hedgepig · 08/04/2009 21:44

MrsB well done you too. I think I may have to get some of this stuff but no will power (we must be the only thread in pregnancy who are discussing diet drugs )

Bugger O has woken up again, I need a G&T

johnworf · 08/04/2009 21:59

hedgepig it's amazing the amount of self control you have when the threat of pooping yourself is there

Just had a very firm discussion with the young man who was attempting to let this flat out to my older DD. It's a dump. Shitsville. Horrible, horrible. No way is she living there and I've told him so. The electrics need condeming (so said the electrician we took with us), the gas appliances are over 2 decades old and there is moulding food in the kitchen and oven. Anyhoo, the weasly young man tried to pin it all on my DD (don't ask) so I put him straight. She has to work with this horrible person so I've also told him any repercussions in work and I'll have his hide on a slab. Ok, that's my work done. Just trying to find her a flat a) near to me b) in a decent condition and c) that she can afford. No mean feat I can tell you. Might have to sub her so she can get something nice....gawd that place....grrr...and there was a brothel next door, lots of young asian men in souped up cars outside the door and a bail hostel over the road!!!!! Ok, I'll stop now as I'm getting annoyed again.

I'll go and watch the rest of srallan and see what no hoper goes out tonight.

hedgepig · 08/04/2009 22:07

It must be quite and incentive JW

How crap for DD and how brill she has a great Mum to fight her corner. I rented for long time and (although never had anything with a brothel next door) some landlords are just taking the P* with the quality of what they are trying to let.

heron22 · 09/04/2009 08:46

morning all! dark and dreary here, hope the weather improves for the easter weekend!

how is everyone this morning? i went shopping yesterday, for some kind of light jacket. starting to be embarassing wearing the same fleece jacket to take DS1 to school every morning. so to make sure i do get something, i did not wear a jacket or coat when i went shopping yesterday.

i did get a fitted jacket which i think is very versatile, can go with jeans easy and can also dress it up.

so all in all, quite pleased
shocked at how big my boobs are, i tried on so many nice jackets but boobs too large, buttons wont do up. i really need to lose this weight. how do i do that while breastfeeding? will my milk supply suffer?

FloriaTosca · 09/04/2009 09:17

LadyM is baby here yet? Are you in labour as I type? I hope everything is going smoothly.

Glad you had a good day yesterday JW. Fab photo of you both!Wonderful that you got the flat checked out before your DD moved in...when I was a student 5 of us saw a house the right size, location and price just on the letting market and were promised that if we paid for it over the summer all the work that needed doing would be completed by the start of term...oh the innocence of youth...after a year of no heating with thick ice inside the windows(those that hadnt fallen out of rotten frames), rain coming in through the roof, a wiring system that couldnt cope with 5 fan heaters (or hair dryers)running at once, a tempramental lead piped plumbing system, mould in the kitchen cupboards and mice in the cellar..we learned! I hope you find the perfect place for your DD.

Off on a playdate this morning with all A.s little pals from baby massage (not that any of have been able to actually massage our los for about 12mths now!)...I shall have to quash my as almost all of the mums are expecting their second babies now ... I so wish I was too.(probably all the bereavement going on round us at the moment...I have the urge to fill the gaps)

Tee2072 · 09/04/2009 09:23

Morning all!

Sounds horrid JW. Glad you could be there for DD.

heron total crap weather here as well. And no predictions for anything nicer over the weekend.

As for me...totally exhausted and ready for my 5 day weekend! Of course, partly my own fault because I just had to stay up and watch The Apprentice last night!!

Tee Oooo staying up for the apprentice, you are living dangerously

does any one understand why babaies are up at the crack of dawn and then asleep again by 9:30????

Floria have a lovely meet-up.

ermintrude13 · 09/04/2009 10:24

hedgepig babies do that sleeping in the morning thing so that your friends who come for coffee say - ooh, a good sleeper, aren't you lucky? - while you slump over the kettle with matchsticks holding up your eyelids

JW Ooh, I can think of some landlords I'd like to introduce to you! When my mum saw my first student house in Toxteth - no heating, dodgy wiring, slugs in the kitchen, damp etc - she got out of there as fast as possible and left me and my mates to it before she had a fit. The woman next door came to say hello and when she saw my mum's face she said, 'Don't worry love, they won't get burgled; round here is where the robbers come from.' Which was reassuring. I loved that house and we only had the one rat incident.. .

