The more we scream, the more choc fudge cake we get to eat to build up our energy reserves! .

iris66 · 06/05/2009 16:45

jw I grunt like a rhino even though I know it's wasted energy DH had the gall to tell me to be quiet when I had DS1 (his last 2 were CS so he'd not witnessed the full horrors joy of labour before ) I think I told him to go away (but with lots of 'f's in )

Tabitha perhaps we should to try to go all scientology and just breathe the little darlings out

hedgepig/heron I'm twinkling with delight

I had a massively embarassing moment earlier. DS1's pre-school had the photographers in last week and they handed out all the proofs today. I really can't do nice photos of my children when I'm pg and actually blubbed when I saw them The supervisor was everso concerned so I then had to mutter hormones and admit that this had happened when I was expecting DS2 too (I also had to stop the car I was crying so much when "don't stop me now" (Queen) came on when pg with DS1. ooooh the shame

iris66 · 06/05/2009 16:50

jw that was my one joy when I found i was pg again this time. My boobs grew back They're nowhere near as big as they were when I've been pg before but a very decent size. I'm dreading the post bf shrinkage too so please try to remember where you find nice bras

ermintrude13 · 06/05/2009 16:54

DH said the sounds I made during second stage with DD were 'like singing operatic scales only going much higher than a soprano' . And when the midwives arrived for my homebirth with DS I was just about in second stage - but instead of getting ready to catch him, the first thing they did was close the window because I was turning the air blue outside with my extremely loud cursing.

Maybe it'll be 3rd time lucky and I'll just breathe it out. Wish we laid eggs...

Wonderwitch · 06/05/2009 17:39

Hi All xx

Just got back from the hospital , got sent up to be checked for eptopic, the urine test came back with nothing wrong. I have never been so scared waiting for the scan.

Thankfully and me tearfully, everything is just fine, everything in the right place, but the scan was sooo clear and we saw the heartbeat, VERY strong which is strange considering I am supposed to be only 6+3, it maybe tho that I am more advanced than we thought or I'm going to have a giant lol

There is no signs of any cysts and they could find anything that would be causing me the pain phewwwww!! so its just growing pains wooo hooo

Anyway just thought I would let you know and thank you for all ur messages

Wish there was a [phewww] smiley lol

Tee2072 · 06/05/2009 17:41

Hi all

Well, I can now add ear infection to my list of complaints. Thank god for penicillian!

The one really interesting thing MW said last night in class was that screaming during pushing was counter productive. Better to grit teeth and put all energy into pushing! Never thought of that!

I am absolutely wrecked, so I'll just say have a lovely night all!

hedgepig · 06/05/2009 17:41

woopppps JW summer 2004 not supper!

All this talk of breathing is tempting me into another pg just to see what it is like ....or maybe not

iris66 · 06/05/2009 18:10

wonderwitch - I'm so pleased at your news (though not as much as you - obviously) I just hope my comment didn't panic you - though I have to say, when you said afterwards that you'd had a cyst on your ovary, I did wonder whether it was merely aligament/stretching thing or a repeat of what you'd had before . That said, I had an inguinal hernia fixed 6mths before I go pg with DS1 and I still get pulling pain in it now (3rd pg since op)

Tee - you're another candidate that can join the scientology approach of silence then (though the chances of it happening in the iris household are about the same as Tom Cruise showing up to witness the birth )

Well, I've just eaten the most lovely pizza (a Dr Oetker speciale to be precise ) and am planning an evening of restrained grunting whilst I trim (and maybe even paint) my hooves. Supper for the boys to be made first though..........

Triggles · 06/05/2009 18:23

All this talk of growth charts - I haven't even looked at any. I just know DS is tall and skinny. I tend to avoid the HV, so he hasn't had any checkups recently. The one HV is a nut, so I try to avoid her in favour of the normal (sane) one.

johnworf · 06/05/2009 18:50

My MW said she'd done a home birth for a scientologist. She said it was errr....different

hedgepig I'm singing the supper of '69 now

mrsboogie · 06/05/2009 20:26

I think I mentioned before that when I was in labour this time I was told not to make any noise at the pushing stage as it is all wasted energy - felt a bit scientologyish to me.

