Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
VJay · 08/01/2009 19:22

Thankyou it does make me feel better. I didn't hear back from the doctor today, so will ring them in the morning.

valz · 09/01/2009 09:46

hi hamish

the heartbeat, its amazing isnt it. ive read that the chances of mis decrease to 5% when heartbeat is heard, do you know if this is true?

Vjay def phone this morning, i find my doc needs reminders every so often. hope you get a scan soon

cornflakegirl · 09/01/2009 10:00

Hamish - that's great!

valz - I don't think that holds for pregnancy after miscarriage - sorry

ready2pop · 09/01/2009 10:02

Congrats on seeing the heartbeat Hamish - That's fab news.

VJay hope the spotting stops soon and that you hear from your GP soon.

I am stressing about two things today. First I don't have any symptoms at all yet and think I am about 5/6 weeks. Seem to remember that I felt awful by this point with my DS. Second, I have lower back ache and what feels like period pains which I also felt with my mc.

VJay · 09/01/2009 12:03

Hi just had a scan and everything looks fine, and the spotting is going again, also the baby measured right for its dates, whereas the last 2 times my babies were too small for their dates, so my mind has been put a little at rest

Fozzie78 · 09/01/2009 12:06

Congratulations vjay and hamish great news. It must be so amazing and emotional seeing a heartbeat xx

mermaidspurse · 09/01/2009 12:28

vjay and hamish such fantastic news, well done both of you

valz · 09/01/2009 12:54

great news vjay at least your mind is at ease now.

SparkyMalarky · 09/01/2009 18:02

Hi all - I feel like the new girl in school again there's so many newbies hello all and congratulations to those that have seen heartbeats, and the rest of you, I hope your stays are as long and as uneventful as possible!

Valz - I think the stats on seeing a heartbeat are the same whether or not you've had a previous mc - after mine I found some really reassuring numbers on the site of the miscarriage association...it does depend how far along you are, but seeing a heartbeat is a good sign! Have a look on this page www.miscarriageassociation.org.uk/ma2006/information/ultrasound.htm (hope that works)

All good with me so far - am 22 weeks today and had my scan this week - looks like a girl thought I was destined to have a house of boys!!

how's everyone else doing? How are those about to pop? You'll be knicker checking for your show soon!!

Hello all - sparky I know what you mean about being new girl at school! Well done re your scans and we will all keep our fingers crossed for you. Heartbeat good. ready every pg different so try not to worry about no symptoms..

I am a bit perturbed - I am 36 weeks (health vsitor had just been to judge meet me and given me the red book - how exciting!! My stomach feels different today - I went for a short walk and found it realy uncomfy, it was like my tum was heavier or something, and my pelvis hurts. then I went to the loo and in the mirror my big 'outie' bellybutton is no longer an outie - it has smoothed over!

What does this mean? Have I just gotten bigger? Might it be moving down? Should I see anyone? Am I panicking unnecessarily? (I know I am in the right place for that...!!)

Anyone?

downbutnotout · 09/01/2009 20:15

Hello, newbies - I am feeling like a new girl at school here too, ironically as I should be next to go (race you, dan!) Try not to worry about spotting, though I know it's impossible.

Have finally finished working and am feeling a bit panicky too, dan. Have been having a bit of a worry about the whole childbirth process despite a (relatively) uncomplicated 10 hour labour last time. Will be practising my deep relaxation this weekend. My EDD is in 16 days !!!

napa · 09/01/2009 21:07

Hi! Everyone, I've been lurking for a couple of weeks now since I got my BFP (on xmas day) but have now reached 6 weeks so thought I'd introduce myself. 1 DD (nearly 5) and had a mmc and erpc in april last year. Had a few problems after but now pregnant again and a little scared but not as scared as I was expecting (yet!)

I have booked a nuchal at fmc (did this for DD and was planning it for last time so a bit of a tradition), though I am a midwife so will be able to have earlier scans at work if I want.

The only thing that worries me is not feeling as sick as I was expecting. I was quite sick with DD from 4+ weeks and the mmc too. Just get nauseous when I walk outside - very strange but think its the cold! and very sore boobs.

Sorry thats a very long intro, but hope to be around for the next 34 weeks! Just good to see others with the same worries as me.

Wheelybug · 09/01/2009 21:46

Hello !

There does seem to be a lot of new people here which is great ! Hello all and glad there have been some positive early scans. Hang in there everyone ! Napa - try not to worry about the lack of sickness. Maybe its a boy. Maybe its just a different pregnancy. The pregnancy I was my sickest with early on was the one I lost so I don't think it necessarily means the end is nigh.

Wow ! Downbutnotout - 16 days to go . Actually I think you're due the day after my dd's 4th birthday (and party.... which means I only have 15 days to prepare...yikes !) and 36 weeks Dan. Mind you, I don't know why I am surprised I am 31 weeks today.

I don't think your tummy shape is anything to worry about Dan - could just be moving down, changing position etc.

I've had a dodgy tummy the last 24 hours which started with some sharp pains which worried me for a bit but it was all part of the dodgy tummy. Don't think its a bug as it wasn't very violent. Just hoping it stays away as am at an active birth preparation workshop tomorrow.

Right off to bed to prepare myself for all sorts of funny positions tomorrow....

Wheelybug · 09/01/2009 21:46

Actually just realised that last sentence sounded really smutty. I am off to sleep in case anyone thought I was up to anything else .

downbutnotout · 10/01/2009 06:12

Hello again newbies - have realised my last post didn't sound as welcoming as I would have liked and as I am currently insomniac (hence posting at shocking hour of the morning), I thought I would add that it's great that you are getting positive news from early scans. I had scans at seven and ten weeks this time and they helped keep me sane. Once the reassurance wears off a bit though and you are feeling paranoid again, this thread is a great support. Like quite a few others here I am a recurrent miscarrier (3 times) and I thought I would never have the baby I am carrying now, so there is hope for everyone!

