Just lost a big post and can't be arsed pea roasting. Drat!

Sounds like all the babies had ants in their pants. K was up at 5am but went straight back down.

No plans for today apart from gardening while we've got the break in the weather.

JJ enjoy the V&A. V

heron you sound a bit more chipper today

Btw, I'm the oldest amongst my 4 other siblings. It's all true; eldest are the most intelligent

I saw this and thought all of us ladies on here should buy one and raise our LO's as pirates. Argggggggggggggg. I especially like '..........When to smack your teenager in the side of the head with an oar.'

Excellent

greetings from Guatanamo ... torture capital of the North West. Absolutely shocking night. G fed from 9.30 til 1.30am ... crying and rootiing everytime I put him down til I was exhausted and falling asleep and getting angry and crying with hopelessness. Finally went to sleep swaddled with a dummy. THEN within the next hour they brought 2 new people onto the ward. One of these babies cried ALL night until at 6am i shouted shut up and the midwife took the bloody thing away (4 hours too late). meanwhile MY baby slept from 1.30 til I woke him at 7.30. Grrrrrrrr. feel like I've been tortured. 3 nights with completely disturbed sleep (woken EVERY half hour) by other people and other babies. I AM GOING HOME TODAY ... if I have to discharge myself!

dawn awful journey from Blackpool. was it the rains? my parent's house is flooded a foot deep.

Have a good trip out jj

erm love the car analogy. That's my younger brother that is.

dawntigga · 25/07/2009 11:03

jw love ThinkGeek and IWOOT Might get DP one of those

Bonzo nope it was a combination of first week of hol's for most people, the RHS show at Tatton Park and a crash on Thelwall. The Gods transpire against me, I am Odysseus

GoingToSacrificeDSToPoseidonJustInCaseTiggaxx

Neddie · 25/07/2009 11:04

Oh Bonzo I feel for you- I had a full ward when I had DD1 but they moved me to Lymington hospital within a day and I had my own room for a week. The food was fab there as well.
I am going to Salisbury this time and haven't even seen the actual ward! Although the maternity unit looks like a second world war bunker ( I am not exaggerating) but has very nice midwives and doctors.
I am only child of dysfunctional parents (but loving in their own disturbed way) So can't comment on sibling order but explains the obsession with horses I think.
JW after having teenage daughter for 2 days I have sussed when to smack her round the head with an oar (sadly lost permanent custody of said oars and canoe in divorce!)
Well off to Morrisons for some shopping (not quite Netto but a bit cheaper than Sainsbugs)
ps. I am changing my name to Bloaty as I am so swollen.

johnworf · 25/07/2009 11:12

Bloaty is a fine pirate name, neddie {grin]

Arggggg.

dawntigga been stuck on Thelwall many a time myself so can sympathise wholeheartedly (although not with tiny baby in car...phew!)

bonzo think I'd be knotting sheets together and thinking of ways to escape. Sounds awful and sleep deprivation is bad enough with your own baby let alone other people's babies added into the equation. I know I'd be confronting a midwife about now (looks at wrist) and telling her in no uncertain terms that I was getting my coat on and taking my baby with me....I wouldn't advocate this method though as it gets you a reputation as a shirty cow.....!

johnworf · 25/07/2009 11:16

dawntigga I subscribe to Thinkgeek. I am currently debating whether or not to buy the binary watch. I really do like it. It's an extra £20 on IWOOT for the same one but you don't pay import duty. Dunno yet. Jury out.

MrsB that sounds very difficult for your little nephew . Doesn't sounds as though you can talk to your younger bro and get him on the path of righteousness - or would the fact you've not been censorious in the past make it significant to him? Not that it's your responsibility. Familes, eh!

JJ I guess the carpark thing works whatever the older one/s are doing - your DH is laid back and not academically fussed, so the next DC took the role of high-achiever and go-getter and the youngest isn't quite sure what she's about. Worryingly, I realise I'm talking about Arthur. Wonder what form his rebellion against the status quo will take

JW arrgh-ha Jimlad, I likes the cut of that book's jib. Or something. Can think of several people who would appreciate it

heron hope you have a less stressful day today

Bonzo the feeding bit sounds just like the earliest days with my LO, which are tiring enough in themselves, but the night-time interruptions from other people must be the last straw. Get outta there - and make sure you're waited upon hand and foot at home.

