Back from perusing (buying) climbing frames. Yep jw they DO indeed cost several limbs - but good old Serbo Grandad has offered to buy it So, you can imagine that we've gone for the cheapest !!!! Just getting it with two swings and a slide - the rest you can add on - or not at a later date.

What did you get from Boden? OOoo, I was just admiring a Boden dress last night - wondering if my norks would pop out or if I could get away with it! Having been a flat chested girlie all my life, I find it hard to embrace these whoppers! DP has no such problems

Oh crikey - I'm off - Verity is laying on the cat

johnworf · 25/04/2009 19:26

JJ blinkin' 'eck! That super duper climbing frame costs more than my house Good job JRJ is buying

I bought an necklace and a green bracelet I've been eyeing for ages. There's a necklace, the very same, I'm watching on Ebay at the mo and it's already at £28 plus P&P with an hour to go until finish. Daft really cos Boden are doing free p&p plus 15% off. Some people really are stoopid.

K is building up to a major wailing session pre-bedtime. I feel like joining her I think I'll just get the car out and drive her around until she finally goes off.......

jeanjeannie · 25/04/2009 20:20

Oh jw they're tres, tres nice pieces, that bracelet is a fab colour .... am SO of that necklace!!!

Verity is playing up around bed time but took a leaf out of your book this eve and 'fooled' her into not realising it was bed time. Had a play in Iris's room, lay in her cot with her toys...put the blinds down and ...whoooosh....out like a light.

I'm feel like my brain has turned to mush and the smell of poo is under my nose!

Wonder how ladymac is getting on with her new bundle?

Tee2072 · 25/04/2009 20:26

JJ was she laying on the cat, or trying to ride it?

I have been enjoying baby on the interior hiccups. So very funny!! Even DH could feel them.

jw very pretty jewellery. I find I don't wear necklaces, but I do like looking at them!

OP posts:
johnworf · 25/04/2009 21:04

haha JJ! We should write a book entitled 'how to fool babies to sleep'. I'm now thinking of how I can fool her into walking, talking and eventually, earning a crust in a top job Might have to work on those.

Awww tee cute hiccups Enjoy all these little moments as before you know it, you'll be on here, frazzled and moaning like the rest of us in no time

I never used to wear necklaces until recently, but my clothes are so plain and boring so I find the jewellery jazzes it up into something almost up to date

OMG the cashmere scarf came today. It's so soft I want to hug it. Much nicer than DH to hug as he's all prickly on his chin today.

johnworf · 25/04/2009 21:06

JJ meant to say know what you mean about the smell of poo. It permeates your nostrils. I wake up smelling it even though there is none there. Now that K is properly on 3 square meals a day the shit factor goes to warp speed.

ermintrude13 · 25/04/2009 23:08

Evening all, just got back from interminable show put on by DD's dancing school - zzzzzzz - after a day of sorting out Baby Things with DH.. so am cream crackered but notice you're talking about play forts/climbing frames and wanted to pass on a top tip. We used this company for our 2 swings, fort, rope, box sandpit, and sky ladder system, which is fantastic, lasting well after 5 yrs and much cheaper than a lot of them. I note they have a sale on too. They start from cute sets for tinies to ones like ours which suit 4-12 yrs.
Am falling asleep, night night all.

jeanjeannie · 26/04/2009 07:27

Morning...another 5.30am start..ZZZZzz. ermintrude I'd have gone to your DD's 'interminable' show...I could have done with a sleep....next time, just give me a bell!!

Thanks for the link - they look great. I'd like a log cabin for me

jw Oh I'm glad I'm not the only one. I walk into the house and I'm convinced I can smell it. Maybe I need a slab of Vic under my nose

OOoooo, the thought of stuffing my face into a cashmere scarf....how pleasing

,I see I'm not in the Sunday Times rich list this year....can't think what happened there. Must have spent it all at Costco...

heron22 · 26/04/2009 09:05

morning jj morning all! lovely sunny morning, so gorgeous!

jj thats tough! 5.30am wake up time.

house is a tip today. always like that on weekends! kitchen is the messiest place. already on 2nd load of washing! am determined to go out today and enjoy the weather!

jeanjeannie · 26/04/2009 09:37

Hahaha, talking of Costco - DP has just informed me that we are off there today....see, what did I tell ya...bugger all hope of getting onto the ST Rich list Lemon drizzle cake anyone?

heron get out and enjoy the weather as it's all about to change Stick your fingers in your ears and go 'lalalalalalala' at all the mess. I find that works a treat. However I am contemplating attack Bob the cat with hair clippers....piles of black and white fur everywhere....nice

Tee2072 · 26/04/2009 09:42

Morning all.

