Faint line appeared on the pregnancy test - am I pregnant??

Hi,
I've been feeling a bit 'off' for a few days so I decided to do a pregnancy test this morning. I've been pregnant before and these symptoms are very similar (I've also felt preg before but not been!).
Anyway I did a test when i woke up and after a few mins it was negative but I didnt study it for long as I was tired and went back to sleep! Well when I woke up about half an hour later there was a very faint line on the test. I know that you shouldn't read the test after a certain length of time but I've done many tests over the years and this hasn't happened before.
If I have conceived it's just about two weeks ago when it could have happened (wink) so this is the earliest it would show.
Any advice would be most appreciated.
Thanks Sarah x

Hi Girls,

I have done two pregnancy tests (both with sainsbury's) each one showed nothing in the first 10 minutes but then about half an hour to an hour they have showed up as a blue line, does this mean i am pregnant or are these evaporation lines? So confusing. Are sainsbury tests any good do you know?

Hi, ive never had any problems with sainsburys tests, theyve always shown the right answer depending on whether i was or wasnt pregnant. Id say test in a week but ignore anything that comes up after 10 minutes

ignore any lines that appear after 10 minutes or so.....more likely to be evap lines...., the test instructions should specify after what time the test is no longer valid

hey everyone!
you all look expertese in this field of testing !
yesterday i randomly tested yesterday afternoon coz we have been ttc i used first response ... and i got a pink dot instead of a normal line in the results window with a normal control line etc ... do you think it is a positive ? or faulty or hmm
by the way because it is first response i tested 4 days early , my period is due the 1-2 of september
...

Hmm,could be faulty.I had a faulty one last month,it had half a line.
However yesterday I tested with FMU and there was a line although very feint...I was 5 days before period due.
I would retest in the morning with first wee.

Go digital! ive found the first response to be quite unreliable and faint. others have agreed. i recommend a clear blue digital as there's nothing more frustrating than faint lines..

they say tho.. a line is a line is a line .. and in my experience they are right! good luck!

To all ttc mums,

I had cancer of the Thyroid in 2009 and I have not ovulated regularly since. I fell pregnant with Clomid in May last year but sadly lost my little girl on the 26th August at 20 weeks pregnant. My partner and I just decided to try for another baby and my LMP was 28th Jan I took 200mg of Clomid for 5 days (days 5-9) then after using OPK's we started using Preseed the day before my fertile period (Friday 11th Feb). I was very impatient to find out if we were pregnant and took a first response pregnancy test 6 days before my period was due (10 days after ovulation) and it was negative :(. My partner and I went away for the weekend but I still 'felt' pregnant so I re did the test first thing Monday and there was a very faint line! My other pregnancies there had always been a strong line so I was not convinced I was pregnant. I did another First response test on Tuesday morning and the line was ever so slightly darker so I bough a digital test which at lunchtime clearly said "pregnant 1-2" :o. So I just wanted to say a line is definitely a line and the digital test are much less confusing to use!

Hi there.

I just want to ask for some advise...
I was diagnosed with PCOS (polly cystic overran syndrome) after the birth of my son 8 years ago... The last couple of days my husband got worried because I am constantly warm (sweating in Europe when its winter outside) My tummy feels strangely swollen and uncomfortable. The other night I was throwing up for no reason...... Soooooo this morning I did a home pregnancy test and at first it was negative, and I discarded it. Then later I realized I did not wait the full 5 min for the test to develop properly. I went back to get it and there was a very very very faint line in the positive window.... It is extremely faint and I wonder if its not my imagination... Or if it is just the 'shadow' line that happens after you read it after the set time has elapsed....
I don't want to get my hopes up... any advice?

Hi dom :) A faint positive is still a positive, it sounds to me like you're probably pregnant. I'd recommend doing another test in a couple of days, again with first morning urine, to be sure. I think the hormones that a pregnancy test detects double each day that you're pregnant, so in a day or two they should be high enough to give a clear result.
