Hi,

Does anyone have any experience of really premature rutured membranes ?

My waters went on monday as a result of an infection i picked up having an emergency stitch put in last week.

Babys fine and the stitch is still holding, i've not gone in to labour but obviously this is a grim situation and we're likely to lose our baby boy.

I'm on some wacking great antibiotics which are making me feel hideous but i have been discharged from hospital, there is nothing mroe they can do there apparently so i am home on bedrest praying babys lungs develop and he stays put for a few more weeks to at least give him a chance.

Does anyone know anyne who has been though this ?

Forgive my stupidity but what is an affirmation ?

i think it's almost like a prayer, where you visualise something happening and hope like crazy that it works out. (that's probably not quite right but it's the gist.)

WorzselMummage · 02/12/2008 16:35

Ahhh i have been doing that lot .. mainly at around 4 am when i have my worry head on.

hope it works !

Feel good again today. Absolutly nothing to report.

Not in labour, no infection, no more fluid loss and it's been several days now so i am hoping and praying the bags resealed, i had a lot of loss on tuesday last week and the occasional dribble on weds but nothing since and when i had the speculum exam yesterday she said she cold just see normal discharge.. thats got to be a good sign hasn't it ?

I have the consulant tomorrow so i will ask him what he thinks is going on, its confusing me.

Bloody ferrous sulphate are giving me a dodgy tum though and i have indigestion but cant take anything because of the antibiotics.. rubbish.

hope your all well x

Oh Worzel - Just read through this thread and will keep my fingers crossed for you that all goes well.

Just wanted to add as well that a woman at my babyclub's son was born at 26 weeks and he is no different than the other kids of his age.

Fingers crossed yours stays there for a little while longer though.

My waters broke @ 23 weeks and then was admitted to hospital

Identical Twin pregnancy

They held on 'til 27 weeks and lost DT1 several hours old but DT2 {kangaboy} is 13 years old and is huge so don't believe everything you hear about premmie babies cos mine was tiny {too small for clothes} and now is over 5' 8" in size 8 feet

He was in NNU ITU for 3 months on oxygen etc

+++++++++++++++++++++ vibes for you and your little baby

rrrayray · 02/12/2008 17:03

Awwwww What a nice story RTKangaMummy....

5ft 8, size 8 shoes at 13... Good lord, you have a Strapping Lad on your hands there!!

Glad bubba is still in tum mummage. x

lizziebeth · 02/12/2008 17:11

Glad you're still at home and not having any sign of labour. Not many more days now til 24 weeks. Got all my fingers crossed for you.

Positive thoughts sent your way xxx

mummy2olivia · 03/12/2008 19:01

How are you worszel?

WorzselMummage · 04/12/2008 09:25

Hiya

I'm fine thanks, feeling almost normal actually

baby's a bit quiet but i think he's turned with his back to my front so i can only really feel him headbutting my bladder ( which is great considering i have to drink 2l of water a day.. ) I have a Doppler and can hear he's ok. Its such a reassurance !

Nothing new to tell really, My mums coming today to have dd and our dog for a week so thats a relief for me. I intend to lay about the house doing nothing. I'm starting to get a bit bored now, thank God for Virgin On Demand and wireless internet. I watched Love Actually yesterday and had a god cry, T'is such a good film.

I went to clinic yesterday and it was a complete waste of time really. I dont know why they dont just ring me for a chat and ask how i am feeling rather then make me go and sit at the hospital for hours waiting for them to take my blood pressure and test my wee.. i can do all of that at home and they never actually tell me anything. The Dr i saw yesterday just grinned at me for 20 minutes and then told me that i needed to get to 28 weeks to have a chance for baby.. i felt like kicking her under the table.. its not like i get a say in when i go in to labour is it, i mean, if it was up to me my pissing waters wouldn't have broken at 22 weeks and my cervix wouldnt have needed to be sewn shut (and my legs would be 6 inches longer and i'd be less hairy)

Anyway 24 weeks tomorrow and i have to go back to the hospital for the steroids. I am not looking forward to them i have to say. I had them last time and they HURT but hopefuly they wil do some good.

scan next wednesday too and i guess then we'll get told if a, my bodys really shit and all the fluid has gone and isnt rebuilding or b, i am a medical miricle and it all looks normalish...

Thats it from me, nothing else to tell.

I hope your all well xxxx

Just seen this.

My waters broke at 29 weeks and the twins were born within half an hour, both are fine now. 10 years old!

You sound like everything is going really well! You are indeed a mediacl miracle and that little boy is determined to make it

Keep your feet up and rest. I am so glad he has stayed in there.

mummy2olivia · 04/12/2008 09:49

Oh Worszel- please allow me to kick that dr for you! If I hadnt had a lap and dye yesterday, I would just love to give her a kick for you!

Good luck with the steroids- I have heard that they hurt but am glad you have got to 24 weeks. Everyday is a blessing- thinking of you x

bronze · 04/12/2008 09:55

I managed a month after sprom. That month was the time needed to make the difference huge in survival rates. Make sure dh keeps looking after you and take care.
You should have kicked that doctor. 28 weeks isnt some magical mark and she should well know that. Hang on in there every day helps.

OrmIrian · 04/12/2008 09:58

Fingers crossed. I have a friend who went into labour at 24 weeks and the tiny prem baby boy is now 4 and has just started school.

VaginaMonologues · 04/12/2008 10:05

I managed 8 weeks after PROM. Was on bed rest, only allowed up for bathroom visits, drank lots of water. I did go into mild labour once and it was stopped with fluids and Jack Daniels (on the advice of my Texan nurse).

Best of luck!!

WorzselMummage · 04/12/2008 10:07

Thanks largeG&T !

M2O how did it go ? we'd just started fertility investigations last year, I had a hysteroscopy and scans and stuff, we'd been trying for 2 and a half years and it was so bloody completly shit

I got pregnant then had a mc at 13 weeks then 5 months later got a BFP with this baby so try an keep positive, it will happen in the end

*nice clear tube prayers

WorzselMummage · 04/12/2008 10:10

jack Daniels sounds good.

i'd kill for a massive glass of red wine at the moment.

mummy2olivia · 04/12/2008 10:24

It went ok I think was in such a rush to get out the hospital I dont actually know!! Just didnt want to be sick in front of the nurses which on reflection, is completely stupid!

Think they found a bit of endometriosis which I expected and am just waiting for the secetary to phone me back and let me know my tubes are not blocked so we can carry on TTC.

Am feeling quite positive though- investigations are shit but have kind have come to terms with the fact that if I am one of the tiny percentage that it will never happen for (for which there is no reason I should be), then I have my DH and DD and need to be grateful. I am at one with that right now.

Thanks for asking x
