Found it!

Morning all.

Actually slept well. With very weird dreams about setting up a printer at work. Which is not part of my job.

johnworf · 22/11/2008 08:39

Aha! Found it Loving the new title but keep looking over my shoulder as I'm not sure I qualify

Nothing much of note planned for today. DH and DSS off swimming. Can't wait until the girls can join the boys. Daren't take her there until it's summer time.

I think I'm going to take some pics of nappies to sell on used nappies website as they're now too small for K. Not buying any more sized ones and have the motherease which should take her through to potty training.

K slept well last night. We all turned in early at 10.30pm as were shattered. K had been awake most of the day so we were quietly confident we'd have an uneventful night....and we were right! She woke us at 6am and after a nappy/clothing change/feed she's gone back to sleep

I've had to put a block on buying her gifts for xmas. She's already got loads and I doubt she'll actually play with them all. I am however looking for a decent play mat. I like the look of the Galt inflatable ring but if any other good ones out there for recommendation, please let me know

I dunno why but I've suddenly gone from being not bothered either way to thinking Guy Ritchie is a bit of a star for getting rid of the controlling hag. Shame they've split the kids up though.

jeanjeannie · 22/11/2008 09:27

Morning. Worst night so far. Got to sleep at 5.30am (after the milkman finished shouting) when Iris came in bed with us and awake at 8pm as Verity had done an exploding poo.

Cheers for sorting out the link mrsB I'm anything but yummy today - slummy, yes

tee I dreamed (in the 3 hours I had asleep)that i was sitting my O levels! Only no one told me that it was the actual exam so I was just doing the questions I liked the look of And DP (who never dreams) dreamed that a meteor hit the front door and made a huge nest of spiders.....

jw I got the galt ring and Verity loves it. So does Iris - who turns it upside down and uses it as a mini trampoline. (added pic of Verity in it!)

Pleased you had a good night and

Oh Madonna is just soooo dull. Short, boney and weird. Something I thought of - do you remember that Tom Cruise and The Kidman adpoted 2 kids......what happened to them now that they both have LOs by other people. Poor little things. My gaydar still goes off like a rocket when I see pocket-size Cruise.

johnworf · 22/11/2008 09:54

JJ I do believe that the adopted ones are now out of fashion and have been banished to the Harry Potter under the stairs cupboard to languish with the karate suits, tap shoes and all other passing phase things.

Christ, dunno how you do it and not lose your rag with tiredness. I'd be biting anyones head off within 10 paces. How come you didn't get to sleep until 5.30?? Are your girls taking it in turns to stay awake?

Thanks re the Galt ring. Shall get her one methinks. May get the arch to go with it but not sure yet.

Still can't get on the Debenhams website. It's shut down for xmas I think.

lilibet how you doing today dear?

mrsboogie · 22/11/2008 11:19

'ullo all

Glad you found it. D finally settled about 1am so got some sleep thank god.

Re Guy/Madge - I couldn't believe it when I heard she was divorcing him on the grounds of unreasonable behavior! I don't know how a person could be any more unreasonable than her!

The Cruise kids are living with Tom Cruise's mother I believe - I think Suri has rendered them redundant from their "making daddy look hetero" role.

OP posts:
johnworf · 22/11/2008 11:28

Am I right in thinking that Tom Cruise is gay?

Tee2072 · 22/11/2008 11:36

Well, that's the rumour JW but its never been confirmed or anything.

mrsboogie · 22/11/2008 12:10

hence the Scientology...

OP posts:
johnworf · 22/11/2008 12:44

oooh errrrr. Well I never !

mrsboogie · 22/11/2008 12:51

It's almost universally acknowledged - problem is he is very very litigious so no-one dares say it openly. You can see why - his career totally depended upon him being perceived as straight.

OP posts:
lilibet · 22/11/2008 13:08

Yummy?? Glad I don't have a profile with pics or wou would certianly turf me out

Sarah hello, welcome and congratulations!! I'm the granny of the group at present, I'm 45 and dh is 34 . My children are 20 next month, 15 and 12 on Friday.

Johnworf - well done K, bless her, I don't wnat to speak too soon but she does seem to have cracked this, doesn't she

jj sorry you've had a bad night, how are you not bad tempered and grouchy?

I know what you mean about Madonna and by some strange coincidence, when I was sat in the waiting room yesteday, I was looking through an old OK and there was a pictre of Tom Cruise with Connor and Isabelle, they are now very grown up. Tom Cruise is a very strange little man.

