Awww, jw bless your DSS - that's actually very sweet. I think it shows that there is more chance of him being in a caring profession rather than him hacking into the US government computer system...ala Aspergers man who is to be extradited to US!

I have no idea what goes on in there. I think that's because she often rambles incoherantly - and if we could understand then maybe it would be clearer. Yesterday she looked at me and said "you're pink and you know it"......

I don't think Verity helps. Not nastily but Iris immitates a lot rather than take the lead - so she acts like a baby - hence the use of fingers at dinner time. I think/hope/pray once Verity gets the hang of this talking malarky then it will help Iris too.

Oh isn't it 5pm yet? Today is crawling on its knees

johnworf · 31/07/2009 15:58

JJ I love the pink comment!

I said to DSS y'day morning 'it's thundering you know? Can you hear it?' He was playing on his xbox at the time. So he said 'no, couldn't hear it but I'll turn the sound down and listen'. Anyhoo, I'm in the bathroom next to his bedroom and hear him say to himself 'it's thundering you know. Shall we have a lsiten? Can you hear anything?' He often has these kinds of conversations with himself, especially when he's on the xbox...usually a running commentary of what he's doing in the game. Don't think it's an imaginary friend. Think he just likes talking to himself. His father does exactly the same in the shower

Btw he imitates most of the time too. Never takes the lead in anything unless it's pulling his father up on various forms of etiquette (which is the obsession du jour). If Iris gets the AS diagnosis then I expect you'll see a lot of what I've described as she gets older.

Also he is very unlike Katherine. She'd rather bash you in the face with a wooden spoon and laugh her socks off. She's a real rough, tough one that girl. I can see her going into anything all guns blazing. Maybe Verity will be the same. Almost like the older child's bouncer!

It's like living with The Munsters sometimes.

Has anyone seen this strange tale of Jude Law fathering a secret love child? Not sure if it was anything to do with love and more of a drunken xmas shag.....bizarre.

See Kate Garraway had a little boy. Ahh. Apparently looks like her and not her DH. Good thing really...talk about let himself go. Sheesh!

good God injections! i forgot about them!
bonzo am tempted to go tbh.

but injections! for the LO too!

really need to think about this!

Neddie · 31/07/2009 17:14

Hi all
Quick post as I swell up when I'm sitting down.
Had injection for lungs all seems ok -next scan Thursday. They did a fiber test thingy last Saturday and it looked like no labour for 2 weeks- which means that I should hold on till the 8th August at least which is when DP is here for 10 weeks. As long as the fluids are holding in there with little lad we should make it -we are at 2 small pools of 33mm compared with little girl at 58mm pools. I am 33 weeks plus 1 day according to scans.
Thanks for your messages of concern and sorry i can't do witty banter or comments on posts as I am barely a movable object....will be back to normal soon?
Love from Neddie XXX (oh I think that's non-MN practice but what the heck..)

dawntigga · 31/07/2009 17:55

Neddie thinking of you and to hell with mn practice!

I love your signoffs Tigga! Very idiosyncratic.

Just wanted to say how relieved I am to report that our local wonderful mechanics say that they think the car is OK. They have drained it again, and got it working, so think the mechanics in Bracknell didn't do it properly yesterday. They've told us to fill it with diesel and run it over the weekend, and they'll have another look at it when it goes in for its routine service on Monday. So blody relieved I can't begin to express it- worst case scenario was anything up to £7000 to have the engine rebored, which would have meant my having to go back out to work at the end of September.

johnworf · 31/07/2009 18:17

duchesse PHEW! Great news

neddie pleased to hear that the twins are hanging in there. Long may they do so

Oh, and Big Boy's trip went swimmingly, he arrived bang on time and texted first thing this morning. He also texted from Toronto last night to say that he was drinking an enormous frappé while waiting for his connecting flight at what must have been midnight for him- determined not to go to sleep on the flight so that he would slip into LA time as quickly as possible. He even had to collect his luggage, clear customs, exit arrivals at Toronto and check back in for his connecting flight and he did it all by himself... When I think that we were still washing him in the bathroom sink this time 16 years ago... He's so grown up!

Tee2072 · 31/07/2009 18:20

Just a quick hello after a long exhausting afternoon. Need to get dinner on the table.

But could someone, anyone, with grown up children, please reassure me that they do eventually learn to be able to entertain themselves? Even for 30 minutes? Before they start school?!?!?

johnworf · 31/07/2009 18:29

awwwwww duchesse. It's amazing isn't it how they grow up...bugger off and leave you I find it really hard to think that my older 3 are all independent of me now. Which brings me round to tee....

