Hi Shish,

Good news on dating scan. I have booked a private scan for this Sat because it is looking likely I might have to wait until 14 weeks for NHS one and that is too long to wait! Can't wait to see if everything is progressing normally in there. Might help me deal a bit better with this nausea. I still haven't noticed an improvement on the MS front. Drs sick note runs out this week and I still feel like death so not sure what to do next....

shish · 03/09/2008 13:02

You may not be as far gone as you thought. I thought I was 10 weeks 1 day yesterday, but the scan revealed I was only 9 weeks and 5 days!! Same sort of thing happened last time too. If that's the case that would explain wy things still aren't settling down so much. I still feel quite nauseous, but somehow seem to be managing a tiny bit better - at times! Other times I just want to curl up and hybernate!!

The consultant mentioned a drug that can help with the nausea if it got unbearably, but I can't remember what she said it was called. It bedgan with 'c'. Maybe you could ask your GP???

Oh God, I hope they don't put me back....don't know if I can live through week 9 again! Well if this is week 10 it has brought with it actual vomiting, which is just awful. Dry heaving come back - all is forgiven! Think I am going to have to visit the Dr again next week, I don't think I can go into work feeling like this...

Dotty38 · 03/09/2008 17:43

Hiya girls

Good news on dating scan Shish. I've got another two weeks to wait yet as they couldn't fit me in. I didn't think about a private one Cosogirl. Is it expensive?

Well, I've been usual rubbish feeling self plus really bad migraine yesterday (that's fading now though) but it put me to bed from about 4 yesterday afternoon until lunch time today. I then got up and thought right some toast is about all I fancy, but no bread in so went out to get some and locked self out! Grrrrrrr, had no coat on just purse in hand and the hevens opened. So not only feeling like crap but faced the prospect of a whole afternoon on the doorstep waiting for other half as hes been in London today and no possibility of him popping home, I have to say I had to fight back the tears (felt so hopeless!). But a friend up the road came to the rescue and was working at home so I could go around there. Drama over!

xxx

Cosmogirl · 04/09/2008 12:32

Hi Dotty,

It's £95 so fairly pricey but I think it will be well worth it to find out if everything is ok - and whether there is one or two. Feels like two with the strength of this nausea!

Things just don't seem to be improving for me and I am getting more and more down about it. Not sure whether to get another doctor's note or not. Just don't feel ready to go back to work yet. What do you think?

Your ordeal with getting locked out sounded terrible. I would have definitely been in tears! Haven't left the house in about two weeks, think I am prob agrophobic now!

Eating a bowl of clusters because hardly ate anything yesterday and nausea was really bad. Only prob is they have been in the cupboard a while so taste a little stale - ick...

shish · 04/09/2008 21:07

Sounds like you're both having a really rough time.

Maybe you should go back to the doc's cosmogirl and see what they suggest. They might be able to give you somethings for it? When is your scan??

The nausea is still there but I'm eating little nad often. Not really able to eat too much in one sitting, otherwise I feel really overly full and ready to vomit. So tired though. It's so much more tiring this time with ds to look after aswell. Can't wait to get a bit of energy back!!!

I'm ballooning this time so I'm gonna have to tell people. Ds was convinced there was 2!!! Thank god only 1

Hi girls,

Just a quickie to say scan went very well. Saw ONE baby wiggling about. Strong heartbeart. Two arms two legs. Least I know who is making me so poorly now!

Would highly recommend a private scan for reassurance.
Oh and the sonographer was very impressed as I got my dates exactly right at 10 +4 [what a geek!]. So due date 31st March as I thought.

How's the nausea with you both? Now I'm nearly 11 I'm hoping there might be an improvement...

shish · 08/09/2008 20:25

Thought things were getting better when they got a lot worse. Feel like the vomit is in the back of my throat, waiting to violently come out!!

Good news about the scan Cosmogirl. I went private too

Hiya.
So pleased about your scan cosmogirl. Are you still off work? I'm taking the day off today, I've had another awful migraine yesteday and still feel crap today with it so staying at home. I must say although I still feel neaseous it's nowhere near as bad as it was a week or so ago and I've stopped dry heaving which is good. So roll on 12 weeks +!!

My scan is a week today when I'll be 12 +3. I think I'll hang on, I spoke to other half about a private one but as we had one at 7 weeks and have seen the heartbeat he thought I was being over worried and inpatient(men ;)).

Cosmogirl · 10/09/2008 09:45

Hi ya,

My sicknote ran out this week but work have said I can work from home for the next couple of weeks. I feel guilty because I'm not getting much done as I feel dreadful still. I think things have got worse for me too Shish. Still constantly nauseous, dry heaving and the occassional bit of sick.

I'm even thinking of going to the dr and asking about anti-sickness meds if this carries on. Otherwise, I am going to end up spending this whole preg on sick leave. Sorry to go on, just feeling quite down at the moment I just want to be able to eat normally again, no hot meal now for 5 weeks.

Glad yours seems to be improving Dotty - that is great news.

When did yours go last time, Shish?

