Should I find out the sex of DC3 - Mumsnet, you decide...

I found out with DD1, didn't with DD2. I liked the fact that I felt more bonded during pregnancy to DD1 as I knew she was a girl, she felt like a "person" ifkwim. With DD2, I wanted the surprise.

I have absolutely no preference for a boy or a girl but think it would be nice for DD1 especially if we knew what we were having this time around.

Should I keep it a lovely surprise or find out?

surprise

expatinscotland · 31/07/2008 14:25

We did and are really pleased we did!

We weren't able to find out with our two girls because Edinburgh didn't offer 20 week scans on the NHS and even if you had a later one, they wouldn't tell you.

It's a boy this time!

Surprise

pgwithnumber3 · 31/07/2008 14:27

Congratulations expat! Bet you are over the moon, will he be your last? I think secretly deep down I would like a boy but a girl would be lovely for DD2 to play with (only 10 months old, will be 16 months when DC3 born).

So you think I should expat?

F& Z says no.

1-1 at the moment!

I found out with DS1 didn't find out with DS2 and loved the surprise.

If we went for DC3 I think I would like to find out. Maybe it's to do with having 2 of the same sex already, but I'd like some idea of if I was letting myself in for 3 sons .

expatinscotland · 31/07/2008 14:27

i'm so glad we found out! we're very happy and we call him by his name. DD1 is loving it, too.

RedHead81 · 31/07/2008 14:29

surprise!!!

pgwithnumber3 · 31/07/2008 14:30

Meemar - I think I need to brace myself if I find out I will have 3 girls! They are as crazy as boys sometimes my 2!

Find out...

expatinscotland · 31/07/2008 14:32

i think it's swell if you have two or more the same sex, to find out what it is.

you get enough of a 'surprise' when it's born and you see whom it resembles, temprament, etc.

i wish we'd found out with the other two.

meglet · 31/07/2008 14:33

find out! we have found out with this pregnancy and it seems more exciting knowing we are getting a girl. We didn't find out with DS as we wanted a suprise.

Gets the arguments over the name sorted out quicker too!

notnowbernard · 31/07/2008 14:34

suprise

pgwithnumber3 · 31/07/2008 14:35

Meglet, one of the reasons I would like to find out is that after already having to find names for 2 children already, thinking of a third one is really hard, knowing that I only had to think of one would make it easier.

FrazzledFairyFay · 31/07/2008 22:02

ExterminAitch · 31/07/2008 22:03

find out

pgwithnumber3 · 31/07/2008 22:04

LOL songbird, you know I will keep you in suspense now!

How's things? DD2 has had 4 hours worth of naps today so got loads done.

I am exhausted. Have moved rooms around today. We used to have family room in the kitchen but it was doing my head in so moved the sofas out into empty huge room in front of the house and put all DDs toys in there, instant playroom! It's great as I was living in the kitchen and I felt like I was in a flat all the time. I then cleaned car out, I must be mad!

How is your garden planning going?

Find out. Then we can have a massive choose name thread

And not finding out is boring...

pgwithnumber3 · 31/07/2008 22:05

Frazzled and Aitch, are you the same person!?

Twins maybe?!

pgwithnumber3 · 31/07/2008 22:07

Have decided today quite like Anna or Emmeline (Emmy for short) for a girl Eyeballs. Don't do boy's names! (can never see myself having a boy after 2 DDs)

I had a surpisr each time (3) but was tempted third time to find out - for pratical reasons. However they don't tell you round my way, so decision was made for me. I think I might have chickened out anyway. If I have any more, not sure if I will find out, as at that time they will be offering 20 weeks cans (we only get 13 weeks currently)

lou031205 · 31/07/2008 22:09

Surprise!

ladytophamhatt · 31/07/2008 22:10

Its not that much of a surprise though, is it?

Its one or the other....

Girl or boy

There isn't a choice of 50.....

It would be a surprise if a duck billed platypus or a parrot popped out. Any one of those would be a huge surprise but that is highly unlikely to happen

pgwithnumber3 · 31/07/2008 22:10

They don't do 20 weeks scan Pot? How come? Isn't that the most important scan as they look at all the organs etc?