I'm not doing too badly, onwards and upwards and all that. Yesterday before I got up the new Take That was on the radio, the one that starts, "this could be the greatest day of our lives", heard it agin on the way there and again on the way back - I think I may be turning off the radio in future if I hear it

I was thinking of my mum yesterday, I have mentioned before that I was adopted? It's not really something that is talked about, I've always known and always been fine with it, but a few years ago I found out that mum had always miscarried at 12 weeks. They told her that her womb wasn't big enough to take a baby beyond that (this was the 40/50/early 60's!!). I don't know how many times she went through it, but I really feel for her, we don't have the kind of relationship where I could talk about it to her, but imagine going through that for all those years.

We still haven't been on a carpet hunt. (We're going on a carpet hunt, we're going to find a cheap one, what a beautiful day, we're not scared, uh ho, salesmen.........)

mrsboogie · 22/11/2008 13:36

lilibet glad you are bearing up old girl.

Your poor mum - miscarriage is terrible enough when you already have kids but when you have to keep going through it wondering if this time it will work - must be soul destroying. At least when you have already had one you know that it is possible and they are a comfort to you.

Still, that stuff about her womb not being big enough hmmm - they did come out with some nonsense back then - my mum had all of us by Ceasarian. She told me recently that the docs had done sections on her because as she hadn't gone into labour by her due date each time they said labour "was never going to happen" . Most odd.

Afternoon all. Now, I must take issue here about shortness. JJ, Madonna's boniness and weirdness are presumably within her control, but her height certainly isn't, and at 5'4" I'm sensitive to these things. I used to be average height, and I'm not shrinking, but average for a woman is 5'5" now so everyone else seems to be getting taller! But please. We can't help it. And actually, I quite like it.

JW, give that Katherine a shiny for sleeping through (see, I'm genning up on pre-school programmes in preparation for new arrival. I only know Tracey Beaker these days so need to get my CBeebies knowledge up to date).

I know Tom Cruise is a nutcase and apparently in denial about his sexuality, but I did go through a phase of having extremely rude dreams about him

...just had to leave typing this to go and throw up everything I've eaten today. I could do with losing a few pounds, but this forced bulimia is no fun at all. I do hope that when the placenta takes over by week 14 things will improve but that's still nearly 4 wks to get thru. blllleeuuurrrghhhh.

mrsboogie · 22/11/2008 14:01

I always wanted to be shorter than than I am (5ft 10)ermintrude - always had trouble getting clothes to fit and didn't like being taller than blokes when I wore high heels. However I have come to appreciate being tall for one v good reason - you can get away with putting on a lot more weight without it being obvious as it is spread around a greater surface area!

OP posts:
ermintrude13 · 22/11/2008 14:51

You're right about the weight distribution mrsb. Although, I suppose that since I'm generally smaller I don't need to eat as much as someone who's 5'10" and so the proportionality factor isn't an excuse. If I eat the same number of doughnuts as my tall friends I am simply being greedier than they are and will get fatter. However, I always seem at least as hungry as my tall friends, and suspect that I've got the wrong sized stomach - some mix-up in utero perhaps - and that my digestive tract is actually built for a 6' rugby playing bloke. It's a trial.

Tee2072 · 22/11/2008 15:41

I have that same trial ermintrude only I'm just barely over 5'1"! Although I usually round up and say I'm 5'2".

In fact I just told my DH this morning that if its a girl I hope its taller than me but shorter than him (he's 6'2") but if its a boy I hope its at least his height!

Sorry to hear you're still having a rough time of it. I almost hurled in the middle of Tesco today, so tons of sympathy!

jeanjeannie · 22/11/2008 17:43

Hello all and firstly HUGE apolgies for any height references that may have caused offence My bessie mate barely makes 5ft and we've all teased her mercilessly - so I'm sorry, old habits and all that. I've believe I'm about average....thereby being 'dull' !!

ermintrude your analogy of doughnut eating/greed and getting fat is a wonderful example of how unfair life is

lilibet gosh, how sad for your mum. It's often not till you go through something yourself that you can see the reality of it for someone else. My mum almost died of pre-eclampsia and didn't see me for 48 hours - followed by 3 weeks in hospital. When Iris was born I didn't see her for 12 hours and stayed in for 17 days - only then I could appreciate how it must have been back in 1965

LOL@ at your 'going on a carpet/bear hunt'!!

I do believe (my sources from the National Enquirer - so must be true) that there are a fair few Hollywood leading men who set off gaydar alerts....seems Mr Cruise is not alone.

Been to MILs for food - no cooking - horrah!

johnworf · 22/11/2008 21:27

I'm the perfect weight for a 6foot tall woman...unfortunately I'm 5' 2". Don't carry extra weight well as I'm small.

ermintrude I've given Katherine a shiney although neither of us knows what it is (although I suspect it's like a merit or a house point). With you on Tracy Beaker which I also remember. The stuff my (older) children were into are now so out of fashion they are almost back in fashion mrsb will know what I mean i.e. sonic the hedgehog, thomas the tank engine, power rangers (these are still popular in this household) and Pokemon.

