mrsb thanks for the tip on eczema. my LO has some on his face. will try it.

heron22 · 09/05/2009 18:17

ah wonderwitch what a cute bean

heron22 · 09/05/2009 18:18

well done jw so close to ur goal weight!

ermintrude13 · 09/05/2009 18:41

There you are JJ! Sorry you had such a crap night's sleep but hurrah for your massive tent with double garage and verandah

JW Meant to say that dress is gorgeous. I love that print and the colours are fab. Sensible way of dividing up the weight loss goals too - all at once makes it seem too depressing right at the start but manageable chunks is do-able. Mmm, manageable chunks makes me think of Dairy Milk. I'm going to be sooooo bad at weight loss post-baby

I'm going to buy some bumgenius nappies purely for their name

heron glad the party went well - my DS is clamouring for bowling for his 7th bd this Sept so we may well be following that route later this year.

mrsb I still can't believe you have 4st to lose when I see your photo. You must be 8 ft tall! Aveeno sounds interesting - all my lotions and potions are great but petroleum based, like most eczema/bland moisturising preparations, so I'll check that out. I did once have an oatmeal-based facial cleanser to use instead of soap that brought me out in a rash but it could have been any ingredient that did that and it would be nice to have a change from the usual lard aqueous cream etc.

We've completed day 1 of a gruelling weekend schedule of sorting out the garden for us and fun and sport for DC including football matches and tournaments, swimming lessons, swimming parties, softplay parties, tap lesson and trip to nature reserve. All the lift-sharing arrangements with other parents got so complicated I typed it up on the pc. DH laughed at me but then spent all day referring to it to find out where he was supposed to be next, so admitted it was a good idea after all.

Next week is SATS for DD which will seem like a breeze after this weekend...

mrsboogie · 09/05/2009 18:42

jj Ken just up and handed her the note - she read it without as much as batting an eye and said she wasn't that surprised considering his recent behaviour and popped round to Eileen's for a bit of a moan. Later, Blanch found the note and read it - went mad at Ken whereupon Deirdre said she wanted the whole matter dropped and never mentioned again. Blanch was not impressed with this turn of events and was promptly turfed out by Deirdre. So she's gone to live with Peter.

oh yes wonderwitch you can see the bean alright

Triggles · 09/05/2009 18:43

johnworf and jeanjeannie thanks so much for the thumbs up on the motherease and bum genius - I'll definitely look into them - I like the whole "one size" thing!

I can't believe Dierdre's reaction to Ken's note, letting him stay. Although I have to say I agree with her on the "what do you expect me to say to this? Do you expect me to be grateful you're staying?" My thoughts exactly. Especially when he told her "remember it's my house" and she replied "not after I show this note to a solicitor it wouldn't be!" Gotta love it!

mrsboogie · 09/05/2009 18:49

the thing I love about Corrie is that they always show "oldies" having dramas and relationships and such, like everybody else and drama is not the sole oreserve of the young and skinny.

Sorry to hear about the conjunctivitis jj dunno how you are supposed to tell the difference between that and a sticky eye though.

D still has the cough from his virus - he seems fine, if a bit tetchy, but when he cries he makes no noise at all - just a teeny weeny squeaking sound. He can speak ok just not cry. And his chest is quite rattly - I'm wondering whether I shouldn't have taken him to the doctors yesterday...;

Tee2072 · 09/05/2009 18:54

Can I just say how happy I am that I found you group of sane, reasonable mummies?

On another board I frequent, I have been told today that:

Intelligent Design is science
Vaccinations are the same as spanking, as they violate the child. And are humiliating.
But, spanking is not hitting. Because its discipline....

Someone shoot me now. Better yet...someone feed me the veggie lasagna that's about to come out of the oven.

heron22 · 09/05/2009 19:01

tee my god, what thread is that?

