The old thread was getting impossibly slow on my computer, so decided that it was time to create a new one with hopefully Rah and Ready joining us, and with a whole new due date list.....

so MrsM, Momwi - come and start the list and hopefully Rah and Ready will come here now too!!!!!

I am so excited that the temp buddies are back together again, can you tell?!?!?!?

Happy birthday Jak!! Wow, you are so right, I still imagine him as a little baby. In the same way though I can't believe my baby is going to be 2 in July - Like the new bunny ear things!

How is everyone? I like your idea of waiting to have another on one hand but on another it may be hard on your older kids to have a baby in tow. I still remember you saying that there were things you wanted to do with Ellis and Kiki but couldn't because Marcy was so small. In some ways you get restricted by the age / ability of the youngest. But, putting that aside, there's a part of me (in a dream world!!) that would like to do it all again once both boys were at school. Speaking of which school looms in a few months for my big baby .

All good here - had started on a new type if pill and its been making me bleed (well, spotting) for about the last 3 weeks and have got a few spots which I never get. It dont think it suits me. I was also thinking about blaming the pill for the half stone I've out on, but then I remember I've been a total pig for the last few weeks . Anyway back to the docs for me...

Chooster · 03/04/2009 19:32

Meant to ask - where are in your cycle rainbow? Are you trying again this month?

rainbowdays · 03/04/2009 21:01

Yep we are trying again this month, I have just ov'd so now in the wonderful 2ww time.... perhaps I will get a nice christmas present this year??

happy birthday jak! Blimey where has the time gone- mind you Dex is 17mth now and that freaks me out. fingers crossed rainbow.

greedy- i have really loved having a big age gap between my lot- having dex at hme with me whilst the other 2 are at school is great. And my 10 yr old is pretty good at keeping an eye on him. I think that they all benefit really- bigger ones get the experience of having a baby/toddler around them and Dex really loves his big bro and sis. They can read to him and play with him and dress him and feed him etc etc. brilliant! Down side is finding things that everyone is happy to do- but actually the DS1 likes going to little kid places now cos he likes to play with dex and enjoys seeing him getting excited.

chooster - happy belated birthay!

on mother's day i got a lie in until.... 7am

fettle · 03/04/2009 21:23

Hi All

Back from a fabulous 2 weeks in the snow - children loved it again.

Can't believe that Jak is 1 either, until I remember that I got your phone message to say he'd been born on the coach back to our destination airport after being diverted due to fog to another random airport in the UK!! Same thing nearly happened today, but this time we got delayed for 2 hours in Geneva instead, which was better....!

Nothing really exciting to report with us.

DD has lost her first tooth and her adult tooth is already through - no room for it though, so she's looking like a crocodile!

Toby is still not talking, but making lots of conversation type noises.

Iammummy - great news on the scan - not long until the 18th! have you any inkling what you might be having?

Greedy - my Mum had my younger brother 7 years after me - so had 20 mth, 3.5 years and then 7 year gap. Have to say I always felt a bit left out - neither old enough to keep up with my big bro and sis, but not the baby either!!!

Chooster - sounds like a good time. Good on your boys sleeping so well. Toby didn't do too badly while we were away either - think lots of mountain air was good!

hope everyone else is ok?

Nettee · 04/04/2009 15:44

A message for Ready

I have just caught up with your news today and I am sitting in tears at the computer I am so happy for you. You prob won't remember me but we were on a TTC thread together (hoping for a positive Jan 07). I was the lucky one and I have an beautiful 18th month old dd to prove it. Anyway I hope you don't think I am some mad stalker but I have kept an eye out for your news over the long months since then and have admired your positivity and support for everyone else through all that time. Good luck and enjoy your DC xxxx

Ready · 04/04/2009 17:08

Sorry I have not been about for a little while. What?s new?

I have been a bit worried this week had palpitations, had to have ecg, and waiting for blood tests to come back to see if I have anaemia or something else untoward. Last Sunday heartrate had shot up from normal low 70s to 110!! Feel ok now, just frustrated really about getting palpitations. GP said it could just be anxiety, but wanted to rule out anaemia or a virus or something? so still a little worried about what the bloods will reveal. Get my results Monday. Wish me luck.

