Welcome Huck, you sound very similar to me. It is really really hard isn't it? I will be nine weeks next Tuesday, but it still hasn't got any easier yet. I am just hoping that it will end soon so I can start enjoying this preg and feel like myself again.

I really miss enjoying my food too

shish · 25/08/2008 20:47

It's got to be worth a try. Anything to help.

I have been a bit knocked out his weekend. Taken full advantage of ds being at home. He has been spending a lot of time with ds and I have been resting while they play around me.. Hope you guys have had a better weekend x

Hi Shish,

Had a terrible weekend. Was in bed most of it or dry heaving over the toilet. Somehow my body still resists being sick....I have completely gone off food now and am struggling to eat at all I've lost 9 lbs so far.

I am off work today and going to see the doctor at 4 to see what they can advise. I just can't go on like this, it is just awful. Have already cried this morning and it is only 9.15

shish · 26/08/2008 16:57

Let me know if you pick up any useful tips. This is the worst I have ever felt. Was supposed to be locuming for a friend today, but had to call him this morning and tell him I couldn't make it. Have only just got out of bed and had a shower! Didn't sleep all night for fear of throwing up..

Hi Shish,

Sorry to hear you are feeling so dreadful too. Week 9 has got to be the peak of this sickness, surely?....Well saw the doctor and she said there was nothing she could do in terms of medication, but she signed me off from work for two weeks.

She just advised to keep hydrated, drinking carbohydrate drink, suck barley sugar etc....If it gets to the point where you cannot eat or keep food down you will end up in hospital on a drip. Really hoping it doesn't come to that.

Well I was finally sick this morning. Was eating rice krispies in bed and felt my tummy go all icky, so went to the loo and finally threw up. It was only a little amount and wasn't too bad at all. Actually felt better for it. I wonder now that I have been physically sick that it will open the flood gates....Already struggling to eat as seem to have gone off all foods.

Cosmogirl · 27/08/2008 08:54

This is the worst I have felt too, and I mean that as in ever. No other illness compares to how awful you feel with M/S - it truly one of the most horrible and debilitating feelings. I just pray that we are coming through the worst of it now because I want my life back

Hope Dotty is OK - haven't heard from her for a while.

Cosmogirl · 27/08/2008 08:56

When I said no other illness, I meant no other illness that I have experienced.....didn't want to belittle other illnesses.

shish · 27/08/2008 10:15

I have to say that I have been eating as sometimes that's the only thing that helps. Not much in one go though. Just little and often. Luckily I haven't been sick yet, although I have felt very close to it. I really don't cope very well with that at all.

It's good that you have an understanding doctor and you can get a bit of rest. I have ds with me today so we'll have to see what the day holds.

I was reading one of my old books the other day that was saying by week 11 things should start to settle. We're in week 10 now so hopefully things should start to get better soon.

I have found jaffa cakes have helped and sugary drinks if I sip on them - worth a try I guess.

I hope you manage to get some rest today and we all start to feel better soon

Hello Shish/Cosmogirl/Dotty

I am 7 weeks too! And feel baaaad. Like you say, its the unrelenting nauseau and tiredness. I'm sure it wasn't this bad with DD1. I've been eating constantly - yoghurts, nairns ginger oatcakes, go ahead bars, pork pies, scoth eggs and pot noodles! and sipping on ginger and lemongrass cordial. Evenings seem to be better than daytimes, which is no good for poor DD1. CBeebies for the next few weeks! Hope you are all feeling ok today

staryeyed · 27/08/2008 13:29

Hi everyone, can I join? Congratulations on all your pregnancies! I am 6wks with my 2nd Dc and I have really really bad nausea. I am supposed to be at work but can barely stand up without feel sick and dizzy. I had morning sickness for 4months with my 1st DC. all day and all night long -even waking up at night to puke could not keep anything down not even bread or biscuits with was awful couldn't get out of bed most days. Also had excessing salivating which is horrible. I tried everything last time- ginger, bands, dry food, fresh air sweets. the only thing that worked was fizzy coke and that was just a bit of relief. This time not as bad buts its still early days and its bloody horrible but at least I've been able to eat some things. I just hope its over soon. Also very tired and feel like sleeping in the afternoon which I never do.

Dotty38 · 27/08/2008 18:32

Hi there.

I've missed so many posts! Hope you are all coping OK? And hello to the new posters and congratulations on your pregnancies.

I've been so ill over the weekend and the last few days and I havn't even been able to open my laptop and come on mumsnet. Spent the whole bank holiday weekend in bed, sickness seems to be getting worse (not actually being sick just nausea), now feel dizzy and have permenent headache, flu feeling is back with me since last Friday . I think it's because I'm not eating and drinking enough. Been trying watered down fruit juice today through a straw which seems to give some relief, I seem to find it easier to drink in sips through a straw - sounds very pathetic I know but it must be psychological or something???

snuffkin · 27/08/2008 21:24

Hmm the salt and vinegar crisps do seem to help a bit don't they! Problem is I think I'll get through 2 packets a day even if I just have a couple every time i feel sick (I'm seven weeks so that could be a lotta crisps considering I had sickness the whole way tghrough m,y last pregancy!). Does anyone know WHY they work? Is it the MSG?!

