sweetkitty I expect he knew only to make such remarks from the safety of a moving vehicle.

MamaG · 13/07/2008 15:53

Sorry you're having such a shit day Franny. I'll join the camp of "it means the baby is on its way" even though I haven't got a clue really. I think it will be o-u-t by 5.11 this afternoon.

See Franny, lulu says call the midwife too, and she knows what she's talking about

FrannyandZooey · 13/07/2008 16:11

gah, I can stand up
I just don't like it
I think it has gone off a bit tbh
LOL at it being out by 5
just in time for tea eh?

thanks ladies, I will be surprised if anything more happens today

fryalot · 13/07/2008 16:12

I third (or fourth) calling the midwife. And I fourth (or fifth) saying that this means things are moving along and you may well have a baby tonight or tomorrow

Do you have your hospital blackberry ready so you can update us from the labour suite?

FrannyandZooey · 13/07/2008 16:14

oh nothing is happening, ladies, it just hurts a bit
please don't all say it is coming, we will be all slumpy again when it doesn't

OP posts:
fryalot · 13/07/2008 16:16

it's not coming, it's not coming, it's NOT coming I tell ye!

Doctor Squonk prescribes lying on bed/settee with laptop and trashy magazines for the next three hours, then see how you feel.

Of course I am not actually a doctor

FrannyandZooey · 13/07/2008 17:31

right it got better then it got bad again, standing up and sitting down seem to be the key offenders, to point where I went to toilet and had to do yelping
phoned delivery suite feeling stupid but tbh hoping they would say "we will send someone to fix it"
she said it could be labour (does not feel like any form of labour known to me) but take 2 paracetamol and have a bath (aNOTHER bath?)
so there you go

have completely taken over this thread with my whingy whinging and frightened off all the other fab overdue ladies haven't I? sorry

fryalot · 13/07/2008 17:37

You know when you were at school and you got sent to see the school nurse... she always gave you an aspirin and sent you back to class whether you went with period pains, a broken arm or having stripped every bit of skin off your left leg on the hockey pitch (not that I'm bitter about that last bit or anything )

Anyway, I think midwives are trained to answer the phone and automatically say "have a couple of paracetamol and a bath"

Perhaps they aren't even human - maybe it's just a sophisticated answering machine that makes you think someone is actually giving you good advice when in fact, the machine is programmed to be the labour ward's version of the school nurse.

fryalot · 13/07/2008 17:38

any more shows since the other day?

FrannyandZooey · 13/07/2008 17:41

I do feel better though, I think it was a good message

I am not sure if these things I have had are shows
look away if squeamish
it is just like a blob of mucus sometimes with a brown lump in
not red like blood

Oh, I know that helpless 'just fix it goddamn it' attitude to medics. I think at a point, you start mistaking them for some sort of universal competant mother (god knows, not the kind I had!).

It does sound like things are changing, which must be a good thing, at least in some sense?

Should I distract you by explaning that you should send DP and DS out to us to go climbing some day soon? Prob not what you want with a tiny one on the way, though.

fryalot · 13/07/2008 17:45

they sound like shows to me.

tis the mucus plug coming away, so it makes sense that they look mucussy.

Can you manage another bath? (it is a good message, btw - a bath often makes you feel better)

Things are definitely happening - although it could still be a while, but you should make sure that you are as ready as you can be. (by which I mean you get in the most comfortable position that you can, stay there and get someone else to do everything)

FrannyandZooey · 13/07/2008 17:47

oh they'd love it NQC
we have one of those playground climbing walls not too far off and that is fun for ds, but the real thing would be marvellous

hatrick I really don#'t think this is it
have a good evening and hoppe things move for you soon

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 13/07/2008 17:47

squonk that has been my tactic for about 3 weeks! it is wearing a little thin on everyone

NotQuiteCockney · 13/07/2008 17:48

The real thing really is great fun, the wall is at the end of our street, we pretty much live there. When you are not huge, you could come and ogle half-naked men climb, too.

NotQuiteCockney · 13/07/2008 17:48

Arse, that didn't work.

fryalot · 13/07/2008 17:49

franny - but this time you really mean it

NotQuiteCockney · 13/07/2008 17:53

It does sound like a show to me, from what I remember. I never had one, though, so what do I know?

FrannyandZooey · 13/07/2008 17:54

dp says he can work at home tomorrow if ness, so that's goood

nqc being huge doesn't prevent me ogling semi naked men

OP posts:
fryalot · 13/07/2008 17:54

if you need some help getting around in order to ogle semi naked men, I am prepared to come down and lend a hand

NotQuiteCockney · 13/07/2008 17:55

That's true.

A friend has asked if there's a cafe at the climbing wall where she can just ogle - but of course, you can always come there to supervise DS climbing.
