wow rosebury that is a fab age gap!! I thought mine was big at 21 years. No shortage of babysitters there eh? Yup I'm due in a bit over 2 weeks. I can't wait - it seems ages away still. Just want him out safely!

Re contraception - one of my work colleagues was telling me that she went for a cervical smear recently - she's 52 or 53 and the doctor was asking her what contraception she was using and warning her that she could still get pregnant. And they'd have you believe that it#s a near impossibility after you hit your late thirties...

mrsboogie · 30/08/2008 22:35

oh and good news about the oxygen jw - nearly on the home straight now - hope your staying in weekend goes smoothly - it's been a long time coming!!

johnworf · 31/08/2008 08:12

Thanks mrsboogie. Slight fly in the ointment it seems....talking to the community special care nurse last night and it seems that depending on what opthamologist says on Tuesday review, we may have to stay in for her next 2 weekly reviews i.e. another 2 weeks. Will wait and see what the man himself has to say...it'll be a yay or a nay so here goes Tuesday.

TBH I won't believe a word of the 'H' word until I step foot over our front door with her in my arms (and even then I'll be pinching myself)

Still on the positive side, the man is cracking on with her bedroom tomorrow after I ram raided the Mamas and Papas shop Everything is now Millie and Boris and I must say, it's very very cute. Even got the cot bed from Ebay in anticipation. A bit of retail therapy can go a long way.....

FloriaTosca · 31/08/2008 09:08

JW I've got my fingers crossed for Tuesday already...such good news about the oxygen, she seems to be shrugging off whatever is thrown at her without a thought...she has such a strong will,(heaven help you when she's a teenager!!)...the nursery sounds just gorgeous

johnworf · 31/08/2008 13:58

lol. Thanks FloriaTosca Very kind words indeed. She is a brave little soul without doubt. I've asked DH to come with me on Tuesday as I don't feel brave enough to face the eye man on my own (not this time anyway, although usually I do). I know that if it's bad news I'll fall to pieces

Unit closed today to new intakes as it's been busy over the weekend so Katherine has a couple of neighbours in with her now. They're both peaceful souls (unlike next door) so not too bad really. It's warm in there at the mo so I've put a short sleeved/leg romper on her. Absolutely buries her and the short legs are more like capri pants but hey ho. I love her little socks though...she needs fatter feet and toes so the tiny baby socks need an elastic to hold them up!

jeanjeannie · 31/08/2008 22:05

HI Honeys....I'm back...did yer miss me??! Been in Nottingham to see the parents....all very nice and the girls were spoilt rotten.

Well, you've all been busy.... I'm trying to take in all what's happened and see who's popped in for a chat. Like attempting to catch up on Corrie when you've missed a few episodes.

Firstly johnworf evening m'duck *doffs cap and pulls up chair Sooo pleased the op went well and Princess Katherine is back in Bury. LOL at ram raiding Mamas & Papas.....when needs must and all that. She'll be (whispers) home soon enough - you've covered the worst of it all now....it's just like being preggie ...the waiting for the last bit is the hardest. She simple Must have groovy glasses though......must have!!

pwcbird lovely to hear from you in glorious Croydon. Ahh, DP is off there tomorrow - I'm taking the advice you gave about getting him to blend in with the locals so I'm washing his England footie shirt and ironing on his tatoos as I type LOVE the pics of Josephs b'day - that one with his little fun-pointy hat on - bless! He's got great hair!

Mrsboogie sorry to hear about your dramatic time - not what you need at the count-down to the big day. Oh the hip thing is nasty. I had SPD with Iris - damm lucky not to get it second time round. I really feel your pain

redrobin HELLO! Gawd, well I've got 2 under 2 and I'm (almost) 43...and that's hard work...so hats off to you m'dear!!! I reckon (cos I'm qualified y'know ) that you'll cope admirably. Pleased you found our thread - do join in - we like new people!

fizzylady I'm in Bucks - High Wycombe. Where abouts are you? Give me a shout as i've not 'been there and done that' I've only just started 'doing it all'!!

Kaz Hi - sorry you've been rough. Sounds like you've got loads on though - hardly surprising and with a tiny one as well - make sure you give yourself a break. Just got your Facebook message....I shall call you. I'm at home all week - be fab if we get chance to hook up

Evening hedgepig Hope Ben had a nice birthday and you're bearing up.

