Had morning sickness with ds.

Much much worse this time round. Everyone's saying it's because it's a girl. (Don't know yet, only 7 weeks!)

Is there any truth in the old wives tale?

No, was not sick with either of my DC's and I have one of each.

MrsMattie · 01/01/2009 18:09

It was true for me.

Had moderate-bad MS with DS.

Had hypermesis with DD.

It's all bollocks, though, isn't it?

beautifulgirls · 01/01/2009 18:10

Had it moderate with DD#1, had it bad with DD#2 so even with the same sex baby it is not always the same at least in my case.

SheWillBeLoved · 01/01/2009 18:10

...

What happens to women who don't suffer from it? I'm one of them, and obviously my baby has a 'sex'.. so what's going on there?

pooka · 01/01/2009 18:10

I had no morning sickness with dd.

With ds had very mild nausea, but never sick, for a couple of hours in the late afternoon every day for the first couple of months. But had a greatly restricted appetite = couldn't face large ranges of food.

cyteen · 01/01/2009 18:11

Dunno, I had none with DS but know other mums of boys who were mildly to very sick...

Picante · 01/01/2009 18:11

Er we don't talk to people like you SheWillBeLoved.

No morning sickness with any of mine. Slight nausea for a couple of weeks.
3boys and 6girls.

Picante · 01/01/2009 18:18

Blimey Juuule!

Ok so it's not looking good for the Old Wives Tale so far...

The male sperm determines the sex.

ByThePowerOfBaileys · 01/01/2009 18:27

Not in my case
Severe morning sickness with DS1 (lost 2.5 stone during pregnancy) stopped being sick the minute he was born.
DS2 started off the same but it all totally stopped at 7 weeks - I thought I was going to have a miscarriage because I decided the hormones weren't strong enough - but sure enough on due date he was born.

mosschops30 · 01/01/2009 18:27

No sickness with either ds or dd

SnowOfHands · 01/01/2009 18:29

Oh it's all crap.

You will have a baby. It will have one of two genders. None of the old wives' tales are true. Apart from the shape of your bump, that's scientific fact.

Amapoleon · 01/01/2009 18:30

No sickness with dd, sick from start to finish with ds.

TWINSETinapeartree · 01/01/2009 18:31

awful morning sickness with dd.

MegBusset · 01/01/2009 18:31

I didn't have it too badly with DS (felt nauseous but no vomiting). Had it much worse with this pregnancy -- throwing up several times a day, and August/September were basically a total write-off as I felt too awful to do anything.

But I'm having another boy, so that throws that theory out of the window for me...

keels26 · 01/01/2009 18:35

Quite bad morning/afternoon/evening sickness with ds but not so bad with dd, only actually sick twice in whole pregnancy.

dinkystinky · 01/01/2009 18:39

No sickness with DS or this time (apparently another boy if the 20 week scan with the dangling willy is to be believed)

kayzr · 01/01/2009 18:42

No morning sickness at all with my 2 boys.

SparkyFartDust · 01/01/2009 18:42

hyperemersis with DD1
morning sickness with DD2

new research again highlights link between blood sugar levels and sickness rather than anything to do with gender of baby.

Simplysally · 01/01/2009 18:42

I had mild nausea with dd which led loads of people to predict a son for me as otherwise a girls hormones would be "clashing" with mine which which according to them causes morning sickness.

Well, that proved to be wrong.

IAmTheNewQueenOfMN · 01/01/2009 18:43

no sickness/nausea at all with dd1

awful months of nausea with dd2 and 3

TheInvisibleManDidIt · 01/01/2009 18:52

have 2 ds's. Was sick from the moment I fell pregnant to the moment I gave birth. Both times.

Even worse with ds2 though. At 20 weeks weighed less than i did when I fell pregnant.

Picante · 01/01/2009 19:15

Oh well!
