erm that was indeed impressive! Fab news about the weight loss Edinburgh festival - go on, be a devil!

neddie gosh, what a difficult time. I imagine you not being able to move is a bit like a caged animal! FIngers crossed that the happy little duo arrive during your DP's time off and over here. HUGE hugs cares not a jot about MN protocol xxxx

tee having contracted a rare form of arthritis after Iris was born (temporary thank God) I did discover from the specialist that the first 9 months after giving birth makes any existing joint condition worse. Something to do with the same hormones that create the nightmare that is SPD.

duchesse how superb that he got there all by himself - he'll be puffed up and cock-a-hoop!

Well, had a fabulous, long conversation with the paediatrician who rang this afternoon. I won't bore you all senseless with the fine detail but apparently Iris is quite a different and indeed very social creature at nursery!!! She said she was quite amazed and feels that I was right about her speech being the biggest barrier to her development. Upshot is that she is chivving along the speech therapist which is great. She also thinks that Iris is definately swayed by having Verity about - in other words she is playing up to having a little one in the house.

Kids - Pah - who'd have 'em eh?!

jeanjeannie · 31/07/2009 20:54

LOL@ 'tins' Have visions of neddie popping out a duo of baked beans

tee your GP said so!!!?? Barking!

johnworf · 31/07/2009 20:58

JJ not surprised at all that Iris is a social creature. I'm sure the LO's play to the gallery when they're at home. Good as gold at school/nursery. It's not a surprise at all.

So it's all Verity's fault! LOL. Awwww

yeahhh.. tee thing is you are still in the "omigod pregnancy is vile I am so tired what are babies for?" phase which nature cunningly segues into "pregnancy? oh well, it is bad but it is sooo worth it" phase a few months later without you even noticing .

When D was A's age both me and DP would screamed NOOOOO! if anyone had suggested having another now he is all for it. Personally I HATE being pregnant and I would be worried about what might go wrong if we went for it again and we certainly can't afford to put another one in nursery but I would love D to have a sibling.

And I would LOVE to have a little girl...

johnworf · 31/07/2009 21:12

mrsb I'll send K over tomorrow with a note around her neck like Paddington. You can have her for the weekend. Call it a trial run

OP posts:
Tee2072 · 31/07/2009 21:17

The other issue for me having another one is that it took nearly 2 years to conceive A. So let's say we decide to have another one, in about a year. I'll be 41. If it takes 2 years to conceive? I'll be about 43 when its born. Granted, some of you have been, but I don't think any of you have my health issues; diabetes, arthritis, possible fibro, anxiety disorder, agoraphobia...

So 99% sure Adam will be an only.

jeanjeannie · 31/07/2009 21:30

jw darn - you pushy parent....I was just labelling up Iris and Verity to send to mrsB and there you go, shoving K to the front of the queue

tee I'm an only child. We ROCK Sadly not much chance of us appearing in one of erm's books....but hey, ho...it's a small price to pay for a life of blissful, non-sibling rivalry !!!!

mrsboogie · 31/07/2009 21:30

the health issues make a huge difference certainly.

it only took one single shag to conceive D (and similarly my first son and the pg I m/c before D) so I if I went for it I would want to be damn sure and ready, elderly though I would be.

jw that sounds like a great idea! D would love it and I can almost guarantee we are almost entirely disease free! apart from one dose of teething related snotters but I'm sure K would overlook that.

We also have TWO wooden spoons!

johnworf · 31/07/2009 22:31

mrsb it's a done deal then with the TWO SPOONS! Ah, share the love

OP posts:
Tee2072 · 01/08/2009 06:40

Morning all.

Well, A slept 7 hours again last night, it was just the wrong 7 hours as he fell asleep at 7:30 and slept until about 2:30. Need to get him to stay awake a bit longer! He was then up again at 5. Of course, it was my night off, so poor DH had to deal with it.

Today I am off to colour the grey and get this mop cut! YAYAYA!!!

LOL mrsb at the two spoons bribe!

johnworf · 01/08/2009 08:21

Is it morning? Not sure.

K up at 2.30am which I sorted out as DH was tone deaf. So I thought I'd be in for a lie in. Not so. DH got up at 7am with her and said he had a migraine So, here I am.

K has started the day on a good footing. She's thrown her b/fast all over the floor (normal) and is now wailing in her cot. I'll be blowed if I'm getting her. I know for a fact she's tired (aren't we all?)

Pouring with rain again here.

tee at least you know if you go to bed at 7.30pm you're in for a whole 7 hours worth of sleep

Lucky you going for hair colouring. Hope you enjoy your pampering

Not sure what to do with mine at the mo. I'm moving hairdressers anyway but I want to grow it too. I'm thinking I may leave it until I have more in the way of length to play about with a new style. Just have to endure the nightmare of grey roots and washed out colour inbetween.

DS#1 landing in an hour or so for some breakfast before he starts work. Hope I'm still awake enough for operate a toaster.

OP posts:
johnworf · 01/08/2009 08:21

*to operate a toaster

I can't be trusted to operate a keyboard today.

