Morning All.

What a glorious day.

Tee - if it makes you feel any better, my bags are only half packed and with no actual clothes in there - I am really stuggling for stuff that will:
a) Fit post birth
b) Not rub on my C-section scar and
3) Be easy access for breastfeeding
I will either be in nighties the whole time in hospital or in vests and a sarong - unless I manage a shopping trip next week.

Also - the babies room is still not painted as DH did his back in last week.

We have the white plastic chairs too Hedgepig. How I long for some lovely wooden garden furniture (and a garden that would be worthy of them - ours is a small jungle).

JJ - Hope you are having/had (depending on when you read this) a lovely time in Nottingham this weekend and a belated Happy Birthday to Verity. I think there might be some stuff going on in parks this weekend (Brass Bands? - The city council website has details of what is on. I actually love Brass Bands, something to do with being taken to see them when I was tiny. I fact I have to be careful, as I have been known to well up when watching one .

Emintrude - Nice to know another Nottingham over 40. You sound like life is very busy with your 2 soon to be 3, but maybe once we have both got used to the sleep deprivation of our next arrivals we could meet up for tea and cake? Have you been to The Walk? Lovely cafe/tearooms off Fletcher gate which does the best cakes and proper tea in mismatched porcelain. Hope I am not being previous? But I didn't do any of the ante natal classed etc this time round, so won't know many people in the same boat.

JW - Lol at your DH's idea of suitable attire for the hospital. I also think your plan of action for today sounds perfect. Belated Happy Birthday to your LO too!

Tabitha8 - Sympathy on the discomfort of the baby moving. Makes me shout out loud sometimes (was really great in meetings at work before i started Mat Leave . Used to really scare any men in the meetings who all used to look as if i was about to go into labour that minute. When are you due?

Wonderwitch - Good luck with sorting out benefit claims etc. Hope they get processed quickly.

Ok I was hoping to do a better catch up, but DD is next to me and starting to rack up the whinging due to lack of attention.

Hope everyone has a lovely relaxing and sunny weekend .

ermintrude13 · 30/05/2009 09:36

Hedge well, it's a popular birthday on this thread; JJ's Verity celebrates her bd today too!

I didn't leave my babies overnight till they were well over a year old and even then only for the odd night with work, leaving them with DH. And I hated it! But I know people who go off for weekends away with their partners and leave teeny babies with granny. It seems linked to whether or not one is breastfeeding, logically enough - and I guess the ones that leave tiny LOs and the ones that don't seem pretty alien to one another .

JW DH has been having a slow, gadget-fuelled midlife crisis since hitting 40, but since he's about to become a father again he's keeping it under control. He has managed to justify upgrading his work mobile to an i-phone, which he takes to bed and strokes. He's just worked out how to produce fart noises from it so he and the DC had great fun this morning. I suppose it's a form of second childhood, although he never really seems to have left the first one behind entirel .

Glad K isn't bothering to play with thoughtful gifts when there's all that paper to rip - go girl

ermintrude13 · 30/05/2009 09:39

x-post onehit. A meet-up once we've popped would be great. Don't know The Walk - am more familiar with a few places in Lacemarket which seem to be mostly full of students - but a new tea and cake venue is always welcome! I only did ante-natal with first DC and didn't fancy hanging out with loads of 25-yr olds this time around!

heron22 · 30/05/2009 10:03

morning all! what a glorious morning! i could get used to this!

i know we have been very lucky with our LO, who usually wakes up cooing and smiling at around 7 and does not scream and cry at all. i then feed him around 8am. anyway, 2 mornings ago, he started waking at 6.30 screeching! i went in to tap him on his chest and rocked him a bit. he calmed down but started again. so did this a few times. he calmed down a bit. but started again at around 7.15. at this point, DH and I are quite narky. DH eventually picked up LO, who was not hungry at all. in fact, he
just wanted out of his amby! i eventually fed him at quarter to 8. i swear as he was latching on, he gave me a most mournful look.

hedge so what you said about the room being too bright and waking up baby, i think that is the problem. i hate waking up to screeching baby!

other than that, it is a lovely morning have a great day everyone

heron22 · 30/05/2009 10:04

also, anyone had a look at chewton glen? it is on the homepage of mumsnet. ahh, what a gorgeous place for a family holiday! but SOOOO expensive. sigh.

