just expressing milk now and will take LO out to garden to enjoy this weather. picnic lunch and picnic dinner !

jeanjeannie · 24/05/2009 11:07

Morning all!

Wow - the sun is SO fabulous for lifting the spirits!

wonderwitch Sounds to me like this IS the worst bit.....everything else that comes after will be the building back up process
Good to hear the sun is shining on you too - mind you - you're only really down the road from me, at the top of Bucks...we're down in the south west bit!

Mouth news RANT: Well, we tried for an out-of-hours appointment facility held at the hospital and they couldn't book us in there and then. The bloke there said they had loads of appointments and gave us the number. We rang and the fascist nurse on the phone totally refused to give DP and the girls an appointment but would give me one She asked DP "tell me why I should give you one?" I was seething. She was making a BIG deal about him and the girls having a very foriegn name and me not. She was 'suspicious' of his motives She even spoke to DP who she probably thought was some Serbian/Polish immigrant even though he's home counties born and bred and has almost 1930s style recieved pronuciation!! So I cancelled my appointment - had more than a word with the bloke at reception who was now open mouthed in shock as was the doctor standing next to him. I mean they looked mortified. So that's it - we were totally refused any help

Wedding news: It was wonderful! Lovely venue, kids everywhere, screaching and playing. Iris has a ball and both girls availed themselves of the chocolate fountain and had no sleep till we put them in the car at 10pm!! I drank champagne...lots

jw have a lovely, lovely NC! Enjoy the day, enjoy the sun, enjoy the patio and enjoy the CAKE xxx

Tee2072 · 24/05/2009 11:52

JJ Wow. I do hope you are going to make a formal complaint about that. And maybe write a letter to the paper. That is unbelievable. That woman should be fired.

Tabitha8 · 24/05/2009 12:12

JW Thinking of you and the NC. The weather here is really fab; hope it is where you are.
HF DH and I went to see doc before TTC as, for anyone over 40, they'll do simple fertility tests straight away. Like FloriaTosca said, though, your SiL has probably done this already. DH and I did the "temperature method" and it worked perfectly for us. All we needed was a digital thermometer.

Tabitha8 · 24/05/2009 12:14

JJ If that were me, I would've taken DP and the girls with me to the one appt...

mrsboogie · 24/05/2009 12:21

morning all

What a beautiful day. We are hoping to take a trip out to Castle Howard. Mr D still has diarrhoea - 5 days now and his bottom is very sore despite copious applications of Metamian. He has been on soya milk since yesterday - couldn't get a doctor's appointment until next Friday so couldn't just sit here and do nothing. If its not a bug then it must be his milk. If he is still like it on Tues I will ring up and demand an emergency appointment. Hope the soya milk does some good soon. He is absolutely fine and eating loads - just in agony when his nappy is changed

jj what. the.f*ck??? why on earth was this woman suspicious of your DP? I don't get it. That is surely an official complaint in the making. I'm stunned. Glad you enjoyed the wedding though and were able to partake of some medicinal champers!!

jw you won't read this but I hope the NC is going swimmingly with the sun shining down on your little miracle girl

tee which toybox did you get? You are sooo organised

wonderwitch I am glad that it has been a help to talk to us. I hope the benefits people can help - they must be coming cross people in your situation on a regular basis these days with all the businesses going to the wall at the moment. I know that they don't acknowledge a pregnancy until it is further on but it wouldn't hurt to bring a note from your doctor saying that you are pregnant. They may be able to make discretionary emergency payments to tide you over. You and your DP have been paying into this system all your lives so you are owed it!

heron glad you enjoyed last night -I am very much looking forward to ours next Sat...

Tee2072 · 24/05/2009 12:35

mrsb its not technically a toy box, but its this. I wanted something a bit nicer as it is living in the front room!! It will hold toys, but probably other assorted crap as well.

mrsboogie · 24/05/2009 12:37

I like that tee

D's toys are all and I have been looking for one over the place but toyboxes can be ridiculously expensive!

ermintrude13 · 24/05/2009 19:07

Isn't this sunshine fantastic? [smile}

JJ at the treatment you received. That woman must be in line for a serious talking to, who is she to bestow appointments according to people's surnames! A strongly-worded letter is in order, I feel. Glad you got to the wedding though.

MrsB poor little D and his sore bum . I'm not sure that lactose intolerance can lead to diarrhoea but I guess you have to try everything. My DS always got a very sore and runny bottom when teething, without showing any discomfort in his mouth , any chance it could be related to that?

Tee that's a very stylish assorted crap box . We now have an entire wall of shelves built by DH to house the numerous boxes of assorted crap toys, art materials and games the DC have accumulated over the years. But the smaller the child the larger the toy, so we'll be hard-pushed to integrate the new LO's baby things into the 'system'. Good job we have a loft...

mrsboogie · 24/05/2009 19:26

ermintrude thanks, yup, I had heard about the runny bottom with teething thing, and I did wonder, it just seemed that every bottle caused a liquid stinky nappy (sorry) and I thought rather than wait a week until we see the doctor I would try to eliminate the milk as he does have eczema too.

