Hello everyone - yet another thread. I'm expecting a call anyday soon from ITV - as I imagine we'll be prime candidates for taking over the Loose Women slot when they need a break

So, for anyone interested in joining in with us - just jump in and say Hi - we don't bite - unless you're disguised as a chocolate sponge cake

Ladies..................Take it away

Floria am v at A's sleeping through although not so that you had to wait 18 blinkin' months!

tee it depends on the flow really - seems to be a v wide variation in how much of it there is between women. The maternity ones are thicker I think and nicely soft for tender undercarriages. I went for those for the first week or two and they were v good. V long also.

FloriaTosca · 03/04/2009 11:54

Tee I told Alex and he grinned...quite whether that means he will do it again or not is anyones' guess
As to the pad debate though the maternity pads were softer they were too bulky for me and pressed on my stitches..thinner ultra absorbent overnight pads suited me better

jeanjeannie · 03/04/2009 11:56

tee definately maternity pads for the first few days...nice and soft, and you don't have to keep going to loo to change! I was at how much stuff comes out....sorry if tmi!

When I had Iris I bled so much I needed 2 mat pads!

Sorry shopping trip was cancelled - hope the decaf and croissant hit the spot

ermintrude13 · 03/04/2009 13:17

Oh lor, I just came over from the June thread to find that the mat pad conversation is still going on. Thanks Tee! One bit of pregnancy I really do like is the lack of monthlies, all this talk of sitting on mountainous pads is putting me off the creme egg that wobbles teasingly on the desk in front of me.... actually no, I'll be fine.

Good news about a full night's sleep Floria

No US road trips here, I'm afraid - we did go to NYC last June for DH's work and stayed a week which was fab. One day, when the kids have grown up and left home and I'm 103, maybe we'll hire that chevy and hit the road

Saw Juno last night and liked it a lot except for the ending. Seemed like a weird decision. Anyone else seen it?

duchesse · 03/04/2009 13:21

Good grief, am I the only person whose blood loss after childbirth is not much more than a standard period? Although obviously it goes on for a bit longer...

duchesse · 03/04/2009 13:22

Sorry, have to try these out as well. Multicoloured bunnies!

MUM41plus5 · 03/04/2009 14:37

Hello ladies.

What a week, first DD3 off school with sickness bug, woke yesterday to a very limp, non responsive DT2 with a temperature of 102, so began to panic for a few minutes then (as you do) pulled myself together and called doctor, long and short of it is that he has a little of the sickness virus from DD and a little of the coughing virus from DH, who has been unwell all week also.
It was the first time yesterday DT have been apart as DT1 went to MIL for the day so I could comfort DT2 who incidently thought that vomiting when having a virus is an ideal oppourtunity for a sicky olympics to see how far he could force it across the room anyway after a restless night and some calpol to bring down the temperature he is much better today, just waiting to see if DT2 gets it, at least I will know and won't panic so much.

Congratulations on the good scan results ladies

jj OMG, thats unbelievable about your bad neighbours. Housing association wanted to build not far from where we are on a tiny piece of land but because the land was so tiny they wanted to build a block of raised houses with space for parking and wheelie bins underneath to get as many proerties in as possible Luckily common sense prevailed and they were refused permission on the obvious grounds that the area underneath would make it possible for so many illegal activities to take place, they have now been given permission for a few bungalows for the elderly, much more fitting to the area.
Hope you and your good neighbours can make a stand and get something done!

tee sorry not Emailed due to all the illness and a problem with our Email on the laptop at home so would it be ok with you if DH used his office PC to email you?

Really have had to get the size fourteens out again been a bit hard to eat healthy with everything thats been going on and I know with my girls being on half term it will just be an excuse to cook lots of scrummy meals (thats my excuse anyway) and like you jj had a scone today which wasn't the best I've had to be honest but with the jam and real devon clotted cream it was delicious

It's taken me ages to write this post as up and down for DC every 2 seconds, is it evening now

peachyfox · 03/04/2009 14:40

Good news about babies sleeping through the night!

JJ re hair layers, EXACTLY!! Now I have a big lump on one side of my hairdo because the layer is too short. I'm even crosser because I paid extra to have a 'top stylist' - perhaps next time I'll ask for 'top stylist with ears that work'. Even more annoying, when I mentioned immediately that the layer was too short (already too late of course) she said, 'oh but I haven't finished cutting it yet!'. Hmm, going to cut it longer are you? Don't know what it will look like when I've washed it.

