MOrning. I'm not going to bore anyone with my night ...........WHAH! At least I'm not sat on the tube...or having to feign being awake in a very dull meeting.

jw sorry if you've already told us.....but which dress did you go for....for the non-christening?

Wow - wish my feet would lose weight. I've around 40 pairs () of shoes that DP bought down from the loft at the weekend and nearly all of them are getting ebayed - or something All now too small; slinky LK Bennett numbers, Kurt Geiger, Gucci, Mui Mui..........WAH WAH!!

A lacklustre day stretches ahead I fear. Have our 85yr old friend round this morning as she wants to see the garden - then a big fat nothing. It'll be an excercise in amusing ourselves...!

johnworf · 07/05/2009 09:05

JJ what size are you?? Can I come round just to view if they don't fit me? Doubt they would fit me if they're too small for you though....what a shame.

Well I didn't get to John Lewis as some of you may or may not know. DH had a huge migraine on Tuesday. An all dayer. Caused by the bum cream the GP gave him...he didn't read the leaflet until afterwards where it said 'do not use if tendency to migraines'. Lordy, he was bad. Anyhoo never made it to JL but their loss is Ebays gain. I bought a FC silk/wool wrapover print dress. Don't have a pic but will post one when I've worn it.

No plans for today apart from booking a bra fitting at M&S to get the official verdicts on the spaniels ears

mornin all

Am at home today with the little man as we have both got to the nasty cough stage of the lurgy . Must be back at work tomorrow though as I am v busy.

I am hoping my feet will shrink too as I have loads of shoes that are too small for my fat feet.

Hope all are well.

hmmm. feeling bored already...

jeanjeannie · 07/05/2009 09:43

Ah - yes, the migraine - I remember now. Blimey, that's one hell of a bum cream

OOOooo, now I'm liking the sound of the FC wrap dress. FC do use lovely fabric and its construction is usually fabulous. Basically much of it is still all made through Nicole Fahri I think (as Mr FC and Nicole were married once upon a time) I'leaning towards the white FC skirt - it did look really fab.

I was a size 6 shoe. Now it's more like 7 with a Clarkes-style extra wide fitting Oh one pair of navy sude kitten heel shoes with a rich velvet trim are edible [sobs into hanky]

iris I think it must be heriditary as my dad was told when he had his hip replacement at 78yrs old that the surgeon had never seen skin like it on a man of his age - and that he must have a collagen surplus! My dad got himself out of bed the next morning - walked up to reception and asked where the heck his tea and toast was And at 84 he's barely got a wrinkle. i should post a pic of him - he is amazing. And still the captain of the winning pub quiz team in his local league!!

heron22 · 07/05/2009 10:05

hi all morning it is a dull grey day here today. good for staying in

i am feeling better this morning. last night, i just felt so exhausted, all the BF, pumping milk, looking after 2 kids and DH. anyway more positive this morning. sigh, i had started losing weight but over the long weekend, i ate too much and put on a pound

jw sorry to hear your DH gets migrane my DH is the same. now the minute he starts to feel a migrane coming on he takes this medicine and go lie down in the dark and quiet and most times it does not get to fullblown migrane complete with violent vomitting!

ah bra fitting. hate doing it. but i need to go get it done to see what size i am now. definitely smaller than when i was pregnant.

Tee2072 · 07/05/2009 10:20

Morning all.

JJ you just described my day. Trying to stay awake during board meeting!!

And baby brain strikes...CEO comes up to me, 'um, I hate to tell you this...but the report we sent to the Board? Was from Sept 2008.'

GACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I told my boss to throw me under the bus and blame my baby brain!!

johnworf · 07/05/2009 10:31

heron DH gets them really bad. So bad that about 18 months ago the GP sent him to see a consultant neurologist. He ran a lot of tests but just came up with 'migraine' which we knew already Anyhoo he gave him a prescription for some tablets that you pop on your tongue (name escapes me). They're fantastically expensive - about £20 a TABLET but boy, they do the job. Unfortunately I only remembered these after he had the vomitting Will know for next time.

mrsb is it your turn for the lurgy now? I'm sure that the bugs flying around this past year have been lots worse than usual - or praps it's my imagination....but we've all had more than our fair share of coughs and sniffles, along with the LO's.