I think I am actually getting used to being awake between 2 and 4! Bring on the baby!

JJ some how I'm not on the list either. Not sure how that happened.

ermintrude Do you think one of those frames would fit in my front room? Or on my balcony?

heron enjoy the weather!

Today we are putting together the cot. Divorce may be in my future...

OP posts:
johnworf · 26/04/2009 09:54

tee just wait for your DH's 'plumber' language to kick in and put hands over your bump to protect LO's ears

I'm not on the ST rich list either. I've not even seen it but can guarantee I'm not even bubbling under.

Hmmm off to Costco...methinks I should stop off there too on way from picking up DS#2. We're a way off the climbing frames but I like those on the link you posted ermintrude. Not bad prices either. Files in 'for future reference' drawer. OOOOH did someone mention LEMON DRIZZLE CAKE? I soooooooo want some.

Period has come this month 6 days early. Never happened in the history of periods of my life. Methinks that changes are afoot and coupled with the other clues (mysterious random hairs on chin and other body parts will not mention), I could be heading for Menopause Central. Hurrah! Can't wait for hot flushes, dry vagina and the bearded lady look

mrsboogie · 26/04/2009 13:58

hullo all

Well sis has departed off back down south and I have drunk enough cups of tea to sink a ship in my attempts to get over the wine hangover. She reckons I look like I have lost loads of weight!!

Have put a couple of pics of my little man on - including one in which you can see his teeth but I think it might be to small on here. Tooth number three made its appearance this morning.

Hope you are all having a lovely day

johnworf · 26/04/2009 14:27

AWww mrsb D looks so very cute and you can just see his little toothy pegs peeping through He's looking very grown up sitting there on his own. K's still making no attempts She looks as though she'll do it then she spies something behind her and just flops over or she hears something and does same. I'm sure she'll get there eventually.

He doesn't half look like his dad btw.

Sorry to hear of your wine-over. It's one thing I sure don't miss and as I got older, they got bad....I mean bad Hence I'm teetotal

Tee2072 · 26/04/2009 15:52

Awwww, mrsb what a cute little man. And you certainly can see his teeth!

Well, cot is together with a minimum of swearing and no fights! Why do they make it so complicated? And with such vague directions in some parts!

OP posts:
mrsboogie · 26/04/2009 16:35

have you got any bedding yet tee? Are you still thinking of an Amby as well?

Mr D's cot is currently home to a large menagerie of cuddly toys

yes, D is the dead spit of his daddy -DP says that its like looking at himself. there'd have been be no need for a DNA test if paternity was ever in question!

jeanjeannie · 26/04/2009 17:17

Gawd, is the day over yet? It's as interminable as Ermintrude's dance extravaganza yesterday.

So far, been up at 5.30, done 3 loads of washing, been to Costco, made 4 lots of lunch, made fishcakes for dinner and a shepherds pie (to freeze)plus read the same book to the girls over and over again. Add to that, de-hairing the sofa (damm cat) with the rubber brush, hoovering, cleaning the bathroom and changing a stupid amount of nappies then as you can tell - I've peaked, had enough....bored now. Ooooo, red wine....that'd be nice

Oh and SNAP! mrsB another tooth for Verity too. Tooth number 3 finally makes an appearance. Good because she needed one at the top to balance out her looks!!

mrsB Wow - he's a real lad isn't he?! And yep, totally looks like Dad's boy. Could I just add that he as more than a hint of mischief about him? *offers up red wine with a knowing look that says 'yer gonna need this m'dear' Oh sorry, I forgot about the hangover!!

tee good to hear divorce papaers aren't in the post and the cot is up and ready to go

jw don't talk to me about the 'peri-menopause' yep, my periods have also gone askew Grrrrrr Not looking forward to that one little bit. My mum's came late, at 56/7 - so here's hoping.

Right off to fry the minxes fishcakes...will they appreciate them? Pah...will they 'eck (had no idea how to make minx plural )

ermintrude13 · 26/04/2009 18:00

Well, I've never had Nigella let me down but her bakewell tart with fresh raspberries cooked on top and not in the middle, so ended up being like raspberry tart with franzipane custard. Good job I was cooking for one of my oldest friends, and it did still taste delicious with lashings of whipped cream.

Tee shame you've already put up the cot, otherwise you could have put the LO to sleep n a mini fort as part of an compact and bijou indoor climbing frame

mrsb cutie pictures and love the teeth. Don't you listen to the others, he's clearly a little angel, butter wouldn't melt, etc
I used to have a theory about firstborns (in terms of the father) looking like their dads to make it less likely they'll run away in panic. Of our 10 NCT babies first time around, only one looked like her mum; the rest of either gender markedly favoured the father's side. Guess whose OH abandoned her and baby, totally out of the blue and nobody else involved, a month after the birth? It's not a foolproof theory but I still find that more firstborns resemble dad than mum...