Tee sorry you had a disturbed night. A is pretty good now with just one wake between 11ish and 6.30ish each night. He will then feed for 40 mins or even an hour, while I nod off several times, but then goes back into his crib without complaint - so I certainly can't complain either. I scarcely day say it's a pattern though, because it's bound to change tonight if I do.

Neddie

ermintrude13 · 25/07/2009 12:14

oops, posted too soon, dunno how that happened! Neddie lol @ dealing with teenage daughter; got all that to come but she's getting in some practice early. We finally relented and let her have a mobile so I am finding that useful for bribes, but not sure how long the novelty will last. Saw a woman expecting twins in a month and she was mahoosive and v fed up; hope you're feeling chipper.

Sunny and a bit blowy here; second load of washing on the line [smug emoticon].

have good days ladies.

Tee2072 · 25/07/2009 12:29

JW love that book, me matey! May get it for DH for Christmas!

bonzo So very glad I paid for a private room when A was born. I would have committed murder, never mind yelling shut up! Especially since A wasn't even with me and in SCBU.

Depending on how you look at it, I am either the youngest of 2 (biologically) or the youngest of 7 (including steps). And I'm the adventurous one...certainly the only one who study something completely useless at University (theatrical lighting design) despite parental objections and moved half way 'round the world! Oh and let's not forget baby at 40!!

neddie sorry to hear you're so swollen. But I agree with JW 'tis a good pirate name!

dawntigga · 25/07/2009 12:57

OK it's official I'm insane. I'm going camping in Cornwall for 3 nights with a 14 week old (9 weeks if we take off his premmienous)

GoingToAnnoyPeopleInATentTiggaxx

heron22 · 25/07/2009 13:11

ermin yes i am better today. it is amazing how my mood affects DS1. if i am shirty, he is too! so it just gets worse if we areboth shirty!

bonzo OMG, what a night you had. i like the name guantanamo. how are you expected to recover from a major op? get home quick!

tee hope ur having a good nap

DS1 rode his bike without stabilisers really well today. so am proud as punch!

hedgepig · 25/07/2009 13:32

DT you are insane 3 days in Cornwall from Manchester-ish is one heck of a drive with or with out a baby. Go to Shropshire (where I originate from) it's much closer and very pretty.

Bonzo Shhhhh there is a file in this virtual lemon drizzle cake, good luck with the escape. Is G blood sugar OK?

I'm knackered O was very unsettled last night, I'm staying with a friend tonight before the bike rode tomorrow (we are leaving here at 5:45 to get to the start for 7:30) so hopefully I can get a little bit of sleep later.

JW I'm the oldest too, I agree with the intelligence thing

heron22 · 25/07/2009 13:59

jw i am the oldest too. also agree eldest kids are most intelligent!

jeanjeannie · 25/07/2009 17:41

Hello all - not such a successful day as first hoped. No - didn't get into London as Iris is hot, coughing and generally out-of-sorts Got her an ELC kitchen though - which she likes, but hasn't got much energy to play with it.

jw ah - I like the book. I think I'll just smack mine about the bonce with a parrot. LOL@Cap'tBloatyNeddie with her oars! SOrry you're all puffed up

heron congrats that your LO has got the hang of bike riding - sweeeeet!

hedgepig good luck with the ride tomorrow. What sort of bike do you have? And did you do loads of cycling pre-kiddies....by that I mean...is it something you enjoyed doing before they came along? I only ask as I'm needing to think about a bike (gave mine to SIL) and I hate riding....so not sure what'd be the best.

dawntigga I think the tent bit will be a piece of P*ss compared to the car journey!

erm I hope poor Arthur has more direction that a parked car !

