Any other first-time mums-to-be just found out they’re pregnant?

I’ve just found out I’m pregnant and, according to my dates, I’m currently 5 weeks + 4 days. It’s my first pregnancy at 39.

So far my main symptoms are headaches, bloating, constipation, and a little bit of nausea. The nausea is manageable at the moment as long as I eat regularly, I’ve already got ginger biscuits by the bed ready for first thing in the morning!

I thought I’d start a thread to see if there are any other first-time mums-to-be around the same stage who fancy a chat. As it’s all still very new, and I’m not quite ready to move over to WhatsApp groups yet, it would be lovely to compare symptoms, share milestones, worries and excitement, and hopefully support each other through the first trimester and beyond.

Anyone else due around the same time and fancy joining me? 😊

Hi everyone! We had our 6 week scan this week and I'm pregnant with twins! We saw both heartbeats so that's reduced anxiety a little... Next scan booked for 8 weeks. Anyone else doing early scans?

I have my first midwife appointment booked at 8+3. @LazyCat96 gosh that's a long wait 11 weeks, I wonder if they'll do your 12 week scan at the same time, as it can be before or after 12 weeks

Light nausea has started today, I think for most people it ramps up around week 7/8 😬

Springcloud26 · 18/06/2026 12:38

@ButterscotchBabe Wow, congratulations, that’s so exciting! I’m so pleased you saw both heartbeats, I can imagine how reassuring it must have been!

I’ve got my booking appoint for mid July when I’ll be 9+ 3 weeks. I’ve booked an early scan privately for 8 weeks in a week or so (it was going to be at 7 weeks but I had a panic this morning that it might be too early, as I had late ovulation at CD 22.

I’m feeling pretty normal this week apart from continued bloating / constipation.

Sadly it's turned out to be a loss for me, so I'll leave the thread here. Absolute best of luck to all of you with your pregnancies and hopefully I won't be too far behind! ❤️

HopefulK · 18/06/2026 15:43

@Witchfoot I’m so so sorry to hear that. Take care of yourself 💐

Hiya! Looking to join 😊 I’m 6 weeks exactly today with my second baby. First is a little toddler boy that keeps us tired enough, all the pregnancy experiences and symptoms are slowly coming back to me 😅

Springcloud26 · 18/06/2026 17:08

Welcome @tantrai! I’m 6 + 2weeks so similar. I’m feeling calmer (now I have some appoints booked) but finding the waiting difficult at this early stage! Any tips welcome!

Hi exciting @ButterscotchBabe ! I’ve felt so tired today, had 2 daytime naps 😴

Lulalemon8 · 19/06/2026 06:52

Congratulations to you all! I also recently found out, I’m now 6 weeks 5 days (36yo).

The symptoms have come and gone for me and luckily not suffered with much nausea 🙏🏻 but I am tired alot! and don’t sleep well even having cut out caffeine, alcohol.
I agree on the ‘pulling’ sensations! All of these new feelings and google is my best friend 😂 so good to know I’m not alone on that.

I paid for a private ‘early assurance test’ at 5 weeks which definitely helped put our minds at ease instead of waiting for the NHS scan as it feels like such a long time!

Have you shared the news with friends/family yet? I’m counting down the weeks until it’s safe for us to!

ButterscotchBabe · 19/06/2026 07:27

@Springcloud26 thank you! Oooh exciting, 8 weeks isn't long to go! Good shout on pushing it back to 8 weeks if you've had a late ovulation, that will give you a much higher chance of seeing the heartbeat.

@HopefulK thank you! Yes the exhaustion is relentless, we've got so much DIY to do before they arrive but I get worn out just walking up the stairs 🙈😂. Don't feel guilty at all and take as many naps as you need!

@Lulalemon8 welcome! Oh wow I didn't know you could get scans that early, all the places near me only start at 6/7 weeks. Do you think you'll have another one or wait until NHS one now? We've told a few close friends and family but won't announce it widely until 12 weeks

@tantrai welcome!

