oooh, I do love a new thread

OP posts:
valz · 19/01/2009 14:05

hi ladies, hope all is well with yas. r we using this thread now instead of the other?

ladyhelen2 · 19/01/2009 16:28

Just checking in on the new thread.

I think I may (and hoping I'm not speaking too soon) beginning to relax now. Am actually thinking, gosh this is only 15 weeks away now, perhaps we ought to start thinking about names, and what we need to buy. We have some stuff from DS but need a new car seat, that kind of thing. So am going to start thinking about thinking about names!

Just wondering about weight gain, any ladies 23 weeks plus. Have you weighed yourself recently? I know in the scheme of all the knicker checking its not really top of the list of what to worry about, but do you think a stone and a half in 25 weeks is OK/too much?

maz32 · 19/01/2009 18:44

hi everyone, after making a big mistake and getting on the scales cn i ask how much weight is averageish to put on for 18 weeks preggers!!??please help! my hubbie thinks im never happy worrying about miscarriage, and now wundering re weight! ha ha xx

maz32 · 19/01/2009 18:46

soz ladyhelen im into my motor mouth!! i posted before i went back and read!! soz xx

Wheelybug · 19/01/2009 19:18

hi All

Teachertalk - hope scan went ok today.

Herby -welcome to the list ! 17 weeks - excellent !!

Crunch - sorry things aren't going well with DH. Hope you get things sorted.

Dan - hope you had a nice duvet day !

On the weight gain - I gained lots of weight in the first 25 weeks or so which made me feel a bit crap as I'd spent 6 months losing weight and had got to a point that I was really happy with (but was obv pleased to get pregnant so not complaining but was worried that I would struggle afterwards with getting it off again) - but I then haven't really put anymore on (despite the baby having done so and I'm still eating !). So at 32 weeks, I've put on 1 stone and 9 lbs which I'm quite happy with. I think the norm/average is about 2 stone. Mind you, last time I put more on sitting around eating cake with my friends after we'd had the babies !!

ladyhelen2 · 19/01/2009 19:25

Blimey Wheelybug am v impressed with your weight gain. That seems pretty good to me. I'm only 3 lbs behind you and 7 weeks. Reckon I'll be an elephant at 32 weeks. I was at my optimum weight when I got pregnant having lost over a stone in the couple of months before. I even lost a couple of pounds in the first 10 weeks, but then thought sod this and started eating loads. I ought to pay more attention to what I eat now as it will make me unhappy if I have a massive amount to lose later.
maz don't worry! How much have you put on?Always good to compare notes.

Wheelybug · 19/01/2009 19:40

honestly Ladyhelen - 7 weeks ago I weighed pretty much the same, have only put on a couple of pounds since. So I had the same worries honestly. I eat loads for the first at least 20 weeks as I felt so sick otherwise but it has slowed down to normal ish (although I eat far more cake and choc than I would normally).

maz32 · 19/01/2009 20:00

ive put on about about 10lbs already! but im just worried cos i put on 4 and a half stone last time!!took me 2 years to loose!xx

ladyhelen2 · 19/01/2009 20:10

10lbs sounds about right to me. I put on half a stone in about two weeks between 10 and 12 weeks so 10lbs doesn't sound too bad at all.
I'm trying to keep my fitness levels up a bit and have enrolled in a preg fitness class. Just got back and am about to have a big lasagne and undo all the good work!!

napa · 19/01/2009 20:12

Hello everyone
Welcome teachertalk hope the scan went ok today
dbno - getting closer now, make sure you get lots of rest now while you have the chance, you too Dan though the cast sounds fun

well boobs not so sore but sickness has stepped up a gear, lots of running to the bathroom at work this morning, then I could have spent the afternoon asleep at my desk. Tomorrow I am up in London for the day and dreading the tube in rush hour (I get travel sickness anyway) and a long day concentrating on budgets and money (the theme of tomorrow's day) when I'd rather be asleep!
DH has taken pity on me and is collecting take away on his way home!!

winemakesmummyclever · 19/01/2009 22:00

Hi everyone - found you!! It is lovely to see so many new names on here. May you all have a long and uneventful stay here!

Still snowed under with uni work, so only a quickie to say all still well here. Well, apart from having to mainline gaviscon, pgp, constant peeing and fatigue and having nothing to wear now as am so huge . Grumpy, but so very grateful to be at this stage.

On the weight gain thing, have put 1 1/2 stones on with this pg. Never really lost all the weight from ds nearly 3 years ago, so feel mahoosive & have started stealing dh's t-shirts in order to stay comfy & fully covered.

Have got anc appt next Wed (36 weeks) - will be given cs date then so will update passenger list as required.

Good luck to anyone who has a scan coming up. Take care of yourselves or put your feet up & let your dh/dp & family take care of you for a wee while.

Positive birthing vibes to downbutnotout, supersteph & dan39 - hope you guys are getting along well and everything goes well over the remaining days/weeks.

valz · 20/01/2009 09:51

Soo excited ladies, ive another scan today at 2.40, cannot wait to see how all is growing, im 10 weeks so i hope i can make things out a bit clearer. hope all is weel with yous.

downbutnotout · 20/01/2009 10:06

teachertalk and valz - good luck today. teacher, your circumstances sound very similar to mine and I had spotting in this pg with a good end result.