JJ omg...I'm feeling hope, excitement and shoe envy. I'm picturing an ugly sister moment where I try and squeeze my fat trotters into your beautiful shoes. Actually, I'm wondering if they'd fit I'll get the Doblo running and be there in 4 hours

Didn't know the FC and Farhi connection. Sorry, too many connections in one sentence there but..........that would explain a lot. Love the cut on the dress and will def post a pic when I've got it on.

I found a free sample this morning of the clinique foundation that I used to wear years ago and out of a bored moment, thought I'd give it a go. I'm converted and now remember why I used to use it. I'm off to Boots this PM to buy a vat of it (can't get hold of this one wholesale, sadly).

Also have to get DSS a nice shirt (tie is pushing it) for non-christening. Bought him a lovely check one but he refused to wear it so I'll see what Next have to offer. Also, again for non-christening, got DH a nice Katherine Hamnett silk tie. Who? he asked was she 'Never heard of her' he said. Pearls before swine ........

It's seemed relentless jw with the lurgies although I think jj has had had it much worse than me! We are only allowed to have 8 days off sick in a year or else questions start getting asked and forms filled in - I have hit 8 since I went back less than 3 months ago Well, can't be helped.

I'm not really following re your DH and the migraine tablets - did they make him ill or was it something else?

oooh can't wait see this latest dress - I am in awe of your ebaying skills jw I could never find anything remotely suitable.

I have fallen in love with a French Connection dress - its only available in size 14 though and I have no idea how long it will take me to fit into a 14. Months probably.

heron22 · 07/05/2009 10:52

jw any tips for successful ebaying ?

ermintrude13 · 07/05/2009 10:59

Gosh JW, that must have been strong bum cream to get all the way up to DH's head so fast . My DH has developed a weird migraine thing in the past few years - needs a darkened room, goes all pale, thumping pain. What is it with these men?

All this talk of clothes is making me think ahead to when I'm back to normal size - hopefully back to slightly less than I was when I got pg actually - and can buy some items without a stretch front. No point doing it now but my sis is getting married in Sept so I'll need to get something then. What do you reckon, 3 months should be enough as long as I buy something that's not too close-fitting...?

Tee oops at your report . Still, it will ease the pain of your leaving work for your boss

hedgepig · 07/05/2009 12:08

afternoon, the baby is asleep after a 5am start uggggg and i have just found a sausage roll to munch on yummm I really must re-start my diet (after I have finished the sausage roll of course).

MrsB sorry to hear you and MrD are not feeling too well, nurserys are such a breeding ground for germs.

I do like this MS and IQ "link" like Ermintrude I was sick all the way through my pgs so I must have super intelligent children, although DS1 can't even remember what he had for lunch most days so maybe it hasn't worked so well for him .

Tee only 2 weeks to go you are on the home stretch.

mrsboogie · 07/05/2009 12:20

my mother claims to have been sick several times a day for the whole 9 months with all of us so we should be feckin' geniuses!

mmm....sausage roll...

slurp

hedgepig · 07/05/2009 12:28

they are really low fat you know ...........now where did I leave my glasses

Tee2072 · 07/05/2009 12:35

I wonder if the baby gets smarter the longer morning sickness lasts? Because I was over it, but its come back some!!

heron22 · 07/05/2009 14:25

jj i can relate to you there. my DS1 is a picky eater. and it frustrates me when i cook something nice and he wont even try it.

johnworf · 07/05/2009 14:33

Afternoon ladies.

Glorious sunshine outside

Who mentioned the sausage rolls? I so want one just thinking about it. Talking of which, just ordered the catering for non-christening or NC as it shall be known so as to save my fingers. I know I've ordered too much and will be thrusting doggy bags into the visitors hands on exit. My kids come to expect it.

I had horrendous MS on my first but none at all on my second and third. K was more nausea especially for cooking smells. I'm sure it's girls that cause the worse cases and I don't see any link with super intelligence over my 4...sounds like BS to me.

Just been to Next to get DSS's shirt and tried on size 14 jeans. I'm still wearing size 16's and it's embarrassing as they keep falling down Anyhoo, size 14's too big so size 12's!!! Yippee Came away with them feeling very smug. Top half isn't following suit though and is still firmly at a size 14 but I'm always bigger on top - apart from boobs

heron what you trying to sell on Ebay? If you want some basic tips here are mine:

-----Always start to finish on a Sunday evening. Thursday evenings are good for a 10 day auction. That means people see your items for 2 weekends and Sunday, around 8-9pm is the best finishing time. Either list them at this time or use www.auctiva.com to schedule them to start then.