Off to bed now am knackered. Verity is having a growth spurt and up every 2 hours for a feed My norks are huge again and my nips have gone numb Night night x

hi all

welcome back jeanjeanie glad you had a good weekend

I'm getting so fed up waiting now - the time is really dragging - I wouldn't mind so much if I could get out and about but I can't really leave the house as walking is so painful

Like jw I imagine, the next two weeks feel like an eternity stretching out ahead of me...

sigh.

We have a new bed arriving on Friday - Ours is a horrible cheap nasty Argos thing that my OH bought when he moved into his first shared house. It's really low to the ground and a nightmare for me to get out of at the moment - so I faffed around for months and months and finally found a nice high one - due to be delivered less than a week before my due date!!

rosebury · 01/09/2008 17:27

hello mrsboogie i do have sympathy with you as we are both in the same boat although I can walk but not very far and i am surrounded by hills which are exhousting to walk up i do intend to enjoy my last few weeks probably watching old dvds.

sorry have to go now as ds has his arm stuck up a cardboard tube.

hedgepig · 01/09/2008 19:09

evening JJ lovely to see you back. Glad you had a nice time in Nottingham.
MrsB & Rosebury, my hips are playing up too. Have either of you tried a maternity belt? I have one from mothercare but it doesn't seem to help but it doesn't seem to have much strong support in it.
Rosebury I am LOL about the cardboard tube. Ben took the legs if his play tale whihc are tube and put them on his arms to be a robot. It was very funny until we tried to get them off him, ekkk they were stuck!! Luckily DS had a clear head as I was doing a mega mommy flap and poured veg oil in the the tubes which loosened them. So I hope you got DS out OK.
JW - good luck tomorrow (I have everything crossed) she will be home soon I am sure of it.

jeanjeannie · 01/09/2008 20:58

Evening all.
Hahahaha rosebury hope the cardboard tube and arm are now free of each other

mrsboogie a new bed- how fab. We did that before Iris arrived - BLISS! And it still is.

Greetings hedgepig - I see this hip thing is catching! Best thing I found was to take it easy and not to open your legs too wide No, seriously, that's what I was told by the physio! So - I can recommend rosebury's idea of watching old DVDs....definately take to the sofa

No sign of johnworf today Hope everything is ok m'duck. And yes - I too will cross everything tomorrow for you all.

Ah - Verity wants more food...ZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzz
no sleep for me tonight I suspect!

hedgepig · 01/09/2008 21:10

JJ where is she putting it all she must be about 2 stone by now. happy feeding.

MrsB good news on the bed, It would be a good idea to get something to protect the mattress in case your waters go in the night. I found some bed pads in boots. I remember when we splashed out on a good bed a few years ago it was fantastic, it makes such a different to your sleep. Did you get a amby thing for the LO in the end??

jeanjeannie · 01/09/2008 21:23

hedgepig you're not far off! She's now into 6-9 months clothing She's not fat - just really long!

Going to start to give her bottle practise soon as I've a whole day out in october - my spa day that DP bought me - bless. I may have to discreetly take the breast pump though, as I fear a whole day without a feed may result in an embarrasing explosion

Yes - matress protection - good thinking HPig

Hi girls,

I'm here. Nothing of note to report. I've signed all the forms today for home oxygen so that's all in place. Gone through the rooming in process which hopefully, will be over the coming weekend.

Just have to get tomorrow out of the way with the eye exam.......dreading it TBH. All the nurses were rooting for us tonight so fingers crossed.

It's been a mad day here what with the decorators and workmen, which is why I've not been around. Been chivvying them along so all will be done for weekend.

So much to do for the princess' homecoming! Just the red carpet to order now

Thanks for all your good wishes. Will let you know.....

hedgepig · 01/09/2008 21:38

I know it must be wearing to have such an enthusiastic feeder but at least she is keen. I used to have to force Ben to feed (except at night of course), it was a pretty long 4 months until I gave up. My aim with this one is to a least master the art of feeding lying down so I don't have to get out of bed in the night.

hedgepig · 01/09/2008 21:41

X-post JW - good luck for tomorrow, I'm sure I will see the celebratory fireworks form here when you get the good news.

jeanjeannie · 01/09/2008 21:50

Ah - the red carpet - mustn't forget that. AND buntings....buntings are good Then of course it'll be the "Johnworf introduces Princess Katherine, in her beautiful new nursery"...HELLO special

Good luck chaps - keep us posted x

hedgepig my norks are sooo huge I can actually sling them to one side to feed - oh they are clearly going to end up as spaniel's ears

OP posts:
hedgepig · 01/09/2008 21:56

lets not talk about spaniel ear Norks as I have mentioned before mine are a J pre-milk coming in. I always felt breast feeding was a bit like maneuvering a super tanker into a very small bay maybe that was why Ben didn't feed well cos he saw the huge blob coming towards him . Anyway I am looking forward to trying Kaz's hint from ages ago of using a scarf for support.

mrsboogie · 01/09/2008 22:26

hedgepig very good advice re the mattress protection - you know it never even occurred to me because I am 1000% convinced that artificial means will have to be brought to bear in order to get him out.

