towers; we're going to get shut of our (my) dog. He's too much with LO and plus, I think she's having allergic reactions to his fur. He had me up again this morning at 6am for food/wee. I wouldn't mind but K was still fast asleep!! Anyway, I think we'll be taking him to the Dogs Home tomorrow after I've phoned them
