Congratulations Aggie and Butterfly so pleased for you both

Franny! good luck! Next time the phone rings you will POUNCE on it and shriek "yes yes YES its on its way" to hear "do you want some double glazing?"

Hatrick - your baby will be out before mine, at least

MamaG · 16/07/2008 13:02

SK glad your spd has almost gone

must be a tremendous relief

FrannyandZooey · 16/07/2008 13:08

I feel silly saying the baby might be coming when I haven't had a single contraction

god sorry if I am being over optimistic again - she was VERY encouraging

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 16/07/2008 13:21

pmsl @ selfish overdue cows

Great news Franny! It's great when someone is encouraging and believes in you, it gives you a real lift.

Your contractions may not start for a day or so, but you're on the right track. IT WILL HAPPEN!!!!

LullyOfShallot · 16/07/2008 13:26

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

VictorianSqualor · 16/07/2008 13:33

Threads like these make me desperate to get pg again.
I want a go at labour!!

WMMC's baby should be born by now, they like their planned CS's done by lunchtime at the JR(not always possible I know, mine didn't get done until 2pm but she can't have much longer if it's not already here.)

Come on franny love, jiggle about a bit and it will just fall out (well, would be nice if it did wouldn't it!)

butterflyMcQueen · 16/07/2008 13:41

oh ladies i do feel for you! Baby MQ has fed continuously for 24 hours- dp asked in all seriousness if i had 'banged my eyes' today as i look so shit!!

i do hope your babies turn up soon ...feels odd having mine when you were all due before me.

i love looking at him and thinking 'how did i fit him inside'

seriously get that lanisoh cream in though - it is a godsend and i have fed a lot of babies....

fingers crossed Franny and Hatty and lots of love labour vibes to you both x

Poledra · 16/07/2008 14:17

Great news Franny - hope it's all kicked off by now

Still here, still no sign, induction tomorrow

AggiePanther · 16/07/2008 15:22

Good luck Franny!!!!

springerspaniel · 16/07/2008 16:36

My midwife said that 1 in 4 go into labour within 24 (or 48?) hours but that obviously includes those who would have done so in any case.

She didn't sound too hopeful as I was 'soft, slightly effaced but not dilated.'

Have been leaking small amounts of pink and now dark brown slime since then.

How delightful.

EEC · 16/07/2008 17:02

Can I join in! 3 days overdue here. Had sweep today but mw not hopeful as cervix unfavourable. I am bouncing on my ball in desperation though. Sooooo fed up. It could be another week or more.

Springerspaniel - good that you are having a show. nothing here. Do you think a show is needed if it is going to work?

springerspaniel · 16/07/2008 17:16

I think some people lose their plug in one go without noticing.

Last pregnancy, it was sex that brought on labour. Didn't have a show, waters broke a few hours later without warning.

policywonk · 16/07/2008 17:18

Come oooooon Franny (and others).

If you have him/her today it'll share its birthday with ME

min912 · 16/07/2008 17:22

Does the ball bouncing really help?? Because with the spd it can be a bit uncomfortable.

Fingers and toes (but not legs) crossed for F&Z! Stops me from thinking that it's actually possible for babies to stay put permanently.

Am seeing m/w tomorrow so will ask for sweep but as i will have DS with me not sure if this is a good idea 'you just play on the floor darling while the nice midwife shoves a hand up mummy'.

Meanwhile I have:
-dyed my over-grey roots
-done more stuff to rental house in preparation for tenants moving in on saturday (including some painting, ooof)
-sent tax return to accountant
-sent child benefit form back
-updated DH's 'to-do' list.
So all that's left is re-organising our wedding photos and perhaps doing some 'Money-saving-expert' stuff. Hardly urgent, come on baby, now is a good time....

(I know I am technically an interloper as I am still a few days shy of being overdue, but what with the spd and the bloomin stomach cramps every single morning leading to permanently very sore bottom, I am more than ready NOW thank you! Please let me stay )

EEC · 16/07/2008 17:33

Have decided to finally do some cooking and stock the freezer tomorrow. Ohh the excitement. Your list got me motivated Min. I must stop wasting every day feeling sorry for myself and lying on the sofa! Of course LO wants to stay inside. He thinks life outside must be too dull for words, as I never do anything! (not that my cooking will entice him out!)

MamaG · 16/07/2008 17:35

Well done min, I'm suret hat has helped!

springerspaniel · 16/07/2008 17:57

Min912 - for what it's worth, my sweep yesterday was fine. I was shitting myself beforehand.

I couldn't have taken my DS as he would have destroyed her office but otherwise it wasn't traumatic.

Just concentrate on the ceiling, take deep breaths (practice for labour) and keep thinking that this is to get the baby to come.

It was more uncomfortable than a smear test but not a million miles away. In fact, I remember one really painful smear test - mid-procedure she told me she had too many 'inadequate samples' sent back from the lab so she need a good scrape. OUCH.

springerspaniel · 16/07/2008 17:58

..also she might not do it then and there as you need a longer appt.

FabioUnblogged · 16/07/2008 18:03

min tell ds you are playing glove puppets with the midwife. Do NOT let him join in. Give him a sock. (as in sock not sock)

Where is Franny?

PS Squonk and MamaG - does your cheerleading squad need a cat? I too am but a groupie on this thead.

PPS If we get Franny et al doing cheerleady backflips and giving it WooYeah might that induce labour? And we must put them in pleated mini skirts and pom poms and laugh at them for the authentic experience.

min912 · 16/07/2008 18:26

Good point about the longer appt. I am just assuming that they will bow to my demands because I am fed up!!
Ideally I wouldn't take DS of course but the appt is after I pick him up from the childminder's and she's being extra-flexible and helpful at the moment so I don't want to take the mickey.
Doula is at the theatre in london tonight so I can't go into labour until I am sure she can get back here in time!!

FrannyandZooey · 16/07/2008 18:39

nothing much happening here
I sooooooo hope the midwife was right though
springer the show sounds very hopeful
or if not, you could do what I did and have another sweep in a couple of days - the midwife today said she reckons the one on Monday when I was all closed etc will have started me along a bit

I really feel like I should be walking around loads but I am pretty tired and uncomfortable
I don't know what is best?
