Neddie · 01/06/2009 18:38

HI all
I am shaken but not stirred!
hedgepig you made me laugh- twins in saddlebags .
Thank you all for your concerns it has made me feel better. I had an antenatal app. this morning and forgot my notes but told MW all my stats and how good I felt and despite traumas that I was doing well for an oldie to which she replied "lets hope it doesn't all go tits up at the end then" . Tomorrow I will find out that Jordan is going to be a nun and Peter Stringfellow is giving up leopard print thongs. It's like I have woken up in some weird film like Donnie Darko and what appears real isn't and I am not who I thought I was.......or something......if I wasn't preggers I'd get blotto!
JW glad K is doing well- what a relief
JJ don't believe all tests- one of mine had dyspraxia apparently-but was just clumsy not stupid (she's the mega brains child)

johnworf · 01/06/2009 19:10

tee maybe she'll have a baby made entirely of air

mrsb K only has 2 bottles of milk in this weather. First thing in the morning and last at night. All other mealtimes and inbetween is apple juice diluted with boiled water. I find that milk doesn't quench their thirst.

Re her development, I'm just glad she's pretty much doing as she should do. With prems it's a sit and wait game to see what, if any, damage has been done in NICU. Fingers crossed we'll come out of the other side relatively unscathed.

Glad that other mums have babies that sleep on their fronts too

It's that time of the evening when they're all getting ready for something; bath, bed etc....so I guess I'll be back later.

ermintrude13 · 01/06/2009 19:24

Glad K got good marks in her test JW .

JJ good news that someone is warning againt knee-jerk diagnoses. My sis is going through all this with her DD - who has had 2 longish spells in IT, often under sedation - and who has recently been doing really well with her language development, only for someone to talk about it being 'only parrotting'. Complete nonsense - not only does the imitation show her growing interest in words, but she then uses them correctly afterwards and her speech is becoming much clearer. She's just doing things a bit slower than normal but she's getting there.

Tee oh no, it's too late for us to try that calorie-controlled diet

mrsboogie · 01/06/2009 19:36

when we picked D up from nursery this evening he was in a right old state, hot, sweaty, snottery, tired and with an expression of abject misery on his poor wee teary face. They said he'd been "very unsettled" which is their way of saying he'd cried all day and refused all bottles. I reckon its the heat and the teeth. He was grey in the face all the way home.

He is in bed now grumbling away...

Is it very wrong that I have taken a sudden fancy to Peter Barlow off Corrie?

heron22 · 01/06/2009 20:31

mrab it was a hot day today and muggy too. my LO was hot and sweaty as well. i bought some talc powder but made of corn starch. the particle size is bigger than the johnsons talc. so inhalation into lung is not an issue.

jeanjeannie · 01/06/2009 20:50

Well, I think this heat has confuddled everyone - it hits you so quickly after the usual British weather, so the LOs must really feel it. Verity isn't even interested in boobie milk Nope - it's cold water in her beaker she's after. And the volume of wee in the nappy...wow....like my old Tiny Tears dolly!!

mrsB I've had a strange 'thing' for Peter Barlow for quite some time. Bit worrying as he bears more than a passing resemblance to DP's brother Who, I hasten to add, I do not find remotely attractive. I DO like a big nose on a man though

neddie Watch for those Donnie Darko rabbits

ermintrude oh your poor sis sounds like she's been going through it all with her DD. Well, the speech therapist we saw believed that language can be learned in many ways and that echoing back can turn into normal speech quite easily. FIngers crossed eh!

Verity has had 40 mins sleep since 6 this morning and now DP has had to go and see to her as she's screaming her heart out....so best go! Wonder how Tab is getting on?

johnworf · 01/06/2009 20:57

mrsb poor little D This weather is fab for the big 'uns but the little ones really don't like it. Just makes them really cranky. I can't imagine taking her abroad while she's like this unless we had somewhere air conditioned. I really hope that he manages to sleep it off and feels better tomorrow. Why didn't the nursery tell you during the day that he was off? I would have wanted to know. It's a long time for a little one not to have a drink. He's probably a bit dehydrated. Would he let you give him a bath?

ermintrude I think that parents just know when something isn't right with their LO's and in your sisters case, I'd stick to her guns. I've challeneged those in the health care profession before as there have been occasions when I have known I have been right. As it turned out in the end, I was. I think we can often be bamboozled with medic speak and feel we have to go with the flow otherwise we're denying our children.

heron I think Burts Bees do a similar dusting powder.