Cosmogirl · 28/08/2008 09:00

Welcome to the new posters. Hope there is some light at the end of the tunnel for us soon.

Dotty - sounds like you, me and Shish, all being around the same time are suffering in the same way. I also spent the whole weekend in bed. I can't really eat anything at all at the moment and am trying to survive on still orange lucozade. The weight is still dropping off and I'm now 9.4 when I started out at almost 10 stone....

I just need a minute or an hour of the day when I don't feel sick....is that asking so much??

I feel really bad. Going to the doctor this morning as I am getting really bad chest tightness and shortness of breath. Need to get this checked. I am quite worried as we recently discovered that I have a slightly sluggish heart but was given the go ahead to try for another baby after full heart investigations..

Cosmogirl · 29/08/2008 12:12

How did it go with the Dr, Shish? Ok, I hope. Had a really bad day yesterday and decided today need to try and be a bit more positive. I have eaten a few things so far today and the nausea seems to have calmed a little. Only nearly been sick once so far. Yesterday was a new record at 5 occasions of dry heaving...

Had a bath this morning too, so feel a bit better about myself now that I am clean etc.... Roll on week 10....

saramoon · 29/08/2008 15:38

Just popped in to look at this post. I have 2 dd (now 2 and 3) and suffered terribly with nausea with both of them til about 16 weeks so i really feel for you. I was living in Oman when i got preg with 1st and the heat and the sickness was awful, I used to love icelollies, they would stop me feeling sick for about 5 mins!! Dry biscuits too and eating little and often. Worse with second as you can't go and lie down much! Whatever people say though, it is shit and you just have to roll with it. Remember the first days and weeks of pregnancy dragging so much as i so wanted to feel better.

Mashed potato helped too! Hope you all feel better really soon and start enjoying pregnancy.

Cosmogirl · 29/08/2008 16:05

Thanks Sara. Did your nausea improve as the weeks went on? So, by 14 weeks or so, you could eat more and function better? I am 9 weeks 3 days and I think the hormones levels could be peaking which is why I am feeling particularly ill.

saramoon · 29/08/2008 20:40

Yes by 13 weeks i was feeling better. I remember going to the doctor at 12 weeks and asking them why i was still feeling sick, wasn't it supposed to stop at 3 months? The place where i worked when i was preg with dd1 had a clinic in it and at lunchtime i used to go and have an hours sleep on one of the beds, i was so tired. But gradually it did get better and by about 4 months i was eating much better and then just piled on 3 stone!!!! And yes 9-10 weeks was really bad. It will get better soon x

Cosmogirl · 30/08/2008 08:19

Thanks Sara. It is great to hear some positive stories. Roll on the next few weeks! xx

Dotty38 · 31/08/2008 10:33

Hiya.

Oh I feel encouraged reading your post Sara. It will improve it will....!

I've just reached 10 weeks today but nausea and heaving still awfully bad. Tried to do some shopping yesterday and felt so ill in the shopping centre, after only half an hour I had to sit on the floor as there were no chairs I was on my own and felt like such an idiot. Got to my car and sobbed. I'm struggling to stay positive at the mo.

Shish how are you doing? Hope it went OK with the Docs. I've been thinking about you.

xxx

Cosmogirl · 31/08/2008 12:26

Hi Dotty, yeah it's tough ... last couple of days have been a little better for me - only heaving once rather than 5 times. Are you just dry heaving or being sick? I've only thrown up once, all the other times have been dry retching.

Ten week's on Tuesday. I have next week signed off work too, so just hoping I'll be well enough wk 11 to go back to work....

xx

shish · 31/08/2008 12:26

Thanks a lot guys. Sorry I haven't posted - haven't really had a chance. I have to have an ecg on tues morning, just as a precaution, but she thinks I might be aneamic this time so I also need to have a blood test on wed. Became very anaemic after birth of ds as I lost 2 pints of blood at the birth.

Got my first antenatel sppt on tues and I've been told she will do my first scan that day too! SO it's all go at the moment.

Been so busy the last couple of days that I haven't rally given the nausea too much of a chance. From what I remember lsat time things should start to get better within the next week or 2. I hit 10 weeks tomorrow by my predicted due date, but I'll be told exactly how far gone I am when I have the scan.

I hope you're both well

Cosmogirl · 31/08/2008 12:28

X-post Shish. Good to hear from you. Glad you are feeling a bit better. I hope we all start to improve in the next week, that would be fantastic . Good news about scan date. I am still waiting to hear from the hospital - might give them a call next week.

shish · 02/09/2008 19:50

Hiya. I hope you're all doing well. Looks like no-one has had a chance to get on the computer for a few days. I had my dating scan today. All is well and I was given 29 March
