Come join our merry (talkative) band of ladies who lunch - feel sick - are getting fatter - sleep deprived or run off their feet with babies! Some of us suffer all of the above - while trying to retain an air of calm and mystery

All we ask is you play nicely, eat cake and indulge in the occasional gossip and moan about our ills....or anything else that we can think of.

We're like grumpy old women....only not so grumpy...

woopee Ollie has just had some milk .

OMG that belly I'm suprised it didn't detach, Mum41 your on the other had was lovely .

Just had an interesting detour to pick up B from school as two of the 3 roads into the village where the school is are closed and/or flooded and now it is snowing again. The open rd was about a 7 mile detour. Half term has stated her as the teacher are training tomorrow, thank heavens I am on maternity leave as I have no where enough holiday to cover the school hols.

duchesse · 12/02/2009 17:37

hedgepig- children, eh? They do like to keep us busy. Do you know this poem?

BonzoDoodah · 12/02/2009 17:59

Thank you all fro sweet comments on my photo (still getting my hair done though!)

hedgepig - yup geeky scientist - I wondered if you were in pharma. I used to be but now moved on to Equipment and BIG stuff - different but fun. Hurrah at Ollie drinking!

Duchess I?d be kaking it to go skiing at 14 weeks. Woried sick if I fell over. But then I am the clumsiest person on the planet. You?d have to remember that the preggers hormones make you more unbalanced and the bump won?t let you do what you want so much so you?re more liable to get injured no matter how good you were last time. Plus - seriously - I don?t know what altitude it is you?re going but do check it out. It?s not recommended to go to high altitude if you?re preggers or with young children (I read ages ago) So I?d get the details and ask a Doc before you commit.
That said - if you?re really good at it (skiing that is fnar) and fit and confident then go with your gut feeling.

Feel sick - just looked at pic of nutter mother?s huge stomach. If it was natural fine - but eeeewwww [shudder]

Mum41 - lovely belly - I was that big with one! And I had stretch marks.

Can?t agree with you all on the hubby and housekeeping either. I have a saint. Especially as I?ve been flaked out on the sofa for the last 10 weeks sleeping. He cleans the kitchen, fills and empties dishwasher, and washing machine and bins and baby;-) plus makes dinners and my sandwiches and makes me a cuppa too. A Star!

So after all the email working out - jw and I used to live on the same road at the same time - about 300 yards apart! Even know people in common. Small world!
(Nonsense about K?s tests by the way - ignore them all - twits!).

johnworf · 12/02/2009 18:17

Oh I'm not bothered about these tests. I know she can hear me.

Yeah, it's a small world isn't it? I wonder who else I know on here...taking into account 6 degrees of seperation theory.

hedgepig · 12/02/2009 18:34

Is an 8 month hearing test standard JW or was it because she was premmie?

Duchess thank you for the poem it sums up sniffly children rather well .

Bonzo I'm not in pharma but agchem, what sort of machines do you work on? analytical? how bizzare you and JW being ex-neighbours

ermintrude13 · 12/02/2009 19:10

Bonzo it's ages since I've heard someone talk about kaking (or cacking) it. Are you from Yorkshire or do they say that in the NW too? I was brought up in Sheffield and as kids if we were scared about summat we'd say we were going to 'cack our kecks'.

Just saw the octuplet woman's belly. That's so not right - those veins. Barf. All the comments were whingeing about her relying on benefits; I don't applaud that, but I'm far more concerned about her mental state and whether she has the ability to bring up 14 children. Jeez.

mrsboogie · 12/02/2009 19:15

well she doesn't have the money to bring them up, that's for sure!

agchem hedgepig??

mrsboogie · 12/02/2009 19:19

just read further back

What's the deal with the 8 month hearing test jw? is it only for premies? they only test full term babies as newborns so why would hearing change over the course of 8 months?

hedgepig yay for Ollie drinking milk - perhaps he's on the mend?

MUM41plus5 · 12/02/2009 19:50

hedgepig really pleased to hear that, maybe it does mean he's on the mend

bonzo did you also see my snowy pic of the view of the trees from our bedroom window, going to be lopped down soon too for some kind of development, not good I think it,s great the way you stood up for what you believe in!!

jw I can sense the air of 'mum knows best' in your writing, its instinct at the end of the day, you will show them you knew best when she sails through the test in 3 months time

Can someone please tell me where it is you are seeing pics of octuplet mum?

jeanjeannie · 12/02/2009 20:18

Evening. hedgepig that's good Ollie is taking the milk It's so worrying when they don't take anything.

jw and bonzo WAY too weird that you guys know each other....stand by for a bit part in ermintrude's next novel I don't think I know any of you from a former life....even via six degrees of separation. Oh Hang on - I know a teacher in a certain part of of the East Midlands where ermintrude lives....she bound to know him

jw what stuff 'n nonsense about the test

That 8-baby-belly is horrendous. I really hope there is someone watching over those little ones and that woman's ability to care for that many kids over the next 16+ years

duchess love the poem - sums up little snotty noses perfectly.

Have to say that my DP is very good at doing his bit - he always loads the dishwasher and mostly empties it too! He usually hoovers at the weekend and will occasionally wipe down surfaces. But the bathroom....Ahhhhhhh he always manages to make it look like an explosion in a body-hair factory...and you can tell if he's tipped a nappy down the loo - cos the loo brush never comes out afterwards!

OP posts:
hedgepig · 12/02/2009 20:40

thank all for you concern for young O, I think he is on the mend all this snot is coming out of him, mostly onto my shoulder uggg

I can't believe how much snow is coming down here tonight I'm sure it wasn't forecast at all, good job B has finished school because if they were supposed to be open tomorrow I suspect they would be shut IYSWIM.