Always take a good pic. Hanging on a nice door or mannequin if poss. Don't model it (people don't like seeing potenital item on someone else)! Always make sure the door/carpet or whatever is in the background is clean and tidy NO clutter please! Buyers don't want to see your tights flung in a heap on the sofa behind the thing you're selling

99p starts are good and attract more people.

I have more specific tips for different kinds of items so ask if you have something in mind to sell.-----

ermintrude the bum cream acted as a muscle relaxant. I'm guessing on his sphincter. I think it gets into your bloodsteam pretty quick from your bottom (think suppositories) and it's obviously dilated his blood vessels in his body....hence the migraine.

Wonderwitch Our first scan was at 6 weeks (abdominal) and the heart beat was very clear. Mind you, Little Tab is looking like a big one .
I have tons of cellulite and lots of wrinkles. I look old enough to be my own Grandma.

heron22 · 07/05/2009 15:06

hi tee only 2 weeks to go! are you all ready for the big day? nursery and all that ready?

mrsboogie · 07/05/2009 15:23

Size 12 jw!!

heron22 · 07/05/2009 17:39

jw thanks for the tips! i have some baby stuff to sell. also a fetal heart monitor.

Neddie · 07/05/2009 17:44

What potent bum cream WOW (literally).
Have just read an article in the Mail about breastfeeding which was quite interesting. I think to encourage BF they should issue as standard a huge tube of Camillosan (or similar)and tell you that by day 3 you will probably have nightmares about sore nipples and babies with the suction of a sink plunger!
I think that often the shock of it can make mothers feel like giving up- luckily my mum said not to worry and it would get better after a few days (she was a midwife for a while). I feel there might have been something else going on with the mum that committed suicide and not just PND from not breastfeeding successfully. I fed a night bottle of formula from 7 weeks with both of mine to top them up (mainly to get a good nights sleep)and they are touch wood the healthiest children ever. I think "compromise" should be in the childrearing vocabulary a bit more.

BonzoDoodah · 07/05/2009 17:45

hello all - found you and caught up again!

Sorry to hear about DH's migraines jw. I read recently that they can be caused by a hole-in-the-heart that is otherwise benign. Clearing up the hole can clear up the migraines ...foundthelink. If nothing else is working it may be worth asking about this - is a non-intrusive test to spot the hole (ecg?).
Oh and wooooo to size 12! (Also ... I missed why it is a non-christening and not a real christening if it is in a church ... what was the deal?)

Can't keep up with all the topics so hope you are all well.

I heard another before-unknown-horrendous side effect of pregnancy ... friend of mine has vulval varicose veins!!!! OMG! How hideous do they sound??

Going to try and sneak out of the house tonight and leave Darling D with hubby. She's obviously got some mild bug and needs more sleep and has decided to whine and moan and cling and throw tantrums. You know those days when you'd put them to bed at 5pm if you could?? Sigh .....

BonzoDoodah · 07/05/2009 17:46

oh and iris you've had me snorting stifling a laugh while I read (at work - tut tut) about painting your hooves!

Triggles · 07/05/2009 18:02

bonzo oh yeah - v varicose veins - had those with last baby, and have them again now - they are really uncomfortable - they get worse with standing and walking for long periods. Thankfully they go away within a few weeks of baby being born. But they're hideous AND miserable! I didn't know about them til I got them and midwife told me what they were. Ouch!

johnworf · 07/05/2009 18:04

bonzo I errr...ahem...had varicose veins in my vulva on my DD#1 They were most painful and unsightly (I'm told). I first had them noticed by a MW when I was hospitalised with pre-eclampsia. Put 4 stone on and lots of it was fluid so guess it had something to do with that. Didn't have them again though (THANK GOD!).

It's a non-christening as K was christened in her incubator the night she was born. So, you can't be christened twice. We're doing the part that was missed on the first night i.e. god parents, candle, party, joy...etc etc

Thanks for link. Interesting theory. I shall email to DH for him to have a look at and get checked out. (I wonder if it would be pushing it to ask the consultant when K has her next ECG ?)

neddie I felt like a cow on a milking machine this time around. I expressed all of my milk. However, did you know that the night feed is one of the most essential ones to keep your milk supply up? If you start missing the one around 1-3am then the milk starts to dwindle.