It's very wrong to fancy Peter Barlow mrsb. He's just so........not your type Although I did like the book that he was reading before; Flat Stanley. My older kids used to love that one when they were little

johnworf · 01/06/2009 20:59

JJ DH is upstairs with K who is also having the screaing abdabs.

mrsboogie · 01/06/2009 21:32

well, Mr D came back down, had some baby coke, cheered up considerably had a bottle and a banana with some Greek yoghurt and has now gone back to bed. Still awake though chatting and chuntering.

I told the nursery that he was off this morning so they will have assumed it was more of the same - which it was to be fair. Just made a bit worse by the heat and tiredness. He was asleep when we got in so we turned the fan on him and a cool flannel on his head and he cooled down nicely.

This sudden heat is a bit of a shock to the system alright.

I must like a man with a big nose too jj as my OH has a big 'un

Tee2072 · 01/06/2009 21:42

Okay, experience mums...what does it mean when only one foot is swollen? My right foot is totally puffy, my left is fine!

johnworf · 01/06/2009 21:49

Might be the way baby is lying and pressing on nerves or baby weight lies to your right side? tee?

Wonder how tabitha is getting on having a baby in this heat? Mind you, I remember having DS#2 in the middle of a hot July night. Lordy. Good job it lasted just a couple of hours. Far too hot to be having a baby. Hope tabs is a quicky then she can get to having a cold refreshment as she puts her feet up.

Tee2072 · 01/06/2009 21:50

That could be JW. It feels very weird!

johnworf · 01/06/2009 21:53

tee get your foot/feet up higher than your heart that way the fluid can drain out of your swollen one. Put something cold on it too.

Maybe take it easy tomorrow in the heat and try to keep your weight off it.

Tee2072 · 01/06/2009 22:00

They have been up. Doesn't seem to have helped.

I'm off to bed so I'll put it up there.

And tomorrow I have to be at antenatal clinic!

Night all!

jeanjeannie · 01/06/2009 22:15

Yep, my DP has a big 'un too mrsB
Awww, poor little D ....hope he gets a good night.

tee I think it's the baby - annoying you! Yup feet up - or - feet in a bowl of cool water, not glamorous but very practical.

jw hope K got off ok. I think you'll find that if everything has gone according to plan, then Tab should already be basking in the glory of motherhood and be having her pedicure

Off to bed - hot bothered and Ashes to Ashes has finished, so nowt left to watch.

johnworf · 01/06/2009 22:19

haha@pedicure. If only...............

Bedtime for me too. K's just about gone to sleep. Left the fan on so hopefully she'll stay there until morning

iris66 · 02/06/2009 06:59

morning all
I slept until 5.15 this morning!! YAY! DH moved back out into DS' room so I had a whole cool bed to thrash about in what a difference!

I've had breakfast, got washing on the line and I'm just raring to go today. I think the nesting bug's finally kicking in - I just have to try not to crash & burn now

Tee - hope your foot swelling's gone down today. The heat certainly doesn't help does it.

mrsb/jw - hope D & K weren't too restless when they finally went off last night.

heron - you can make your own dusting powder really easily (I use homemade powder instead of cream for reflexology - loads cheaper than shop bought)
All you need is cornflour (the stuff you use to thicken gravy)in a small Johnsons container and about 2 drops of essential oil if you want to fragrance it (though be very careful which ones you use as the vast majority are unsuitable for babies and have to be diluted in oil first before you do anything with them - especially tea tree/lavender/citrus oils).

jj - hope V is ok after her jabs

right! - off to try to grab a shower before the boys wake up.....

johnworf · 02/06/2009 07:54

iris glad you had a good nights sleep

Wish same could be said here at Worf towers Another 1am session of screaming. No idea why. However, note this morning that madam has developed a random screech when she's not happen. Not crying just more of a shrieking noise. Lovely.

