Anglemother, Just to make you feel better, I'd pay serious money to anyone to take my 2 from me aswell just so I can get some peace and quiet and I'm not in pain like you. DS1 is a very excitable little boy and DS2 sees him having so much fun and has started to join in so at the moment the most used sentence in this house is "PLEASE STOP SHOUTING" which of course is normally shouted by me!
The word vicious and circle come to mind when I think about it .
I really hope you feel better soon. Take Care

ANGELMOTHER · 06/08/2003 07:31

Thanks EmmaTMG, we love them dearly but being pg during summertime doesn't work at all does it. They're on holidays the days are hot, we're bothered................I could go on but have already

lisalisa are you sure its thrush? I had it a few weeks ago, dr prescribed cannesten but took a culture as she said it may be an actual infection. But it was thrush...what I mean is that you may have an infection. In which case I would think you would want it cleaned up before the birth so nothing gets passed to the babe.

Don't be embarrassed!!!

pie · 06/08/2003 14:40

Meant to add, that if you are seen by a medical team at hosp then maybe you have a GP you can go to just for this?

pie · 06/08/2003 14:42

Or you could try the 3 day pressary cannesten for thrush before seeing a doctor.

I used the pressaries, one a night for 3 days, the cream never works for me.

Is there no female doctor at your sugery??

I hope you get it sorted out soon, must be hell in this heat.

ANGELMOTHER · 06/08/2003 15:55

LisaLisa have you tried the natural yoghurt method, mind you make sure you're not expecting anyone to call around as this could be more embarassing than sitting stirruped up in front of your GP

I'm just back from the GP myself and have found out the reason for this horrendous back pain....little one is transverse, hope to God she turns soon.
GP also wants to organise growth scan due to my impending move (see moving to Manchester thread).........

Phew what a day, and every shop in town is still sold out of bl*y fans.

lisalisa, the cream and yoghurt methods only soothe the itching and swelling. You need the pessary and the cream to make it work. You can get it at he chemist if you don't want to speak to your doctor, although theres no reason to be embarrased as they must get 10 cases of thrush a day. I think it would actually be considered very lucky not to get thrush when your pregnant.

ANGELMOTHER · 06/08/2003 19:04

Bekki is right Lisalisa the yoghurt will only "relieve" the itch but does help, as for inserting it well a little won't hurt I don't think.
Trying to remember the last time I did this and just recall dh laughing his heart out as I lay upside down with legs akimbo on the couch.
Some seeps in anyway if you're upsidedown.

Do try and get the pessary aswell though.

lisalisa, I used the pressaries last thing at night, so if you fall asleep straight after use they shouldn't be able to slip down before they start working.

Where are you applying the cream? If you really can't face a pressary you can try applying the cream directly onto your cervix, though this won't be as long lasting and you would have to do it more often.

pie · 07/08/2003 12:26

Oh, yeah and the pressaries come with a very long applicator that is supposed to go past the actual cervix and place the tablet beyond it. Longer than a tampax applicator.

The pressary itself looks like an overgrown paracetamol tablet, it has not coating or anything. It fits into a wand/plunger like contraption. you insert the wand, push the plunger and the tablet gets left up there and then desolves. If I put it in about 9pm and fell asleep by the time I got up at about 1am to use the loo there would be a powedery residue already working its way down, so they desolve pretty quickly, just from your body heat.

I had a box which contained 3 of these tablets, one a night and that was it.

When you say it never goes far enough did you use the applicator or your fingers. Because the tablet needs to go higher then where your fingers could push. Make sure you get the pressaries that come with the applicator though. I think it was £6.95 for 3 tablets with the pressary.

I haven't tried it but they do have those oral tablets, you'd have to ask the pharmacist if they are safe during pregnancy though.

Don't suffer though hon!!!

pie · 07/08/2003 12:48

3 tablets with the applicator I mean!!

You can buy all this stuff online here if you are feeling too embarrassed to go into a shop, but email first to check you get the pressaries with the applicator.

pie · 07/08/2003 12:50

Just seen you can't take the oral tablet if you are pregnant, so its the cream or pressary I guess.

The Canesten Complete has a pre filled applicator of cream to be put in at night, rather than the tablet pressary, maybe you could try that instead?

Good luck, I can't imagine how horrid it is to have thrush in this heat!

Hello all, haven't posted on this thread (or any other) for some time. Enjoy reading them all though. I think 'ah I am going to write this.... scroll up and someone else has already done it. Am 32wks tomorrow and like all of you I am absolutely fed up with this darn heat. Usually love sunbathing but now sun makes me chunk. Have finally finished nursery (spare room, but nursery sounds a bit posher). Excellent tip for keeping cool, put feet in washing up bowl of cool water. I have been having cool baths but DH informs me that your body temp goes up to compensate for this and you end up even hotter. Wondered why I sweated like pig after. To anyone who remembers my early posting about weight, I have still only put on another lb. Saw Obs last week and he was 'your baby is normal size'. So maybe baby still eating my fat. Sorry to waffle, but is anyone else finding it hard to eat. I am really struggling to eat, usually I am lardy glutton.

Anyway hope everybody is healthy & happy. According to all the mums I know, I should enjoy this time as I will wish I was still preggers after I have baby.

wiltshire · 07/08/2003 22:03

Oh and the thrush, plain yoghurt really does work for me and your GP will pescribe something oral I should think as you have had it awhile.
