The old thread was getting impossibly slow on my computer, so decided that it was time to create a new one with hopefully Rah and Ready joining us, and with a whole new due date list.....

so MrsM, Momwi - come and start the list and hopefully Rah and Ready will come here now too!!!!!

I am so excited that the temp buddies are back together again, can you tell?!?!?!?

blimey-
fettle and chooster eh- number 3?? WEll I love having 3 have no problems here- ok maybe it is more expensive with 3 kids but I guess you spend what you want/have. I think I am sticking with 3 though- fettle very interested to hear about your reflexology course- I really need to find a career path to follow but so hard to know where to start. What lead you into that direction? Is it a part-time/ evening course?

ready- well I have had my babies in same room with me for at least 6mths- probably more... and TBH didnt find it a problem to have the cot up in our room and then move it to baby room later. I have never used a moses basket- had the Amby nest with Dex which I loved but is expensive (although I bought mine second hand). I think moses baskets suit some but generally don't last long- definitely not to 6mths. I liked having the security of having baby in same room- but other's feel they can't sleep with them there cos they are too noisy. I found the baby snuffles soothing though. I found it easier to feed baby as well in same room- sat at end of my bed or brought baby into bed to feed when it was cold. If I were you I would just put the cot in your room- the nursery will still be lovely and you can easily move the cot later (not too much bother to undo a few screws if it wont fit through doors). What does your DH think? My DP didnt have the chance to have an opinion but a lot of blokes find it uncomfortable to have baby in same room- specially if they have a bit of nooky on their mind!

Anyway gotta go have a great easter

Hi girls... been v busy but usual routine of people coming and going.....

Answering some of the questions I have seen... having 3 is fabulous...especially I think as there is 5year+ age gap between 2nd and 3rd, (wouldn't have been saying that had I got pregnant when I first tried 4 years ago)!!! it seems so easy and relaxing and having two older ones who get dressed themselves etc is far easier than having one then a toddler and to combine ready question, DS3 has just gone into own room as he is two big for his moses basket already and he is going down about 7 now - waking up once then up at about 6.30/7 so he has been a star from day 1 sleeping and if we had the cotbed in our room it would be the other end (big room) which is just as far as his nursery next door! DS1 was in own room at 6 weeks and DS2 was about 9 weeks... I think it is what ever you feel comfortable with, babies are pretty tough and if you follow the guidelines of feet to foot etc then you are doing that either in your room or their's - one thing I never did was buy a cot bumper - as the most important thing is air circulating round the cot...will never understand why they sell those...
Hope that helps...oh and ready loving my bugaboo - takes a short while to get used to and takes lots of space but it is fab...

Fettle and chooster definitely go for 3...
Gosh I have gone on - must dash, had friends round for dinner the baby went down like a dream but best check older ones are in pj's etc - Happy Easter to all will catch up in the week - promise!!!

Chooster · 11/04/2009 21:17

Thanks for your views girls! How are finding it wiht 3 boys, I know Lewis is still very small but I'm sure if we do go for a 3rd that he will be a boy so I'll have a trio of blue ones like you. Having already had 3 boys I can't see myself having anything else .

Reflexology sounds great fettle - have you done some training in this area before? Like Honey I'm trying to think of other careers I can do, preferebly ones that you can fit around having kids (2 or 3). Office work just doesn't really lend itself to being that flexible. If my job does go then I'd love to take some time out and re-train.

Good luck finding new premises greedy - thats a huge pain in the arse that you need to move... Could you somehow convert a garage at home or something? Extension????

Glad you've escaped the bug iamamummy - natures way of keeping you still well enough to care for everyone .

Better head off - hope everyone is having a great easter... We're at my parents, well me and the kids are, DH has been working so is still at home. But got a big family day tomorrow and get to cuddle my cousins 3 weeks old baby again.... Bring on those hormones

Hope everyone

rainbowdays · 11/04/2009 22:45

Greedy - hope you find new premises soon. Also have a great time in Paris!