I think it's going to be one of those days.

iris66 · 02/06/2009 08:26

jw - poor K there's supposed to be a bit of a breeze today so hopefully she'll have an easier one (and you!!)

duchesse - I erroneously told you that the next full moon was monday and I've just noticed that MN do a moonwatch apparently it's Sunday 7th at 18.12 < iris checks for hair growth on palms>

BonzoDoodah · 02/06/2009 08:51

morning all
ZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Matilda was up an hour earlier this morning - all bright and chatty and demanding bick-bix (sigh) ... I just wanted to roll over - shattered.

My family is having a nightmare too - my sister's partner fell off something this weekend in Anglesey and broke his ribs and punctured his lung. Was rushed from the beach in an ambulance to Bangor hospital - he's still in. So they haven't come home from the weekend.

Brother finished with his girlfriend after trying for many months - only she's become a bunny boiler and is phoning and texting him 20-30 times a day. So he said "bugger off" and said he didn't want to see her ever again. The very next day she's phoned to tell him she's pregnant. ... bit convenient that one eh ...

OP posts:
johnworf · 02/06/2009 08:54

omg bonzo. She's a strange one.

Hope your sister's partner gets better quickly. Lordy, that sounds like a nasty accident.

Ah yes, the early morning start....just had one of those coupled with DH on a short fuse. Marvellous

jeanjeannie · 02/06/2009 09:01

Morning all. Wow this heat IS doing the oddest things to babies and adults alike.

bonzo - it's all happening there - hope your sis's partner is ok. Mmmmm, the bunny boiler sounds like she's clutching at straws to me.

iris I have the waxing/waning gibbous on my Google customised home page - no idea why - makes my feel more intouch with my earthly self I do like the picture and hourly update!

jw Ooooo, screaching - nasty I'm having trouble now telling the difference when i'm half asleep between the girls screaching. I can barely tell Verity from Iris as she's got quite a mature shriek - grrrrrrrr. We were up at 4am - as is usual - a few pats on the back and she's asleep again.

Verity has bitten my nipple - drew blood she did, it's so painful. Any tips for chewed nipple recovery would be most welcome!

Jabs at 10.40 today although she's got a nose pouring with snot - so I'll leave it up to the nurse. She's quite a hard sort, so i can't see her saying no!

Tee2072 · 02/06/2009 09:17

Good morning all!

I just got up, but didn't actually sleep for more than about 2 hours at a time, between loo runs and cramps.

Off to the clinic today and will find out if they are going to do a CS in 10 days. I'll keep you posted!

JW screeching will make me insane, I hope this one doesn't do that, but I am not counting on it.

tab! Baby?

bonzo I hope your sister's partner gets better soon, sounds horrible.

iris glad you slept well. It really does make all the difference!

Have a lovely day all.

ermintrude13 · 02/06/2009 09:29

Helloooo

Iris, Sunday night, gotcha. I'll do my best to push it out then . Tee, why not join me for a full moon baby? All those cramps might mean you don't make it till CS... My DH was v hopeful that DD would be a 'Star Wars Baby' (May the fourth...) but she was born the day before.

Bonzo hope your sister's DP is released from hosp soon and that your bro's ex is NOT pregnant!

JW and JJ does it sound like the monkey house round yours? Screeching is very primate-like and it's one of those sounds that can go right through you. Perhaps Floria can suggest how to encourage the girls' screeching to segue into lovely soprano scales (Floria where are you?).

Good news from my agent at last - she's just negotiating a deal for my new novel to be published in Dutch! Not the largest market in a start, but my first foray into Europe, and a little wodge of Euros I wasn't expecting .

The weather is supposed to turn tomorrow so enjoy it/get that laundry on the line while you can ladies.

ermintrude13 · 02/06/2009 09:30

I mean not the largest market in the world. doh.