You're right that MS is no fun at all but you will lose a bit of weight only for no one to notice as your waist expands

mrsboogie · 22/11/2008 22:53

and the teenage mutant ninja turtles jw

mrsb how could I forget the NMNT??? My boys were mad on them.

Seems to me that toys simply are no good unless a) you can afford them with the aid of a second mortgage b) have in their descriptions some form of gadgetry e.g. MB's, GB's etc c) they'll be old technology within 3 months and your efforts of sourcing will mean nowt. For you ladies with under 10's this probably won't mean much at the mo but it will do in time

DH was at a loose end last night so tv consisted of X Factor (sigh) and I'm a celeb (misnomer of the year). I can't believe a whole nation tunes into this shit on a regular basis.

Have DS#2 coming for lunch again today. Will be taxiing around for most of the afternoon to get him here, go and see DS#1 after he's finished work then take him home. And of course fill him with food in the meantime. Am distributing their advent calendars today in time for the 1st next Sunday. Yes, you read that right. Advent calendars at their age! It never stops ladies just because they have size 11 feet

I asked DS#2 if he'd mind going without the customary Terrys chocolate orange they have been receiving since they were very small. He looked at me with horror. I think I'll still be buying 3 lots of TCO when I'm too old to walk (you could be forgiven into thinking that time has already come)

I think in the grand scheme of things that younger children are so easy to please when it comes to gifts. When they get to 10 that's when the rot sets in and you hear those touching words of 'cheque please' when asked what they'd like for xmas

Enjoy it while it lasts

Tee2072 · 23/11/2008 07:44

Good morning all.

Still feeling pretty down, but determined to go the movies (Quantum of Solace) and out to dinner with the OH today.

JW my MIL buys us an advent calendar every year. And I'm 39 and OH is 34! It never does end!

johnworf · 23/11/2008 08:44

OOh sounds like you have a nice day planned tee Perhaps getting out for a change of scene will make you feel a bit better? Hope it does.

LOL@advent calendar. Glad it's not just me then. I know mine would be very sad if I didn't get them one. Probably why your MiL is still buying one as well

jeanjeannie · 23/11/2008 11:16

Almost snow....! It's so grim and we're holed up in the house - jim-jams still on and putting up Iris's first proper bed....OOOoooo!!!

I don't think you're ever too old for an advent calendar OR a Terry's Choccy Orange

Ah - the world of kid's tv....aka CBeebies...is indeed a wonderful thing. Let me reassure you that the Teletubbies are still alive and kicking - as is Postman Pat. However the world of children appears to have been taken over by a disturbingly fit Icelandic man called 'Sporticus' who lives in Lazytown and has a barbie'esque' pink-haired sidekick

tee sounds like a nice day planned. Any day with Mr Craig in it is nice as far as I'm concerned!

johnworf · 23/11/2008 11:49

JJ I've seen Sporticus on trailers for CBeebies. (I'm sporticus!)

OOh just had a foray into the real world of no babies. I'm off on a Trafford Centre expedition with lunch thrown in with my best friend Jo. Been far too long and lots of chatting to be done plus shopping (she's a professional at shopping too).....it's my xmas day out to myself

Snow been and gone here - the rain washed it away. But it's bloody freezing!

Is Iris excited about her new bed? I thoroughly recommend the bed guards that go on the side.

OOOh err missus...just reading in the online rags that Le Ramsay has been having an affair for the past 7 years! Lordy!

ladymac · 23/11/2008 13:11

Hi all. Can't believe how quickly we filled that last thread up.

Welcome Sarahmum. Congratulations on your pregnancy. I'm expecting baby no5 - don't laugh - and am due on April 14th. Looks like you must be due at a similar time. I had 3 children during my first marriage then met and married my lovely DH (yes, I've also bagged a younger man, he's 33) and had Elizabeth last April when I was 43. DD2, Grace, was 10 at the time and absolutely adores her little sister. We started thinking how nice it would be for Elizabeth to have a little friend and after an early m/c in May, this pregnancy so far as been relatively straightforward (touch wood). Take no notice of lilibet boasting that she's the granny of the group as I too am 45

All my friends had finished having babies too but I've made so many lovely new friends. Where I live in north London older mums are all the rage, though most of the friends I've made are in their 30's. Still, I like to think that the combination of having younger friends, young children and a younger husband rubs off on me and keeps me young too!

Don't get me started on maternity clothes. Though I have found that Gap maternity jeans are excellent. And I got some decent stuff from Blooming Marvellous.