Springcloud26 · 19/06/2026 09:19

@Lulalemon8 when do you plan on telling people? I haven’t told anyone other than partner, and if symptoms allow, I’d like to wait until 12-14 weeks to tell close family, friends and work - not sure if that is realistic or not!

@ButterscotchBabe I’ll be counting down the days to the scan, just want to have a little bit of reassurance!

I’m finding my concentration for work tasks is unusually very low - is that a sign of fatigue do you think?

OP posts:
ButterscotchBabe · 21/06/2026 13:13

@Springcloud26 yes low concentration is definitely due to fatigue, your body is busy growing a human 😀. I've found the same, it should ease up in 2nd trimester but that feels a long way away.

With this weather I'm definitely glad we'll be having winter babies, I don't envy the poor ladies heavily pregnant right now 🥵

HopefulK · 22/06/2026 07:14

How is everyone doing? I’m 6+1 today and the last few days have been tough…feel totally floored by nausea and fatigue. @Springcloud26 totally get what you mean about concentration, I’m struggling with even the smallest of tasks!!

Springcloud26 · 22/06/2026 07:52

@HopefulK I’m still feeling fairly normal apart from the bloating and low concentration! I was expecting to feel worse by now, but as I ovulated late, I’m wondering if I’m closer to 5 + 3 weeks in development rather than 6 + 6 weeks (date of last period)!

@ButterscotchBabe I know, I was thinking the same, it’s getting so hot!

OP posts:
Springcloud26 · 25/06/2026 09:56

How is everyone doing? I’ve been waking up at 5am and having a productive few hours before the tiredness hits! Feeling a little bit sick this morning too, but it may just be the heat! 🥵

OP posts:
HopefulK · 25/06/2026 13:09

Hello @Springcloud26 also waking up super early! Feeling a lot more nauseas this week, but like you say don’t know how much is being exacerbated by the heat. Have got my midwife appointment through now which makes it feel real! 6+4 today.

freakinthespreadsheets · 25/06/2026 14:29

Hello, please can I join? Bit late to the party! I'm 25 and just found out im pregnant with our first (5 weeks since LMP today).

I'm not very far along but hoping you ladies who are in the throes of morning sickness are holding up OK in this heat!
Symptoms wise so far I'm noticing my nipples have got bigger and more sensitive, and i am constantly wet down below (like, ovulation-slippery wet, every day! Sorry for tmi).

My partner has a chromosome translocation that puts me at higher risk of miscarriage and baby having problems, but I'm trying to put it out of my mind until the 12 week scan and just enjoy what time we may have together. I've booked a reassurance scan at 7 weeks so 2 weeks today, to try and reduce my anxiety around miscarriage. Is there anyone else on here handling worries like this? I'm finding it hard balancing enjoying the news with not worrying too much!

This was a planned pregnancy except we'd planned to start trying later in the year, so i guess both planned and an accident! I just want to soak it all in and I'm loving every minute as I've wanted to be a Mum for so long 🥰

Springcloud26 · 25/06/2026 17:32

@HopefulK oh that’s exciting you have the midwife appoint booked! Hope the neusea eases soon.

@freakinthespreadsheets welcome! I know what you mean about wanting to enjoy the news but it being early still! I’ve also booked an early scan next Tuesday when I’ll be 8 weeks based on LMP but I think really I’m closer to 6 + 4. As this is my first positive, there is no real reason for me to be anxious, but it just doesn’t seem real yet - I have to keep looking at the test photo! I thought I’d have more symptoms which is worrying me! I hope your 7 week scan goes well 😊

Lulalemon8 · 26/06/2026 18:20

@Springcloud26 We’re telling some immediate family members around now, I’ll be 8 weeks on Sunday and then I’ll tell work / friends around 12 week mark. It has been hard though!

Hope everyone has been coping this week with the heat! I’ve had some nausea , headache and full on exhaustion 🥵

@ButterscotchBabe I know I feel for those in their last trimester! I think I need to get an air con unit as We’ve another 2 months of summer! 😂

Id booked in a second scan as recommended by the team who did my first scan just to check things are going in the right direction so trying to keep positive 🙏🏻❤️

Hope everyone has a great weekend x
