Hi ladies,

Ok update: she was extubated this morning to CPAP then on to nasal canula and she's been fed. She's back to Bury this afternoon huge smiles all round

To celebrate I've been out and bought a lemon medeira cake (for myself natch) and I've eaten two bars of Terry's choccy orange in the car on the way home - it WAS my lunch dunchano.

Glad to see you back on the thread kaz1967 and that Kez is more than thriving She's be outgrowing everything soon to be sure Hope you're feeling back to your old self very soon.

Welcome to our little old thread Fizzylady. I secretly would like another but only if guaranteed 100% that nothing went wrong (unlike this time). Also I'd have to get myself another DH as this one would rather cut his own head off! Sadly I'm nowhere near Bucks as I'm oop north but I'm sure some of the ladies on here are local

mrsboogie · 28/08/2008 17:11

hi kaz was wondering where you were - glad Kez is thriving - you'll have to bung a new pic up when you get a chance Sorry to hear you've been a bit under the weather but if you can't have a bit of a wobble with all you have on when can you?

jw great news - at least K got over the op quickly and is back where she was you can start looking forward again. She must be a tough customer and no mistake

Have been for my weekly antenatal/diabetes clinic today. all OK - they were most impressed with my blood sugar levels and I have lost 2lbs since last week!! But they scanned me and said baby is now between 7 and 8 lbs and his tummy measurements are gone out of normal range he's getting fatter and I'm getting thinner!

still, because I am managing to control the diabetes without insulin they are going to leave me until 40 weeks.

had to walk to the hospital as its easier and we have no car - was in agony with ligament pain - feels like I rode bareback on a horse for 2 weeks

hedgepig · 28/08/2008 20:33

evening. Hi KAZ my dear, sorry to hear you are feeling down, big hug from here, I hope you are getting the support you need from the crisis team. If you have packed in Bristol does this mean you are getting closer to your own place in Lincs?
JW I'm glad super K is recovering it is awful when you LO has to go through something horrid but you know it has to be done. Fingers crossed this will sort the ROP out and that is the end of it.
Hi Fizzylady and all the other newbies, nowhere near bucks I'm afraid (actually a bit vague where bucks is I rather embarrassed to say). My mom can never say anything about having a child in my 40's since she had my younger brother at 40. Although she did say "how will you cope" when I told her we were expecting number 2.
It is Bens 5th B Day today he is so big now. We have had a lovely day, but I am a bit stuffed with Birthday cake I'm afraid. Now I have to work out where to put his new toys, I think a clear out is well overdue.

johnworf · 28/08/2008 21:11

mrsboogie glad all is well with baby and yourself too Well done on keeping your BS's below the levels. I lost weight when I was pregnant and I'm back to my low GI diet now as I'm still to go to diabetes clinic Although I am having some medicinal cake tonight - katherine cake

hedgepig where have you been dear? Seems ages since you were here. Hippy birdy to Ben. Isn't it lovely when you get new stuff on your birthday - exciting stuff not the boring stuff we get as adults.

Katherine is back in her old spot in the unit at Bury and she's back on CPAP hoping to have a lovely quiet night, a rest, and get back to normal tomorrow. That's the plan. I could have hugged Judy, her nurse, when I got there tonight. She said to me 'so you're home then'? And I said 'yes, honey, I'm home'.

Phew.

Lets see what tomorrow brings....

redrobin · 28/08/2008 21:15

hello all! have just discovered that i am preg for the third time, and will be 41 at the birth. am soooooo scared! i've got 2 dds already ( 3 and 20 months) and i am really worried whether i'll be fit enough to cope. am starting a fitness regime right now!

this thread is going to be a lifesaver, i can tell!

hedgepig · 28/08/2008 21:32

Hi redrobin running around after 2 little ones already I can't imagine you need any more exercise
Hi JW I have been about but I'm so tired and by brain has turned to jelly so I can't think of very much interesting to say at the moment. Last week at work next week so I can have some lies in and recoup my energy before the big push! (pls excuse the pun). I'm so please K is back at Bury and closer to you, when will they know if the laser surgery has worked?

FloriaTosca · 28/08/2008 21:54

JW So relieved that Katherine has got over the ordeal and is back in Bury. Enjoy your celebration cake it must have been terrible watching her go through it. Now you can start counting down the days 'till "H" day.
Kaz great to see you back, sorry you are so down but glad you have the support you need and hope you regain your equillibrium soon.
MrsBoogie Well done on getting on top of the GD so quickly..good that your team will let you go to term (mine kept talking about induction at 37 wks long before I got high blood pressure)
Hello to all the newbies & congratulations redrobin
I'm glad I'm not the only one who would like to do this all again...despite the gd and high blood pressure and the fact that I'm now 44 and it took 3yrs and 6 m/c to get our darling Alex... but like your Dh JW, mine would rather cut off his own...er...head

Kaz1967 · 28/08/2008 23:04

Thanks everyone

johnworf she is already growing out of everything and in 0-3 month clothes now taking lots of things home to a friend who had a baby girl a few weeks ago.

jeanjeannie going back to Wycombe for a nearly a week on Monday sending you a message on facebook with contact details if you want to meet up

johnworf · 29/08/2008 07:37

FloriaTosca my DH's original quote included the word for ....well, his special friend So like you, there's pretty much no chance - however, this time has put me off in a lot of respects.