OP posts:
heron22 · 01/08/2009 09:08

jw ah DH and their migranes! my DH gets it too! you did not get enough sleep!

i too am growing my hair. i usually have long hair. and then when LO was about 3 months old i got sick of it and felt a change. so got hair chopped off short style. now i want long hair back so growing it!

tee at your hairdressers appointment! enjoy!

it is not pouring rain here but sky is so cloudy and not at all warm. oh where is the summer we were promised by the Met????

dont tell me it is going to be like this until nov and then we turn clock forward and then it is dark by 3pm! enough to make me go for stronger AD!

ermintrude13 · 01/08/2009 09:46

Ah, a classic Saturday in the hols - no football or tap lessons to get to; Arthur slept 10.30-3.15 and then 3.45-7.50 so I'm feeling very slightly refreshed, now he's just gone down again. DH is researching cars on the interweb, DS glued to the telly and the sounds of DD's piano practice are tinkling through the house. . It's the simple things... actually, I think I'm the simple thing these days .

Enjoy the sleb mags at the hairdresser's Tee.

Hope K has settled JW - you can tell their tired cries as they get older, but at the mo all of Arthur's cries (except for his slow build-up which sounds like a creaky door) sound like 'Help, this woman is murdering me, call the police', when in fact they can mean anything from I need to feed/burp/puke/poo to Right, I'm awake, someone pick me up NOW. They are short-lived though, the boy gets what he wants pretty quickly.

JJ I've just thought about only children in my books and haven't come up with any sociopaths as yet. The DH of the main character in my first is an only child and he's almost perfect .

Mrsb lol @ wooden spoons. When I stocked up on new camping equipment a couple of years ago I bought 5 of everything and told DH it was 'in case we lose/break a set' but knew in my heart of hearts it was because I really hoped there would be 5 of us at some point. He'd have thought I was a loon but buying 4 of everything seemed defeatist. OK, it is a bit loony .

awful rain here, might check out the beach in the market square since it's classic brit seaside weather . Have good days all.

BonzoDoodah · 01/08/2009 09:58

OOps at the tins typo ... sighing at late night typing .... not that it was ...I was just asleep on the settee at 9pm, bed at 10:30 .... boy feeding til midnight .... sigh... then awake again at 4 for well well over an hour and then up at 8 ...nowhere near a 4 hour sleep. Grrr.
I went to see a BF councilor yesterday and she gave me a new position to feed G that doesn't cause excruciating pain. Wonderful!!! I can BF on the left side now without psyching myself up to it. It is mad - put baby almost standing up between boobs and he (at 9 days old) launches himself sideways and onto the boob! Amazing. And it doesn't hurt! Get the flags out!!

Oh enjoy the beach erm. My mate in Notts is trying to get me to go over to paddle (bit far when a real beach is an hour away not two).

jj good news about the assessment. Always good to blame the sibling.

Tee don't bame you for not wanting another with all the medical issues you had/have. Enjoy the one baby you have and be grateful all went well.

dawntigga · 01/08/2009 10:22

tee I to am being told that I will want another one. I didn't 'want' the first one he was a happy accident. Children were never in my plan. I loathed being pregnant although I had a good preganancy apart from mild spd.

bonzo good to hear about the new position - it's amazing what the little blighters can do!

We have a cold in the house at the moment. Current temps are slightly elevated so of course dp thinks we have H1N1 (I bloody hate calling it swine flu), we don't! Nobody has a temp anywhere near 38 degrees!

DS is, however, feeding every 30 minutes and I'm longing for the every 2 hours I use to have!

StillSmilingAtTheTinsTiggaxx

jeanjeannie · 01/08/2009 11:11

Morning all. Got lots of sleep but then again I was out for the count at 9.45! Still feel yeuch though. Rain, rain, rain....grrrrrr...

jw heron I too have a hair dilema. Hate it - way too short but cut it to get rid of the dry old ends. Think my next will be just a trim as bobbed hair makes me look like a guinea pig or a hamster... tee enjoy the hairdressers - that counts as pampering in my books!

bonzo ah, it's fab finding a new position and there being no pain. I found that I had to do that a few times - every now and then when things got a bit sore.

erm good to hear the only ones are near perfect Your Sat sounds like a blissful Waltons-style day indoors!

Right - off to Costco. Why don't they have an IKEA in Reading - then I could have meatballs! So, we're getting a lemon drizzle, a ginger cake and possibly some choccy croissants....Oh somebody STOP me

dawntigga · 01/08/2009 12:58

jj go right ahead and add a bucket of cookies to your order

DevilishTiggaxx

Tee2072 · 01/08/2009 13:25

Ahh, short hair, no grey, bit of red...I'm me again!!

And I was wrong about A sleeping 7 hours. He actually woke up just before 11 and didn't go back down to about 1145 and then up again at 2. But I wouldn't know this as DH was in charge and I was asleep!!

JW I hope DH's migraine is better. I get them myself and they suck!

Enjoy the beach erm. I find the idea of a beach in a market square very odd...but then again I grew up by the sea!!

bonzo glad you found a comfortable position for feeding!

