jw thanks for the link to dailymail. so much gossip! love it

Tee2072 · 26/07/2009 09:52

I do hope that is the Daily Mails usual shoddy reporting JW. But that's exactly the kind of thing rags get right.

Then again, the Belfast Telegraph has this article which starts out about NI's youngest suffer end segues into being about Footie.

The whole thing is out of control with the mis-information etc etc etc.

iris66 · 26/07/2009 11:25

Hi all

Tee - that "it's just a phase" mantra gets plenty of use in this house! N slept pretty much all of yesterday and was then up 10-2.30 feed/wind/change/feed/wind/feed/wind etc etc I feel like shit on a stick but, no matter - the world still turns (I think)

Heron - pleased for you that DH is back (hopefully he'll feel suitably guilt-ridden and give you a break!) Hope the cupcake making goes well - nothing like a bit of kitchen trashing with children to ease the tension (we did biscuits yesterday)

jw - I've given up worrying about SF - the media hype seems to be stirring so much panic that people will soon be keeling over like sheep just at the mention of it!

hedgepig - hope your bum isn't too bruised and that you were happy with your time

bonzo - any sign of you getting home yet?

herbaceous - how's it going? are you feeling a bit more human yet?

I've finally got the hang of proper freehanded feeding with my sling (yay! so glad I got a new one!) and so can do much more now I can wear her properly (and she's safe from drowning in the boys' drool!) - very happy bunny.

Off to finish off lunch whilst the boys play chicken with the lawnmower... happy days

lingu · 26/07/2009 12:00

Hi everyone! Just joined - I am 43 tomorrow and 8 weeks pregnant with my 3rd child. I need some reassurance though - I ate some pate last night at a friends house - please tell me it will be ok - feel so guilty now!! arg why didnt I think! I hate these first 12 weeks especially - as it seems like you cant do anything for fear of harming the child in some way - help! thanks all

heron22 · 26/07/2009 12:39

iris yes i used that phrase a lot too!

about those cupcakes, DS1 lost interest the minute i told him we couldnt make chocolate ones cos we got no chocolates in the house. and i said how about lets go to shop and get some? he said he is too tired! from what i dont know!!! so he decided to paint instead. just as messy and nothing to munch on in the end!

herb hi, have not heard from u in ages? how are you? LO?

bonzo hope you get out of jail today!

lingu CONGRATS on your pregnancy! yes, it is a worry that first 12 weeks! not sure why cant eat pate. something to do with food poisoning i think. but since ur ok...
welcome to the thread! this thread moves very fast!

johnworf · 26/07/2009 12:41

Welcome lingu. Are you related to pingu?

Really wouldn't worry about the pate. I doubt very, very, much that it will do any harm. Crikey, ermintrude, one of the dear ladies on this thread, went out of her way to eat stinking cheese when she was pregnant, didn't you dear? Babies are hardy creatures even at 8 weeks.

Wonder how hedgepig is getting on?

Tee2072 · 26/07/2009 12:48

Hello lingu! The issue with pate is the vitamin A in the liver. One helping won't hurt anything, I am sure. Just don't have any more!!

A has decided that an hour is about the right amount of time to eat 120 ml of formula! No wonder I can't get anything done!

iris which sling do you have? I am still waiting for a delivery from Freedom Slings and still not sure if I should raise a dispute with PayPal or just wait and see if it ever gets here. I posted about the company here on MN and was told to give the owner a break since its a small cottage industry business and she has 12 kids!! At least it wasn't a ton of money...

johnworf · 26/07/2009 13:16

tee were you given a window for delivery? I'd raise it with Paypal if it had been more than 10 working days since payment.

morning ladies

have been awol as had sister and her bf visiting. Had a very nice day and plenty wine - but Mr D was up for feeds three times in the night!!

Sis announced she is almost ready to ttc!! she said the only thing stopping her is the fear of the pain of labour and of "doing it wrong" but she seems t be convinced cos she went out this morning and bought her folic acid.

