Hello everyone - yet another thread. I'm expecting a call anyday soon from ITV - as I imagine we'll be prime candidates for taking over the Loose Women slot when they need a break

So, for anyone interested in joining in with us - just jump in and say Hi - we don't bite - unless you're disguised as a chocolate sponge cake

Ladies..................Take it away

Hi all

Oh dear, DH long weekend was going swimingly for the first part, we all enjoyed the Sunday morning croissants (including the boys ) and all had a lazy day spent just playing around on the floor with pretty much every toy we could lay our hands on (DT toys that is ) it was a lovely time spent together basically doing nothing, I'm sure you ladies will agree, that time doesn't happen very often. Had a lovely lunch out yesterday WITH DT, YES WITH THEM they were brilliant, we even managed after dinner drinks they were so well behaved, they were a little weary at first at all the attention but wasn't long till they grew to love it although we were getting a little fed up of the 'are they twins' question but was lovely, untill..... on the way home DH began to feel a cold coming on, then DD3 teacher advised she had not been feeling too well since noon and it was only about 20 minutes into arriving home that she brought up all her lunch and since then its been all downhill, poor DD still off school today, DH not well at all and I have strained tendons in my wrist from a silly twist while getting DT ready for bed last night so all in all things can only get better

jw thats great news really pleased for you and K I love that bracelet!!

tee managed to download pics from camera so put one on profile of shoes, as you can see they are a casual, comfortable pair.....

seeing as I was downloading pics to pc I thought I would put one on to profile of me and DH on valentines, me sporting the pearl earings he had gotten
and I couldn't resist putting the one of the bovver boys on their jungle bouncers

Tee2072 · 31/03/2009 16:35

mum41 those are very cute! If you're willing to post them, I'd love to have them!

Email me at [email protected] and I'll send you my address. Happy to pay for postage, of course! And even pay you for the shoes!

And your boys are so very cute! I love their bouncers! And pretty earrings.

MUM41plus5 · 31/03/2009 16:43

Ladymac what an exciting time for you I found the birth of all mine just as exciting as each other, wishing you the very very best for the next few days and months and years

Oh dear not sure what happened to pics, will have to see if I can shrink them

I can't say I ever really had any negative comments when I was pregnant at 40 but if I had of I really don't think it would have bothered me, thats the great thing since being forty I don't feel I have to answer to anyone

MUM41plus5 · 31/03/2009 16:51

tee just glad for them to go to a good home, will Email you and get them in a jiffy bag in the post in the next day or two

sissy0928 · 31/03/2009 17:37

Ha ha! That's funny ladies, and thank you for being so welcoming! Tee, I too was asked those questions with DD1 (13 now) "are you having twins?" "aren't you going to be induced? You're HUGE!" Thank you very much! She was only 7.2 lbs, but I did gain 57 lbs with her, however I only weighed 93 before pg! Ah, if only...
Woke up after only about 45 minutes of sleep last night sick to my stomach, up until after 1am and off and on after...I'll try drinking as much as possible to avoid dehydrating...not like morning sickness at all, and haven't had any really, yet. Today is 6 weeks, tomorrow is my 1st scan, hope it's all what it's supposed to be!
Best of all to you ladies today!

mrsboogie · 31/03/2009 17:46

I feel the same way mum41 since I got to 40

we are 40+ and don't give a toss what anyone thinks!- next thread title perhaps?

jw are you there? any weight loss this week me dear? I went and got meself a prescription for Xenical today!! Now I just need to decide when to start it...

nice shoes! oh and gorgeous boys! mum41

mrsboogie · 31/03/2009 17:52

Good luck with the scan sissy its quite an early one isn't it? I hope all is nicely visible for you .

duchesse · 31/03/2009 18:23

Hello all! Just reporting back on my 20 week scan- all seems well, although the little blighter was so crunched up I had to go back for a proper look at the heart. This one is showing signs of cussedness already and kept putting its hand over its face every time the sonographer tried to take a pic. Got one in the end with a fist up near its head, which I sincerely hope is not going to become a favourite position for it, cos, ouch...

duchesse · 31/03/2009 18:26

Rachel - myconsultant on the other hand started twittering about the higher likelihood of gestational diabetes and high blood pressure due to my age (the extreme was there between the lines). I think she's just exceptionally cautious- she means well.

sissy0928 · 31/03/2009 19:46

It is early for a scan, since today is 6 weeks. I suppose because it took me long to get here, we went the chlomid route and IUI, it took 2 tries, we were pretty lucky! I'm supposing it's to check that it's viable? Crossing my fingers and I'll update you when I get done!