V disappointed you were not off to rewrite Kama Sutra, Wheelybug

downbutnotout · 10/01/2009 06:24

PS I sympathise on the birthday party front - my dd is 5 in about seven weeks and I have booked the local soft play for this as I know I will be in no condition to repeat the full-on party games extravaganza I laid on at the village hall for her 4th. Luckily though that's what her friends seem to be doing this year, so I don't think she will feel hard done by

scotlass · 10/01/2009 11:12

Hello everyone! Happy New Year to you all.

It's great to see so many new conceived air passengers and lovely news re the reassuring scans. napa I think we've chatted at some point in the past.

As I'm sure the others will testify regular early scans got me through the early stages of this pg and I'm too to admit how many. There seems to be no rhyme nor reason when it comes to symptoms, I too was sicker early on with the 2nd baby I lost and had two episodes of bleeding with this one which luckily didn't come to anything. So the only thing to do is try and keep the hope and get by each week as sane as you can - LOL!!!! This pg is definately different to my DD (my one and only success in 4) but the consultant thinks it may be a boy (very shy at keeping his genitals on show though)

dbno how exciting you're nearly there!! They say you forget labour but maybe the memories come back the nearer you get to the second time? In which case I'll be a basket case.

dan I think the baby's probably just moved down a bit and is getting in a comfy position for the exit out. I'm so envious you've finished work. Make sure you relax loads and enjoy the last few weeks of peace and quiet.

wheely hope your tummy is better. sparky a girl - that's lovely!

I've made it to 25+wks and can't quite believe I'm in the middle of the list now. Feels like an eternity. Everyone keeps asking if I'm getting sorted and I'm not sure what to reply, haven't bought a flippin thing and think this poor baby will have nothing till after it's here. It just feels too scary to start collecting bits. Have got an obvious pg tum now though which kicks away so that's a really really nice feeling.

Anyway got to go and tackle mount everest of ironing - what an exciting life I lead!

VillageMum · 10/01/2009 17:21

VJay and Hamish, great news about your scans!
I was scanned today too at 7 weeks - thought this day would never come! - and am relieved to say that all looks normal. We saw the heartbeat and I'm going to take that as a good sign. Will go back in a fortnight to check that bean is growing normally, but for now that's one bridge crossed... x

VJay · 10/01/2009 17:25

Yey vm, I have just replied to you over on Emmsys xx

Fozzie78 · 10/01/2009 17:52

Ahhh villagemum congrats thats great news

SparkyMalarky · 10/01/2009 18:28

congratulations villagemum - that will help for at least a couple of days! I think the regular scans are so important to keep our overactive minds slightly calmer ;)

and hello napa - and congratulations

scotlass I felt much better when I was carrying with DS - is that how you feel? No sickness, glowing skin, great nails etc....this one is really taking it out of me! Totally understand about not buying anything...I got a set of pink sleepsuits (we knew we were having a boy last time, so have v little white - most things are blue!) and felt very naughty like I was tempting fate...haven't even told that many people at work (even tho I have a big round tum, maybe people just think I piled on the pounds at Xmas!)

I feel bad about the ironing pile waiting for me now....

Dan - sounds like babe could be shifting into position...not long now......or for you dbno ... could be any time (were you early or late last time?)

Wheely - how was your day of 'positions' I had an elcs last time, but starting to aim for a VBAC....not sure what's the best thing to do - was the workshop useful?

OP posts:
olivo · 10/01/2009 18:33

well done on your scans vjay and VM, must be such a relief! you see, still checking up on you!

napa · 10/01/2009 18:35

Thanks for the welcome.

Good news about everyones scans

Feel pretty much ok today, though bored as I have spent the day trying to finish an assignment for a course I'm doing and will be doing the same for all of tomorrow.

Though I'm sure I will manage a lurk or two on MN too!

dan39 · 10/01/2009 19:50

Scantastic!!

I had scans at 7 and 10 too as my mmc was at 8 - 9 and they really helped. From about 13 I pestered the doc for doppler heartbeat, that really helped too.

I think you are all right about the baby moving - the movements are different now so a bit scary and a bit exciting. dbno I will race you! I am either 35 or 36 weeks as have two dates due to being between two Trusts (one for hb and one for hosp) so I swing from being convinced its soon to thinking its ages! My later date is my lmp one, and I am generally v regular, HOWEVER I only bled once after mmc so dunno if that negates the regularity a bit... The other was from an early scan and apparently they are quite reliable - so who knows??

I have been cooking things for the freezer like a domestic goddess!!

tsom · 10/01/2009 20:20

hello all new ladies, glad to hear positive scans abound

dan sounds like you're nesting, ooh won't be long now

wheely I also had a tummy bug which gave me pains last weekend, woke up feeling really sick at 3am with a sore upper stomach, through the day the sickness eased and I had a general achy belly, by teatime no sickness but crampy pelvic pains 5 mins apart . Phoned the obs assessment unit - told to take paracetamol and ring back in one hr if no better. Which it was, phew. Assume it was all gastro and not uterine irritability from bug . dh unimpressed by all this, said I was "obviously not in preterm labour" - like he would know..

dbno I remember the 3rd trimester insomnia from last time, it is like a bad joke

scotlass also have bought nothing for this babe yet expect one babygro in the gap sale. Just starting to think about things needed ie new monitor, changing mat as old ones have disintergrated. Pram (only joking - will not buy any more prams)

sparky a girl - howe many ds do you have? Does this pg feel different?

next scan in 3/52 - will find out if placenta has moved, I thought statistically it would but apparently only 50:50 if you've had previous c/s

dh coming back in now, will finish this post later..