Triggles · 09/05/2009 19:02

Tee well, I think "sane" is maybe going a bit far! Veggie lasagna sounds yummy, but I can't currently move as I'm stuffed. We had a huge family barbeque this afternoon, and I am completely full. Probably will be for a week! LOL On the plus side, DS was running all over the rear garden all afternoon, and is now fast asleep in bed. (So is DH, but on the sofa )

mrsboogie · 09/05/2009 19:30

Good god tee

I have seen the odd post from one mum who doesn't vaccinate her children at all against anything. I really can't go there. Would lose it.

Humiliating? and that'd be a fate worse than polio or TB would it?

Tee2072 · 09/05/2009 20:11

Its on a totally different message board heron not on MN at all.

Veggie lasagne was delicious, and two huge pieces got frozen for when baby comes!!

ermintrude13 · 09/05/2009 20:20

Tee I was wondering if I'd missed something on the June thread for a moment there. Somebody did make an analogy with infant ear-piercing/circumcision and vaccination, saying they all caused pain, but I didn't have the energy to go - erm, vaccinations do have a purpose though, don't they?! I liked your straight to the point comment on circumcision .

I read your final sentence as though you were saving the lasagne for baby . Think I need some sleep.

johnworf · 09/05/2009 20:29

OMFG which planet are these losers from? Vaccinations are humiliating and violate? Pur. Leese.

haha JJ. You've got the same tent as us - exactly! Takes us over an hour to get ours up with DSS running around. Make sure you have a couple of goes putting it up before you go away to get yourself acquainted with it

Not sure how you are managing to stand on that little amount of sleep On top of a night out as well! You're hardcore.

OP posts:
Triggles · 09/05/2009 20:30

oh god, circumcision threads are evil - I avoid the like the plague - the ones on the US sites are particularly offensive! I think I'll avoid the vaccinations one, stupid people give me hives!

Tee2072 · 09/05/2009 21:00

ermintrude seeing as I am Jewish, I have had the circumcision conversation with my mum, my dad and my oldest brother. None of them are happy with the decision, but I am not that bothered either way and DH thinks it is totally barbaric. Since he has a penis? He wins!!!

ermintrude13 · 09/05/2009 21:46

There are support groups for circumcised men who resent having had an unnecessary op performed in infancy. And some of them try to stretch the remaining skin up and fasten it with a little peg thing to try to 'grow back' a foreskin. . I wouldn't like to think my DS would have to be doing that in future..

Wonderwitch · 10/05/2009 06:35

Good Morning all,

Now getting fed up of waking up at 5.30 every morning, have no idea why but its becoming a routine I'm not liking specially on a sun, sundays are for lie ins grrrr lol

Sitting here cringing at circumcision convo's and now have such lovely images in my head, (lots of little willies!!!) thanks for that everyone, just what I needed this early on a sunday morn lmao

So glad you can all see our ickle squiggle on the scan pic, some of my family where like, where is it? I thought it was very obvious, Wonder why some people just cant see it and others spot it straight away?? hmmm ???

Anyway, hope you all have a really lovely day.

Take care

xxXxx

heron22 · 10/05/2009 08:32

morning all hi wonderwitch thing about those scan photos you gotta know what ur looking for. and us mums have experience in that area

why are you getting woken up so early?

both my sons are not circumcised. just too painful i think and not necessary.

jeanjeannie · 10/05/2009 08:53

Morning all.
Well, I'm barely functioning so I'm popping by to make apologies and run. Had about 4hrs sleep - again. Verity is virtually hysterical most nights....and I'm trying desperately to get her off the boob because it's not hunger, just comfort. Thing is she can't get back to sleep any other way, so we're giving this controlled crying lark a go and there are a lot of frayed nerves in the house. DP and me had a huge row, I just don't think he understands when I say I've barely slept!

So, he's back out doing the garden and i'm taking the girls to the park. May pop by later, but I'm not having any luck getting to the computer. If I see a chance to sleep today then i'm going ot grab it -but not holding out any hope!