Floria hope you have a nice social and don't get too envious. Think of the nausea and varicose veins....

heron22 I lost weight while breastfeeding, just by eating v healthily. You don't need to have a strict diet as such, just don't eat anything sweet, fatty or yummy and have loads of worthy fresh stuff. I ate a LOT of cake 1st time around but when DC2 was a couple of months old I cut out all the unnecessaries. It's the same as when you're not b/feeding really... Third world women with inadequate food for themselves breastfeed successfully; the babe will get all the nutrients if you eat a modest balanced amount. It's bloomin' boring though...

Tee2072 · 09/04/2009 10:37

I know hedgepig total party animal, that's me!

Have fun floria!!

Morning all - does the cleaning ever end? The chalk from the garden is everywhere Grrrrr

ladymac Come on - you can do it - before Easter Sunday would be nice! Love the fact you pootled off to the park with contractions....no hurry then! Hope it's all going well and you're pacing around the living room, planning where to pop. xxx

jw pleased you had a lovely time - you really do look very sleek indeed AND Mmmm, good on you for telling potential landlord to stuff it. I thought the days of rat infested, pits of dispair were over. I do believe it's also highly illegal these days to let out a flat without a boiler certificate.....dodgy b*stard

heron hate to tbe the bearer of bad news but I lost weight everywhere apart from my BOOBIES! Oooo, I've not done one of those for ages! I went from a 34b - to a 38F cup Back to a 34D now and still BF 10mth old - so there is hope!

floria have a lovely playdate with A

hedepig no idea at all about baby sleep patterns - Verity continues to confound us. Although last night we put up a dark blanket over the window - she slept all night till 7am

Have no energy to go out today - friend is coming over with the Usbourne books I bought, so that'll break up the day.

OK - MORE cleaning.

heron22 · 09/04/2009 11:04

ermin ur right about third world women breastfeeding successfully. ah, must cut down on the pies and cakes

jj must be nice to lose weight everywhere but boobs! was your OH pleased?

the apprentice! too late for me, way past my bedtime! i do record it and watch it during the day!

johnworf · 09/04/2009 11:06

JJ yes I know he was breaking the law and I pointed it out to him over the phone.

Anyhoo, what a difference a few hours make as I was in the local estate agents at 9.15am this morning and we're viewing a lovely property literally 5 minutes walk from me. She's seen it on the website and is thrilled so we have a date with the agent at 4.30 today.

floria glad you're off out and A is socialising. If only we had an as exciting diary as our LO's huh?

Weather is pants here. Rain, damp and chilly. No plans for today apart from flat viewing.

hedgepig K is the same. She wakes up between 6-7am and is back in her cot by 8am! How can you get tired from eating your b'fast?

ermintrude I now Toxteth and have stayed there many years ago with student friends. It's a dump and probably still is. Seems those kinds of properties do exist (I've proved they do). DH was telling me that he used to work for a private landlord many years ago and some of the properties he let were worse than last nights offering He said one property had no front door but the people renting didn't mind as they were druggies How the other half lives huh? Am liking the 'just one rat incident'!!!! Marvellous.

Blue Planet was ok y'day but don't think we'll be rushing back. £40 for two adults and 1 child (K didn't count) to get in and wouldn't let us eat own lunch in the restaurant. No idea where we were supposed to eat it as we found a table, plonked down and ate what we brought!! So sue me

tee sounds like you're having no fun with this sleeping lark. Can't think what to suggest as I could have slept on a clothes line when I was pregnant. Fingers crossed that soon you'll be so tired that nothing will wake you

hedgepig · 09/04/2009 11:24

Ooooooo my brother and SIL have gone to the hospital I'm going to be an aunty soon ekkkkkk. *JJ can I have the bootee pattern???

