tee I've probably just freaked your DH out with the message I've just sent him. Ah well, I'm sure he knows I'm only joking You could all add my DH if you like. He'd love a load of hormonal women wanting to be his friend. Mebbe not.

Oh god......we went to Eureka! today and watched a talk (for kids) on space. DH kept on putting his bloody hand up for answers to questions. Then again at the end for the Q&A session. It was meant for under 10's but I was mortified that he kept going...hand in the air, jumping a little bit...'oooh me, pick me'. I'm sure he's lost the plot...or has a learning difficulties.

Not seen any telly tonight but DH has put on BG(no)T. Pile of poo it is too.

K's in bed, knackered. She's had a nice day I think. It's hard to tell with babies isn't it? Weird that she's 1 but is still little. I'm sure that in 3 years or so, she'll be the same as all the other kids of her age.

HV cancelled her visit today and instead, we have her on Monday -if she makes it. Take your time, love.

The world has just shrunk now that 'we are family' on FB

mrsboogie · 28/05/2009 22:08

my OH refuses to do any facebook type malarkies I'm afraid, so can't offer him to you ladies. He can be a bit Victor Meldrewish for a 28 year old.

jw I think its great that your DH showed an interest and asked questions - good example to the little 'uns!

Glad to hear K had a good day as far as can be ascertained! I bet the big lolly was the best bit!

D has his 8 month check tomorrow. Its early so no lie in for me! now why did I do that?

hedgepig · 29/05/2009 06:51

morning after a minor blip a 4am O slept until 6am (this must almost counts as sleeping through.
Tee any more rumblings?? And Teb TV is not too brill today so maybe this afternoon would be good, give you a chance to get a hair-do this morning

hedgepig · 29/05/2009 07:06

woops Tab not Teb

iris66 · 29/05/2009 07:10

morning all

hedgepig - got any tips to get me back to sleep?

oooh I feel so popular [swishes hair around in film starry way pausing, briefly, to pout a la Posh Spice towards all in the vicinity] (and they say fame changes people.....)

DH decided last night that we need to get back used to sleeping in the same bed before my mum arrives on thu. Needless to say i didn't sleep well, got up at 5.30 after an hours tossing & turning (well, grunting & rolling like an elephant ) and he's still blasting out the zeds

Gorgeous day here though - the washing machine's swishing away and I'm just about to bung some bacon under the grill mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

johnworf · 29/05/2009 07:30

iris sorry, I missed the sleeping arrangements pre mum visit. Where were you beforehand?

No problems sleeping at this end. My eyes closed at precisely the same moment as head touched the pillow. Veeeeeeeeery tired y'day. It's my age

hedgepig I'd say that O is def getting the hang of this sleeping malarky and before you know it, the small waking at 4am will soon be forgotten Well done O

mrsb hope all runs smoothly with D's check up. I'm sure all will be fine with him as he's coming along in leaps and bounds! Def A* Ours is Monday so you'll have to refresh my memory on the things they do. It's been a long time for us both since our last ones hasn't it? Why did you book it so early anyway? Are you a mad woman?

JJ I think that praps we got our OH's from the same website that caters for the more...hmm...how do I put this one.....eccentric man?

Going to pick up DS#2 later this morning and DSS is off to his mother's house this weekend so in the times that K is asleep, myself and DH get a little bit of time to ourselves. A novelty! I'm thinking of picking up a barbeque now that patio is finished and the weatherman is telling me that the weekend is going to be nice. Do I have the only DH that isn't interested in lighting a BBQ and cooking black food on it? He says he can't be arsed Like I can

OP posts:
hedgepig · 29/05/2009 07:56

Iris a baby is always a good way to sleep better, you are so kn**red you could sleep on a pin.
Bacon sounds good, could you send me some? I have just had my porridge in the hope it will fill me up and reduce my snacking today.

iris66 · 29/05/2009 08:23

....enters carrying steaming plate of bacon butties to share - brown sauce anyone?

hedgepig that's my problem - the baby's not out yet and keeps waking me up playing bongos on my innards (it's clearly got far too much room in there - oh how baggy I must be )

jw DH was in DD's room (as she's at uni)with DS2 (who can't go in with DS1 as they keep each other awake).
Time alone with DH? - blimey! what will you do go on, get the barbecue - you've got to splat some ketchup on your new patio sometime! - you could have an intimate barbie for 2 - charcoaled chicken, candles, wine ahhhh

Good luck with the HV mrsb (and you're another who only looks about 30!!! - lovely photos btw )

Wonderwitch · 29/05/2009 08:41

Good Morning Ladies,

I cant believe it i slept from 11am until 8.15 a record for me, must have been all that too-ing an fro-ing from FB and here last night knackered me out.

