Hi,
I've been feeling a bit 'off' for a few days so I decided to do a pregnancy test this morning. I've been pregnant before and these symptoms are very similar (I've also felt preg before but not been!).
Anyway I did a test when i woke up and after a few mins it was negative but I didnt study it for long as I was tired and went back to sleep! Well when I woke up about half an hour later there was a very faint line on the test. I know that you shouldn't read the test after a certain length of time but I've done many tests over the years and this hasn't happened before.
If I have conceived it's just about two weeks ago when it could have happened (wink) so this is the earliest it would show.
Any advice would be most appreciated.
Thanks Sarah x

SORRY IM GOING MAD! I MEANT TO SAY A FALSE NEGATIVE RESULT!!
If the hcg is too diluted or if you have peed lots it will be weaker.
Hope that made sense this time!

Congrats to all the pregnant women! Sorry my lurkers link confused you a bit about your test Sarah, do test again, the digital ones are very good but make sure you don't open it up for a look afterwards!

Sarahx2005 · 11/04/2005 16:15

Hi,
The digital ones are too expensive! I've ordered 3 of the ultra early ones from ebay - I get all my tests from ebay they are so cheap! They usually arrive the next day. These only need 10miu/ml where as the one I used this morning needs 25miu/ml.
Hopefully should give me a better indication, but after trawling the net for links and reading about evaporation lines - I'm doubtful that I'm pregnant.
But see what happens in the morning if the tests arrive.

Make very certain you read those tests within the time-limit because they get evaps too! Although they are grey rather than the ink colour so it's not too confusing

Sarahx2005 · 11/04/2005 16:31

Hi,
Yeah will do. If they don't come up positive within the time limit I will just assume that I'm not pregnant.
Thanks for the advice - Sarah

ps Just keep thinking that I've used others from the same batch and they have never done this...hmmmmmmmm.........

leahbump · 11/04/2005 16:34

I never had a evap line in 3 years ttc and I must have used over 30 tests at least. that's why i was optimistc when i got the faint positive!!

Do let us know how u get on.

golds · 11/04/2005 16:41

Exactly what happended to me, I did a test yesterday and read it, it was negative. This morning went to my bedside table for some loose change and saw it lying there, I picked it up and swore I saw a faint dot, I took the test to show dh at work and he said theres definately something there. I went into town and bought another one (different brand) and yes it was a BFP.

So tonight I am slightly panicky at the prospect ahead, but overall pleased.

Congratulations to you, see you over on the due in Dec thread.

FastasleepTheInsomniac · 11/04/2005 16:43

Wow so many pregnant people finding out today!!

Sarahx2005 · 11/04/2005 17:01

Sarahx2005 · 11/04/2005 17:09

Yes but fingers crossed for what???
I don't even know myself. It would be great for Izzy to have a playmate as there's such a big age gap from the others.
But hubby and me are not at all sure what we want, I'm 39 at the end of this year!

if its pos it will be the right time..i got pg when ds was one but lost the baby at xmas. However he is now 18mths and I just think when time is right things will happen

Sarahx2005 · 12/04/2005 09:18

Well I had another evening of lots of peeing and I woke in the night to pee and felt really nausious, I got up this morning feeling really nausious and then the tests came through the post!
Well it's negative! There was no line within the 3 mins time and no line 15 mins after - after about half an hour I thought I could make out a bit of a line but I think I'm gonna take it as a negative now, even though I really feel pregnant! All my previous pregnancy tests have been positive just before or certainly on the day of my period - so if I was pregnant I would have expected it to show by now. I might do another in a couple more days (there were 3 in the pack), but for now I'm gonna try and put it to the back of my mind.
Off to Mum's and Tot's now - see you all later.

Glad you tested again, at least it's beginning to put your mind at rest!

Sarahx2005 · 12/04/2005 16:05

Hi,
I don't think it really has put my mind at rest - something's definately not right! My boobs are really tender and I'm peeing lots more than normal, there's a definate faint line on that test but it's fainter than the other test yesterday but it's a different brand.
Just have to wait and see, if I'm not pregnant I think it's a trip to the docs to see what's up with me!

Docs sounds like a good idea, maybe ask for a blood test - that's the best way to find traces of HcG in your system....stressing loads isn't going to do you any good! xx

QueenEagle · 13/04/2005 09:24

I did several tests with a pink one (can't remember the name) which didn't show within the time limit but half hour later showed faintly. I then bought a clearblue which showed up with a blue line although it seemed to take ages to show when previously ones had gone instantly bright blue.

I haven't read this whole thread but have you thought of taking a sample to a chemist?

How late are you btw?

Nemo1977 · 13/04/2005 09:42

sarah i would leave it a few days maybe till mon and test again...i know the waiting is a nightmare.

Katts · 13/04/2005 10:35

I had a mix of positive and negative tests when I first found out I was pregnant. This was when my period was only 1 day late. I used First Response and got a positive then freaked out found and all night chemist and bought 5 more tests - all different brands. Did one called Predictor and it was negative. Then did a Clear Blue digital the next morning and it was positive. Predictor stilled showed negative 2 days later. (Ok, I know this was overkill, but my doctor wouldn't do a test for me). Anyway I did some research and from what I found First Response is the most sensitive. That is, it detects the lowest levels of HCG in your blood stream. Clear Blue was fairly sensitive. And predictor just sucked. I'm not advocating you rush out in a frenzy and buy lots more tests, but if you do First Response are apparently more sensitive and likely to give you a positive result earliest. Hope that helps.

Sarahx2005 · 13/04/2005 11:12

Hi,
I use the ones from ebay they are the cheapest and I use the most sensitive ones.
If you keep testing the same day the hcg is diluted in your urine, that's why it's always best to test first thing in the morning.
My period isn't even due that's the thing! But I wonder if my hormones havent settled down from the miscarraige and maybe I popped an egg early??
Anyway felt definately nausious this morning and at one point almost puked when my husband farted!
I have thought about a blood test, but I think that will add to my stress - waiting for the result.
In my previous pregnancies the tests have always shown positive straight away either on or just before my period.
I know when we last made love so if I don't get a definate positive result by the end of the week then I know I'm not pregnant - or if I am it's probably a failing pregnancy as this is what happened before.
Thanks for replying - I love reading the posts.
