sussexoldspot · 27/10/2008 19:25

Hmm, that's really interesting joyful. What I can't understand, though, is our lack of BD activities for the last five weeks (God, has it been 5 weeks? ). If we'd been BDing all the way for the last 7 weeks, I would heartily agree with you, but it just doesn't make sense. That's why I'm thinking things might have come to a halt at 5 weeks.

tsom · 27/10/2008 22:13

sussex the scans are only accurate to within 5 days either side of actual date of conception I believe, so with unknown ovulation date and supersperm could this add up?
Really it's too early to tell and the waiting is dreadful I know. Try to look after yourself over the next 2 weeks and plan things to pass the time...keep us posted

good luck for everyone waiting for scans and ladyhelen for cvs

LoobyLou36 · 28/10/2008 07:35

Morning All. Had my nuchal scan last night. Baby was very co-operative they managed to take the reading straight away before it went ballistic and started rolling round and kicking its arms and legs!! It was great to see it again and the sonographer was great, she even printed me off 2 pics for me & dh and also pics for 2 sets of nany & grandads and 1 great nanny (you get what you pay for when forced to go private I guess). Anyway the nuchal reading was low - only 1mm she said that was a good sign but I don't get the true result until me bloods come back on Saturday morning . We've got everything crossed!! Good luck to you today "ses" and "ladyhelen" keep us updated.

daisy5 · 28/10/2008 09:04

sussex - sperm lives for up to a week, maybe you conceived up to a week after you last BD'd - and then as tsom says the scans so early on are often not accurate - out by up to 5 days or more. That may well account for them being younger than you thought. The body behaves so differently after a mc. It must be so hard, but do not give up hope. I gave up hope and was proved wrong.

sussexoldspot · 28/10/2008 11:14

tsom, daisy, joyful and everyone else - thank you so much! Don't let me go back to MC Avengers again! Noooo! Hugs and loads of love to you all.

My SIL is coming round this afternoon with her perfect newborn - just what I need

Looby wonderful, wonderful news!!

TMD · 28/10/2008 11:17

Hello to everybody, I am so pleased to read sucess for most of you but at same time my heart goes out to those who once more have lost. It has only been 19 days since I mc and trying to get things back to norm. decided not to wait but to go ahead and try again as mc was so early on, not like first mmc where we felt couldn't and waited a year.

I'll try to keep in touch every couple of days form now on as have missed chatting, not good locking myself away don't want to lead myself back down the path to destruction.
I'm sure LoobyLou36 you'll get the results you want routing for you, and aquababe just enjoy every min of being pampered while it's on offer!
Catch up soon
lol TMD

Swaliswan · 28/10/2008 12:58

Ooooo, hello again TMD good to see you again.

Sussex, I don't know how you are keeping it together especially with your SIL ocming round this afternoon. Well done.

Looby it's lovely reading about your scan. I'm sure that your blood results will be OK.

I'm having a bad few days with sickness, tiredness and dizziness. I'm not sure how much longer I can take this for and really pray that it ends soon.

sussexoldspot · 28/10/2008 14:00

To tell you the truth, I didn't have much choice - there has been a big family hoo-hah between my DP and her, as they only ever get in touch when they want their PC fixing . Saying 'no' to this afternoon would have given them ammunition, DP says (good grief)[martyr emoticon]

Anyway, have baked some huuuge choc chip muffins - anyone up for one? (apologies to those with ms for that!)

TMD good to hear from you - have you visited them on MC Avengers? They've kept me sane a few times now! Hope you are OK.

roquefortlover · 28/10/2008 15:50

Hi everyone, not read everything thoroughly but congrats to aquababe, joyful and loopy on various successful scans!

sussex i will take a muffin thanks - never say no (even tho' had a Wispa earlier!).

I am knickerchecking like crazy, have convinced myself I have seen a brownish tinge (sorry TMI!) to CM today (am 4+4) so now back in the gloom and doom scenario. Silly really, I've been fretting away about how hard it's going to be having a new job and being pg and now absolutely devastated at the thought it might not happen.

If I lose this one then that's it for us I think - my body is telling me it's not to be . At least I have the job/my other dc!

Sorry to bring things down, just feeling low today...

scotlass · 28/10/2008 17:38

roquefortlover you're not bringing things down, you're just voicing the worry/ concern we all have. Some days are better than others, a hug to you on your low day.

sussex chuck a muffin over here!!

I've had an afternoon of tears - at occupational health then GP. I can't give my medical history now without crying. The GP was lovely though and thinks I may have food poisoning. Fingers crossed 15wks today so hope bean is unaffected by it. Scan on Friday will tell.

dan39 · 28/10/2008 17:46

sussex yes please, just had a twix and I figure will have heartburn whatever I do so bring on the cakes!..