Tee2072 · 30/05/2009 10:10

Okay, I did it. The bag is packed!!

I still need a few things, but for the most part? READY!!

ermintrude13 · 30/05/2009 11:07

Go Tee! And now - relax

iris66 · 30/05/2009 13:26

Hi all - I'm back and OMG I spent sooooooooooooooo much money . (I blame my hormones - and the fact that there were no shops selling childrens stuff that I could splurge in - it was just me, me me !! ) will do links after grabbing some lunch.

jw - knew the "bang on trend" would get you going

Tee - about bloody time too!! - we can all rest easy now you're packed

mrsboogie · 30/05/2009 13:41

aaaarghghggh waaaaaahhh

/stomp

boiler has just died and tonight is our is Special Grown Up night out (that had to be postponed from last month when I had the lurgy ) and now I can't have a shower or wash my manky hair unless I do it in cccccold water...

Tabitha8 · 30/05/2009 14:00

JJ A bikini body? Oh, what a lovely idea. I haven't had one of those since....... Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever had one. Hmm. (Tabitha goes off to consider liposuction for her birthday).
Tee It's difficult to know what to pack for a hospital bag - it's like packing for a mini break.
Hedgepig Love the idea of a winceyette knighty. What would he look like? He'd certainly be cuddly.
Onehit I have to pop tomorrow at the latest or it's a c-section on Monday (I turned down the kind offer of an induction ).

johnworf · 30/05/2009 14:18

Oh no tabitha. So this is your last weekend as a free woman?! Enjoy dear

mrsb it's a conspiracy. I blame the government. They probably knobbled your boiler on purpose. You being a civil servant and all. I'm sure you'll wash your hair in cold water if it means you get a night out. Can't you wash it at MiL's and run round to yours to dry it (mind you, a day like today, it'll be dry before you reach the gate). Hope you have a lovely night though

iris am I really so transparent that you know how to get me going already? Hehe. I'm just a luddite really. Anything gets me going these days which is probably why I love Grumpy Old Women on the telly.

ermintrude aren't all men having some sort of crisis most of the time? My DD#1 has an Iphone and I think it may need surgically removing from her hand as it is constantly out and being used (for what, I have no idea). Hers has a pic of a gun on it and when you draw it like a gun, it makes a shooting noice When DD#1 showed this to my DH (at the time I was pleading with him for one), he said that we'd def not be getting one. So, I can only conclude from this that my DH is yet to start his MLC.

I've not been out with DH since K came out of hospital last September. On my own, I've been out 3 times but home before 11pm. I don't really enjoy socialising when I'm leaving her at home and feel tremendously guilty and really miss her and our little bedtime routine. I think this puts me firmly in the very sad and middle aged category

DD#1 has rung and texted me very early this morning to tell me that her new man was very nice - first date last night. However.....she ended up in A&E as she thought she'd broken her ankle but turns out to be a bad sprain. She cannot remember how she did this, nor can he. I can only assume memory loss is alcohol related. She also has a black eye You know that uhmmmmmmm sound that Marge Simpson makes? I have been doing it a lot this morning.

Tab no pressure then, if you can manage it go for a long walk, about 2 miles should get things moving

so we have friends comimg around at 3 for a B-B-Q, food is bought but nothing else has been done and DH is tending his veggie patch [hair pulling out emoction] and every time I put O down he wails! Well they are good mates so are not expecting too much!

JW sound like your DD had a good night, did she find her iphone or was it replaced?

johnworf · 30/05/2009 15:01

hedgepig DD#1 had insured her Iphone so thankfully (or not) it was replaced.