BTW, wonderwitch forgot to say ...Awwwww, the scan picture, so sweet, they always make me melt!

And as for Intelligent Design being 'scientific'.....PMSL!! PUR-LEASE! DP has a creationist cousin....he's getting married to another creationist....but they ARE having dancing at their wedding....OOOoooo, radical! What a wild, fun lot they are! Anyhooo, you can't persuade 'em any different. Darwin would've been SO proud

As for circumcision.....WHAH! My poor ex-partner had his sliced off due to it tightening when he was about 17....he always mourned its loss!

Off to battle with the girls about brushing teeth and de-gunk Verity's eyes. Have a lovely Sunday - at least the sun is out here

Tee2072 · 10/05/2009 10:43

Morning.

Lots of sympathy JJ. Sorry your having such a tough time. Make DH stay up with her, then he'll know what no sleep really means!!

I myself had a decent nights sleep, for once. And getting kicked to death over here! This is why I never worry about low kick days, just so long as I feel something. Because baby always makes up for it the next day! When it doesn't kick two days in a row? Then I'll worry!

Off to have a long soak, although DH might have to haul me out of the tub. Almost couldn't get out yesterday!

Wonderwitch · 10/05/2009 12:30

heron22
I have no idea why I'm waking up at such an ungodly hour, been doing it everyday for the past couple of weeks, seems I can only sleep for bout 5 hrs at very most each sleep, very strange so my sleep pattern is all over the place at the mo. been getting up at 5.30 every morn then having naps during the day.

JJ
I'm the same, I get all teary wen I see any scan pic, they just sooo cute

Poor you going though a hard time, I'm sure it wont belong before things improve, the controlled crying really does work, so do stick at it however hard it may seem. I did it with my DD when she wouldn't stay in her bed, she would end up making herself sick and all sorts, they key is no communication/ eye contact or interaction so eventually they get the message , felt so cruel but it did work, I was a Nanny before I had my own kids and I used to use it with my charges if needed, so I got my practice there and it was much easier when it wasn't my own.
Stick with it and wish you all the best xxxx

xxXxx

ermintrude13 · 10/05/2009 14:16

JJ so sorry you had another bad night; we had exactly the same problem with DD at around 9 months who would only fall asleep at the breast. I think we've talked about cc on this thread before; it was hard but definitely worth it. We did the version where you feed the babe, take her off the tit and burp if necessary then put into cot and say a few night-night words and leave. If she cried (IF! Ha ha) we would return in 1 minute and again just approach the cot and soothingly say goodnight again, then leave. Then in 2 mins. Then 4, 8, 16, 32 etc. It was supposed to be just words but sometimes I couldn't resist giving her little hand a kiss through the cot bars . Took us 3 nights and it was sooooo much nicer all round once she'd worked out that it wasn't a permanent abandonment and that she could go to sleep on her own. The joy of getting 6 hours of sleep all in one go!

Tee I've just been potting edible stuff in the greenhouse and this LO was kicking the bejaysus out of me, which made the whole thing quite a battle. Mine likes to kick just as I'm trying to go to sleep or when I'm being particularly active - I reckon s/he thinks it's a competition DH is back with DD now her footie tournament is finished so they're going to plant up all the patio pots under my direction while I sit back and rest

Tee2072 · 10/05/2009 16:37

Gack! Our family domain got hacked and my brother was accused of phishing! I would be laughing at him, only it means my blog is down until they fix it!

Oh, and Happy US Mother's day!

Neddie · 10/05/2009 16:56

Rushes in....had another 4 legged baby today another bay colt- that's 2 down 3 to go.........intelligent design....interesting theory....but just that......who knows the secret of the Universe..just that it's amazing have just kissed the fluffy nose of newborn foal...the world is sometimes just wonderful.. have a lovely day.
Try to get some rest JJ you will burn out at this rate.
Ps I have to admit I find foals much cuter than babies...