I am 26+2 now, and only 4 weeks left at work. Due to the amount of annual leave and public hols that I still accrue during maternity leave, I had to use it all or lose it, so I am off in 4 weeks ? although mat leave doesn?t officially start til the end of June.

Nettee, thank you so much, so sweet of you to remember me. I do remember you. I did try to remain positive over all those many months. Never thought I would get pregnant if I am honest.

Greedy hope your toe is feeling better soon. Ouch.

Rainbow I can?t believe how quick time flies, cannot believe Jak is 1!! Hope you had a lovely celebration for him.

Hope everyone is ok?

Ready · 04/04/2009 17:41

While I am here... can I ask, those of you who used reusable nappies, what make did you plump for? I have been trying to research it (thanks honeyapple for the nappylady tip) but there are SO many to choose from, it is a bit of a minefield. Any suggestions/pearls of wisdom would be greatly appreciated. I have sooo many more questions, but really don't want to bombard you with them all at once

rainbowdays · 04/04/2009 22:51

Hi Ready - good to hear from you. I have used a number of different reuseable nappies, on each of the children. Part of what works and what does not is the shape of your baby!!! Some have tiny tums and big fat legs or fat tums and tiny legs, or fat tums and legs like mine! . My current favorite is surprisingly the mothercare wraps which I use with the bambino mio inners (as I already had these). I am now a convert to fleece liners too!!!! I think that the key to successfully using reusable nappies is to have your washing system well organised, eg buckets and drying area etc. I personally found the all in one nappies a pain as you always have to wash the whole nappy and for me natural drying was quicker when in two parts and less washing as you can reuse the cover if it is not wet/dirty after a change. Phew that was a waffle, but hope you got the gist of it. Ask away with all questions.....

MrsMcJnr · 04/04/2009 22:59

Hey ladies hope you are all well. Sorry that it has been about 4 weeks since I last posted where does time go? I will catch up properly in the next few days (promise) all well here although there have been a few stresses - they found Strep B in my urine so I've had to have antibiotics and am getting my head round the whole having to be on a drop in labour scenario no turning up at the last minute for me again hugs to you all x

rainbowdays · 05/04/2009 15:01

MrsMc - Sorry to hear that you got the stress of StrepB - they found it with my last pregnancy and told me that I would not be able to have my dreamed for homebirth and would have to have the whole drip thing too. As it happened Jak had other ideas and came in 1.5hours with no time for getting to the hospital so, I ended up with my homebirth afterall. I did alot a research in the meantime, and found that many people are able to have homebirth with strepB, it was only that my IM would not do it due to the rules here. However I would have refused to take the antibiotics anyway, this was following lots of research into it by me, and would have been my personal choice. I knew that as dd came so quickly that there was a chance that I would not get the full 4 hours of drip in anyway. dd arrived in 2.5 hours. With both the previous labours my waters did not break til the last minute, and so the risk is minimal in this instance. Sorry I am waffling now, but I just wanted to say that you can look into alternatives to the antibiotics during labour option as they only work if you have a full 4 hours on the drip and second labours can be faster than this anyway. .... sorry waffling again, this is an issue that I feel passionate about!

OP posts:
honeyapple · 06/04/2009 17:07

mrs- no knowledge of strepb and antibiotics I'm afraid- but I think i'd rather be on the safe side and have the drip- labours don't neccessarily get quicker- Dex was a good bit longer- none of this 1.5 hrs for me!

ready- hope you get some reassurance about palpitations- make sure you have plenty of rest etc... sounds a good thing you will be taking early maternity leave. Perhaps you could join a prenatal yoga class- I found it very good for relaxing/ unwinding.

nappies- i think my favourite for little ones were probably diddy diapers and tots bots fluffles with a motherease airflow wrap. I had quite a selection as I didnt buy a birth to potty pack just a few nappies as I went along. I havent been using reusables for a while (since Dex started walking as his big arse seemed to be getting in his way!) however I was just thinking I must get back into the routine of it- as rainbow says you need a good system of washing/drying. I always air dry as dont own a tumble dryer. I dry pailed nappies and used a mixture of disposable liners and fleece liners.

