Come join our merry (talkative) band of ladies who lunch - feel sick - are getting fatter - sleep deprived or run off their feet with babies! Some of us suffer all of the above - while trying to retain an air of calm and mystery

All we ask is you play nicely, eat cake and indulge in the occasional gossip and moan about our ills....or anything else that we can think of.

We're like grumpy old women....only not so grumpy...

Morning!
Hahahahah mrsB those chairs are HILARIOUS ..."Boob-milk Martini for me...and easy on the ice" Yes, I can see them now - the perfect furnishing for a new baby boutique hotel ala Phillipe Starke- style!

ermintrude Obviously I'd never use the phrase now - but at Comp in the early 80s...cacking yer kecks was all the rage; pissflap is soooooo gross!

We bought Iris a gorgeous duvet - thing it's it's better than ours

Dropping Iris off at nursery and then MIL is taking Verity swimming and then picking Iris up from nursery and taking her out too. I love action MIL!

Those chairs are v funny.

tee hope you are feeling better soon. I've added you on facebook.

Btw JJ I've sent you a link to the dress that's for old ladies (as said by DH). It's on Facebook.

Off out for lunch today with DS#2 and DD#1. Plus the blind man is coming to do the roller in K's room.

johnworf · 13/02/2009 10:07

mrsb how come you look some damn glamorous on your profile pic?????? I have to put one up of K as I look so bad I'll hunt one out later and get DH to photoshop it to the max! huzzah

JJ enjoy MiL having the girls...now you can catch up on important stuff like OK! and Jezza Kyle

mrsboogie · 13/02/2009 10:08

awww poor tee get snuggled under that duvet and and take good care of yourself.

jj they are fab aren't they jj? very New York loft apartment.

Don't know if anyone reads that blog that they are on - OH loves it - checks it every day for new toys etc.

My MiL (sort of MiL) is taking D for the whole afternoon so I can get my hair done and meet OH after work for a cheeky glass of vimto.

update on Operation Stuff the Baby - it seems to be working!. Last night he was fed at 7pm went to bed at 8 and didn't wake for food till 1.30am! Then again at 5.00 which wasn't so great but he did go over 6 hrs without a feed. Just need to move it all on a couple of hours and we will be laughing!

Tonight we will probably be back to the bad old ways

Neddie · 13/02/2009 10:22

Hi all,
Foot is getting better slowly and I haven't got tetanus or septicemia (cool). DP home this afternoon and I am about to try him out on the domestic side. Not too worried as I am not a housework fanatic- as long as the kitchen and bathrooms are clean in our house then I'm ok. I must admit I have been watching a lot of Kim and Aggie this week and for at least half an hour afterwards I get the duster out!
Valentine's day is a bit out for us because I am like Long John Silver (minus parrot). The NHS tightwads didn't lend me a crutch so I've been hobbling around with an upside down broom up my armpit for 3 days.
mrsb I'm not sure how old your baby is but I always fed my very huge babies a bottle of SMA gold (ready made-I know the height of idleness)in the evening to top up my booby milk- they say you can't do this as it stops them breastfeeding but it doesn't- if their greedy they'll feed. Liquidized risotto works for older ones as it expends to fill their tummies (anything with rice in was effective and stays down too). No.2 child had a faulty valve in her throat and puked after every meal so was always hungry- rice stays down- hurrah!

johnworf · 13/02/2009 10:37

mrsb I subscribe to the Bambino Goodies blog and also the Twitter.

Glad to hear that there was an improvement with D last night

mrsboogie · 13/02/2009 10:54

Liquidised risotto neddie fantastic!

D loves the ready made milk - glugs it right down every time!

glad to hear you haven't contracted any nasties!

must go and get ready for the off while Mr D us napping...still haven't decided what to have done with the hair!

hedgepig · 13/02/2009 13:08

fabby highchairs MrsB Ben thinks we should get the black one for Ollie, isn't it lovely to be 5 and not understand how ridiculously expensive things are . Needless to say the yellow plastic one will be coming down form the loft. Enjoy the hair cut and vimto, is (nearly)MIL feeding young D up all afternoon?

Just been back to the Drs with Ollie he is improving on the cold front but now has conjunctivitis .

Must get back to playing dinosaurs or B will tell me off again for trying to use the computer, cheeky boy!

BonzoDoodah · 13/02/2009 14:01

hedgepig Don?t know much about agro but I?m in Mass Spectrometers if that means anything to you!

ermintrude - they say cacking our keks in the NW too. Eeeey I haven?t heard that phrase in a while. I went on holiday to Iceland and found some biscuits there called ?creme keks? ? just HAD to buy them (infantile snort)

mum41 - I love that picture of the snowy scene from your house. Any idea what the development is? You can find the plans and object and at least make sure it?s sympathetic and not a concrete tower block. But what a shame to lose that open space and lovely trees.

mrsboogie I think we need to ban you from this thread as an age impostor! (Cute babies though). Had a look at those chairs - omg ?and the price ? [gulps]

Nursery just phoned. M has a temperature of 38-39 so they?re giving her Calpol. Fingers crossed - she was ok when I took her in this morning. I did notice last night when she was asleep that she was snorting a bit and a bit restless (covered the cot in Karvol) When I put my hand on her chest I could feel her heartbeat through the bedclothes, sleeping bag and babygrow. Is that normal????

jeanjeannie · 13/02/2009 15:04

Aternoon all.