......yes, they do finally entertain themselves although DSS is haunting both myself and DH and he's bored. It's not over until they find entertainment elsewhere...that usually means can look old enough to get served in a pub.

OP posts:
duchesse · 31/07/2009 18:30

Depends on the child Tee. My oldest is still a bit prone to not being able to keep himself busy, hence the trip to the States for the next three weeks. Couldn't face him not being busy through August. The girls are and were fine from about 2, and most people's children seem to be able to keep themselves busy a lot of the time by age 3 or so.

johnworf · 31/07/2009 18:40

I also think it makes a difference if you have one child or more. More than one tend to play (or fight) with each other. When DSS was our 'only' child he expected to be entertained by us.

Tee2072 · 31/07/2009 18:42

JW well there's a good argument for having another. Best one I've heard so far!!

heron22 · 31/07/2009 18:57

it is that time of the day again. when LOs are tired and fighting sleep!
i am trying not to get this heart pain when i hear LO crying

how do you deal with it? i know there is nothing wrong with him. he is just fighting sleep.

heron22 · 31/07/2009 18:58

neddie thinking of you and your twins. great to hear that they are hanging in there

heron22 · 31/07/2009 18:58

tee thinking of having another one ?

Tee2072 · 31/07/2009 19:13

Actually heron leaning very much in not having any more. DH and I are both leaning that way.

johnworf · 31/07/2009 19:49

Sorry tee your last comment made me chuckle. I'm not being horrid, honest. Funny thing is, your memory forgets all of these early month/years times. I can barely remember my older 3 when they were tiny or little.

It's mother nature's way of making sure you have more than one imho.

OP posts:
ermintrude13 · 31/07/2009 20:15

oh dear, i'm so behind. here goes:

I love fig rolls too; Oh no about the petrol car but hurrah it might be ok; DH wants us all to go up for Edinburgh for the festival end August and I'm dithering about that so don't ask me about Mumbai; Hope little boy twin's fluids keep up until his daddy is in the UK; Glad gas leak was nothing serious; Our DD was a lovely 'easy' baby but no way could I contemplate ttc again until she was well over 2; Why doesn't it stop bloody raining?

Will be back tomorrow/later to try better catch-up but am now off to have a line of Fruit and Nut to help my brain work .

Oh, and I keep losing weight without trying - I blew this b/feeding benefit last two times by doubling my intake of calories but this time I'm eating normally with the odd glass of wine/fistful of chocolate and it's still coming off. Sorry. But it's been a long time coming and won't last forever .

Tee2072 · 31/07/2009 20:30

Whew erm that was impressive!!

Everyone keeps saying that I will forget and want another one, but I have yet to forget how horrid I felt for 99% of the pregnancy and being exhausted is just making my arthritis worse, and that's not going to change. If anything, my arthritis, which might be fibromyalgia, is getting worse.

johnworf · 31/07/2009 20:34

Oh bloody hell tee. I'm not sure what fibro thingy is but it sounds painful I think there's a few ailments that pregnancy makes worse (although some that it makes better too).

I don't blame you and as always it's down to personal choice. I have lots of friends who have chosen to stop at one for various reasons.

Well done ermintrude on the synopsis. Good to hear you're shedding the weight between handfuls of choccie You're a brave lady to travel with a tiny one but I guess I'm a wuss when it comes to that sort of thing.

BonzoDoodah · 31/07/2009 20:35

neddie good luck with the tins - glad they're holding in there!

Duchesse PHEW about the car and good on your son getting across the globe ok. Sounds like a great adventure.

jw glad the consultant says wait - v good news!

ermintrude super at the weight loss. I've said I'll eat what I like (within reason) for a month and then try and get this BF do do some weight loss for me -unlike last time too. And this is definately my last sprog so last chance for the slimming boobs effect!

johnworf · 31/07/2009 20:36

bonzo love the typo. I know it wasn't meant but is making me smile

OP posts:
Tee2072 · 31/07/2009 20:46

I am missing this amusing typo...

Sorry if I went off a bit there, everyone. Its just seems that the whole world is so sure I have to have another one and I'll want another on and blah blah blah...even my GP said so!!

johnworf · 31/07/2009 20:49

tee bonzo wished Neddie good luck with her 'tins'

Your GP sounds v insensitive saying things like that to you. None of their business anyway. Come to think of it, no ones business but yours so tell them to mind their own

Tell people you couldn't possibly follow up the perfection that is Adam