Madigan · 10/09/2008 11:56

hello all
I had awful morning sickness until about week 11 and now it has completely disappeared, almost overnight. I am worried now! Thought it would stick around until about week 14 ... has anyone else had the ms disappear about 11 weeks? I have a scan tomorrow, so will be able to see if everything is ok, but worried now .........

Pesha · 10/09/2008 12:08

not read all thread so don't know if this has been suggested already but I found little sips of Lucozade a massive help.

Cosmo - I had anti sickness tablets with dd and ds2, they helped with dd, with ds2 they helped at first but as I got worse i found they were stopping the vom iting but not the nausea so I felt on the verge of throwing up 24hrs a day. I stopped taking them then so I could throw up every no and then and at least have 5 minutes afterwards when I didnt feel i was about to be sick! Might me worth a try though or at least discussing with your dr if you are feeling that desperate.

shish · 10/09/2008 13:54

Hi everyone,

Hope you're all ok.

Cosmogirl - I can't remember exactly when it stopped last time, but I can remember going out for a big family celebration at the beginning of my 11th week and I was definatley fine then and had been for a few days. I'm sure it was gone by around week 11 - so hopefully not too long to go now.

I hit exactly 11 weeks tomorrow so I'm hoping for some relief soon. It's good your work is being so understanding..

Cosmogirl · 11/09/2008 09:30

Morning, well 11+2 today - would be great if it started to ease off now, tho had quite a bad day yesterday. DH is getting fed up of me moping around & said we prob need to see the Dr if things don't start to improve. If only my appetite would come back a bit I think that would help immensely. No such luck yet.

Cosmogirl · 11/09/2008 09:34

Thanks Pesha. I am feeling pretty desperate but am scared about taking medications, what if something happens to the baby? I know they are pretty safe but there is always that element of doubt after Thalidomide, Debendox etc.... Such a tough decision.

Madigan - hope your scan goes ok. To be honest I would be over the moon if the sickness stopped suddenly for me. Obviously want everything to be ok with the baby, but I think 5 weeks of feeling like this is plenty!

Pesha · 11/09/2008 10:02

Cosmogirl - the tablets I had were old antihistamines I believe (old as in the type has been around for years, not a pack the pharmacist had had at the back of the cupboard for 10 years!) so have been given to women for hayfever etc whilst pg for many years before everyone got so careful about giving medication to pg women. So while not directly tested on pg women they do have a long history of being used in pg women with no negative effects. Or thats what my Dr told me anyway and it put my mind at rest! And I know its only anecdotal but both my babies that I took the tablets with are perfectly healthy!

But it is a hard decision no matter how desperate you are.

Cosmogirl · 11/09/2008 10:27

Thanks Pesha. Just looked at your profile and your children look beautiful and healthy. So many women take them nowadays that I'm sure they must be ok.

I'm 12 weeks next Tuesday, so I think I'll see how things go over the weekend, and if still no improvement I might make an appt to see the Dr next week.

Pesha · 11/09/2008 14:54

Ah thank you! They're gorgeous aren't they?! Not that I'm biased or anything!

If its any comfort I think 10-12 weeks ish was my absolute worst time and then started to ease slightly after that, eased off more around 4 months I think although with all 3 pgs it did carry on throughout but the first trimester was definitely the worst. Obviously that last bit is not a lot of comfort I mean that it got better at around the stage you are now!

Despite the sickness theres still a little part of me that is sad I won't get to go through pregnancy and labour again. But a much bigger part of me that thinks 3 children is more than enough to deal with!!

I hope it does ease up or even stop for you soon, you are so nearly through the worst now

Cosmogirl · 11/09/2008 15:39

Thanks - I really hope the second trimester brings some relief! It has been such a tough time. Also I've lost a stone and really need to start eating properly, so the baby gets to nourishment! Everything crossed for an improvement v soon!

Not too good really. I went back to work this week and seem to be managing 9-4. But when I get home I feel really rough and go straight to bed. Then between 4 and sleep I usually throw up a couple of times. Seems to be mainly stomach acid and bile though.

How are you doing?

Sycamoretree · 18/09/2008 11:37

Preggie Pops here

Motherbliss sell them too - google for best price. They come as sweets in a tin or as lollipops.

Fresh Lemon in your handbag - dig nails in and sniff at first wave of nausea

I vommed morning noon and night for 18 weeks with both pregnancies - one of the biggest factors in why I won't be having any more kids!

Good luck.

ogs2003 · 18/09/2008 16:11

Hello all, new to mn although have been reading for a few weeks. Like many others I am 6 weeks prg and just so very very low with the nausea and throwing up. I have days when i hardly eat or drink cause I try stuff and it makes me sick so I just sort of give it up as a bad idea. I am struggling with work and keeping all the day to day stuff going. DH is depressed as he says he didnt realise if would be so rough! Plus i keep complaining he smells when he has eaten something spicy!!! This is my second prg, my son is 5 and although i know i felt rough that time it seems doubly worse this time round!! I have tried the bands, ginger (made me vomit) crackers, you name it i have tried it!! I hate to come on here and moan like this because i really want this baby but i feel i am at the end of my tether. Someone told me you can go into hospital on a iv which helps you for a bit but I dont know how bad it needs to be for this to happen. Im desperate
