Could it be Braxton Hicks?

Gem1355 · 11/02/2005 18:26

i can't take paracetomal as on anti biotics with paracetomal in already!

Just wish this baby wuld make it's entrance into the world soon!!

What do Braxton Hicks feel like, the feeling is just like bad period pains!

I would go and get checked, I was a bit of a wuss when I was pregnant, especially with Dd2 but I had had two previous preterm labours so wouldn't take a chance.

misdee · 11/02/2005 18:34

go and be monitored for an hr, it'll put your mind at rest.

Gem1355 · 11/02/2005 18:36

I'll wait till the morning and if still there i'll call the midwife but feels a bit like wot i had a few weeks ago but the pain is not he same! then i had suspected Pre eclampsia.

I would love to sit in a bath but i have trouble getting out! and i would also love my wheat bag resting on the pain but as its hot and babys head down there i don't think a good idea!?

I just don't want to bother them if it's nothing as the weekend i was in hospital the consultant asked why i was there! i wouldn't of been there but the pain was just there and it was uncomfortable, it sounded like i was wasting her time, if you know what i mean!

It's not in a pattern it feels like it's there all the time but at some points today it's bent me forward double up in pain!

if its making you double up in pain then go in. i went in with a headache the other week, as i had also had a trace of protein in urine the day b4, so i called to ask for advice. they monitored me, and said if i felt worse then come back in so they can keep an eye on me.

jabberwocky · 11/02/2005 18:51

I didn't really get Braxton Hicks with ds so can't really advise in how they feel. If you are unsure, follow your instincts and get checked to put your mind at ease.

jabberwocky · 11/02/2005 18:52

Just saw that you were doubling over. Call and make them check you. It never hurts to be on ths safe side. That's their job, so don't let anyone make you feel bad about calling!

Always go to hospital if you are worried. I went too late for them to stop premature birth - maybe they couldn't have anyway but I'll alwasys feel guilty

Toothache · 11/02/2005 21:31

I had a few scares throughout my pregnancy with dd (6mths). I was kept in overnight at 24 wks having terrible cramps, so bad I thought it was labour. All the times it turned out to be a UTI. I had 6 courses during that pregnancy! I know you probably feel like you go to toilet 100 times a day... but perhaps if you drink more water that might help? Definitely get it checked out, sure it'll be fine though.

Toothache · 11/02/2005 21:32

should read....6 courses of antibiotics.....

Gem1355 · 12/02/2005 12:39

Hi,
Still have a few cramps, last nite my feet and legs doubled in size, never had that before and they are still quite swollen now, have a bit of a headache as well but that's not to bad!!

I was really worried about my legs last nite as they were so big but i think it's common in pregnancy isn't it?

Gem1355 - Like Angeliz said, with the swelling and the headache you should definitely phone the MW! It's probably nothing, but why take the risk. A couple of checks of the blood pressure and a listen to babies heartbeat and you'll probably be sent on your way. Keep us posted.

Gem1355 · 12/02/2005 13:21

Well i'm trying to get through to the MW at the hospital and they are always engaged!

How are you today Gem?

Gem1355 · 13/02/2005 19:36

Hi
feeling better i don't have a headache any more but still have swollen feet, MW said she will call in tomorrow or if i have any further problems to call the birthing centre.

other than that really tired, i was up at 2am putting some washing on because i couldn't sleep my feet were the size of balloons but i couldn't sit still!!!

Will let you know what MW says tomorrow!

Please do. My feet got HUGE when I was pregnant but I don't rememver it happening quite that fast. Try to take it easy, keep your fluids up (I know that seems counter intuitive when you feel swollen) and elevate your feet as often as you can.