I haven't tried the support belt - last time I tried to walk outdoors I did think that one would be a good idea as the hip/ligaments tend to loosen up when I walk while the tummy gets more painful.

jw I will have everything crossed for you tomorrow - so close now

oh jw grateful for some advice re blood sugars. It has been going really really well over the first ten or so days - blood sugar between 4 and 6 etc. However today, even though I am eating exactly the same stuff, it is going up and down like mad - from 3.9 which it has never been up to 9.7 after I had some soup. I expected that there would be some randomly odd results but this doesn't seem right. Should I be worried and phone the diabetic nurse or should I persist for another day or two to see if it settles? I am eating almost no carbs at this point.

mrsboogie · 01/09/2008 22:33

I mean 100% convinced.

hedgepig I haven't got the Amby yet as I can't bring myself to buy anything but OH 's lovely mum is insisting on doing a sort of unofficial babylist thing and will gather gifts of monies form his relatives to buy all the furniture/buggy etc including the Amby. How nice is that?

Also means I don't have to have it in the house before as this would freak me out.

rosebury · 02/09/2008 06:17

Morning ladies I have been up for a couple of hours wide awake I blame nmother nature again.

Sorry if I confused people over walking i do not have the hip problem or anything my difficulty is purely size I am massive correction my bump is massive. hedgepig when are you due?

JJ how old is your not so little baby now?

Jw good luck for today I cannoot remember when K was actually due would she be full term yet.

Ds was freed from the cardboard after a few minutes without too much stress.

johnworf · 02/09/2008 07:38

Hi Ladies,

mrsboogie well done on keeping the BS's pretty much on the straight and narrow. If you were eating tinned soup e.g. Heinz, look on the label. Often have lots of sugar added (esp things like cream of tomato etc). If not, then it's just your placenta hoovering up all your insulin and there's nowt you can do but sit tight - although I'd mention this to your diabetic MW asap.

Rosebury Katherine is officially due on the 14th September But due to a very long story she's now 3 months old now

New pic for today of the girl herself

hedgepig · 02/09/2008 10:55

Hi Rosebury I'm due 4th Oct, when are you due (sorry I can't be bothered to trawl through the Oct thread to find the list).
Lovely picture JW she is so big, hope the hosp went OK.

mrsboogie · 02/09/2008 11:47

jw she looks twice the size she was!

jeanjeannie · 02/09/2008 12:57

Afternoon all. Well, Verity is official a little porker - got her weighed and she's skipped over the middle line Breast milk is fattening - it's official

johnworf Awwww - Katherine looks so much bigger and, I see is now displaying a fine fashion sense. I'm very partial to stripes on a young lady. BTW - your hubby looks sooo young! I forget - are you a craddle snatcher like my good-self? Hope it's all good news this afternoon at the hospital xx

Talking of which I was reading about Denise van Outen dating the young man who won the 'Joseph' competition and my first thought was 'slapper' - 'going off with a younger man' Hahaha then I realised there was the same difference between them and my DP - whoops - he who casts the first stone and all that

rosebury my DD2 - Verity is now 13 weeks and is also 13 pounds! DD1 is 21 months - i'm official feeling deranged after very little sleep for 4 nights on the trot. I have brain fog - where the mouth and brain fail to engage and what comes out is utter rubbish

mrsboogie - that's so nice of your DPs folks...bless. Poor you and your sugar battle These LOs are such parasites - like jw said the placenta literally hoovers up everything going!

I think I'm seeing kaz1967 this week all being well as she's visiting her folks who are near me. Oooo a real life 40+ MNetter....I'll ring her...and then get cake in

Hedgepig we are due at the same time 5th or 3rd for me depending on who you go with baby will arrive when iit chooses nothing to do with what anyone says.

Toy boys are fab I adore younger men such firm bodies calm me down girls not sure that they would fancy me at the moment my bump scares anyone that sees it. I love my dh who is younger than me but not firm bodies I cant have everyting.

Jw i know your story helicopter and all.
