wonderwitch I've just added you on FB. I think it's you anyway! Sorry to hear that you're having a really hard time of it It doesn't help that the hormones are all over the show and that you probably feel even more down. Still, as D-Ream said, 'things can only get better'. That motto has kept me going when I've been on my uppers in the past.

ermintrude aren't you passed the barfing stage now? Well you should be! Hate being sick. Makes me cry. Big baby that I am

I think you're right re Susan Boyle's learning difficulties. Would hate her to win as I think the fame and those in the fame game would not be a good influence on her.

JJ knew that Verity would come good and let mummy sleep when she needed it most Good girl.

We have to go and buy a new freezer as ours has finally died (RIP) so that'll be fun especially as DSS is off school so he'll be coming too.

Meant to say ermintrude that your DH and B&Q sounds like one of the Moral Dilemmas they used to have in the Garudian. Maybe he can write in although I would have grinned all the way home too....................

morning all

The little man is in bed and DP is gone to get new tyre as we had a puncture yesterday (I swear I will never get to see Castle Howard ) so I am at liberty to do housework mumsnetting.

Nope not back at work 'til tomorrow - it's a an extra holiday for us civil servants - Queen's official birthday! its fab!.

There has been an overnight easing of the runny bottom situation - a 12 hour gap overnight. Hurrah! It's still runny but the longer gaps are allowing his bottom rash to clear up. I am really hoping it will be even batter tomorrow or the nursery won't take him.

We had sleep to - went to bed at around 1am when Mr D had his last feed and he slept until 8am! that's nearly proper sleep!

wonderwitch I am so sorry that you are suffering at the moment. Its hard to know what to say that doesn't sound like a platitude. All I can say is that it helps to say over and over to yourself that "this will pass". Maybe in some ways it will be a release and a new start as the past few months must have been very stressful to you? It will pass and you will start again and everyone will be ok and in a few months you will be looking back on it. You must look after yourself though.

I will send you a fried request on fb.

jj good to hear you got some sleep also and are on the mend, sounds like you are run down though - being constantly tired is a killer on the immune system isn't it?

didn't really catch Susan Boyle although I saw flawless and there are absolutely brilliant. Amazing.

Wonderwitch · 26/05/2009 10:43

Am I the only person in the world who isn't on Facebook? I'm a huge technophobe. Emphasis on the huge at the moment .
Rubbish day today - pouring with rain.
Enjoy the scan tomorrow Neddie. Such fun seeing them.

mrsboogie · 26/05/2009 11:02

The mother has spent a fortune on cosmetic surgery herself and now looks an absolute freak - you'd think that'd be enough to put her off...

Tabitha8 · 26/05/2009 11:08

Tee2072 · 26/05/2009 12:17

whew that's enough before lunch nesting, me thinks!!

Big mystery: Bought 2 packages of 2 waterproof mattress pads. Should have taken four out of washer and hung up to dry, yes? Then why do I only have 3? I can't believe I wouldn't have noticed one missing when unwrapping, so what the hell did I do with the fourth one?!?!?

I'm on FB no problem, BTW, so not sure why others are getting a maintenance message!

mrsb Eww on Botox story. Heck, takes me 6 months to work up the will power to cover my grey!

WW Now that its in the news maybe your DH will get some assistance. One can only hope. And I keep wondering if the news about the economy can get worse and then I read something like that.

JJ glad the plague seems to be passing!

jeanjeannie · 26/05/2009 12:17

Hello all.
wonderwitch hi and gosh, I just read that link. It makes me seeth, all the innocent casulaties of banking malpractice...it's appalling. On a non-business level I hear they're still offering people 5+ times their salarys for mortgages...it's shocking. If people don't go under now just wait until interest rates have to rise. It makes me so sad. I am so, so, so grateful DP didn't change from sole trader status to a ltd company - or we certainly would have been clobbered

mrsB at botox...that's sick.

ermintrude I say YAY to inadvertantly picking up a bargin. And a big BOOOO to barfing up breaky Gosh - you've really been very stoic with this nausea..I would have been howling by now.