Great you're having a BBQ too I think just the two of us may have one - again - this evening. Nothing fancy, just more cow. I'm sure your friends will enjoy whatever you are cooking. All food tastes nice when it's done over coals, outside, sunny weather and nice company Can't help you with your DH and hair pulling though. Mine is weeding. I'll have all the grunting and groaning this evening about how his back hurts.

Poor O. K doesn't like this weather either. Especially at night. Too hot even with the fan on.

She won't sleep on her back anymore now that she can roll over. I've just looked in on her and she's on her front in her cot. She's on her front as soon as I put her down. I'm sure she'll be ok.

OP posts:
mrsboogie · 30/05/2009 15:22

we have only been out once or twice even with the willing grandparents close by, we don't have much of a bedtime routine though D was up last night at ten o'clock eating pizza and bits of salad off our plates. Will miss him tonight though but I think I will manage

I'm sure K will be ok JW she's the big oh one now! D couldn't turn in bed if he wanted to - no room!

well boiler is the dead - engineer's been and gone - needs new circuit board. Thank fcketty fck for British Gas and their Homecare thing. This is the second time it has expired and the repairs would have cost us a blimmin' fortune. OH is most relieved.

oh and ahem... errrr...he has just reminded me that we have an electric shower

/grabs towel and runs

johnworf · 30/05/2009 15:53

hahahaha @ electric shower. Doh!

At least boiler shall be fixed without huge bill to follow. Still a pain in the arse though. At least it's not middle of january which is when they usually go. Doubt you'll be needing any heating in the next few days!

I'm noting an absence of tee. Do you think her LO has decided to make an appearance as the weather is so nice?

OP posts:
Tee2072 · 30/05/2009 15:57

I'm here JW! I was sleeping!

I swear, I do one hours work and need to rest for 5 to make up for it! No wonder its taken me so long to pack the damn bag! Good thing I'm on maternity leave.

And LO shows no sign of appearing. It does, however, show lots of signs of being a wiggle worm! I swear it hasn't stopped moving all day!

johnworf · 30/05/2009 18:03

Has head started to engage yet tee?

OP posts:
iris66 · 30/05/2009 18:32

ok, just time to do links - will catch up properly later but I really need your advice ladies .....
so.... the dress is this one and today I bought this and this (just because I loved it) and this (because I thought it would look fab with the dress)

i got a wide 5 strand pinky, amethyst choker thing from East too that has a green flourite and gold sparkly centre but don't know whether to go with that or this necklace (a similar one of which I also bought from Phase Eight but with white ribbon. What d'you think? all comments welcome

Tee2072 · 30/05/2009 19:32

iris I love the dress! I don't think the shrugs go, however. A shawl would be better. Oh and the plain pearl necklace and the great ring!

JW yes it has for sure. Well, its either that or something else is pushing down when I stand up!!

mrsboogie · 30/05/2009 19:35

oh, yes to all of it iris, fab and glam! very!

am all dolled up and waiting for taxi and the little man has gone off with grandma and grandpa, in their car with the new child seat, like a big boy with the Amby in the boot.

johnworf · 30/05/2009 20:19

mrsb hope you have a lovely night Does this mean they are having him overnight? So you get a lie in?

iris I'm with tee. I love the shrug and the cardi but I'd save them for another outfit. If it was me, I'd get a nice pashmina, possibly a gold or bronze colour

When you next at your AN clinic tee? If head is fully engaged then I would think they'll start talking about delivering you as you could go into labour anytime if baby is fully down.

I'm in my pj's watching britain's got no talent. DH has watched it every night this week mrsb could I gatecrash your party please otherwise I'll have to start cleaning the oven or something

K is in bed, finally. Now she turns over onto her front in her cot and can get herself into position so that she can see you as you pass the bedroom door Anyway after much wailing, I stuck her in the car to get her to sleep. Ahhhhh. 5 minutes peace

I go on Tuesday, JW. And I will probably be getting a CS date. Unless baby decides to come before that, which would be fine with me! And with DH as I am turning into a bit of a, shall we say, difficult woman?
