My Waters Went on Monday at 22+4 :(

Hi,

Does anyone have any experience of really premature rutured membranes ?

My waters went on monday as a result of an infection i picked up having an emergency stitch put in last week.

Babys fine and the stitch is still holding, i've not gone in to labour but obviously this is a grim situation and we're likely to lose our baby boy.

I'm on some wacking great antibiotics which are making me feel hideous but i have been discharged from hospital, there is nothing mroe they can do there apparently so i am home on bedrest praying babys lungs develop and he stays put for a few more weeks to at least give him a chance.

Does anyone know anyne who has been though this ?

Glad all still ok Worszel. At least the steroids will be out of the way soon. Don't remember them hurting much, but do remember feeling hot and red for a coupla days!

Even if your waters don't reseal they can keep leaking for weeks and still be ok.

Fingers crossed for a very uneventful and boring few days!

Keep us posted on how you go x

Glad it went ok M2O and good luck with your results I have read soooo many tales oer the years of women conceiving just after and lap & dye so i'll cross my finges for you x

24 weeks today and i'm just back from my first steroid jab. It didnt hurt as much as it did when i had it with DD, maybe the mw then was a sadist and the one today was lovely

I was a bit leaky last night.. well, i kept waking up feeling it but discovering nothing so i think i was leaky, i must have been up 6 times althoug i shouldnt moan to much as its my own bloody fault for eating a tube of fruit pastiles just before i went to bed.. i was never going to have a resfull night with all that sugar !

Mw had a feel of my tummy today and said baby and bump both feel a good size for 24 weeks which is good

I WILL NOT GO IN TO LABOUR TODAY !

I felt exactly the same when I was 23 weeks going towards 24 and cos it was from infertility treatment I wasn't able to con the doctors that I was already 24 weeks so they would treat me as viable iyswim

Been reading your thread Worzel, I am really glad you got to 24 weeks okay, it does seem like a milestone doesn't it? You just rest and keep your little man in there as long as he will possibly stay. Have they said to you that it is likely you will get into labour soon or is there any chance of him staying put for the next 16 weeks?

I dont really know what they are planning on doing with me from now on. I think it'll just be a case of waiting til i go in to labour and then whipping the stitch out and letting me get on with it. The consultant said they wouldnt stop the labour as i have no waters but i dont know if that'll change should i be lucky enough to find when i have my scan that the levels are not that bad.

I am still losing but very little, not as much as i shoud be accumalating i think and bumps growing and babys still very active nd honestly i feel fine, this pregnancy is a lot easider then my pregnancy with dd was.

All good signs i think.

Bedrest sucks though, Dd's at my mums for a week and i really miss her

Well done for getting to 24 weeks WM! Have a look for Johnworf on here who had her DD at 24 weeks in the summer. She usually posts on the 40+ mums thread and has lots of pics on her profile of her DD (K) who is now nearly 6 months I think and doing really well.

Oooo thanks m'loves

I need to think of a festive type name for myself..

Fully steroided out today yay !

scarey conversation with the MW this morning who said if i go in to labour now they will just give me an section... wth a 'classic' vertical incision . scared the shit out of me to be honest.

I must NOT go in to labout for at least 2 weeks ( preferbly 10 )!

Very leaky night and have deflates agan, i love having a bump too I think babys big head was plugging the rip in the bag and he was having a right party yesterday.. i'll have to have words i think !

Hi Worzsel how are you doing today?

Wonder why midwife says that'd do a c section. Did she tell you a reason?

Report
WorzselMincepieYummage · 08/12/2008 12:30

I'm fine thanks nothing to report really.

I think the section would be to give the baby the best chance as he's so small at the moment. The Mw said they'd probably only do it ( the classic section ) before about 26 weeks, to give him the best chance i suppose as he'll be so fragile.

I guess me having the stitch in will cause problems too as they wil have to get that out before i can even start to dilate and they have to do that in surgery.

I am not adverse to having a section atall, if thats whats for the best for the baby but i would really rather not have to have the old fasioned sort !

Oh I dunno to be honest, they all seem to tell me different things. I need to talk to my consultant realy but i keep getting his stupid grinning cronies.

Scan on weds, i guess we'll get a better picture of how well babys doing then and how big he is too, his sister was fairly big for gestational age when she was born so hopefully he'll have her genes

Thanks for asking

Hi Worzsel, have been watching your thread and thinking of you and praying for you.. well, as much as I pray which is not very much, it's more like a frequent thought to Whoever, "Please let WorzselsMummy hang on for however long she needs to so she and her baby boy will be safe".
Love and hugs and lots-of-amniotic-fluid thoughts for you from Canada.

WorzselMummage when my dc was born at 26 wks I had to have a classic c section. on the outside they went through my old cs scar but internally they had to cut down as well as the baby was so small. for my 28 wk dc it was just the normal cs (birth done as emergency)

He Worzel

Sending stay put vibes for your little one.

When I was in having DD in August the woman opposite me had been in since her waters broke at 21 weeks and she was at 28 when I went in (2 weeks before DD was born) she had 2 trips to delivery at 29 and the day I had DD but I got a text a month ago saying they DS had been born safe and sound at 39 weeks by section.

Just seen this thread and wanted to say a friend of mine had this happen - at 22 weeks - a few years ago now. She carried on losing water all through the pregnancy, and was told to drink lots of water and basically stay away from shops, schools, sources of infection generally (we didn't visit if we had colds etc). She had scans every week - consistently very little fluid but baby OK. She ended up going to 35 weeks before getting an infection and having a CS, baby is fine (only ill effect slight hearing loss in one ear) - now a bouncing 4 year old. So it can be OK!

Been lurking on this thread. Just wondering how the scan went today (if you've already had it). Good luck.