Ready - I kept dc1 in the room for 4 months only but then kept getting disturbed sleep as I was listening to his every snuffle. Got more sleep with him in his own room with baby monitor on. DD slept in our room for 5 months, and ds2 til 6+ months. They all started sleeping in pram!!!! large mothercare silvercross style, which was huge, had a base to put it on and worked well beside the bed.
I have to say that with breastfeeding I found that I was too tired to be trapsing into another room to feed. Much easier when they are in the same room. Although in the last couple of months of pregnancy it is possible to learn to sleep walk while going to the loo, I found sleep walking to go to feed the baby much harder!!!! (sorry I digress!). With ds2 when he reached around 4 months we moved the cot in from the nursary to our bedroom as the pram was getting a bit snug for him. I know what you mean about wanting the nursary set up before the baby arrives - just how I felt this time. I never got to have a nursary before, it was wonderful to have it all done, I still love it.
As for the emotional aspect of pregnancy - it is tough, and the tiredness makes it so much harder. Have you tried spatone for the aneamia?

OK got to get to bed now. Happy Easter everyone

Hi Ready me & dh are very excited for you. Big hugs from East London xxx

We only moved ds into his own room at 8 months which was too late as he was very aware of the change. I think the general noise we make (snoring etc.) was keeping him up so now he sleeps better but we should have moved him earlier. We co-slept in the beginning which worked really well from a breastfeeding perspective milk supply but he became quite reliant on Mummy for sleep. Just go with what works best for you.

We have been using bum genius and love them. You need about 20 in a set. I have to say I don't think the environment is any better off given how often we run the washing machine but I like there being no chemicals next to his skin. You really need to trial a couple before commiting to a set as all babies are different.

Any other questions? fire away

cityangel · 12/04/2009 23:35

oh and have you tried Floradix for the anaemia I took it every day and had good iron reserves

honeyapple · 13/04/2009 09:48

hi cityangel! Good to hear from you- hope everything going well

I think I found that having had baby so close to me for 9 mths- I didnt like the idea of him/her being too far away!

I wish I had some bumgenius! They look great. Lovely colours too. I like the idea of the stretchy tab- although have found with other nappies with velcro that it wears out a bit- so generally prefer poppers. Like fuzzi bunz and blueberry sized.

DD doing another dance festival today so got to get the tutu out...

Hope you all had a great weekend - we had a brilliant time, sunday was so hot and sunny, and it was great to outside all day. Lovely cuddling my little wee cousin - she's a cute bundle .

Hi Ready, sorry that you are feeling a bit run down, I got tablets from GP for aneamia but am sure the suggestions from the other girls may give you more of a natural boost.

DS1 was in his own room / cot at 2 weeks old. He hated his moses basket and just would not settle in it at all, not even during the day. His bedroom was very close to ours and he slept so much better in his own space. I just made sure I had a really comfy armchair in there so I could feed him. DS2 was in an amby hammock which he liked but he was too big for it at about 5 months (looking back perhaps he wasn't too big, but it seemed that it to me at the time). Anyway, he was in his own room by about 3 or 4 months - I forget now?? . You'll know whats right when the baby is here and you get to know what he / she likes.

Urrgh, at work now so better get on.... Am just delaying getting into it as I can't be arsed... Its very quiet though.

hello all! hope you all had lovely easters. we did. we had a wonderful time in paris but i did worry about the kids all the time and couldnt wait to see them again. think i probably drove dh mad going on about them all the time and going on about how expensive everything was in paris...........8.5 euros for a beer! and 14 euros for a cocktail! anyway, we had fun!

nice to hear from you city, minxi and ready!

so much more to say, but i am being summoned by kiki! better go!

ScorpiowithabigS · 15/04/2009 18:01

Ready - get a Stokke Sleepi, then you can use it as mini set in your room for 6 months, and it pushes through doorways etc so is easy to move around.

I have had mine in for 6 months ds1, 4 months ds2 and 7 months Mimi.

rainbowdays · 17/04/2009 18:24

Ready - just remembered I have a four newborn size tots bots nappies, I did not like them, but I know others do. So if you want I could post them to you so you have some to try if you want. Also I found ebay a great way to get reusable nappies without having to spend a fortune!