JW I've had 2 fake menopauses (caused by drugs to combat endometriosis), one at 29 and the other last year, and I am so not looking forward to the real thing. Hope your early period is a one-off.

JJ sounds like you deserve that wine. Hope your minxi appreciate their fishcakes.

jeanjeannie · 26/04/2009 18:15

OMG ermintrude I had to read your post twice as I thought you'd had TEN babies through the NCT I was about to start trawling through the last year of threads to see where I'd missed this monumental fact !!!! Can I add to the theory of the first born to father, in that Iris was the spit of DP - yet Verity looked like me. And DP is still here....!!!

Sorry to hear about Nigella - write to her, tell her that she let you down Well, believe it or not, Delicious magazine came through for me today with its fishcakes.....really simple and VERY good. Iris weirdly ate them and asked for more. Even weirder...I left the capers in hers and she ate everyone of them?! God, kids are odd.
I do like Delicious mag - and I love its recipe finder online - tres useful.

OK - now to wash the Minxi (?) Verity has done yet another exploding poo - which has gently perfumed our warm living room, sunbathed in the lovely fading sunlight of the day with the delightful fragrance of egg. Joy.

heron22 · 26/04/2009 18:47

tee i have got an amby for my LO and i tell you, i love it. DH does not love it cos he is tall and it is hard for him to bring baby in and out of the hammock. but i am a short one and it is no probs for me, even after having c section. my little one loves the movement. i do take care not to constantly rock him to sleep or it will become a habit. the thing i dont like about it are the fitted sheets that they sell. expensive and the elastic at the back are not sturdy at all. other than that, all is well and i am very happy with it. we are going to visit my bro sometime in aug and i will take the amby along. it works as a travel cot as well! i am hoping that LO can use it until he is 18 months old. thing is my LO is already 7.5kgs at 14 weeks, so in due course i will have to replace the existing spring with a stronger one. you can get them from amby.

how quickly time passes! not so long ago i was agonising over what kind of bed to buy! now i am looking at weaning ! well just getting myself ready. has anyone used those brother max food storage containers?

Tee2072 · 26/04/2009 21:14

Evening all.

No, mrsb no bedding yet! Hopefully in the next couple of weeks I'll get that sort of thing sorted. Or at least once I start my leave in 3 weeks!

And yes, still planning on an Amby. Waiting until I'm off on leave to order that as well!

OP posts:
jeanjeannie · 26/04/2009 21:21

BUM, BUM, BUM, BUM, BUM....I'm eating tiny little choccies eggs that Costco are handing out when you renew your membership....BUM!

Can you tell I'm all tired and tetchy...*snuffles down more eggs

mrsboogie · 26/04/2009 22:07

jj I'm not surprised you are tired - the time you got up and the amount you have done. All I did was lie in shamefully late until me "head" had worn off, then get up and sit on the floor with D playing, let daddy do all nappy changing and taking up and down for naps and later made dinner. Didn't go for the planned walk - just lazed about. Still, got a horrible horrible week of work ahead so fair's fair.

tee three weeks! lots of resting, nesting and mumsnetting for you soon!

heron I find the getting in and out of the Amby a bit awkward now D is big and fat - he tends to stand up in it when you put him in and its very hard to get him to lie down as the thing sways about. But I would LOVE it if he could stay in it until 18 months (as would he) It is so floaty and dreamy and there is a fairy tale quality to a baby sleeping in it I think.

johnworf · 26/04/2009 22:16

I'm knackered (nicks JJ's knackered crown and plonks it on her own head). I haven't stopped today Just sat down.

Had the rabble round today for lunch, droppings off, etc etc ad infinitum. DD#1 told me she'd got 'a few things for me to Ebay'. Translated, that turned out to be 10 pairs of shoes and 2 suitcases FULL of clothes I've only managed the shoes tonight so I'll do the clothes as and when.

K did a nice projectile vomit onto the new rug today. Ever tried getting chicken noodles out of long pile carpet? It isn't easy I can tell you. I'm still picking bits of carrots up

mrsb you sound like you've had a nice day. Can we swap next weekend? I'll warn you in advance, my DH doesn't do anything like near what your OH does. But don't let that put you off...................

I want chocolate. NOW. But alas none in the house. JJ pass 'em round duck

mrsboogie · 26/04/2009 22:48

yeah - pass the choccies here please jj I am sat here thinking about jelly babies as that's about all I could have.

DP does a LOT with D jw sometimes I realise I haven't changed a nappy for days but he does bugger all around the house.