Roquefort sorry you are having a bad day but it's the old roller coaster of these early days. Keep thinking positive about the job, cos its brilliant news EITHER as something to do really well for 6 months, OR to do the whole year as a sort of a consolation prize. Think of it as sod's law, plan as if it won't happen and maybe it will? Works for some people...and see what happens. In the meantime try to be nice to yourself to make time pass.

looby great news on your scan and you are right about the private thing - they are so different!! I might go away and worry quietly about my nuchal measurement, didn't have the scan/test but it says on my 20 week scan it says it's 1.8mm...is that a lot then??? Speaking of raving paranoia, saw my midwife today and she was nice (never see same twice) and she traced out where the baby is (head down, spine to left) etc, and on my sciatic nerve...which was kinda reassuring that there is a reason for my sore buttocks, but I can't do anything about it!

TMD good to see you here again - been thinking about you. feel free to join in with the inane chat, and we will have fingers crossed for sticky baby making!! (or is that a bit wierd ???

SesHashadafab12weekscan · 28/10/2008 18:20

I'm finally back from scan!!!

Have uploaded piccies! Realised I hadn't done 8 week scan one due to laptop problems so have done an 8 week one and a 12 week one.

I think I'm pregnant!!

Sonographer was lovely. Found baby and heartbeat immediately. To begin with baby's face was completely towards us and right arm up waving. Had a good look but she couldn't do measurements and nuchal measurement very easily that way so she asked me to roll my hips around to try and get the baby to move. Didn't work so she sent me off for a wee. That did the job and the baby was then lying on it's back (as in the piccie). Baby measured 57.5mm crown to rump and the nuchal measurement was 1.26mm which she said was the smallest she'd seen this morning. Because of my age though (Will be 36 in February ) this brought my risk to 1 in 1157. Still v pleased with that!!!

It's like a BFP all over again!! I now believe!!! Have even signed up for Boots Parenting Club!!! (I know I am completely brain washed!)

Right - in all my excitement , I must try and catch up on everyone else's day...

SesHashadafab12weekscan · 28/10/2008 18:24

Looby - pleased to see your news too

Roquefort - as dan says, it is a real rollercoaster. Especially in the early days and especially after previous mc. Brown discharge normally really isn't anything to worry about.

Sussex - good for you. I'm impressed with how you managed to deal with your SIL situation. Also hope you're encouraged by the positive stuff that others have shared.

Hello to everyone else and sorry if I've missed anything!

sussexoldspot · 28/10/2008 20:14

Well ses, get you! Fantastic news, am so happy for you!

lobs muffins at roque, dan and scotlassroque hope everything is OK and that your tinge is now whitey-clearish again. Sticky vibes radiating across Sussex to you ...

ladylush · 28/10/2008 21:17

Hi all
Firstly many congrats to wheelybug so pleased for you.
I am 4 weeks pg but have had some weird spotting past 3 days which is decreasing in quantity and was not much to start with. Hoping it is implantation bleeding but given my history, also preparing myself incase it's bad news. I just wish I could have one pg where I didn't bleed Anyway, needless to say, I do knicker check on a frequent basis!

LackaDAISYcal · 28/10/2008 21:57

Hi ladylush .....long time no speak (i used to be daisybump incase you hadn't realised)

Congratulations on your BFP and fingers crossed for you

sussex, try and not be despondent; I have read so many fantastic stories on here to know that weird and wonderful things happen. One of the women on my AN thread was told she had had a mc and went for a D&C....hcg kept rising and when they scanned her again (thinking it had been a molar pregnancy) there was a baby . Try and keep some hope alive in there. And when I had my scan with this one, I was almost seven weeks and no heartbeat and only a teeny tiney foetal pole which the sonographer said was too small to record. He's not so small now I can tell you.

I hope everyone else is well. Great news on the scan Ses and scotslass I hope you are feeling better. I'm sure things will be OK; you need to be really really poorly for diahorrea to have that sort of effect. Lots of rest and fluids.

Now, can't remember what else and as this is turning into a marathon post; I'll post now and then catch up after my not so little bits of news.

Saw my consultant yesterday so have been cleared for VBAC with intermittent hand held monitoring. No pressure to book in for a post dates CSectio, no post dates appointment to discuss induction (she won;t induce me due to 2 previous CS). If I go over my dates I've to let her know when I've had enough and want the baby out, and they want me in for monitoring if I go over beyond 13 days.