I also bought a few cute ones- the blueberry ones are gorgeous (but pricey!)- they are a pocket nappy which I also like as they are quicker to put on as only 1 part- ie the waterproof bit is sewn in- but they dry quickly as you take the absorbant bit out (from the middle pocket bit).

I recommend buying a few or getting some samples sent to you before you spend too much on a massive set (and then find they dont suit your baby or you...)

bye for now
love to all
x

greedygreedyguzzler · 07/04/2009 12:36

so why do all reusable nappies have such cute names hey?!!........tots bots fluffles!!!??

Chooster · 07/04/2009 21:07

I never got into re-usables really - I tried a couple of types but in the end I just thought disposables were easier . I wish I had more staying power with it...

Hi Mrs - You must be fairly big now - how many more weeks? About 6 or so??? As you'll probably remember I was tested positive for group b strep as well with Theo. If you have the anti-biotics (I was given the choice although it was recommended I have them) then I know it wont be the birth you want, but at least you've done that with Xavier. I found it OK having the anti-bio drip but then I had a very medicated birth with Max as well so I had no real comparison. Hope everything is OK with you all out there in Spain! .

All is good here - I went for a follow up after Max's sleep clinic and they confirmed he does have sleep apnea and will need to have his tonsils and adenoids out. This will be sometime in the next 8 weeks or so, so well before he starts school. I'm pleased its being done for his sake but hate the thought of him having a GA and someone taking bits of my beautiful DS out .

How far on is your sis Greedy??? Have lost track...

Chooster · 09/04/2009 13:18

Just giving us a bump and sharing with you my ridiculously strong feeling of being BROODY!!!! .

I thought I'd got over all that in the early days but now its back with a vengeance! No idea why... But I keep thinking of being pregnant again and the labour and having a newborn again and getting really.... excited by it! . DH probably wouldn't agree anyway, my parents and PIL would think we were mad and I may be on the verge of losing my job, but the idea still brings a smile to my face.

Ok, so ladies, bring me back from the edge - fettle / bodders - remind me why you are stopping at 2... Greedy, Honey and rainbow (and minxi if you are around) - are there any negatives you can think of of having 3... anything will do .

Chooster · 09/04/2009 13:21

By the way this is not something that has struck me this lunchtime, its been building for the last few weeks. Maybe because Theo is just becoming so super adroable and funny and is so easy to look after - I just can't imagine him being the last now.

fettle · 09/04/2009 17:32

Theo is so easy and the next one might not be - think that scenario through - that's what's putting me off. Toby is so adorable and easy, what happens if I have another DD next time!!!!!!

Be back later - got to go and do baths now!!!!!

ps DH who has always been so NO NO No to another suddenly said 2 nights ago that he's wavering and would quite like another .....

xxx

pps greedy - how is your toe?

greedygreedyguzzler · 09/04/2009 20:18

wow chooster! i think its lovely you are broody!!! cant be that bad having three can it, if we have all talked about having a forth! i personally found it much harder work going from 2 to 3 but i know rainbow disagrees with that and i think i am probably in the minority. i think marcy has been a much tougher baby and i have found it hard since ellis has started at school and wants to do so many more activities and has homework and reading etc. there are a few negatives, but so many positives that i wouldnt change it for the world, so i say go for it!!!

greedygreedyguzzler · 09/04/2009 20:22

my toe is much better thanks fettle! got it sorted by a professional, but its still a bit sore.

my sis is 20 wks chooster!!! next scan next week! i took her out baby shopping the other day. actually, we werent shopping for babies, just things FOR babies. it was lovely!!!

i need to find new premises for my clinic. its really crap and i cant stop worrying about it. but on a positive note................i am off to paris on sunday for 2 nights with dh!!! yIPPEEEEEEE!!!

gotta go home................still at work.....................just need a quick wee and then im off........

Chooster · 09/04/2009 21:55

Wow, so mr fettle is wavering... Could you be persuaded fettle, even if it is another dd??

20 weeks! Your sis must be so excited greedy . I remember that this is when it all starts feeling more real isn't it . is she quite relaxed about it.