I'm in a bit of a state today, haven't those nice popping/fishy swimming feelings in my tummy since last night, and I've tried cold drinks etc. Trying not to worry. DP has told me 'not to worry' which of course is an enormous help. He really should be available on the NHS.

iris66 · 03/04/2009 15:31

peachyfox lol - DH is the same - any query/worry I have about anything (ie from the PC not working to a severed finger) gets the stock response "oh, it'll be fine"

Only DD & I get to undergo the trauma that is a deaf hairdresser. I use clippers on DH & the boys. I just managed (for the first time ever) to cut DS1's hair from start to finish in one sitting (with much sticker and sweets bribery, naturally) I'm so pleased. DS2 is much more compliant. He just sits wailing "noooooo" and cries - but at least he doesn't fidget or run off like DS1 used to (maybe I've got my evil mummy act together after all these years

MUM41plus5 · 03/04/2009 15:31

peachy I used to find an ice lolly did the trick, woke them up a treat

iris66 · 03/04/2009 15:33

duchesse no you're not alone on the post birth bloodloss (sadly) - my gripe is that, despite bf I still get my periods back as normal about 2 weeks after the big bleed (only slightly annoying)

peachyfox · 03/04/2009 15:37

mum would the lolly trick work as early as 19 weeks when they're still only flutterings? I've had some very cold juice and nothing. My mind is starting to wander into the dark corners of the interweb.

iris my mum got so sick of me screaming and not letting her even wash my hair she got my brother to knock on the bathroom door pretending to be the police. Cue silence. Ah, 70's parenting...

Tee2072 · 03/04/2009 15:47

Hi all

Sorry ermintrude! It was turning into such a 'he said/she said' over there it was doing my head in, so thought I'd ask calmer heads!

mum41 don't worry about it, and of course DH can email me! Just make sure he puts a subject line that will make me go, 'oooh its mum41's husband about the shoes!!' I hope the baby feels better soon and his twin doesn't get it!

peachy babies do indeed move more some times than others. You are 20 weeks yes? I sometimes had days and days when I felt nothing at that point. Could be the baby is sleeping or could be its facing backwards so you can't feel it move! Really, try not to worry. Xmas Grin

I just woke up from my nap after having the weirdest dream about death and a fight with my SIL. Even while dreaming I remember thinking, this is just weird. Xmas Wink

I do like the new bunnies!

ermintrude13 · 03/04/2009 15:54

aptly enough, ladies, we're on page 40 and that's now 990 posts....

peachyfox · 03/04/2009 15:56

Tee aw thanks, that makes me feel better, I've felt it so much over the past few days I was really missing it. Makes a lot of sense that baby is facing backwards.

It's boiling hot here - I've had to come in from my deckchair because I was burning. Is it sunny in the UK?

Misprint on the bunny-front, it's b not f.

Tee2072 · 03/04/2009 16:03

Darn bunnies didn't work!

It was sunny here earlier...seems have turned cloudy while I napped!

jeanjeannie · 03/04/2009 16:25

OMG - 990 already Not sure I've got another title in me.....anyone else fancy starting a new thread? jw where are you - you've gone AWOL.....

OP posts:
jeanjeannie · 03/04/2009 16:26

Sorry, that should have been

OP posts:
Tee2072 · 03/04/2009 16:26

Someone did mention a good title a bit ago...let me see if I can find it...

Tee2072 · 03/04/2009 16:27

There it is..

mrsb said 'we are 40+ and don't give a toss what anyone thinks!'

Good?

sissy0928 · 03/04/2009 16:46

I love the Thelma and Louise story! That would be a great way to find out, on a girl's trip! I used to live in Arizona as well, very nice, Phoenix!

New Mexico does have a lot of drug problems, unfortunately. I hear about all of the trouble near the border and it is so scary. I heard there were some great shopping outlets in El Paso, TX but I'm scared to go, because it is so close to the Juarez border! I can wait, there are malls here!! Plus I can head north to Colorado (where I was born) and hit the outlets there as well!

Tee, how did you land in Belfast? How exciting!

Tee2072 · 03/04/2009 16:48

sissy I met my DH on the internet in 2001. Moved to Belfast to be with him in 2003 and we were married in 2004. He was born and bred in Northern Ireland.

johnworf · 03/04/2009 17:55

JJ I was waiting for the new thread to start just so I could be the first to post

Katherine has taught herself to stick her tongue out. It's a, hmm, strange look

I've been taking pics all day of baggy old clothes that don't fit me (or K) anymore. Yep. It's Ebay night. Got another bag that's for the hospice charidee shoppe too. That's the wardrobes done, just got to climb into the loft now and sort out all the clothes up there. Bah. What a pain but it won't earn me any money gathering dust. I do hope the resident sparrow (Eric) hasn't feathered his nest with all my old Monsoon stuff. Eeeek.

Ok new title suggestion #803

Geriatric Gravidas: Popped and Unpopped. Bellies, Tellies, Vomit & Poo.

Tee2072 · 03/04/2009 17:59

mrsboogie · 03/04/2009 18:09