Ses, my actual date is 6th November, but it's gotta happen sooner ; I can't imagine these on again off again contractions going on for that long. Baby's head was 4/5th engaged according to the MW yesterday, then in the afternoon I picked DD up to change her nappy, and as I went to sit on the sofa I felt my pubis symphisis joint pulling out and cracking back in again (like someone pulling on your finger to make your knuckle crack). when I stood up, SPD pain has gine and I can't walk for a head being wedged. Can't get behind the wheel of the car either.

woken with pains four times last night and have had BHs going on all day (usually they start in the evening). It's all going on, but not regularly or to any great effect though.

Wheelybug · 29/10/2008 10:26

Hello all

Just a quick pop in as at my parents for a few days but just to say hello ladylush - long time no speak. I am so pleased for your BFP and hope the spotting is implantation and you're here to stay. Am really pleased to 'see'you

Hope things get moving soon Daisy - sounds promising (or frustrating ??)

Great news on the scan Ses !

Hello to everyone else - back at the end of the week to catch up properly.

roquefortlover · 29/10/2008 11:29

Hi all and thanks for positive vibes! dan, you are so right about the job thing - I must try and keep it all in proportion!

Ses, congrats on your exciting and excellent scan. Can't imagine getting to 8 weeks atm let alone 12 so i can appreciate your excitement...

sussex, how are you feeling today? I have still got brown CM but also a v strong positive on an HPT (yes, I know I said I wouldn't do any more....). I guess I feel a bit more fatalistic about it today - what will be will be and all that. Also, it occures to me that spotting gives me a good reason to request an early scan at EPU if I make it that far .

ladylush you sound in a similar situation to me re. spotting so let's hope it's a sticky one for both of us!

dan39 · 29/10/2008 13:57

Lacks how exciting!!! Hope something good happens soon. Sounds a bit gory with all the bone moving malarky...mind you that's me realising I am 26 weeks and might have to read ahead about what labour actually involves...

ses congrats on your lovely posisitve scan!! Will check out your pics. Its such a lovely feeling isn't it, to think you might be having a baby! I went out at lunchtime today and bought two cardigans for a 0-3 month old!

ladylush fingers crossed for you.

ladyhelen2 · 29/10/2008 18:52

Daisy keeping fingers crossed things happen soon. You must be dying to meet your new little one now.

Ses and looby congrats on successful scans. Hoping you can relax a bit now.

Just to let you all know that I had my CVS yesterday. It went well and now where near as bad as I had thought. The hospital phoned through the results this afternoon and I am relieved to be able to say all is ok. We have the all clear on Downs. At least I can have a good night sleep now. Not much was had last night I can tell you.

So EDD of 3rd May by scan which makes me 13+3 today. I think I can now begin to believe that this may happen for us now. I may even have to buy some maternity trousers this weekend!

daisy5 · 29/10/2008 19:07

ladyhelen - I'm desperately trying to find out all I can about CVS as just went to my midwife appointment to find out absolutely no antenatal scanning is offered at this or any nearby hospitals until 16 weeks, which in my mind is far too late. Not even a blood test! I said that considering I will be 42 when/if I give birth then there is a higher chance of chromosomal problems but I was told that I was entirely responsible for any testing I wanted done earlier than 16 weeks. We only moved three months ago and didn't realise any of this.

Nuchal fold combined with blood at a local private clinic is £175 and apparently combined with CVS at a London clinic is £450. These are huge sums of money for something that was standard procedure down south.

I am really getting quite stressed out about this. As my partner is almost 48 and I am almost 42 and he is working so hard to support a family he didn't expect later in life, I am not sure we could cope with a child with serious problems, but I personally could never do anything after 14 weeks.

SesHashadafab12weekscan · 29/10/2008 19:44

Evening!

ladyhelen2 - so pleased to hear your reassuring results. I'm with you on finally believing it may happen. I had a friend give me a carrier bag full of maternity clothes today so will have a sort through!

daisy5 - it is ridiculous how different things are in different geographies! I really feel for you. Do you think you will maybe consider the nuchal fold with blood locally?

ladylush · 29/10/2008 20:54

Hi daisy - yes I do remember you. Not long to go now. Very exciting

Wheely - glad you are half way through and things going well [smile[

Roquefort - yes I do hope we have sticky ones

LoobyLou36 · 29/10/2008 21:08

ladyhelen2 great news about your cvs. I am now waiting for my nuchal+blood results which we find out on Saturday. I'm due the 3rd of May too!

LoobyLou36 · 29/10/2008 21:13

daisy5 I agree - it's not fair that some nhs trusts offer nuchal and some don't - my cousins in oxfordshire had it done on the nhs, as did my sister-in-law who lives in London. We had a 120mile round trip to Cardiff and a bill of £180. They were very good though having said that and I do feel more relieved tha waiting for the less accurate 16wk blood test, although we don't get our results till Saturday so we've got everything crossed!