Katherine will be reviewed again on Tuesday by the Opthamologist but they're pretty sure it's worked as they've managed to catch it early and zap most, if not all, the abnormal cells. Here's hoping anyway. I've been told off by DH for looking up nice frames for her specs....well wouldn't most of us do the same?

hedgepig · 29/08/2008 08:35

JW it is most important that a young girl has cute frames, does DH think a pair of old style NHS one will do??? (do they still do those plastic NHS ones anyway). Glad it all seems to have gone well, I positive thoughts for next Tuesday.
I'm pretty sure this baby will be my last one, physically I have found this pg much tougher that my previous one when I was 37. Anyway it took me 5 year to persuade DH to have another, so working on that time frame I would be 47 for the next.

mrsboogie · 29/08/2008 11:31

jw cool frames will be a must! They will be part of madame's "look" after all

/ponders career as the Gok Wan of the babyworld

when we were sat in the hospital yesterday two new mums came in with their babies - one of each flavour(presumably for their "after" diabetes test)The OH (who really wanted a boy this time) spent most of the time staring at the little girl and asked me if I would have another if this one went ok.

johnworf · 29/08/2008 14:14

mrsboogie and your reply went something like @!8&$ OFF!!!!!?

hedgepig · 29/08/2008 15:23

that polite hey

mrsboogie · 29/08/2008 17:11

haha - that would have been my reaction if I hadn't been so busy concentrating on the terrible groin ache caused by carrying around an 8lb 37 weeker and hobbling about like an old lady with only one functioning hip!!

just had fretful day. they have been v clear at the hospital that I should take changes in his activity seriously. After a very very active day yesterday - he was very quiet today until four o'clock . I was just about to ring the hospital when he seemed to wake up and get busy. Now he seems to be trying to burrow his way out with his shoulders
sometimes I wish they would deliver me at 38 or 39 weeks just to get this worrying over!. Although he is still not in the engaged position , so he's in no rush to get out.

Kaz1967 · 29/08/2008 17:39

Poor Kez had her first jabs today and is really out of sorts is asleep after having calpol and a feed but keeps crying in her sleep

hedgepig · 29/08/2008 17:52

poor petal, I'm sure she will be right as rain tomorrow.
Mys B do not be worried about him not being engaged apparently for a 2nd child they often don't engage until labor.

Kaz1967 · 29/08/2008 18:49

new pics of Kezzy on profile

johnworf · 29/08/2008 21:10

yeah jabs Katherine is due her second round this week although dunno when as she's still getting over her surgery. Hope Kez is back to her old self tomorrow

hedgepig that's right re engaging. I didn't engage until labour on my second and third....no idea why. Mebbe it's all baggy down there after the first

Cutie pics kaz1967

mrsboogie · 30/08/2008 00:00

I never knew that re not engaging til the end - I am such a novice

hope both little girls get over their jabs nice and quick

johnworf · 30/08/2008 06:52

mrsboogie not sure now when Katherine will have her second round ones. I think they're waiting to see her get over her ordeal and for her eyes to get better and the swelling to subside. I'm hoping at her review that everything will be ok but keep having nightmares that he'll say the operation didn't work and she has to have it all over again Lady who did the op told us she thought it had been succesful and shouldn't need doing again - but you know how us mums worry don't you?

We're in the middle of the decorators and the work men here. I'm trying to chivvy them along as best I can. I want all the work finishing before Katherine comes home and we're now on official countdown of 9 days to go to HOME time!

Kaz1967 · 30/08/2008 10:11

Well Kezzy is a lot better this morning still warm but she is far less grizzly and I have even had some smiles

Nine days is a long time in the baby world K will be ready before and good as new before then I am sure

And yes 2nd and subsequent babies often do not engage because your tummy is a little more baggy after the first.

johnworf · 30/08/2008 15:38

Yeah kaz1967 9 days is a very long time in the baby world but we're hoping that nothing happens in the meantime to spoil her homecoming. She won't be allowed out before her due date as she's still on oxygen but...and here's some good news, she's now at 0.04L oxygen on the low flow nasal canulas so doctors are not sure if she'll be needing oxygen by the time her due date rocks round.

But as things stand, I should be rooming in over next weekend......

YAY!

johnworf · 30/08/2008 15:39

...oops sorry, glad that kez is feeling much more chipper today and the nasty jabs are just a distant memory.

I've been told/warned that it's the second ones that can make them feel awful (more so than the first) but I'm not too sure if this is right....

hedgepig · 30/08/2008 18:45

KAZ I'm please Kezzy is feeling a bit more perky, unfortunately she is too little to understand it is for her only god at the moment. I had to kaugh at Ben today (I am a cruel mummy ) he was madly running around after his lunch and he got his 1st stitch, so I could explain why mummy always says to not run around just after eating, went in one ear and out the other.
JW I have a good feeling that Katherine's op has gone well and all will be OK. Great news about the oxygen, sound like diddly squat to me
Had a nice day my mom and dad are over for Bens party tomorrow so it is lovely to have an extra set of hands. The heat really got to me today and I had to go and have a nap this afternoon, it's such a hard life .

rosebury · 30/08/2008 22:02

Evening ladies and welcome to all the newbies my children are 28 27 25 22 and 5yrs no6 is due in five wks time i got pregnant just after my 46th birthday and all is well so if I can do it then there is no reason why you cant have a go if you want to at our age there is no time for doubts.

How mad is this i have made an appt with the family planning lady for next week to discuss what to do after I have this baby i cannot believe that I will be almost 47 and have to use contraception it will be interesting what she has to say.

Jw sorry to read that you have had a rough time with k lately and hope that all will soon be well she certainly has caused you a few dramatic moments and sleepless nights since her arriva. oh and I had a steak and kidney pudding with chips mushy peas and gravy last weekend.

Kaz i hope that you will be feeling better soon you have also been through a lot lately please give yourself a chance to heal.

Thinking of you mrsboogie as we are both very heavily pg.
