Hi,

Does anyone have any experience of really premature rutured membranes ?

My waters went on monday as a result of an infection i picked up having an emergency stitch put in last week.

Babys fine and the stitch is still holding, i've not gone in to labour but obviously this is a grim situation and we're likely to lose our baby boy.

I'm on some wacking great antibiotics which are making me feel hideous but i have been discharged from hospital, there is nothing mroe they can do there apparently so i am home on bedrest praying babys lungs develop and he stays put for a few more weeks to at least give him a chance.

Does anyone know anyne who has been though this ?

Hi Worzel - sorry just another lurker here with nothing 'useful' to add but have been thinking about you and your little boy so much and sending you lots of positive thoughts. When I first read the thread I was thinking 'if only you can get to 24 weeks' - and now youve managed that so just keep going. You sound amazing xxxx

kasya · 10/12/2008 19:46

Worzel, stay strong, you are doing so well, you're holding your baby in and every day makes a difference so focus on getting through one day at a time ((hugs)) to you.

I have been following your thread and lathough I don;t have any experience of going through anything similair or any words of advise - I just wanted to say that I am thinking of you. Hang in there...

JumpingJellyfish · 12/12/2008 14:07

Hi Worzsel- been lurking and wanted to wish you and your lil man all the very best, will be holding you both in our thoughts.

Have you been onto the Bliss (premature baby society) messageboard at all (see: www.blissmessageboard.org.uk/ ? Whe my DS was still little (he was born at 30wks, but due to pre-eclampsia) there were a group of ladies on the pregnancy board with low or no fluid, and really lovely supportive bunch, and I'm sure there are still ladies on those boards who have been through similar. From what I recall the pregnancies with the exception on 1 all had very good outcomes, some made it nearly or fully to term, I think only 1 had a very early baby- and that little one is doing great now. I think the hardest thing is the uncertainty and powerlessness of the situation. But like others have said the best place for your LO is inside you, even with no AF, every day counts.

Huge hugs xx

jabberwocky · 12/12/2008 19:55

Just checking in and hoping everything is OK

oopsIstuffedaturkey · 12/12/2008 21:26

Just popping in to say you are all in my prayers. Little Worzel please stay put and grow nice and strong for mummy!

chloemegjess · 13/12/2008 01:04

Hello. I have only just seen this thread. I feel very for you. I am 22 weeks and can't even begin to imagin what you are going through. It must be really scary and sending you big virtual hugs.

Really hope your little boy stays in there for as long as possible. I will be thinking of you.

One thing I really want to ask (hope you don't mind). What is a "classic" section? Never heard of that one?

I do know of a friend of a friend who was in a similar situation to you. Not sure exactly when her waters broke, it was somewhere between 20-30 weeks though. She had a stitch etc and then went on to have a healthy baby at 37weeks!

Good luck and do keep us updated. Try not to miss your DD too much, how old is she?

xxxxx

treedelivery · 13/12/2008 01:22

Lurking about and sending you vibes.

You're doing an amaxing job and I wish you well hun. Bless you.

treedelivery · 13/12/2008 01:26

Classic section - scar runs from top to bottom not side to side low down [lower segment caesarian section, LSCS]. Sometimes done in premature women as the lower segment hasn't formed yet, it forms about 26 weeks and then the uterus looks like a pear instead of an egg. The LSCS happens where the pear shape narrows.LSCS is preferable as it's a stronger wound for any future labours, but classical is an option too.

cjjacarr · 13/12/2008 02:42

I am so sorry to hear about what has happened a friend of mine went through this last year i was with her throughout she lost her little boy unfortunately he was stillborn the difference was both her waters went at 24 weeks he just wasnt strong enough to survive the labour she had also had bleeding throughout the pregnancy. I am sure if you just rest up things will work out for you i'll say a prayer for you and your baby all the best love and prayers x

chloemegjess · 13/12/2008 03:29

Ok, thanks for explaining the c-sections to me.

You are doing a great job and the best you can. You are in our thoughts and I will keep everything crossed for you.

treedelivery · 13/12/2008 13:43

Hope your Ok Worzel. x

jeanjeannie · 13/12/2008 14:09

Worzel - only just seen this thread and just wanted to send huge (((hugs))) and support.

I lost virtually all my waters at 25.5 weeks with DD1. It was scary - lots of time in hospital - monitoring - steriod jab - scaning and going form zero fluid to it building up and going again. It was a rollercoaster. One day I'd leak constantly and the next nothing. I took temp contstantly to look for changes that could indicate an infection.

I hung on till 33 weeks (when I did get an infection) and she was delivered by an ordinary c-section and we had 2 weeks in Spec Care. All is fine now - and she's two years old

Good luck - hang on in there and take it easy. x

chloemegjess · 13/12/2008 23:03

How are you today? Hope all is well.

WorzselMincepieYummage · 14/12/2008 11:19
