Hello everyone - yet another thread. I'm expecting a call anyday soon from ITV - as I imagine we'll be prime candidates for taking over the Loose Women slot when they need a break

So, for anyone interested in joining in with us - just jump in and say Hi - we don't bite - unless you're disguised as a chocolate sponge cake

Ladies..................Take it away

hedgepig yeah - white wine vinegar is the best thing - we use the cheapest we can find!

OOo a bit of bleaching - sounds like spring cleaning is in the air. I'm having a sit down after 3 loads of washing and cleaning the floors. Life's so much fun

hedgepig · 17/03/2009 15:07

JJ sorry about your sicky house to, I have tons of washing to put away but just can't seem to get any enthusiasm. Off to School hurrah

johnworf · 17/03/2009 16:15

Morrisons and Aldi do white wine vinegar for around 80p a bottle.

Oh jj you poor dear but at least you have the toothbrush to look forward to (if someone had said that to you 10 years ago, what would you have thought?)

hedgepig I do use a barrier cream. For everyday use and when her bum is not sore (hardly ever is) I use Burt's Baby Bees diaper cream but any cream would do. When it looks a bit red, it's the Metanium. I use the flushable liners too unless it's red then it's a silk bourette.

mrsboogie · 17/03/2009 17:11

well, just spent three hours in the bedroom with D trying to get him to have a nap. Apart from the few hours he slept in our bed this morning he hasn't slept at all since the new cot appeared yesterday morning. We are now left with a rather inelegant arrangement whereby he is lying in the Amby which is suspended over the cot (not enough room for both). And he is asleep. Finally.

hedgepig · 17/03/2009 19:33

MrsB how exhausting for you. Good idea with the amby over the cot I did the same with Os moses basket, obviously put it in the cot rather than suspending it over it . He went into his cot OK (but sleeps at least 1/2 the night with us anyway so probably wasn't such a big transition for him). I'm sure you will get there with D he just needs to associate the big cot with sleep.

Must go and write DH a long shopping list cos he has offered to go to Tesco, he needs a walk apparently?

johnworf · 17/03/2009 19:53

hedgepig send him round here when he's finished

Gah mrsb. He's leading you a merry dance isn't he? You and OH will look back in 16 years and laugh about it

aye he's a wee get and no mistake jw

jeanjeannie · 17/03/2009 20:06

Evening all. Well, Verity is asleep but no solids would pass her lips so me thinks it's going to be a long night of BOOBIE milk guzzling

hedgepig How marvellous - he volunteers to do the shopping You are a very lucky lady!

mrsB OOooo 'eck, he's a monkey isn't he! I'm thinking that Amby need to know about this - and in times of recession get themselves into gear and make one in an 'up to teenage' size

jw Aldi's white wine vinegar...MMmm, is it alcoholic...cos if it is ..I'll have it neat It's been one of those days!

mrsboogie · 17/03/2009 20:12

oh jj meant to say sorry to hear V is still not back to herself - at least you are managing to prevent dehydration.. I'm sure she'll eat when she's ready.

In addition to the next size up Amby (I wish there was one) I'm putting in an order for adult sized one for meself

I reckon we all deserve a nice holiday in the Maldives - sans squitting and snottering kids and blokes. What you reckon ladies?

johnworf · 17/03/2009 20:17

JJ I think I'd be hitting the cooking sherry tonight. The boob milk might make Verity sleep. Everyone's a winner

Isn't connie beauchamp getting more and more glamorous these days? She's grown her hair and wearing very swanky clothes. Sorry, I do live in the tv world rather than my dull one.

johnworf · 17/03/2009 20:19

mrsb count me in. I'm excited by the mere thought of a virtual holiday.

My DD#1 is off to Centre Parcs in Nottingham next weekend with her b/f and his family. She's having a weekend of pampering and clay pigeon shooting. Jealous? Moi?

mrsboogie · 17/03/2009 20:27

ok, we're going here

Tee2072 · 17/03/2009 20:29

Evenin' all

mrsb at least he's sleeping! Maybe he'll begin to associate the cot with sleeping now? We can hope.

And I'm all for any kind of holiday. Virtual is good. I think I will virtually send myself to a spa.

JJ sorry to hear Verity's still not up to snuff. Hope she feels better tomorrow.

I myself feel very uncomfortable tonight. I think the baby is facing my back and pushing its bottom against my front, cuz I feel HUGE tonight, but not feeling any kicking. I've been pushing on it, but no joy in getting it to move!

jeanjeannie · 17/03/2009 20:32

mrsB that looks lovely. Best go now eh - cos in a few years it won't be there - what with global warming and all that [harbinger of doom emoticon ]

jw Connie is indeed look Vamp'esque' Patsy Kensit is such a bad actress. She's so going to have an affair with that Good looking miserable Scottish one. I'd like to look like Jack - I want sleek cheekbones that'd slice parmesan

OP posts:
mrsboogie · 17/03/2009 21:01

jj you can have the fat sucked out of your bottom and implanted in your cheeks - that'll do it!

tee he or she could easily have got themselves wedged like one baby I read about - mummy wasn't feeling much movement over a few days and when she had a scan it was discovered baba had put his feet behind his head and got them stuck there

Tee2072 · 17/03/2009 21:08

Gee mrsb that's reassuring!