ermintrude13 · 09/04/2009 12:10

Hope all goes well for your prospective niecephew, hedgepig. My next door neighbour came round this morning and this is how she described the birth of her 3rd DC: 'I was sitting in the garden with a glass of wine and my feet in the paddling pool for most of the contractions. Then I told my husband to call the midwives. They came, I went upstairs, leaned over the bed and Plop! Out he came'. So I'll be cracking open the wine at the first contraction and hoping for a carbon copy of that

mrsboogie · 09/04/2009 12:59

ermintrude I can't remember who it was was reading but she was describing how she always had a couple of glasses of red wine when she went into labour to relax her. Sounds a fab idea although I think I would have seen said red wine again rather too soon ...

jw your daughter was indeed lucky to have you with her last night. I too have lived in some corkers - when I was doing my degree aged about 20 with DS1 a baby we lived in a rat infested house that cost £30 a month. My then bf would come down in the morning and take the dead rats in the traps out of the kitchen. The house was very very old and next to a derelict house by a riverbank - so rat city. Also lived in a red light area in London when pregnant and in a flat with the flat upstairs being used as a brothel before moving out of London. Oh I have lived!

jeanjeannie · 09/04/2009 13:05

Wow mrsB and double WOW....a J cup???!!! I thought DP's sister had big knockers at a H cup - but clearly that's nothing.

hedgepig OOoooo, how exciting ..*hands over bootie pattern! Hope she has a lovely birth.

jw cor, that's a cheek - not eating your own food...how much money do they think people are made of?

Fab news about the flat finding - hope it looks ok - and apparently you can barter in the current economic climate. My friend has been on the phone this morning - she's got a lovely pad between Nottinghill and Shepherds Bush - tres desirable and has halved the rent in 18mtns....still no tennants!

heron yep - OH is thrilled by the big boobs - he says he's more a leg man - but hell, his eyes couldn't believe my norks when my milk came in

ermintrude I reckon the wine sounds the way forward!

Crappy weather and I want to kill everyone on Cbeebies.....especially Granny Murray...as she's on for the second time today....oh, no - it's repeated from this morning....AHHHHH!!!

heron22 · 09/04/2009 13:07

mrsb am drooling over some real cute outfits for my LO on annegeddes.com.
i especially LOVE the bunnysuit. so expensive tho! would really love to just go ahead and buy it!

heron22 · 09/04/2009 13:26

jj love that word - norks! such a funny word

god i hate repeat of children's tv as well, drives me nuts. bad enough having to watch it first time, repeat?!?!? ARGGHHHH

hedgepig · 09/04/2009 14:28

Thanks JJ ...now where is that woool...knit one, pearl one, knit one, drop one whoops. Its a Boy! I am very excited I have never been an aunty before!

mrsboogie · 09/04/2009 14:29

aww heron that is sooo cute
D was given loads of indoor outfits with cute hats but of course he never wore any of them as indoor hats are verboten!

Ehm twasn't me made claim to the H cup norks jj but hedgepig. Unfortunately though I am similarly overendowed with norkage. Its a bugger - can never buy anything that does up the front as it won't.

johnworf · 09/04/2009 14:35

OMG mrsb you've really lived in some dumps! I dunno how you do it. There's no way I could bring myself to. I'm fortunate I guess, that I haven't had to.

The news is full of resignations and anti-terrorist raids. The main one being in Cheetham Hill - 3 miles from my house. It's a dump without doubt. Mainly asian people live there. Bad council housing and dodgy bedsit land. No surprise then that they've found some terrorists hiding there!

I've just started putting Cbeebies on for K for the odd 5 minutes when I'm trying to do things. I know Ballamory of course from old and she likes that as it's bright and has music. Not au fait with Lazy Town but Sporticus is gracing all the newspapers this week in a bid to get fat kids fit. I do remember having to watch Thomas the Tank Engine videos back in the olden days with my older 3 and knowing every word. They watched them over and over.......... At least with Cbeebies you get a bit of variety.

JJ I was thinking of offering slightly below the asking rent but I know the landlady has just reduced it already by £25 a month. Still, if you don't ask you don't get so will give it a punt

DS#1 has just been and gone and picked up his easter egg (with his name on it). He's absolutely delighted with it. He's only 20 so he might grow out of that sort of thing soon

johnworf · 09/04/2009 14:36

Congrats hedgepig! Any names? Weights? Shoe size?

Hoping your SiL is doing well along with new LO
