Hi,
I've been feeling a bit 'off' for a few days so I decided to do a pregnancy test this morning. I've been pregnant before and these symptoms are very similar (I've also felt preg before but not been!).
Anyway I did a test when i woke up and after a few mins it was negative but I didnt study it for long as I was tired and went back to sleep! Well when I woke up about half an hour later there was a very faint line on the test. I know that you shouldn't read the test after a certain length of time but I've done many tests over the years and this hasn't happened before.
If I have conceived it's just about two weeks ago when it could have happened (wink) so this is the earliest it would show.
Any advice would be most appreciated.
Thanks Sarah x

sarah i do think sometimes u just know...with this pg i knew 2 days past ov..honestly sounds stupid doesnt it but i just did. I even sent dh to buy a test 7dpo which obviously came up neg.
I got a pos at 13dpo but like u just instinctively knew

Enid · 13/04/2005 11:18

god how can you stand it? Just go and buy the most expensive one you can from Boots NOW and test immediately. I bet the ones from ebay are rubbish!!

Sarahx2005 · 13/04/2005 12:05

The ones from ebay are very good, I've had them in the past and they are the most sensitive.
If money was no object I would rush out and buy the most expensive - but unfortunately it is.
Why would I pay £11 for 1 test when I get 3 more sensitive ones from ebay for £2.59??
NEMO I was like that when we were trying for Isobel - I'd had a missed miscarraige a few months before and didn't find out the baby had died until I went for my 12 week scan and had to have a d & c - it was horrible.
We tried for a couple of months and I know that's not long but I caught with all the others in the first month.
Well I had a dream that I was going to get pregnant the next month and that everything would be ok.
We went away on holiday and I must have only been a few days past conception but I felt sick (never felt sick that early before) and I kept peeing all the time so I just knew.
Ran and got the test out of my bedroom drawer as soon as we arrived back from holiday - it was midnight! It was positive straight away. It's a good job I felt so confident about the preg because after having a scan and seeing a heartbeat at 9 weeks I started to bleed the next day!
Bled on and off for about a month but then everything was ok and our little angel was 1 last week!

sarah u sound so like me
with all my pregnancies [have had 4 but only one ds out of them] i caught in first month.
This pregnancy [5th] took me 3 months following D+ C on 30th dec.

i agree about ebay test thats what i use the sensitive ones. Then when one of them gets pos i usually buy clearblue to confirm..lol

Have posted this on another thread but saw that this one was maybe relevant too, so am copying it in here:

Just spoke to my GP after 1 +ve test on Monday morning (ClearBlue digital), and 2-ve tests Tues am & today. Had a lot of cramping overnight so he says failing or early miscarry (would be 7/8 wks pg).

3 yrs ago I was diagnosed PCOS but had DS since so had put it out of my mind. ANyone else had this sort of experience / PCOS diagnosis?

Hope I don't kill your thread just looking for some feedback.

hun i dont know im afraid but huge hugs to u

Sarahx2005 · 13/04/2005 12:40

Hi,
I've had cramping in pregnancy - usually everything stretching and just 'adjusting' - unless it's accompanied by bleeding I wouldn't worry!
Do you feel pregnant? That's one of the best signs.

I was feeling pg but not so much today & yesterday. No bleeding. I am working on the basis that I am not pg, because given all the confusing signs I can't let myself believe it ...

Sarahx2005 · 13/04/2005 12:57

When I was pregnant with my second child - I would have been around the same stage as you - I had the most horrendous cramps one night in bed - really painful. I went to the loo fully expecting to see lots of blood, but there was none and everything was fine - he's 10 years old now!
I had very similar with my third baby too although not as bad.
Try not to worry too much - no blood is a very good sign - but even if you do get some bleeding it's not necessarily a bad sign - as my 1 year old proves!

I had cramping too from about week 5 - 9. Like period pains and usually at the same time each night. Also had a heavy bleed at week 7. 17 weeks now and everything's ok. No more bleeding and definitely still pregnant!