Ok - off to make something to eat.

heron22 · 25/07/2009 17:41

how is everyone today?
DS1 continued to ride around the gardens in his bicycle. he is really doing well. so is boots, cos i bought a whole heap of plasters. DS1 fell and got a big graze on his arm/elbow area. poor thing. it was huge. and looks really sore. but i told him, thats part of being active so he says he wants to be robbie rotten! sit on sofa and eat cake

heron22 · 25/07/2009 17:50

jj just as well you all did not go to london. it is hot here today. LO is out of sorts too. crying, fussing etc. gave him calpol and he was asleep in 2 mins. did not even want his food.

hedgepig my DH is a cycling fanatic. rode up mt ventoux yesterday.

ok must go make DS1 dinner. he requested macaroni cheese

johnworf · 25/07/2009 19:42

JJ sorry to hear that Iris isn't well At least she liked her kitchen. Is she teething or is it a bug? Crap that you missed your day out too.

hedgepig not sure if you'll get to read this, but good luck for tomorrow and may your buttocks be left in one piece by the time you finish

Think we're having a curry later. Just settling the Boss so might get to eat in peace...not holding my breath though.

Spent afternoon in the garden in the fine sunshine, getting the lawn in order and doing some weeding (or at least supervising DH whilst myself and K admired the flowers/frogs/weeds). Uneventful but cheap entertainment

bonzo are you home yet? are you home yet? are you home yet...........?

Think mrsb is praps entertaining tonight? Hope those fleas behave themselves

OP posts:
heron22 · 25/07/2009 20:11

jw your day sounds ideal. my day was not too bad.

curry sounds delish! hope your Boss let you eat in peace !

enjoy

Tee2072 · 25/07/2009 20:22

Whoosh. Adam's been fussy all afternoon, sleeping for literally minutes at a time. I think he's finally out for a bit! DH and I are ready to drop. I do believe he has a touch of colic, poor thing.

So I'm here. I'm reading. Just can't respond!!

Good luck tomorrow hedgepig!!

heron22 · 25/07/2009 21:15

tee hugs to you hun! have you given him any of those colic drops? it helps bring wind up.

heron22 · 26/07/2009 07:55

morning all! had a relatively calm night.
DH is due home today, am very happy
it is cloudy here today. not windy or raining so that is good.
DS1 wants to make cupcakes today.

hope all the LOs slept relatively well last night

Tee2072 · 26/07/2009 08:59

So last night's 'I won't settle for love or money' baby has turned this morning's 'what? you want me to wake up for food and a clean bottom?!?! Silly Mummy!!' BABIES!!

Actually, not too bad of a night. Especially for me as DH had the night duty.

Hope everyone has a lovely Sunday.

johnworf · 26/07/2009 09:19

Moaning all.

In the words of Frankie Valli, Oh what a night. 3 nocturnal feeds for K which is unheard of round these parts. Can only think that after refusing most of her food y'day, she decided she'd have it afterall...during the early hours. Marvellous planning strategy.

Plenny rain here today heron. Think you South Easterners will praps get it this afternoon when the new influx of rain comes in. Actually, not that bothered by it. Caught the forecast y'day and knew it'd rain today which is why thought we'd tidy the garden up.

Think I have some children of mine arriving today. I say children but the youngest is now 18 as you know so not sure the term 'children' is appropriate. I think in my mind they'll always be children, whatever their age

heron glad to hear that your DH is back. Make the most of him. He'll be feeling all refreshed and guilty for leaving his family. Get him to do all the chores for the day

tee you'll never try and figure out what makes a baby tick. No point trying

This makes interesting reading re the SF hotline..............that's if it's true.

Hands up how many people think Kate Middleton is about to get dumped due to her many skeletons in the family closet.......this time being the drug taking uncle? ME! ME!

OP posts:
heron22 · 26/07/2009 09:29

jw oh 3 feeds in the night! you must be tired! did you have curry last night?

yea not raining here yet. but really cloudy.
yes i will make the most of DH being back. am really glad he will be back soon!

yes i think kate will not end up marrying william.
