Hi Fozzie the exact same thing happened to me, went for scan on Saturday then had brown spotting for Sunday Monday and Tues woke up on Wednesday to a flash of red so rebooked scan for that day and all was fine, that was an external one and have experienced no problems since, have another scan again tomorrow, which i am TERRIFIED about! But as always i'll update on here! Nail biting though.. Im so worried! xx

ashleighbeee · 23/01/2009 14:56

(and this was last week by the way no spotting since wednesday last week not this week) xx

Fozzie78 · 23/01/2009 15:37

Ah thanks valz and ashleigh I might see about bookinga private scan. Does anyone use BUPA?

ashleighbeee · 23/01/2009 16:08

I dont use BUPA myself but have heard good things about them, however at my BUPA can only go on Tuesday evenings i think, whereas the private clinic i go to does them all day every day including Saturdays.. but i recommend the private scans as always eases my mind and going again tomorrow! xx

Fozzie78 · 23/01/2009 17:51

Thanks ashleigh, hope everything goes okay tomorrow xxx

deanychip · 24/01/2009 11:45

ah well, back to the drawing board.

mumface · 24/01/2009 11:52

Sorry to hear this deany thinkin of u.

daisyj · 24/01/2009 11:54

daeny - so sorry - can't imagine how painful this must be for you. Hope you can get some answers, and that you are back here soon.

xx

daisyj · 24/01/2009 11:58

For anyone who is getting brownish/red spotting after internal scans, BDing, etc., it really helped me to know that it was just from cervical erosion (or what in my case is charmingly in my notes as 'a large ectropion'!)

I spotted on and off for about a month just before and after Christmas - extra blood circulating as I went into the third trimester seems to be why. Anyway, I even had a little whoosh of red blood one day that freaked me out, but now that I know why I am able to feel surprisingly calm on the odd day I have a little brownish cm.

Just thought I'd post that in case it helps anyone not to panic!

x

ladyhelen2 · 24/01/2009 12:09

So sorry to hear that deany. Thats so unfair. Make sure you look after yourself and hope to see you back here soon.

Gentle · 24/01/2009 13:12

Love to deanychip. Hope things go straightforwardly for you, sounds like you are being very brave but remember it's okay not be, too.

Thanks for all the welcomes, been reading through and this place is so supportive.

9 weeks today and feeling a bit emotional, tummy is sore and am doing a knicker check every 20 mins and convincing myself that what is actually a bit of wee in my panty liner is the beginnings of something worse. Was prescribed some antibiotics this week too for a small unrelated infection. 4 professionals (nurse, GP, NHS direct and pharmacist) have all reassured me that this type is safe in pg but I can't get over the bit in the advice leaflet that says "DO NOT TAKE IF PREGNANT!" and have convinced myself that this is the weekend it'll all be over. Doesn't help that the tablets are enormous and scarlet red, like some sort of cartoon poison... Would love to hear from anyone else who has positive stories of antibiotics during pregnancy please..!

Love to all.

VillageMum · 24/01/2009 15:24

Bad news I'm afraid, ladies. We had our second scan at 9 weeks today and there is no heartbeat now. I will be having an ERPC next week, not sure what day yet, will be speaking to the consultant about it tomorrow. Please think of us. I may not be on here for a while as I just need to be able to come to terms with this second mmc on my own. Thank you all for having been there for me. xx

Gentle · 24/01/2009 16:29

VillageMum I am so sorry, I am 9 weeks today too so I really feel for you. Take care of yourself and hope to see you again. x

downbutnotout · 24/01/2009 18:10

villagemum and deany - my heart goes to you. Take care of yourselves and hope to see ou back when you're ready.

downbutnotout · 24/01/2009 18:16

Welcome gentle - can't help on the antibiotics front, but I'm sure someone will be along who can. Sounds good though if helath profs are in favour. I know what you mean though - my GP prescribed steroid cream for eczema at 20 weeks and I could only bring myself to use it for 4 days as I couldn't stop worrying.

So pleased to hear all the good scan news.

Herby - giggling at the image of Cromwell's little hammer. I am being booted in the side with some force at the moment, alas!

So, as you may have gathered, no baby yet and I haven't killed my in-laws (yet) although I will be eating curry and fresh pineapple while having sex for the next few evenings - I need this baby out (and my house back).

VJay · 24/01/2009 18:28
