Come join our merry (talkative) band of ladies who lunch - feel sick - are getting fatter - sleep deprived or run off their feet with babies! Some of us suffer all of the above - while trying to retain an air of calm and mystery

All we ask is you play nicely, eat cake and indulge in the occasional gossip and moan about our ills....or anything else that we can think of.

We're like grumpy old women....only not so grumpy...

Hi mum41 and welcome.

I've been such a spoiled brat these last few days ... my mate came round last night and brought a home-Made lemon drizzle sponge (filled with lemon curd and whipped cream) ... just had a HUGE lump with my lunch and OMG it was yummy.
Plus she brought cinema tickets for Slumdog Millionaire and ordered me and hubby out of the house for dinner while she put sproglet to bed! How good a mate is that!! Had a lovely evening out - a meal ... not interrupted by thrown food or howls of "DOWN", no cooking, no dishes and yummy. Plus the film was brilliant.

DD thought friend was brilliant. I've never seen her flirting before! Eating her dinner in an exagerated manner (putting spoon in sideways for effect) and all the time flashing eyes at my mate. After we'd gone she howled "mummy" but friend firmly said " mummy's gone out with daddy".
DD looked her straight in the eye and said "TOAST!".
So we were sadly missed then!

JW I'd like to be stuck in a lift with Alexander Armstrong

kaz OMG that's very cool - she's onto the first stage crawl already! Verity claps and waves when you ask her - but is cultivating the sloth approach to movement

HI Mum41 and welcome to our merry band. Always happy to see a face over 40. I see by your profile you've got twins and yet looking at your piccy you don't look at bit fraught or haggard Mmmm, you may have to share your secret.....we'll give you cake

right ladies! please form an orderly queue to borrow bonzos friend - me first!!

hello mum41 and welcome. Tell us a wee bit about yourself -

btw we can be horrendous natterers on here so you will have your work cut out keeping up with the chat - but its all good!

can somebody explain to me why people choose to out walking/climbing in this weather?? keep hearing on the news about people getting lost/found dead etc. Seems utter madness to me.

mrsboogie · 05/02/2009 14:02

lovely pics Kaz I see she does a nice line in hats

Tee2072 · 05/02/2009 14:07

LOL JJ! Brava! And thanks.

Oh man, the baby is going nuts. And I'm sitting here in a room full of men (with one other woman) and I keep kinda going 'oof' under my breath! I am thinking it can hear how boring all of this is and is trying to entertain me.

The one woman keeps staring at my bump. Just ask already!! Yes, I am up the duff. Knocked up. With child. PREGNANT!!

MUM41plus5 · 05/02/2009 14:15

Thankyou all for the warm welcome

Tee happy birthday I hated my late thirtees, the dread of forty being just around the corner but that all changed when I turned forty, stopped worrying and now enjoying life more than ever, life really does begin at forty

Mrsboogie the chat wont be a problem its getting to grips with typing and learning web speak so forgive me if I seem a little slow
I am 41 (obvious I know) I have 5 children daughter 18 daughter 15 daughter 5 and my twin boys born july 2008, boys hey bit like buses, none for ages then 2 come along at once

have just looked at several profiles and seen some lovely pics looked at too many though to put to names but as I get to know you all who's who's will become a breeze..... loved the pic of little one in bear suit, so cute, gonna end up like my 5 year old, always dressing up

better wake boys to get dressed for school run, raining outside so not much fun, hope you all have better weather where you are

MUM41plus5 · 05/02/2009 14:21

Jeanie cake hey, sounds good to me just really really happy I guess, life really has begun at forty for me mind you, you should see me on a bad day

Neddie · 05/02/2009 14:22

Hi, I am 41 plus 7 months and expecting twins.. I am 7 and a half weeks pregnant. I have 2 children by XH DD1 15(nearly 16) and DD2 6 1/2. I am hoping for either one of each or 2 boys now, but healthy will do.

johnworf · 05/02/2009 14:42

Blimey, has someone put out free membership on here today?

Have an emergency GP appointment for K today. Her cough is bad Hopefully it'll be something of nothing (crossing fingers). I just have that feeling of impending doom and that we will not pass go, go straight to hospital, do not collect £200. Made up batch of bottles just in case.

Cack.

Will let you all know how we fair later on.

Green Sheild stamp story made me chuckle though

hedgepig · 05/02/2009 15:03

JW big hugs to K hope it all goes well, hi to newbies - back to the snot monster

jeanjeannie · 05/02/2009 15:12

Good luck jw fingers crossed that it's nothing to cause concern x

mum41 sounds like you'll fit in a treat - there's a few of the mums on here with big gaps in ages. Life really did begin for me a forty too! My 30s were a bit of a disappointment - but met DP (7 years younger - lots of that here too....cradle-snatching )at 39 - had DD1@41 and DD2@42. I'm a quick worker

neddie HELLO and Welcome Blimey twins too!! There's clearly something in the Mumsnet water How are you feeling - are you in the throws of MS? and are you going to find out the sex or leave it as a huge surprise?!