Hedgepig and Bonzo awww...poor DC Hope they all get better soon.

neddie good to see your foot is getting better - and PMSL at liquid risotto - gonna give that a try

mrsB yeah - that's fab about young Mr D - keep up the good work

Been busy, busy, busy - skip has been and gone - the garden looks a state and the stump grinding man is coming at 5pm! I shall post a picture of the madness this evening! It's all trees, trees, trees this week

jw have FB'ed you - am of the frock

duchesse · 13/02/2009 15:25

jj hehe- trouble ahead...

Tee2072 · 13/02/2009 15:53

go Verity!

Finally feel a bit more human after sleeping most of the day. Someone tell me again about this 2nd trimester burst of energy. Its a myth, isn't it?

jeanjeannie · 13/02/2009 16:05

Cheers duchesse

tee yep, it's a myth! Well, it wasn't with Iris but definately with Verity....I was shattered ALL the time ...soz if that's not want you want to hear!!

I also never 'blossomed'...no silky skin, smooth hair or radiant glow I still remember one of my bessies mates being in size 10 jeans - 2 weeks till she popped WRONG!!! And boy did she glow - she lit up half of Oxford she looked that good

OP posts:
johnworf · 13/02/2009 19:16

I felt best in the middle months. Sickness at first and then last 3 months was weeing and lugging my large frame around like a stuffed suitcase....and so tired. Middle months saw shiney hair, lovely skin though

Took DS#2 on a bit of a shopping expo for clothes. Bloody hell. Teenagers clothes are dear. I used to haunt charity shops in my youth looking for 'originals'. I think they'll be under the genre of 'retro' or 'vintage' these days though.

We're just settling in for the night. DSS has bad sore throat so rushed off to get the strongest the chemist could offer hoping that he'll be over it by tomorrow - b'day day. Anyway, we've had tears when he got in from school and think he just wanted a hug, which he got He's in the other room with dad and my DS#2 playing Risk so he can't be that ill

I've pre-warned my postie not to wake me too early tomorrow with all the cards and to also advise the florist who will, no doubt, have a van heaving with blooms from secret admirers...........not!

mrsboogie · 13/02/2009 19:18

I'm back! shorn of lock and purple of teeth been int'pub chatting to my boss about work/ politics etc. Think I am approaching acceptance of Monday but am going to stuff myself silly with yummy things all weekend as consolation.

Also bought myself a nice sensible leather across the body bag form Marks for back to work/wheeling the buggy etc.

jj that's fab about Verity crawling!

tee glad you are feeling better - I think the whole blooming thing is a damn confounded lie, put about by people who errr... lie!

Think I may be a teensy bit squiffy so must away to make dinner etc.

Tee2072 · 13/02/2009 20:06

OMG a 13 year old dad...God help that baby.

Tee2072 · 13/02/2009 20:07

Nope, I'm wrong...he's 12. And the mum is 15.

johnworf · 13/02/2009 20:15

yeah read about it tee. Prolly be on jezza kyle in a few months.

jeanjeannie · 13/02/2009 21:11

BUM! wrote an email and it disappeared

tee me thinks that the grandparents (who are probably 10 yrs younger than us lot!) are going to be changing nappies for some time to come.

mrsB drinking on a Friday? - excellent work! At least your lovely hair detracts from the teeth eh!

jw Sounds like DSS has got himself something to take his mind of the cold!

Verity has been hyper since she discovered going forward! She's so full-on at the moment. Sounds a bit weird but she's started pointing at things and says 'cat' when Bob pootles in the room. We waited 19mths before Iris uttered anything so we're a bit and if you say clap then she does....and pats head too. OMG - Verity is a peforming monkey **decided not to whip out the mensa tests and start a 'is my child the brainiest in the world' thread!!!

NEW PIC...of the start of our great garden massacre! Yes, if we're not ripping up the house and extending then we're being all Gardener's World! And yes, the green ELC container is staying - it's DPs workshop!

Nice and sunny tomorrow - apparently Oh I sooo need to get out.

JJ verity crawling way to go! get those child lock on the door before she pick up too much speed.

Tee I was that too about the young parents, incredible.

Well I have survived day one of the holiday and only screamed at Ben once , he keeps wanting me to play computer games when I am trying to cook tea and will not take no for an answer unless I start wailing like a banshee . The only thing I can think of is using ready meals that you don't have to pay any attention to but I'm trying to be healthy for us.

hedgepig · 13/02/2009 21:30

saw not was!

JJ it is so treey around you (sorry I know that isn't a real word) it looks lovely

Tee2072 · 13/02/2009 21:34

hedgepig this is why I love my slow cooker. Bung dinner in in the morning, play all day! Hot, nutritious dinner when you are ready for it!

hedgepig · 13/02/2009 21:52

you are very organized Tee I have tried with slow cookers but never really got the hang of them, but it is worth another try. How are you feeling?