Just had a huge row with JO Jingles lady. Infact I#ve made a complaint. SHe totally had it in for the neck with Iris...long story but it ended up with me having it out with her - she grabbed Iris by the arm and dragged her away from a toy box and forced her to sit down and behave. SHe's 2.5 FFS!!!! You've got a dressing up box ...open...what do you think is going to happen?!! She scolded no one elses kids and just badgered Iris until other parents began to say stuff to me. Anyway- I'm sort of over it now...but i was upset when she said "there must be something wrong with her".. Off for a cup of tea and a calming read of the DM!!!

FloriaTosca · 26/05/2009 12:33

Hello Ladies!
Wonderwitch I hope you have been in touch with your MP too...it sadly is probably too late for your business(wheels of justice grinding exceeding slow and all that) but something there smells a bit fishy to me and it could help bring any wrong doers to justice.

Didnt see Susan Boyle myself...we had a bbq last night to bring round friends to help burn off all the shrubbery...(good time had by all)but having watched the first auditon a few times, once the surprise that someone who looks so unpreposessing should sound as good as she does has worn off, the voice is good but not exceptional...it really shouldn't surprise me, I've worked with people with great voices all my life and know that first in the queue for singing voice sometimes means last in the queue for grey matter. I used to work with a bloke who had a voice from heaven, good looking too, but a huge scar on his back from when he forgot other people were still practising at a county team javelin training session!!!
JW meant to phone you today..but Dh needed tending to...he had a migraine for the first time in his life...so I've been pootling about (on facebook) offering tea and sympathy and waiting for my migraleve to kick in so he could potter off to work (as he has just done). And now I see you are off fridge shopping (hoping fridge/freezer death is contagious...we have a 20 yr old one that keeps going ad infinitum...I want a big american style job...now!) so it wouldnt have been possible to meet up today anyway. I hope the shopping trip was super sucessful.

Off to make Alex his lunch now....oh and can someone please tell me that the low salt tortilla chips slathered in roast pepper houmus mil was feeding him last night are not too bad for him?

FloriaTosca · 26/05/2009 12:43

Oh JJ xposted (takes me ages to type)how dreadful for Iris and for you...what a horrible woman!I'm glad you have made a complaint...poor Iris!...I was going to enrol Alex in the local classes but must admit that sort of story is making me think twice.

onehitwonder · 26/05/2009 12:49

Hi All

Hope everyone had good bank holidays!

JJ - good to hear you had a good nights sleep! Everything seems so much better after that.

Ermintrude - pants that you are still being sick. But very very re: the bargain garden furniture.

Tee - I am also nesting heavily here, DH got all our baby stuff down from the loft on Friday, so I have been washing the moses basket bedding, sleepsuits and tiny tiny socks. It makes it all seem more real somehow.

Am very very excited as I bought my first ever dishwasher yesterday . I can't believe I have survived this long without one. I have been saving for ages - my work bonus, birthday money and my health in pregnancy grant (sod buying veg - this beauty is going to save my sanity!).

I am really trying to make the most of the last few weekends with just the 3 of us. We took DD to a free concert on Saturday in Nottingham city centre (via Pizza Express where DD was loving her bambinocino), an outdoor clubbing thing on Sunday afternoon (we left before it got loud and messy) and then a picnic yesterday.

The one thing I am not doing is putting my feet up - but work has been forgotten already, so I am relaxed.

ermintrude13 · 26/05/2009 13:14

JW I think what surprised me about my DH was that he realised the mistake as it was being made and said nothing. I can imagine handing over the maestro card without listening or working out the total and then realising it's wrong once I'm in the car, but he knew . He said something about 'if their staff can't add up...' and had been passed from one member of staff to another for ages so thought it was payback time. Anyway, I haven't insisted he take it back and own up .

I thought the barfing had just about stopped. Odd that it was in the morning though - am v hopeful that it's pre-labour but know deep down it isn't. Anyway, shopping was exhausting so DD and I had to have a Gregg's sausage roll which seems to have stayed own - maybe wholemeal toast, orange juice and a banana were too healthy for me to hang onto.

...and sounds like JJ wouldn't have done either. Can't believe the Jo Jingles woman. They're not trained to work with children, just to wail along to a tape. My DS used to just bang pipes with a couple of other naughty boys (I did stop him) because they found that more interesting. Hope your Words were strong.

Wonderwitch I heard about how the banks had been handling their loans - it was on the Today prog this morning - and although it's no surprise it's absolutely maddening. Bankers and consultants screwing money out of businesses with no come-uppance. My DH says that most consultants are paid a fortune to steal your watch and tell you the time.