2 nights in Paris - LOVELY!!!!! Perhaps baby number 4 could be on the way after all

fettle · 09/04/2009 22:10

Not at the moment chooster. Very happy with my family at mo. Very happy with my life in general really. Almost too happy! Think I've been so low for last six months or so having my coil removed has had a bounce effect! Hoping it lasts....

I just can't imagine another baby in our house but I do love the thought of new born babies and being pregnant again! But I'm also living getting some of my own life back. Just started training as a reflexologist today. That's my new life plan!

Also think 2 hands, 2knees , 2 children but I know greedy disagrees with that argument!!

Wow 20 wks greedy. That has gone quickly. Is she blooming?
Why u moving practice? Good luck finding something. Suppose I'll be in that position in a years time. Although with moving all the time I'll probably have to be mobile clinic.

Sleep well all. Have good Easter. We're off to my neices christening in Ireland which will be lovely. See how broody I am after seeing a 4 mth old !

Xxx

rainbowdays · 10/04/2009 10:09

OK brutal honesty - three IS harder when it comes to getting out and about with most family tickets designed for 2 adults and 2 children. Holidays abroad (not that we ever had any really!), much more expensive having to buy another airplane ticket, therefore much less likely to happen. That's all I can think of, I have too many positives to say and not enough negatives. Sorry Chooster, not much help. I guess that is why I am ttc#4

Fettle - will I bump into you in Ireland?!!!! Have a great time. Also, great to hear you are starting as a reflexologist, will you try to work from home once you have trained?

Greedy - wow, so good to hear your sisters pg is going well.

Ready - did our reusable answers help at all? Or just confuse you further?

OP posts:
iamamummy · 10/04/2009 12:32

hello ladies

chooster - GO FOR IT!!!

fettle - wow your training as a reflexologist, good for you! enjoy your time in ireland

greedy - cant believe your sis is 20 weeks she must be thrilled and feeling so relieved.

mrs - sorry to hear about the strep b, im sure you will be fine and decide what is best for you in time.

big hellos to everyone else!

we have had the sickness and diarohea bug in our house and oscar seems to have given it to everyone he has been in contact with. i have remained out of it for some reason?! must be super immune during pregnancy.

so excited dp is booking us in a 5* hotel in london for 2 nights to see michael jackson

oh and enjoy paris greedy could this be where numero 4 is conceived....?

xx

greedygreedyguzzler · 10/04/2009 21:13

reflexoloy hey fettle? if you lived closer you could come and share a clinic with me! i am having to move clinic cos i work in a dentists at the mo and they are expanding and need my room. its a real bugger cos i will never find anywhere as good again and even though i moan about it, i really dont want to give up and let all my patients down, so i am on the hunt for new premises but everywhere is so expensive.

just been out for dinner and had a lovely time. marc y was full of fun and such a good girl..............they are all late to bed though so will prob be a nightmare tomorrow!

have a fab easter everyone.............

Ready · 11/04/2009 16:39

How great that your sister is at 20 weeks greedy - how exciting. Is she going to find out what she is having at her scan? Hope you find new premises soon.

Hope the course is going well Fettle Chooster you shouldn't be hard on yourself about not perservering with the reusables - you have to do what is best/easiest for your family.

Thanks honey and rainbow for the advice on the reusables? it was helpful, thank you. I have done plenty of research too, and I LOVE the look of the bumgenius, but I will try out a few first before I commit to anything.

27 weeks here ? and I am an emotional wreck at the moment. I cry at the drop of a hat. When I say cry I mean blub like a baby. I am really struggling to sleep for more than 2 hours at a time at the moment. I?m so tired, my legs ache, got mild anaemia, face has erupted in spots and my belly button is sore from all the stretching!! BUT I?m not complaining, honest!! When the baby kicks (or rather now it?s more protruding) it makes it all worthwhile

Well? next question How long did you all keep your babies in your bedroom with you? I read that babies should stay in your room until 6 months. I don?t want the cot in our bedroom as I want the nursery to be set up before the baby arrives, and to stay that way. If that makes sense? So we have been looking at moses baskets, but we don?t really like the look of them, and I have also read that babies don?t stay in them for long. So just looking to see what everyone else did? Help.

So? how is everyone?

Happy Easter.