Does anyone know of a good pregnancy book I could get her? never bothered meself but I think she will feel better about it if she is well informed.

Off to catch up on the news.

heron22 · 26/07/2009 13:49

mrsb there is a book by yehudi gordon. all about pregnancy, labour etc.

ladies, not sure what is going on with LO. he demanded to be put to bed at 5.30pm yesterday. this morning, he napped from 8-10am. then again at 11 - 12.30pm. now he is cranky and i have put him to bed.

hope he is not coming down sick with something

he is eating as normal though. and no temp.

in the meantime DS1 refuses to go anywhere. he just wants to sit on sofa watching peppa pig. i want to go out and get some fresh air!

jeanjeannie · 26/07/2009 14:04

....Crawls in covered in fluff, dirt and sneezing....

Afternoon all. Been up to my next in housework as DP took the girls to the park. Seriously, I found fluff balls the size of Arizona tumbleweed under our bed. I've also got EIGHT boxs (full size, house-moving thigns!) full of clothes etc to sell that the girls have grown out off!

lingu HELLO! and congrats on being preggie with number three. I wouldn't worry about the Pate palava...it is mainly guidelines, not hard and fast rules. I think tee is right about it being something to do with not over-dosing on Vit A....sounds like you probably didn't have anywhere near your quota! Apologies for this fat-moving thread...it does speed along rather!

heron enjoy having DH back and have a great time making cup cakes!

mrsB ah, i do hope your sis concieves ok. No suggestions for a book I'm afraid...I just jumped in!

jw THREE time Blimey! Hope you're not going too mad today.

iris good to hear you've got the hang of the 'hands free' sling!

hedgepig are you OK? Have you survived? Has your bum now moulded into the top of your thighs?

OK - off for shower and back the grind

heron22 · 26/07/2009 14:14

jj i do love spring cleaning! but yes, dusty sneezy work!

hedgepig how are you getting on?

bonzo u home today? hope so! how was last night?

iris66 · 26/07/2009 14:29

Welcome lingu - agree with the others about not worrying over pate (unless that's all you're eating )

tee - I've got 2 freedom slings and I love 'em - padded & unpadded (I had a calin bleu wrap & baby bjorn before - didn't work for me.) She sent each within 2 days so I'd get onto paypal.

mrsb - I gave away a brilliant book by Zita West recently - can't remember the name of it but she has a big fertility clinic in London. The book covers all the usual conception/pg stuff plus has some really good holistic tips too.

jj - it's having the time to get rid of perfectly good stuff I struggle with - good luck!

Tabitha8 · 26/07/2009 14:40

Welcome lingu and congrats on the pregnancy.
Re DM article, I don't think the gov't is exactly predicting 65,000 deaths, is it? I think that was the worst case scenario. Even I'm less worried than I was. It's reached our local nursery, but the parents seem ok about it.

lingu · 26/07/2009 15:31

Thanks for the welcome and reassurance! I'm Pingu's mum! lol

jeanjeannie · 26/07/2009 15:46

Ah yes, bonzo have you been released??? Have you got young, Master Gregory settled back home?

iris snap - it's the time that's caused the problem! We've been holed into our bedroom, surrounded by boxes of stuff for over 5 months.

FloriaTosca · 26/07/2009 17:31

Just caught up...preparing for hols...not going anywhere but the caravan but it's amazing how much cleaning ironing and
general housework is required ..

Bonzo belated congratulations on Gregory..I had 3.5 weeks of 4 bedded wards like yours before being induced...ironically I was being incarcerated for high bloodpressure, how they expected it to reduce with screaming new-borns, groaning women in labour and their hoards of visitors I'll never know, but I paid for a private room after deivery! I hope you have been released and are now home and getting some proper rest.

Hello welcome and congratulations Lingu

Both MissK and Master D on 3 feeds last night! I hope that isn't catching...we have only just got A. down to one!

JJ well done on getting cleared out. I have been trying to do the same...zero sucess

JW hope you aren't feeling too washed out today...esp with this weather!