JJ see, now there's another good reason to have another baby...someone for the first baby to blame stuff on!!

johnworf · 01/08/2009 14:49

tee new hair sounds fab. Just the ticket for an instant pick-u-up

My hair today is so greasy I cannot go out and shouldn't go out as I'd scare children and small animals. However, needed to pick up piece of beef and I looked like a greasy haired troll.

Have visions of JJ ram raiding the cake section of Costco I'm sworn off cake now and had to ditch both ends of the lemon drizzle cake from Costco as it was full of hardened liquidfied sugar. Not good at all. I'm back on my 3 a day pills now and staying with it.

Wonder how hedgepig's holiday is going? Hope she is somewhere abroad and not sat under an umbrella in a muddy field.

mrsb where are you hiding today?

dawntigga stay indoors, play board games, eat lots of wholesome warm stuff and drink plenty of fluids. I'm sure the sniffles will blow over soon enough

DH's migraine miraculously cleared up around 10am when he came tripping down the stairs. I feel frayed around the edges today. I know I'll be in bed not long after the children go up.

I am tumble dryer-less today. The plastic catch has gone on mine so been ringing round this afternoon to try and find one. Did find one but seems that electrical spares shops close at 2pm on a Saturday (why 2pm I ask myself?) Anyhoo, a short drive on Monday morning will sort it...until then....have to make do with the maiden.

We are SANS cake. We resisted - we just said NO! Infact we were supremely controlled - only a multi-pack of jacobs crackers and lashings of goats cheese(love that stuff) by way of a treat! Even resisted the cashmere cardis.

LOL@jw having greasy hair and needing to pick up a piece of beef. Can't quite decide if that should be a line from Corrie or an Alan Bennett play !

tee glad to hear your hair is all present and correct and just as you like it

My good friend rang me today absolutely cock-a-hoop as her DS's b'day card was on Cbeebies Ah, she's thrown down the gauntlet now - am feeling I should get prepared for Iris's in Nov!

Have a chicken and lashings of salad for dinner although I'm really, really fancing a glass of red wine.

johnworf · 01/08/2009 17:11

Well done on the self restraint JJ. Mightily impressed.

OOOH can I have that as my claim to fame that a friend of a friend got a card on Cbeebies? I'm gonna put it on my CV before I forget

I'm def more Alan Bennett than Corrie. Given up watching soaps....pretty much given up on telly full stop. I've started reading (again) The Outsider which I've had over a year now. I've got quite into it this time. Keeps me off the streets I need to get back into reading instead of slobbing in front of the box watching tripe.

Oh my effing gawd JJ !!!! CHICKEN. RED WINE? Hellllooooo...methinks you need a few lessons duncha?

OP posts:
mrsboogie · 01/08/2009 17:49

hello all

have been prone on the sofa all day - suffering from an ailment which periodically afflicts me. Its summat to do with my ears and I get all dizzy and seasick and can't walk around without staggering like a drunken sailor. I am very annoyed at it happening at the weekend and spoiling my plans.

in other news we have a most unsavoury crew of chavvy kids moved in across the road the other day, they live with the windows wide open and sit and stand in the windows drinking, smoking spliffs and yelling at the tops of their voices and listening to loud jungle or garage or similar thudding nonsense. They all look about 16 so no idea how rent is being paid for, I am anticipating frequent visits from the police...

younger sis has announced she is engaged - no date yet as he is not yet divorced. Prolly to be in Italy.

ermintrude am v of you going to Edinburgh festival although unsure how you are going to go about actually seeing things? are you bringing a babysitter? I think I would fancy the Sylvia Plath thing although maybe not.

jw forgot to say good news on K not needing the op yet. The longer they put it off the better! Is there any possibility now of it ever closing on its own accord?

right.. must see if I can remain upright long enough to make a moussaka...

johnworf · 01/08/2009 18:31

mrsb you sound like you have one of the ailments that my DH suffers from. He's been to see a consultant neurologist who has given him a 'script for some anti-dizzy/nausea pills. They do work.

Your neighbours sound...hmm.....different

I asked the OAP who did her appointment on Friday, you know, the Shreddies-knitted-by-nanas woman...and she said there was a very small chance it could close by itself but it was still a moderate size opening. I think that's doctor lingo for highly unlikely. Still, where's there's hope then I'm hoping

Congrats to your sis. Hope he legally gets rid of one before he gets another (gosh, he's a brave man !) Still, if in Italy, you get a nice break somewhere scenic and hot

Just waiting on curry. I'm having a dry chicken starter with no actual curry involved. Fabulous

hi all! LO decided he will only talk feed from me and no one else!

any of your LOs doing this?

so this evening, DH is determined that LO will take a feed from him. it is a battle of wills at the moment.

LO will refuse. DH will leave the room and go back 10-15 mins later. it has been about 50 mins now since this all started. LO has only taken about 100mls so far.

we are doing this because i need a break sometimes from feeding him!

it is breaking my heart tho listening to LO crying and not wanting to take feed.

any suggestions please?