OK - I'm officially fed up with the snow now. Oh and I'm going out tonight with the girls....off to a noodle bar, so that'll be a bad result for the weight loss I imagine!

JW sending positive be well thoughts K's way. Hope it turns out to be nothing.

Welcome new people! I myself am 20 weeks this week.

Oh, I forgot, new pics up! I don't use my Mumsnet profile for this, they go up here: Tee's Blog

Pics of my HUGE belly and of the scan are there! [GRIN]

BonzoDoodah · 05/02/2009 16:07

Tee forgot it was a big-un .. not just another day! Woo hoo - welcome and isn't it great! No more worrying (not that I did too much - was v happy and shared my 40th last year with DD's 1st. Lovely Summer's day.

I absolutely LOVE that pic of hand on forehead .... Caption " can't a baby get some peace in here?!"

mrsboogie · 05/02/2009 17:39

jw fingers crossed as is well. Do let us know how you get on. Big kisses to Miss K.

Neddie · 05/02/2009 18:11

I'd like to know the sex this time. I think the surprise was that I was pregnant with twins first go and at my age. No vomiting yet but feel quite yuck. I am normally working on my stud farm but have been banned due to some bleeds. My DP is flying in from Germany tomorrow -have not seen him for 3 weeks- i think he will be shocked at how fat I am after only a few weeks.

hedgepig · 05/02/2009 19:49

Hi Neddie I found the sex of my 1st DS but not my second because I wanted a surprise second time around. I'm sure knowing will help you with planning things for twins, apparently you are more likely to have twins the older you are but it amazing two of you are expecting twins on this thread at the same time. Does you DP live in Germany or is him just working out there?

jeanjeannie · 05/02/2009 21:51

Evening all.

JW how is Katherine - is she OK?

neddie Oh that horrid feeling right at the beginning - just awful and as so few people know (or can tell) you're pregnant then sympathy is thin on the ground! Like you I have bleeds at the start with both DDs and yes, the prescription was taking it easy - so I imagine work on a stud farm wasn't what the doctor ordered! Be nice to have your DP around - hope the snow won't be a problem for him getting back.

Apparently all the schools in our area are being closed tomorrow as they're expecting another loads of snow and I thought it was getting better.

mrsboogie · 05/02/2009 23:23

just popped on to see if jw had updated on K. Hopefully she is just busy being nursey mummy and they haven't had to go to the hospital.

It is quite common for older women to fall pregnant with twins - I had bleeding a couple of times myself - taking it easy can't hurt neddie

MUM41plus5 · 06/02/2009 08:18

Morning all, got off the school run this morning weather terrible so dh taken ds to school, really logged on to do Asda shop but just popped in to see how we all are.....

K hope you got on ok yesterday, nothing worse for you than the worry of not knowing!

Jeannie hope you had a great time last night I was home and fell asleep before the end of hustle oh what an exciting life I lead

Neddie congratulations I was convinced at least one was a girl as my pregnancy symptoms were the same as with my girls so you can imagine our surprise when they told us both boys we chose to know as makes it a little easier to prepare for twins but I love to hear when mums do wait till the birth, just wish I had the patience to wait
there was a girl on the ward with me who didn't know and all us other ladies were so excited to know what she had when she came back to the ward so must have been so exciting for her her

Have looked at some more profiles and yes like you say, quite a few in here in a similar situation to myself.... isn't life and being a mum in your forty's just great

Neddie · 06/02/2009 08:20

Good Morning.Re-Question. Mr Neddie is German and lives in Germany at the moment because of his work.Eventually he will move here but as the economy stands he is safer over there.

Neddie · 06/02/2009 08:24

Bristol airport shut. I am going to have a huge hot chocolate with squirty cream on the top for comfort.

Tee2072 · 06/02/2009 08:29

What a bummer neddie! Hope DH makes it eventually.

Just started snowing here in Belfast. Those nice slow falling flakes. I'm on holiday today so I get to enjoy it!

Hope jw checks in soon. I'm fretting a bit about K. Poor little girl.

MUM41plus5 · 06/02/2009 08:39

JW sorry! read posting wrong it's your little girl k, have seen your profile and she is so beautiful, I spent a while looking at your pics and admiring your lovely family!!! You must be such a strong person!!! I know I don't know you but from the heart I hope all went well!!!

MUM41plus5 · 06/02/2009 08:48

Neddie like you say just 3 weeks and growing in size, get used to that I will have to put pic on profile of what you may have to come with regards to size, I couldn't drive from around 34 weeks onwards as not enough room for my tummy and to reach the breaks
hope dh manages to get back ok and soon

MUM41plus5 · 06/02/2009 08:51

What is wrong with me this morning??? 3 weeks, I meant 7 1/2 weeks sorry thats another thing, baby brain hangs around twice as long too, at least thats my excuse this morning