Tee been meaning to say I love the FB pic of you and A. !

HedgepigHow are you ? How did it go? Will you ever be able to sit comfortably again? Sincerely hope the weather was better for you than it has been here and that you are thrilled with your achievement!

Got to go..Dh nagging for the laptop [grr]

mrsboogie · 26/07/2009 18:08

hedgepig how's the undercarriage?

floria I have a bad feeling about tonight - after the 3 bottles last night D has not had a single one all day!!

johnworf · 26/07/2009 18:18

Fook me....I'm tired If K gets up again x 3 tonight I'm packing my bags. Far too old for surviving on 4 hours sleep.

floria wish I was coming with you wherever your caravan is. A change is as good as a rest they say. Prolly true Send me a postcard.

The plan was to get stuff together for pics etc to get on ebay tonight but I can't be arsed. I dragged loads of stuff from under K's cot this morning as I've had to lower the base now she can climb the bars. Forgotten how much crap good stuff I've been saving.

Dunno how you're doing mrsb but I feel like I've had a pre-med and I want to cry

Tee2072 · 26/07/2009 18:48

My little man has been asleep most of the day...I think its going to be a long night...

JW I don't blame you. Make sure you go somewhere with a beach.

hedgepig you okay? Did your legs fall off so you can't get to the 'puter?

floria thanks! I just wish it was in focus!!

JJ I am a bit at your clear out. That's on my to do list. Ya know, the one I optimistically made at the end of my pregnancy. Of course I'll have time! Silly silly me.

mrsboogie · 26/07/2009 19:37

I 'spose your little man has grown out of some of his newborn stuff already tee?

I am ok jw as I was drinking wine last night with the sister ( rob for the last time as she is giving it up now) and I snored through the night and DP had to do the feeds [very bad mummy emoticon} BUT I will not get off with it tonight. D is in bed now having a nap. He will be up later and will start catching up with the 12 hrs worth of bottles he hasn't had today. He is eating fine but not interested in milk at all. Which would be fine if he didn't develop a sudden interest in it at 2a.

I have two bags worth of stuff to get rid of - won't get rid of the Amby now tho' - will lend it to sis if and when she reproduces.

heron22 · 26/07/2009 19:42

tee yes i agree, sleeping all day does not sound good. but then he is only so young. they do sleep a lot!

jw mrsbhope your LOs sleep well tonight.

my LO is doing something strange with his sleep. by 4.30pm he was real grumpy. like he was tired. gave him an early bath. he was screaming for food at 5pm. ok, gave it to him. then he was down at 5.30pm. sort of. cried, fussed. etc. half an hour later. still at it. could not settle. puked. cleaned him up. 2 mins later, asleep.
who the fuck knows why babies do some of the things they do???

mrsboogie · 26/07/2009 20:11

sounds like we are having a collective mare at the moment. D is up again and still refusing milk - I wonder is he is actually going off the stuff??

jeanjeannie · 26/07/2009 20:26

Evening all. Gosh I feel virtuous - the bedroom is sparkly, boxes are packed, labelled and happily put away so i can deal with them later - arse to ebaying/nct selling etc...haven't got the energy.

jw Oh it's horrid, scraping your way through the day with your eyes on stalks.

mrsb aye, they definately go off the milk. Well, once they're weaned they don't tend to want it much throughout the day - if at all. I find there is too much pressure to keep giving milk - I'm sure he gets plenty of calcium in other stuff.

floria Oooo, have a lovely time - I'm very Where is the caravan?

Oh jw I was going to put up a pic of 'The Hawk'ster' on FB but thought - eeek, bit too public - so if you'd like to see Chesney with my monkey then say ..."YAY!" and I'll put it up on my profle If you like what you see....I've got more crushingly minor slebs (drunk) and enjoying my simian little friend!!

johnworf · 26/07/2009 20:38

Oh YES YES! Eff me, YES! Put the monkey and Chesney up. It'll cheer me up and I need it right now