Can I ask how long this would last with your DS?

My DS1 was a symptomless teether so I have nothing to go on there!

happily the sore bottom is much better as we have been applying the matamian with a trowel.

mrsboogie · 24/05/2009 19:29

he has stated dribbling again though....

johnworf · 24/05/2009 19:48

quick post...baby on knee. posted some pics.

mrsb where are you going for your date night? it is so nice to go out sans kids. a reminder of us as a couple.

good to hear your LO's bottom is better.

heron22 · 24/05/2009 20:00

jw love that cake! it is gorgeous! and your family photos look great too

did you make the cake?

Tee2072 · 24/05/2009 20:14

JW just lovely! And the cake is fab!

mrsb hope his bottom keeps getting better. Poor little guy!

I like it ermintrude. I just with the top was hinged, it just sort of lifts off. I am thinking about adding hinges to it myself. DH looked like this when I suggested it. Then I reminded him that I am the handy one around here!

mrsboogie · 24/05/2009 20:25

oh wow jw fab pics you look great - tres jeune! and K looks like a princess

heron our nite out isn't 'til next Saturday!

johnworf · 24/05/2009 21:47

Hi all. Thanks for nice comments on piccies.

Day was good. The sun shone (lots). Far too much food though and I sent everyone home with a doggy bag. Full tummies and smiles though.

Boys got the frizby (sp?) out and had fun while the girls chatted. All over bar the shouting by 5pm so just putting my feet up after the LO's have gone to bed.

heron no way did I make the cake! Fraid cheated and bought it. Was almost a work of art and was very sad to cut into it.

Hope all you ladies have had a lovely day in the sunshine.

mrsb has D's bum recovered and the sickness abated?

Think it's coffee time then bed. Laters potatoes.

morning all

jw glad you had a fab NC day. The pictures are lovely and you both looked great in your new frocks . I think you've been fibbing though - you don't look any where near 40

mrsb sorry D still poorly but, if it's any consolation, DS2 gets really acidic nappies when he's teething badly. They rip his skin off . he's been battling to get 4 teeth through for about 3 months now. 2 have poked through but the other two are still causing a lot of grief. Lots of dribble here too so sounds like teeth for your LO

johnworf · 25/05/2009 08:04

lol. Thanks iris. It's amazing what several layers of Clinique can do to hide the ravages of time Most kind anyway.

Looks like another lovely one here again. I'm doing a flying visit to my mother later today. Don't see her often (by choice) but I think my sister has quite bad PND and I said I'd go and see her and try and persuade her to go and see her GP as she's refusing at the mo.

Have bad hay fever today and luckily remembered to get some anti-h's off the GP last week while my prescriptions are still free.

JJ wherefore art thou? Feeling better today?

FloriaTosca · 25/05/2009 09:36

JW Fab photos...lurve the outfit, you definately don't look like you even near qualify for this thread. Glad the day was a great sucess. Have a nice day with your Mum and sis...I hope you manage to get her to accept some help.

2nd quote for drying out our garden came through..the guy broke it down to materials and equipment hire for doing it ourselves or an additional £700 for him to do it for us...he's got the job! We are going to have a usable garden by Summer!!!!

ermintrude13 · 25/05/2009 10:06

JW lovely pics - both dresses look fab; K looks like a fairy (and mummy looks extremely stylish)

mrsb the sore bum could go on for days but I don't think it lasted more than a week - it's rather long ago now; I can't quite remember, bad mummy . I did find Bepanthan absolutely brilliantly effective having tried everything else under the sun. Hope poor D is fully recovered soon.

floria glad everything in your garden will soon be lovely. Inspired by yesterday's sunshine, we decided to get around to buying an outdoor table and chairs and have a little bbq - of course it's now a bit overcast. Better check the BBC weather before we go any further...

mrsboogie · 25/05/2009 10:22

its lovely here again - here's hoping we get a bit further afield than the park today...

Mr D still has the runs but the bottom is much better

although he wants seeing to now so must depart as quickly as I came...

Tee2072 · 25/05/2009 11:32

Good morning all.

Just spent 45 minutes unwrapping new baby clothes and separating for wash! The problem with not knowing gender is that almost everything is white or off white. Had so much actually am doing a white load and an off white load.

JW glad you and the princess had a good day. You both do look fab!

mrsb glad to hear bottom is better. Poor little guy!

floria very jealous of your garden. Its the one thing I don't like about living in the middle of the city!

Have a lovely day all!

duchesse · 25/05/2009 12:49

Hey all.

Lovely day yesterday, excellent for a christening , or a barbecue with friends. Some went home with sunburn I think.