Oooo bacon butty's yes please, can I have red sauce please?? yum yum.

iris66
DP and me also sleep in separate rooms, his snoring is so bad I would never get any sleep and at the mo i need to do anything to get any sleep, will be hard if we do have to go into a one bed and also at his parents but hey there's always a sofa I spose lol

Talking of mums, my mum is coming up from Dorset on Monday to stay for a few days to give me a hand packing and to be here for me... been feeling very alone as all my family and friends are quite away away, so really looking forward to seeing her

Hope you all have a wonderful day and you have the sun beaming as it is here

xxXxx

Tee2072 · 29/05/2009 08:43

Good morning all.

::helps self to bacon butty:: Thanks iris!!

Well, good nights sleep, no more cramping/contracting. Just one of those things, I guess. Lots of heartburn instead! My mum, bless her, keeps saying 'well, just don't eat those things that give you heartburn.' To which I reply 'I would, if it wasn't everything giving me heartburn!' Her last pregnancy was about 41 years ago, so I forgive her for forgetting things like that!

JW ooh, time alone with DH! How nice for you. I agree, buy a barbecue. Char some meat!

mrsb good luck with D's check up.

iris my DH and I haven't slept in the same bed for about 2 months. I wake up too much in the night. So when the PILs were here weekend before last it was torture sleeping together! Of course we'll be sleeping together again once baby comes! As for getting back to sleep, I do it by turning on a light and reading, or turning on my PSP and cruising the internet from bed!

Everyone have a lovely day. I am finally going to actually pack my hospital bag. And finish making up the cot and the Amby!

Neddie · 29/05/2009 08:52

Good luck with everything Tee I will be thinking of you and your really quick painless delivery of baby
ww glad you are getting some sleep and rest.
I am a mega snorer and poor DP is a very light sleeper- so at the moment we are in separate rooms too when he visits.

Re- squeezing out smaller babies last 2 were big so they have made a pathway but still not convinced I can manage 2 more at once- would like to wake up with them out (like all the foals so far this year).

Had a lovely conversation with DX yesterday- he actually thanked me for not taking DD2 to Germany. It was a bit sad- I miss him in a funny sort of way even if he was useless bless him.

iris66 · 29/05/2009 09:07

WW - fab news about the sleep - you obviously needed it. I didn't realise you were from Dorset btw. I used to live in Weymouth (sis still does) it's a lovely part of the country isn't it

Neddie - I can relate to your exDH comments. 'sfunny how they can go from being someone you love with a passion, to the vilest person on the planet, to someone who inspires merely distant, and an almost sad, affection

why oh why oh why...does your hair shrink the first time it's washed after a cut? I have the basin haired look of Dot Cotton circa 2000 - thank goodness I've a week to try to pull it longer

off to kill some bread to feed the ducks with

Wonderwitch · 29/05/2009 09:16

iris66

Im not from Dorset, My mum and Stepdad retired there a few years ago, I'm originally from Harefield in middlesex.
My Dad and Stepmum retired to Cyprus, so my family not that near

With your hair, maybe you should use colder water when you wash it as its obviously shrinking with too hotter water lmao, TBH I haven't noticed that with mine

Good luck with the bread killing hope it doesnt put up too much resistance lol

heron22 · 29/05/2009 09:55

morning all! what a gorgeous day!

anyone been to paignton? it is on the south west coast of england. looks nice for a family holiday

tee so close now the amby is quite easy to put together. i found the nuts that click in quite hard to push down. i remember putting it together when i was SOOO pregnant i had to stop to catch my breath every few minutes

Jeannie5194 · 29/05/2009 10:09

Morning all,

Ah snoring...my DP snores pneumatically so I have to wear ear plugs if either of us want to get any sleep as the noise keeps me awake and he has a disturbed sleep from me constantly digging him in the ribs. He's off to the sleep clinic next week to see what can be done - at this rate I can see him keeping baby awake, not the other way round!

Had my first MW visit yesterday. She checked my CO levels even though I've never smoked and said that they ask everyone constantly about domestic abuse these days as it takes the average victim until the 35th time of asking to admit it. What a world...

When I had DS we had the Domino MW sytem here so that the MW who did all of my ante natal appointments and parentcraft classes also delivered him. Due to the expense involved this system no longer exists so it'll be potluck at the Maternity Unit this time. Such a shame - it was a brilliant system.

She has recommended NCT antenatal classes. Any views? And she said that that there are stacks of fabulous 40s having offspring in my area. Hurrah!

I'm afraid I'm terribly addicted to FB. Would love any of you who feel like it to add me. I'm Jean Davison on the Newcastle network. Just realised there are 3 Newcastle Jean Davisons on there - I'm the brunette not drinking alcohol through a straw (I could kill a Singapore Sling ) but I am against a yellow background with a clock on the wall (I was at work )

Meeting my best friend for afternoon tea today and will break the news to her today - I'm not sure what kind of reaction I'll get - shock and horror I'd guess...

Tee2072 · 29/05/2009 10:15

jeannie I just sent you a friend's request!