Busy day at work -was chatting to a colleague in the lift and she was asking how D was getting on in the nursery. I said, half in jest, oh he seems to prefer to to being at home. Later, when we went to pick him up from the nursery he was all cosy with one of the nursery girls snuggled on her shoulder, looked at us both without even a flicker of a smile, then when I tried to take him he shrugged me off and clung to her. Twice

hedgepig · 06/05/2009 20:27

t'was the B side JW

wonderwitch I am very pleased it all looks OK.

jeanjeannie · 06/05/2009 20:30

Evening all.....*flops on sofa

wonderwitch bloomin marvellous news

jw 38AA... God lord, is that a real size?!

iris awwwww, your hormonal outburst over the pics was so sweet!

neddie Lovely to hear from you And one of each too, that is indeed German efficiency at its finest! Hope foals all arrive on schedule!

BTW where's our Berlin correspondant? Peachy....where are you???

hedgepig · 06/05/2009 20:56

MrsB she probabaly had a bit of cake stuck behind her ear he was trying to get at .
Seriously it's hard when you have to work, 99.9% of you wants them to be happy but a teeny little bit wants them to cling to you that is until they do cling to you at drop off in the morning and then you leave the room sobbing. I'm stating to think about going back to work in September and it is going to be really tough. Are you working 5 days now?

heron22 · 06/05/2009 21:00

i am dreading what would happen to my boobs once i stop BF. jw sorry about the AA! i thought only batteries come in AA.

wonderwitch so happy at your good scan

i am so shattered today. and just fed up with being a mum. one of those days i think. am pumping milk now. getting sick of BF too. just want old body back. well, the one from 20 yrs ago! at least once i stop BF then i can properly diet. well, thats the idea anyway!

on the good side, LO is thriving, he is now 7.7kgs and measures 66cms tall! at 16 weeks.
tall and handsome says the biased mother!

cooked DS1 a lovely stir fried noodles with eggs, garlic, sweet corn, veg. it is so yum and he complained he does not like eggs

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 06/05/2009 21:05

heron poor you! i hate bf and loathe pumping but do both anyway.
stopped 10 days ago and am waiting for the weight to drop off but have gained a pound

boobs look much nicer though!

johnworf · 06/05/2009 21:10

Welcome to the world of shrivelled up husk boobs heron no batteries there I'm afraid. I'm not even sure it's a real size myself. I never had AA even in a training bra. If they shrink any further, DH will have bigger ones than me

mrsb don't take it to heart. Of course he prefers his mummy to some fly by night nursery nurse. She probably gave him something nice 5 minutes before you got there or like hedgepig said, cake behind the ear trick You're just feeling the old guilt trap that all mums (and mebbe some dads) feel.

OP posts:
mrsboogie · 06/05/2009 21:38

I am 5 days now hedgepig and I am 99.9% glad that his face lights up when we take him into the nursery in the morning - I would hate it if he cried and didn't want to be left (although I know that's normal and only lasts until you have disappeared from view) but I'm thinking surely its not too much to a get a glimmer of recognition when you pick them up of an evening?

Still, a month on the Xens today and 16lbs lost!

jeanjeannie · 06/05/2009 21:49

Oh wow mrsB 16lbs Blimey, you and jw will be talking not just AAs but size zeros if all this weight keeps sliding off! Hahaha perhaps we could create a whole new 'virtual' MNetter out of the lost lbs...!!

And I'm with hedgepig on the cake behind ear trick. I'm sure you'd feel much worse if he was howling like a banshee every morning. Aww, bless him...they're just all new friends to him!