Baby has started kicking again and has moved back a bit, so I don't think that's the problem!

johnworf · 17/03/2009 21:26

mrsb I'm just getting my coat. My BiL and his family went to the Maldives last year. They said it was nice but after a week it got a bit boring as there's not much to do apart from sunbathe and scuba dive. (mutters something about moaning b'stards).

I don't like Jack. She's morphing into some kind of caricature version of herself. The pasty skin, the cheekbones, the poker straight hair. All she needs is a leather catsuit and a whip

I could have all the fat sucked out of my tummy and put in my lips and then I'd almost look like the freak they call Pete Burns

hedgepig · 17/03/2009 21:58

just looking at that picture MrsB makes me feel so relaxed zzzzzzz do you think we could get mumsnet to sponsor the 40+ mummies escape to the Maldives documentary??

what a daft baby getting stuck like that.

Right I have done something really stupid! I have agreed to do the London to Cambridge bike ride in July (60 miles! ). The last time I rode a bike with any seriousness was about 10 yrs ago All the other mummies doing it are slim and fit looking... I'm going to die.

johnworf · 17/03/2009 22:31

hedgepig One word: why?

Could you will me any nice handbags you have when you keel over from the bike ride?

Many thanks.

jeanjeannie · 18/03/2009 08:34

Morning all.
hedepig I've got two words to say to you........"get Pregnant" That's how I got out of a 60 mile bike ride DP is now reminding me that I still owe him this bike ride - as he completed his side of the bargin which was to do the Reading Half marathon!! Apparently it's a lovely ride and you're unlikely to die - so, that's good news.

I'm in a parallel universe today as Verity was up three times.......ZZZZzzzz BUT she IS looking better this morning.

OP posts:
Tee2072 · 18/03/2009 08:47

Morning.

hedgepig if JW is getting your handbags, can I have your shoes? Ta!

JJ glad Verity is on the mend!

mrsb I am so there! Except I hate the heat...could be a problem.

As for me, horrible night. Up at 2 with a nightmare. Then horrid heartburn that Gaviscon barely touched. I was going to go get some shopping done today (DH's bday is next week!), but I think I'll stay home today and do the shopping tomorrow!

ermintrude13 · 18/03/2009 09:34

Morning ladies

Tee, you could always shop online. I've forgotten what the inside of a shop looks like. Have you got any ideas what you're going to get him?

Hedgepig wow, 60 miles sounds like sore butt to me, but think how virtuous you'd feel afterwards. And then compare that with how near death you'd feel and make a choice

mrsb what I wouldn't give for a week on a Maldive island, what a gorgeous photo. Somehow I don't think it would look the same with me, DH and 3 DC frolicking on it . How's the 'amby dangling over the open jaws of The Cot' theory progressing?

JJ glad Verity is brighter, although at the expense of your sleep, ain't it always so.

JW I didn't know about the white wine vingegar. Is it to bleach? I've got a bottle of lavender and tee tree essential oil to drop into the nappy bucket with the smelly used ones but thought I'd use Ecover non-chlorine bleach with a hot wash to clean them. Is vinegar more effective?

Having lunch out with a friend today. Well, he's more of an acquaintance even though I've known him for more than 4 yrs - a very quiet man who, despite being exactly 10 yrs younger than I am, seems about 10 yrs older. He's a writer too and it's more of a business lunch than purely social, but at least his reticence means I'll be able to tuck in instead of having to make conversation.

johnworf · 18/03/2009 09:43

ermintrude the white wine vinegar acts as an antibacterial agent. I suppose it's a bit like using it for open wounds - or was that just my mother being cruel to me? Anyway, that's how I use it.

I too put tea tree oil on a flushable liner in the bottom of the bucket and an old bib with lavender on the top for smells. I dry pail so I don't use the Ecover nappy solution.

Lunch sounds good even if it is with a dullard very quiet man Fill ya boots!

I'm doing lunch on Friday with DD#1 who has taken a day off to get her hair done (do you remember those days too, ladies?) She asked me last night to order her a few things from ASOS as I had a code for 20% off. Unfortunately the code ran out on Monday so she missed it by a day. Anyway, I've offered to make up the 20% for her as otherwise she couldn't afford it. At least I've made someone happy today

JJ it's a trade off isn't it? Verity well, you knackered. One day (soon we hope) the balance will right itself and you'll have 'well' and 'alert' in the same day. I've put a request in to Jim'll Fix It for you and crossed my fingers

johnworf · 18/03/2009 09:44

tee sorry, meant to say it's not long to go now before you get rid of the heartburn....only to be replaced with a squawking baby.

Life's a beach....we wish