AnonymousMum · 13/04/2005 13:19

Wish I hadn't tested so early, but am so impatient that 1 day late and I bought the tests ... how annoying. I have always had irregular periods so no period is never a clear sign with me anyway.

Katts · 13/04/2005 13:54

Did your doctor do a test as well? Not that that would be conclusive. My GP would only do a urine test which they had to send away to the hospital to have analysed. Didn't get the results of that until my first antenatal appointment 4 weeks later! I know it's frustrating to have to wait it out, but hang in there and try to keep busy with other things to keep your mind off it. Hope you get an answer soon!

Sarahx2005 · 13/04/2005 19:01

Gp's here won't do a urine test it's not a service that they offer anymore. They will do a blood test if they think it's necessary. Maybe that would help AnonymousMum - they can get an indication of what the hormone level is in your blood and compare it to how far along you think you are.
That really helped me when I was pregnant in Feb, I was bleeding but still felt pregnant but the blood test results confirmed that I was miscarrying so at least I knew where I stood.

Hi
I tested with Clearblue it came up pregnant on Monday.

I did another pregnancy test with 'Predictor' today and it showed a very very faint positive why doesn't it show up very clear? am i pregnant or not?

Sarahx2005 · 13/04/2005 21:01

Hi,
tests are 99% accurate so I would say you are pregnant - why did you test again when you had already had a positive pregnancy test on Monday?? You will drive yourself mad! Whenever I've had a positive I've never tested again.
Just relax and enjoy your pregnancy.
You may have tested after you'd recently emptied your bladder or had a lot to drink which dilutes the hcg?

Thanks Sarah, Yes i must be mad keep testing all the time i just can't believe it still.

Nemo1977 · 13/04/2005 21:10

chocfudge
i keep testing myself after a faint pos on sun and a clearblue digi one on mon...i have done a further 4 tests...so dont worry u r not alone...i think its cos of being an early stage ther are not many pg symptoms just the test to confirm it

chocolatefudge · 13/04/2005 21:13

Nemo1977 i think we should both stop testing now don't you think!

When are you going to the doctors? i'm going Monday coming.

piffle · 13/04/2005 21:14

yes the faintest line known to mankind has just woken up teething her 2nd molars at 29 mths so faint is no indicator of a negative test
Dh was so disbelieving he made me do a clearblue again and it was negative.
But oh golly she is real!
A line is a line is a line
unless it's after the time limit when it can be an evaporation line (I've had that this week and am def not pg so know it happens)
In my limited experience of 4pregs and 2 kids, a + ive always showed up instantly as test was done, however faint it was...

Nemo1977 · 13/04/2005 21:15

choc the same mon at 10am..nervous as hell though

chocolatefudge · 13/04/2005 21:19

Me too! he will probably arrange a midwife appointment we'll have to wait and see.

I keep feeling hungry all the time do you?

Nemo1977 · 13/04/2005 21:22

i am starving apart from when i get up then i just feel ill. Getting loads of twinges etc which is slightly worrying but will just have to wait and see

Sarahx2005 · 14/04/2005 23:38

Yesterday I decided to get a first response or a clearblue that you'd all recommended - they only had predictor in the supermarket, so today I decided to look again in another one and they only had the same thing!
I'm gonna use my last ultra early one in the morning and if that's negative then that's it. I'm still feeling crap, but yesterday I had symptoms that I was ovulating (it's around the right time too) so maybe it was all a storm in a tea cup - maybe its the menopause HELP!

hi ladies - just catching up on your stories. congratulations on your (not so F!) BFPs!!

just thought i'd drop in to say that in my 18 mths of ttc i found the cheapie 'ultra sensitive' tests to be unreliable. they were supposed to be sensitive to 10 miu thingummyjigs, but came up -ive when CB and FR gave me BFPs.

so, sorry, but i found the more £££ the better with HPTs. CB wins it for me every time - got a lovely strapping line 3 days before AF due with this pregnancy.

lots of luck
x

btw, looking forward to your morning POAS updates!