Tabitha I don't facebook, twitter, bebo, myspace or anything else. Good old-fashioned email and a browse of websites is enough for me, none of this new-fangled nonsense that's here today and gone tomorrow. bah humbug!

MrsB will you be raising a toast to her majesty tomorrow to thank her for your day off?

Floria lol @ the javelin story. Umm - how did you get to see his back? Just trying to think of well-known nudey male opera roles

ermintrude13 · 26/05/2009 13:15

ps onehit didn't know you were in Nottingham - I'm in West Bridgford

jeanjeannie · 26/05/2009 13:51

LOL@ the javelin story too! Yes, were you sneaking around the men's dressing room then...

onehit I can understand your excitment- I got my first ever dishwasher this time last year - just days before Verity arrived. Oh I LOVE it. What I don't like though is loading it all up - going to bed and then hearing DP muttering, crashing and banging and re-arranging all the dishes saying under his breath something about women and zero spacial awareness

I'm in Nottingham this weekend for Verity's first birthday...my parents are in Chilwell. No doubt we'll make a trek into town. Not sure when Gay pride is at the arboretum - but Iris enjoyed last years very much Free concerts sound great - Oooo, we didn't get that in my day, just a load of goths hanging around the Lions!

FloriaTosca · 26/05/2009 13:59

lolErmintrude...I'm sure you know that many directors will use the flimsiest of artistic reasons to have the cast and chorus get their kits off (controversy gets publicity and voyeurism puts bums on seats)..as it happens almost every seafaring themed opera seems to get the men of the chorus with a hint of a six pack in only half a costume;Peter Grimes, Billy Budd, FlyingDutchman spring to mind...and the sight of the likes of Simon Keenleyside climbing rigging barechested got just about the whole of the 'resting'female chorus along to watch rehearsals at sometime or another ...and made sight of a javelin scar on a chorister hardly worthy of comment

ermintrude13 · 26/05/2009 14:13

Floria I just hope the late Pavarotti wasn't involved in any naked shenanigans, The TV version of La Boheme when he was playing the poverty-stricken Rodolfo in all his fleshy glory (and a rather nice velvet cape I think) . I have heard that Lesley Garrett will flash her buttocks at the slightest provocation...

ermintrude13 · 26/05/2009 14:14

Accidentally deleted the 1st bit of my 2nd sentence and it was tremendously witty but I can't quite remember how it went...

FloriaTosca · 26/05/2009 14:44

I was only on stage with the humungous late great voice once...Pav was definately not naked thank heavens...I'm a fan of the larger fella (need to be as I'm a large lass myself) and am married to an ex rugby player, but that bloke was huge ( 6ft 2ish tall and at least as wide)I can't imagine many would have paid more than they already did to see him unclothed.
There are a lot of lesser "stars" who will expose themselves for fun(or publicity) La Garrett amongst them, that pose of her draped upside down over a piano is what brought her out of the doldrums into the spot light (don't blame her in the least,if it would do any good I'd go on a diet and do it myself!) ...and I've never seen the current tenor of choice Jose Curra without him displaying the magnificence of his thighs and buttocks to best advantage at every opportunity (thrusting dramatically over Scarpias desk in tight buckskins in Tosca or accidentally exposed(oiled up) when thrown down some steps in a loin cloth as Sampson)
People who think opera is boring just aren't going to the right productions

Neddie · 26/05/2009 16:35

Hi all
There is a pic on my profile of Langustino (latest foal). He is staying as a replacement for when my big stalion goes to the great paddock in the sky(that'll mean 15 horses again). I am on myspace but haven't posted for about a year- I haven't got the time or inclination as I have a busy real life (oh hark at me Paris Hilton socialite that I am).
I am currently applying for jobs on behalf of my DP with a recruitment agency. I am desperate for him to be here now and I am just applying for anything with a decent salary. I tried to get him on to Ladders Recruitment but they want to charge you and I was told that was illegal so I have gone to Reeds instead although you really need to trawl through a lot of dross before you get to anything worthwhile.

Tee2072 · 26/05/2009 16:53

Beautiful baby horses neddie! Good luck finding DP a job. Its not easy out there.

ermintrude13 · 26/05/2009 17:33

Have you had any more news about your DH's job situation, Tee?