Hate to say it but i don't think BF is to blame for odd norks apres babies - I think it's just the sheer growth they go through in such a short space of time. I've seen some really wrecked boobies that a baby has been nowhere near....yet, I have a couple of mates who've got great boobs and BF 2 DC. I think it's like stretch marks.....luck of the draw. I've got lashings of cellulite yet not one stretch mark and no crepe-paper type tummy skin. Win some / lose some. I just need a bloody good bra. Lost count of the times i've gone out and realised that I've fogotton to hook up my strap and have one boobie flapping by my belly button

BED!! OOooo, hot choccy first me thinks.

johnworf · 06/05/2009 22:27

Brilliant news mrsb! I've lost 2lbs this week but think I've been going through my plateau phase as it's been hard going. Hopefully things will now pick up.

I'm still in size 14's with a comfy fit so may be a bit longer until the 12's but I'm fine with that As long as I can get in the dress I've now got for the non-christening thats' ok. However, and you may not believe this, the shoes that I originally bought have suddenly gone too big for me I bought my usual size 7 and tonight tried them on as they've not been out of the box yet......too big! My feet have shrunk as well. Mebbe feet and boobs are in cahoots

JJ I've got all the lovely things that you haven't; crepe belly, saggy boobs that have been to there and back again. However, not one bit of cellulite and only a few wrinkles on the old face. Like you say, luck of the draw.

Good Morning All,

Thank you for your well wishes xxxx

feeling a lot better today and actually spelt quite well last night, mind you I was exhausted.

Have you heard the latest??

Heard it on GMTV....

Women who suffer morning sickness during pregnancy may be more likely to have a child with a high IQ, according to new research

www.telegraph.co.uk/health/healthnews/5286670/Morning-sickness-increases-the-chan ce-that-child-will-have-high-IQ.html

What a load of twaddle lol

Wonderwitch · 07/05/2009 08:06

Oh my goodness me... think I meant slept... not spelt, mummy mush brain strikes again lol

ermintrude13 · 07/05/2009 08:39

Wonderwitch that means my DC must be bloomin' geniuses, because I've always had sickness up until the bitter end. And I always thought they were clever because of ME!

mrsb and JW your weight loss is fab, so good you're sticking at it and getting results. My feet 'lose weight' when I do too - half a size difference. Some shoes I have to have a little insole in the toe to deal with fluctuating size...

JJ agree that breastfeeding gets a bad press in terms of boobie reduction. I reckon that genetics, age and weight/exercise dictate how they're going to end up. Last two times mine have bounced back to a perky 34C and I'm hopeful it will happen again. My belly, however, has never lost its very first post-natal wobble.

hedgepig lol @ cake behind the ear. I'll look out for that

iris66 · 07/05/2009 08:45

wonderwitch - glad you had a better night's sleep . Hope your ankle goes down soon too.

I'm staggered about the IQ "findings" .Where do they find the funding for this kind of pointless research? and what are they hoping to achieve? Will women be given something to "make their unborn children brainier" and, ergo give them morning sickness? It's as damaging as an article I recently read suggesting that alcohol in pg increases intelligence in boys but is detrimental to girls

Additionally, there was a similar piece of research a while ago suggesting that children born by CS were less able to cope with stress in later life!! How much paranoia do they want to create FGS???

.........sorry - rant over (I've never been particularly good humoured in the mornings )

On a brighter note I have lovely soft pretty hooves this morning (after much grunting and groaning last night) I just wish the weather was better so I could show them off in flip flops. It's really cloudy and cold here.

And huge congratulations mrsb - 16lb! wow. Well done! How long do stay on your tablets for? Is it until you get to a certain weight?

jj I almost feel embarassed that I've no stretch marks but, as you said, it's genetic isn't it. Though a MW did mention to me once that age does play a part and that every one of the teenage mums that she'd seen had horriffic stretchmarks everywhere. She said that she'd always wanted to make a collage of pictures of their bumps to send round the schools to put girls off getting pg (the vanity angle would work well I feel)[evil grin emoticon]

Have a friend coming with her children to play and stay for lunch later so I'd better get a wriggle on. have a lovely day all

iris66 · 07/05/2009 08:48
  • apparently your predisposition to getting stretchmarks is all to do with the amount of collagen in your skin BTW (pointless fact but just thought I'd add it)
