Hello all - well, this is our third message board..so it's a popular topic.

If you're a fab forty something then please come and say Hi!

The thread lives in pregnancy as that's where it started....but it's certainly no longer confined to just being about pregnancy. It's for anyone whose a gorgeous 40 something. So get a cuppa, bring some biscuits - or cake - and have a chat x

Floria the cake was indeed from Slattery's. It's just up the road from us....and it was yummy delish but highly calorific

johnworf · 27/10/2008 12:58

mrsb you're so right. There are no guarantees and I haven't got to 42 without my fair share of breakups that had nothing to do with age differences. Age isn't a barrier nor a disadvantage (def NOT a disadvantage I'd say!)

LOL@younger brother. Wow, if he's younger than your OH then he must be really young...early twenties? Crikey, that's about my olders kids age........that seems so wrong when I put it like that

mrsboogie · 27/10/2008 13:06

speaking of cake and yummy things - | have my post natal GTT tomorrow - eeeek! I am worried that they will tell me I am still diabetic..fingers crossed

jeanjeannie · 27/10/2008 13:38

Afternoon all. Apparently we're in for SNOW!

floria hello dear - lovely to see you as always. Awww.....cheers for sharing the poem and bless young Alex and his unpredictable sleeping patterns.......I reckon Verity is going to be very similar.

mrsb yep - age, schmage.....good lord there are loads more things that break up a relationship. My DP (7 yrs younger) is an old head. I think he was born mid-to-late 30s Whereas I'm still intrinsically about 19....gosh - 19 - that was a FINE age to be.

CAKE....CAKE! There is an appalling lack of CAKE in this house. I must rectify matters. I keep harping on about the coffee and walnut urge....I guess I should get off my a*se and make some.

DP made some playdough last night ....I'm about to unleash it on Iris....wish me (and the nice rug) luck!

PS. portofino..............any news? x

johnworf · 27/10/2008 17:47

OOh that brings back memories; make your own playdoh. Yep, remember it well and if we were feeling flush (this was back in the first recession of 91/92 and I wasn't working), we used to make crazy colours with food colouring Ahhhhh.

No cake here but I feel my resolve is breaking and I NEED some. Christ, life is dull sans cake

jj 19? n-n-n-n-n-nineteen? That old huh? I'd like to be eternally 25 as that was a nice age for me but in my head I'm a juvenile 16 I think

SNOW??? You mean summer has come to Manchester already?

jeanjeannie · 27/10/2008 20:57

Ah - the last recession jw I was bucking the trend and living it large in West London....not a sign of playdough or primary coloured toys anywhere!

OOooo - I'm eating Ferrero Rocher....a WHOLE box Today I just fancied one of those bars of choccy you got years ago - a Milk Tray bar. MMmmm....anyone remember them? I liked the lime barrel.

Half term and most of our playgroups are closed - darn, that means we'll have to make our own entertainment this week......making snowmen by the looks of things

mrsboogie · 27/10/2008 22:31

no, maybe not...

mrsboogie · 27/10/2008 22:33

ehm...Forty, Fabulous and Fertile?

Tee2072 · 28/10/2008 05:14

Forty, Flirty, Fabulous and Fertile?

johnworf · 28/10/2008 07:52

mrsb I'm with you on your first suggestion as that is most apt.

I had a trawl through the over 40 TTC thread on Sunday and it makes you think how lucky we are on this thread. Seems there's a lot out there finding it hard to conceive...and I saw msdynamo on there too If I remember rightly, that's how this thread began

JJ the lime barrel was filled with some kind of green noxious chemical only found in mad professors labs (in horror films). I'm surprised it didn't froth it's way out of that barrel. Ferrero rocher huh? Is the ambassador having a party? They're up there with Pringles for addict-ability. My DS#2 tells me they put some kind of chemical in Pringles (and MacDonalds buns) to make you want to eat more of them. He also told me the reason they put a gerkin on burgers in MacD's is that the buns are so full of sugar that without the said gerkin, they'd be classed as a cake. CAKE!!!!

Ok, first of our hospital visits today. It's eye's this afternoon. I've noticed that although K smiles she also goes cross eyed a lot. Will mention this as they're on the look out for strabismus - she's more susceptible to it apparently.

Tomorrow it's bronchiolitis jab. Poor K. We also have Peter off on half term so tomorrow we're packing him off on an educational cubs outting to the science museum. He is really not keen and would rather watch re-runs of Star Wars and play on his Xbox. Aren't I mean making him go and learn something when he could be festering away in front of a screen?

johnworf · 28/10/2008 07:53

Tee may I ask why are you posting at 5.14am? You're worse than me!!!

jeanjeannie · 28/10/2008 08:18

Morning...*peels lids from eyes, another shocker of a night

Thank you all for your lovely suggestions!mrsb a true enough title indeed.
JW I keep singning that blinkin song now...Grrrr.

Tee is already pregnant JJ and confirmed. It's portofino that's waiting on a result (I think).

Get more coffee inside you and have stern words with your youngest child

Glad you have Cher inside your head...mwahahahaha

Will let you know how it goes this afternoon and whether she's gonna be a speccy 4 eyes like her old mum

jeanjeannie · 28/10/2008 09:07

Ah - yes....it's the lack of sleep wot does it!

Sorry tee Yes, definately up the duff and sporting a new hairdo!

Goodness it's been all go on here. I'd like to tell you all the exciting things I've been doing instead of being on Mumsnet but it's just been the usual - family life. Oh, we did go and see the latest Coen brothers film on sat night. Well, I say sat night but in reality it was the 6.45 show as I would have fallen asleep during the later one. We even popped into our local on the way there where I had a pint of shandy and we shared a plate of antipasto. Very yummy.

The big excitement of sunday was rearranging the kitchen cupboards. Yes girls, try not to be too jealous DH helped me and I have to say he rather enjoyed tidying the overflowing tupperware drawer. Next week we're going to tackle our clothes mountain and as we only wear half of what's in the wardrobes we've decided to get rid of the offending 50%. We are ebay virgins but hope that we might be able to work out how to do it in order to earn a few extra pennies before xmas. Although I do love putting it all in a black bag and taking it to the charity shop.

We're hoping to do a job a weekend. We bought this house when I was 6 months pregnant so there was a lot of shoving things in to cupboards going on in order to make it habitable. Although it looks okay on the surface there is underlying chaos that needs to be sorted before no5 comes along.

Glad to see that most of you were like me when finally meeting Mr Right. DH and I were friends for quite a while before I got bored with him being polite. So I got drunk, phoned him up and told him I was naked and waiting for him to come and me That seemed to do the trick and here we are 4 and a half years later having bought a house, got married and with our second baby on the way!

mrsboogie · 29/10/2008 11:02

mornin 'all

It's ffffrreeeezzing here too. No snow though.

DM website: That niece of Andrew Sachs looks like Rosie Webster offa Coronation Street. Oh and coco lux? like you say jeanjeanie - why doesn't it occur to them that their children might be disadvantaged by these ludicrous names - just look at the silly geldof girls

and as for the traveller wedding the dress looks like it came from Ann Summers. tarmac laying must be a very lucrative business

scared3 · 30/10/2008 11:28

hi Guys - don't know if this is the right place to post but I've just had a positive test. DC1 is 10 months old and I reckon this one is about 6 weeks. I'll be 44 and clearly more fertile than I thought. really don't know what to do...

MusicMum18 · 22/08/2015 04:15