JW what did you say to my DH on Facebook? He has yet to tell me!

ermintrude13 · 29/05/2009 10:22

Hello all

Too much to properly catch up, but I remember Katherine, her dad and her bro all eating with identical expressions, several peoples' DHs longing for female friendship on facebook and something about bacon sarnies.

DC have gone swimming with friends and won't be back till 3 - hurray - so I'm going to waddle to the Co-op to buy stuff to make DH's birthday brownies. Someone's DC has a bd tomorrow too - is it one of your girls JJ? Looks like we'll have the weather for it.

I am sooo out of breath just from climbing stairs and ankles will be swollen tonight from the heat but no signs this baby is going to show itself early - grrr.

I'll bring a plate of brownies in later

Jeannie5194 · 29/05/2009 10:27

Tee Thanks for that. Your bump is beautiful!

My, are we adding DHs on FB these days?! My poor thing wouldn't know what to do with friend requests from a load of hormonal women though secretly I'm sure he would love it!

He is fussing over me so much already and groping my flabby tummy - God knows what he'll be like when I actually have a bump rather than just looking fat! And he's talking about getting a puppy for the children next spring and to keep me company whilst I'm on maternity leave - I think he wants me barefoot and pregnant til I'm 60...

johnworf · 29/05/2009 10:45

jeannie you're really taking me back in time now by talking about the Domino System! Lordy, I remember it well. Didn't know they'd got rid of it but doesn't surprise me as it actually worked!

lol @ ermintrude of dh, dss and k all with same expressions. Yes! They do.

hedgepig did you win your tripp trapp? Just remembered that you asked me last night.

jeannie my ex married name was also Davison. Glad to get rid of it due to wrong spellings of either Davidson or Dawson Now lumbered with one that no one gets right! Fab. Will find and add you

tee I think I might have come over as praps stalker-ish. But I did add I was only j/k. I think I did........oh lordy. Poor man

OP posts:
iris66 · 29/05/2009 10:54

Well I don't think anyone had been to feed the ducks today - they nearly took our hands off!!! It's absolutely beautiful out - DS2 picked me a load of daisies on the way (aww) but then punched DS1 in the face when he tried to get in on the act (perhaps not so "aww" ).

Jeannie I've added you too My DH is an utter Victor Meldrew and thinks I'm a complete saddo to even go on MN let alone FB (this from a man who would happily play computer games on his own, for hours, given the opportunity )

ermintrude - I've started to get swollen ankles now too. Not pleasant is it How long have you got to go? (5 weeks here) The brownies sound lovely - can't wait I seem unable to avoid Somerfield's vanilla & chocolate cheeesecake at the mo. I get dragged into the shop and one leaps into my hands whenever I'm passing

Tabitha- you're late! You know you have to post every day so that we don't worry [mother hen emoticon] are you ok? Any sign of babytab making an appearance? - I'm getting so excited on your behalf (annoying I know - sorry)

duchesse · 29/05/2009 10:55

Heron- re Paignton- It depends on what you want from a family holiday. Paignton has the zoo, waterparks and the usual amusement arcades, and gets very busy in summer. There are other very different places around here. Sidmouth or Budleigh Salterton for example are lovely and gentle but not masses to do apart from beaching it or walks on the cliffs. Lyme Regis has masses of fossils and the French Lieutenant's Woman connection. Dawlish and Exmouth are beautiful and popular but not too tacky. North Devon has long sandy beaches and plenty of places for surfing as well as amusement arcades, piers and the usual seaside stuff. Tell me what sort of a place you're looking for and I'll see if I can point you in the right direction.

Tee2072 · 29/05/2009 11:09

Okay, someone kick me in the ass and tell me to run up the road to Tesco so I have something to eat for lunch! I can't seem to get out of my PJs today!

And, no. I still haven't packed my hospital bag.

jeanjeannie · 29/05/2009 11:34

Hello all - just flying in before I pick up Iris. Been into town with Verity and I'm packing to leave for Notts tonight.

ermintrude yes, it's Verity's first birthday tomorrow!

jw I think we may have got the more eccentric man indeed How the heck did that happen? Not sure I put that in my wish list! Love that pic with the sarnies....all of them are sat right there with each other....and yet, they're all in their own worlds!

OK - may be able to check in later. Bye bye xxx

mrsboogie · 29/05/2009 11:38

hullo all - any bacon sarnies left??

Back from the docs - there wasn't much to it jw - she gave him a quick once -over of eyes, ears, chest and tummy etc and then asked me if he could support himself, make noises and grab things. Upon receiving an answer in the affirmative she pronounced him "perfect" and that was it. Didn't seem to be a case of passing or failing. I was expecting him to be asked to pick up small things and sit up for her but nope. Easy peasy! Didn't mention height or weight either although that is hv territory I suppose.

As soon as we walked in the door he smiled at her and she recognised his smile from when we were in 2 months ago getting my Xenical. She said he is the smiliest baby she has ever seen

Oh and I was not asked about whether I was being beaten or depressed.

So that's it til the 12 month boosters.

A scorcher here!