Tee2072 · 31/03/2009 20:08

sissy I had a scan at around 6 weeks. Not much to see!

mrsboogie · 31/03/2009 20:22

I had one at seven weeks - not much to see then either!

MUM41plus5 · 31/03/2009 20:41

Yep, me too at 6 and 8 weeks, not much to see

Stormfly · 31/03/2009 21:16

Hope they get a nice clear view, Sissy. I am 6 weeks too - that was a good question you asked yesterday. I am storing up people's ideas for confident answers in preparation for anyone asking daft questions about this pregnancy. All the best for tomorrow!

iris66 · 31/03/2009 21:34

Hi [iris waves in what she hopes is a friendly, rather than scary psycho, way and smiles broadly ]

  • I've brought a big fruit cake to share and have my own chair (well, bean bag for my envastening backside ) can I join the thread please? I'm 42, on my 4th pg (due 6th Jul but aiming for 21st June as usually a couple of weeks early) and feeling decidedly geriatric .
mrsboogie · 31/03/2009 21:40

welcome iris

/helps self to great wodge of fruit cake

Congrats and welcome, you might be feeling a bit geriatric but on this thread you are a mere spring chicken! there is a big list somewheres about with everyone's names ages of kids due dates etc - although if you have been reading you will know that a few of us have been hanging around outstaying our welcome after giving birth me included.

I am rubbish wit he list but I am sure someone will find it...

johnworf · 31/03/2009 21:44

Evening all. Been a busy night tonight. DD#1 has split with her b/f (he's an arse) so we've been organising her move into her new flat next week and I've been given the lovely job of doing her laundry Ah well. Then visited my nephew and my mum. Nephew is 4 on Friday so took his present and card down. Phew. Knackered now.

duchesse you will find that they do tend to be over cautious. I think they work under the premise of 'what can go wrong, will go wrong (at your age)'. I had the same throughout my checkups. Mind you, I did have GD and high b/p!

mum41 your boys are gorgeous They look very robust. Liking the shoes too. Glad it's not just me that likes flatties. Earrings are just up my street.

Right mrsb where you up to me dear with these 'ere pills? Have you sat yourself down yet and done the dirty deed? Start working out what you can have not what you can't cos it's most can't have on them.

I've lost 2lbs! Bloody amazing as I've developed a fruit pastille habit. No fat, all sugar. Not good I'm afraid.

iris66 · 31/03/2009 21:54

thanks mrsboogie (sorry, slightly distracted at the mo, I've just been trying not to wet myself whilst being overcome with hysterical laughter/crying fit at reading the malapropisms on the "AIBU - fisting" thread. My pelvic floor is such hard work these days - I only got about a 1/5 way through the thread too! it's soooooo funny)

If anyone can direct me to the stats that would be lovely but, equally, if they're lost in the annals of time that's fine, I'm sure I'll pick things up anyway .

Stormfly · 31/03/2009 22:08

Hello iris66 - [waves and snatches fruitcake]. I reckon it's pregnancy rather than age that makes one feel geriatric anyway. Midsummer baby sounds good.

johnworf · 31/03/2009 22:08

Not sure who said they're due in July. My b'day is 6th July and DS#2 is 21st July. Both excellent dates to be born on

mrsboogie · 31/03/2009 22:08

ehm well I haven't actually got the prescription filled yet jw (all in good time eh?) as there is no chemist between here and the docs - will do tomorrow. I expect I will start them in the next day or so - get any yummy things I fancy having out of my system so to speak first.

can you post the link to that website again with the Xenical diet please.

fruit pastilles eh? very inventive of you! better than yucky marshmallows at least.

congrats on the 2lbs!

/heads off to read AIBU thread...

johnworf · 31/03/2009 22:09

Ah poo, just spotted it was 21st June. Damn these old eyes.

johnworf · 31/03/2009 22:15

mrsb I got the diet sheet from the official xenical website www.xenical.com But here is the link just in case. There's loads of diets according to your calorie intake for the day. Pick between them, you'll get the idea of what you can and can't have.

Yes, tis best to stuff your face and make a date with the blue pills. Not sure that 'getting it out of your system' is a good phrase to use! It's very literal

You'll be fine. First couple of weeks are the hardest when you're in the period of 're-adjusting'. Bleeding starvin' in plain english. J/k.

iris66 · 31/03/2009 22:17

thanks johnworf the fisting thread is hysterical and not at all what you may think - it won't give you nightmares, that's for sure.
I'm glad to see I'm not alone in having a big age gap (DD20, DS1 3, DS2 17mths) we also have 2 step DS` 16 + 15 who don't live with us

duchesse · 31/03/2009 23:24

Yup, that is a seriously funny thread. I don't often laugh out loud at things on MN because my family just stare at me pityingly, but that one was an exception.