Still no baby though. Just staggered up the stairs to weigh myself and at 39 weeks I am 2 and a half stone heavier than before. Not sure if this is good or bad really. I don't look as large as I did with dd, imo, but of course that only makes me paranoid that ds will have a low birth weight despite abundant evidence to the contrary. Will I ever stop worrying?

Thanks for the good vibes, have been trying to rest but am very bad at sitting still. I don't venture far from home any more though. 5 days to go!!

ready2pop · 20/01/2009 10:25

Hello everyone and good luck to those with scans today.

I have my scan tomorrow and am petrified. After more discussion with DH about dates I'm convinced I'll be at least 7 weeks by then so finger's crossed we see a heartbeat. I got this far last time though only to find all had gone wrong at 5 weeks. Still not feeling sick or any other symptoms either.

VillageMum · 20/01/2009 10:32

Hello ladies, I'm just popping in for some comfort... should be 9 weeks this weekend, morning sickness (all day sickness) still bad and I'm feeling pretty low. I'll be having a scan on Saturday and am very apprehensive - I just can't believe that things will go right this time, even though bean got to the 7 week scan. Is it normal to feel this muddled and fearful and panicky? I knew it would be difficult to be pg again after my mc, but didn't expect to feel so down all the time.

ready2pop I will be thinking of you...

teachertalk · 20/01/2009 11:12

Bad news I am afraid - they could only see a cyst type thing in my womb with no yolk sac so they think it is a very early pregnancy (4-5 weeks) which wasn't viable ( I know that I should def be 8 weeks). Unfortunately they can't rule out ectopic cos of no yolk sac so got to monitor hcg levels over the next 48 hours (not too worried about this as scan showed no signs). To make matters worse they won't do d and c due to sac being only 8mm so have to wait for natural evacuation! How long is that going to take I wonder?

Anyway thanks for all your supporting messages and good luck to everyone

valz · 20/01/2009 11:18

HI VM poor you, still the dreaded ms i see, at least its a good sign but i sympathise, i was vomiting this morning on an empty stomach and now hunger has hit and i feel like i need to throw up again, its really awful and seems to last all day with me too.

ready try not to worry, im a bit afraid now too cuz i thought since i havent really had any bleeding or cramping since my last scan all would be ok, i didnt think everything might feel ok but could have went wrong without signs.

Please god all scans go ok this week.

Wheelybug · 20/01/2009 11:51

Sorry the scan wasn't good teachertalk - try and take care of yourself and I hope that things happen soon. I also hope you're back here soon.

I hope the other scans this week go ok for everyone - Villagemum - I remember I kept crying throughout the first trimester because I was so scared of things going wrong. TBH, at almost 33 weeks, I still don't believe its going to happen.

valz · 20/01/2009 12:29

sorry to hear about your scan teacheralk, hope some good luck comes your way soon.

cornflakegirl · 20/01/2009 12:33

teachertalk - I'm really sorry about your scan Take good care of yourself.

daisyj · 20/01/2009 13:17

teachertalk - so sorry about your scan . Be gentle with yourself and come back soon, won't you?

looby - glad all well with you. I love cuddling up to DH when Bo is kicking so he can feel it too. It freaked him out the first time it happened (in a good way, of course). Still makes me laugh when I think about it.

readytopop and Villagemum - good luck for your scans - I can well understand the mixed feelings of having an early scan.

ladyh - haven't weighed myself for nearly a month now, but had put on 1 1/2 stone by 26 weeks . I'm hoping it's all water, though. I don't feel like I've put on much except for my huge bump . I reckon I'll have put on 2 1/2 stone by the end.

dan - how's the dissertation going? Or is that a bad thing to ask...?

Waves to Wheely, wmmc, napa, maz and everyone else. xx. Oh, and dbno of course

Fozzie78 · 20/01/2009 13:20

teachertalk so sorry to hear your bad news, take care of yourself xxxxxx

herbaceous · 20/01/2009 13:28

So sorry teachertalk. How utterly horrible. It's the worst feeling on earth. Have an enormous wallow, and don't try to be 'alright' for anyone. That's what I say.

As for me, I had my booking in MW appointment this morning, at the grand old age of 17 weeks. Very nice midwife, with slightly dippy student, and endless forms to fill in, which for some reason then had to be transferred to computer...

Anyway, nasty tense moment - causing a 'high' reading on the sweat-o-meter - when she couldn't find the baby's heartbeat with her doppler. She did warn me she may well not be able to, but it still sent me into a spin.

But she pulled some strings and whisked me upstairs to the scanning area, where a lovely man found Cromwell straight away, with a lovely beating heart, spine complete with vertebrae, kicking legs and punching arms. It was AMAZING. I am now going to tell work I'm up the duff... I think.

downbutnotout · 20/01/2009 13:35

teachertalk - I'm so sorry, I was rooting for you. Herb is right - have a good wallow and don't let anyone tell you what you should do or when to get over it. I have had ERPC once and a natural end twice and did not find much to choose between them to be honest, though in some ways a natural end felt better emotionally. Just take it easy and look after yourself.

downbutnotout · 20/01/2009 13:37

herbaceous so pleased for you and Cromwell - bet you feel like crying for the right reasons!

Good luck ready2pop and villagemum!

Any twinges yet, dan?