Yes that is the industry I work in MrsB, how is the feeding the boy up going?

hedgepig · 12/02/2009 20:44

MUM41 the octuplet ladies belly is in the daily mail here

jeanjeannie · 12/02/2009 20:52

hedgepig we've suddenly got snow here too - no mention of it at all on the local radio. We can hear the cars sliding - it'll be a death-trap round here

OP posts:
hedgepig · 12/02/2009 21:01

our local news has been over egging all snow reports for the last week JJ but not a mention of this at all, DH just been out to put the bins out and he says it is very wet so I may melt but we have flooding already so melting will only make it worse.

mrsboogie · 12/02/2009 21:06

same here with the snow - am not happy 'cos I'm supposed to be going into town tomorrow to get my hair done and I hate walking in the slippy. I tend to creep along the inside of the pavement like an old lady. Boo.

hedgepig my work could be closely related to yours then..

hedgepig · 12/02/2009 21:27

Just cling onto the buggy (whether you have D in it or not) I find it is the one positive thing about them. I had wondered is we had some crossover? I will FB you.

johnworf · 12/02/2009 21:49

K had the 8 month test as she is targetted from the one she had done in hospital. I think that the ones in hospital are for all babies (?) where they put the ear muffs on them while they're asleep and bounce the signals off their ear drum and put the wires on the back of their head and read the signals going to their brain? If not, then it's just scbu babies. She's having the 8 month follow up as some of the test she had on scbu wasn't successful due to the background hiss of the O2 she was on at the time.

I'm not concerned at all about these things. I know as her mum, she's fine.

No wet, slippy cold stuff here. Hope all you ladies take care when you go out, if you have to go out.

I've splurged tonight and bought a very expensive duvet...won't say how much but had to run it by DH on the phone when I was in the shop Anyway, love it!

Oh JJ I was going to show you a pic of my new dress I bought for K's non christening in May. Wanted your opinion on it as DH is rubbish with his 'yeah, looks s'alright suppose'...and then followed it up with 'it's a bit old ladyish' I'll find the link for it and put it in facebook Sheesh, I'm getting a complex

I've been badgering DH about what treats (not spending any money treats) he's got in store for Valentine's day for me - more of a wind up - and he says he's going to recite some poetry. So, when I finished my hysterical laughing ......

ermintrude we say cack...or when being polite, cakey as in 'oh cakey' (in front of the children). But I can say that I have cacked my kecks many a time..............on that note..........

hedgepig · 12/02/2009 22:00

Yes O had the stsndard ones in the hospital, I tink it is not unusual for them not t be able to get a clear signal.

Poetry lucky you , is he writing it himself or getting a book of romantic verse out of the library

hedgepig · 12/02/2009 22:05

cripes my typing has gone to pot, I'm off to bed night night

jeanjeannie · 12/02/2009 22:08

jw oh do show me on FB - I bet it's fab. It'll spur me on to get my act together and buy something for Iris and Verity's 'Smells and Bells' affair. I'm thinking I may invest in a long false beard and some Velvet robes to get into the Orthodox 'Vibe'. Hahaha I'll probably end up looking like Professor Dumbledore - more Hogwarts than Holy

Poetry....Nice

Talking of FB - I love that pic of Katherine - so cute - she looks like a little cow-girl with her bandana! And mrsB will you stop putting up totally hot pics of you as your profile pic...or I'll be forced to have NO sympathy with you being tired if you're going to look like that

I've just looked up some recipes to treat DP on Valtine - I'm tempted by Rump steak with Stilton Pockets and a baked cheescake with chocolate and rasberries - obviously I've got to like it too!

ermintrude we used to say Cack in Nottingham....and Kecks too. Although my parents came from London and thought it sounded 'common' .....along with the phrase .."hey yup me duck...yer alright?" Still makes my mum shudder.

OP posts:
mrsboogie · 12/02/2009 22:30

I could never be arsed to spend money on an actual duvet - I've never had one that cost more than 20 quid! I'd love some fancy red or purple satin and velvet duvet covers etc with big cushions and all that.

jw yes D had the same test as a newborn - he failed it too and had to go back later and he was fine. Anyway as long as you're happy that's the main thing. Mummy knows best

Eeek we keep having mini power cuts here and I keep losing tinterwebs

mrsboogie · 12/02/2009 22:40

speaking of spending money - what do you ladies reckon to these?

ermintrude13 · 12/02/2009 22:50

mrsb I can't get that link. Also can't see the hot photo on your profile page - the dark haired beauty who appears in your pics is clearly your daughter so I don't know what JJ's going on about .

And JJ, maybe all my Notts friends are too posh to talk about cacking anything; I'll have to try it out on them. I know it's used in America, but if it goes from here, thru Yorkshire and along/up JW's way, it's clearly a much-used verb in a huge swathe of the country. I say pissflaps a lot and got that from an East Mids boyfriend years ago but nobody else seems to say it. One of my favourite cusses.

Gosh, it's too late for me to be up, nighty night.

mrsboogie · 12/02/2009 23:21

haha photos taken in the half-dark!!

sorry - hope this works

Tee2072 · 13/02/2009 08:00

Morning all.

Cold has come on with a vengeance. Taking the day off work.

JW I sent you a friends request on Facebook. Hope that's okay!

I'm on Hedgepig's friends list if anyone else wants to friend me.

Watch out for all the snow, ladies. Be safe and warm.
