Pregnancy after loss

Hi, I'm 4+4 after a loss at 6+5 in April. I don't want to join the 'due in January' thread yet as I joined the December one then had to bow out, but thought it might be nice to have a thread where anyone in a similar position could chat/vent? I can't see any recent similar threads, apols if I have missed.

I'm feeling a lot more nauseous than last time which I have read can be a positive sign, but obviously doesn't guarantee anything. Just trying to cling to any hope I can!

Just a little update: bleeding seems to have tapered off so hoping to be going home tonight. They did a scan today and everything was looking fine and no sign of the original haematoma so fingers crossed that was the last of it! Just been told though that baby is measuring small (less than 10th centile) so I need another scan in a couple of weeks to check on that. It's just one thing after another! My DS was off the charts for size during pregnancy and once born (over the top of the centile lines) so this is baffling to me!

My bleeding decided to kick off again last night just before bed. I find it’s getting up after periods of inactivity that does it. But it’s on the way out! The last one rumbled on for a few weeks and just reminding myself this was smaller than the first

@ThatMintMember great news it sounds like you're getting home, and fingers crossed it's a blip size-wise (though as a friend going through similar was told, someone has to be at the top and bottom of the charts - I know that may not help when you've had one stress after another)

I'm starting a pregnancy yoga class tonight, loved the class I went to with my son and made some good friends there but have been putting off starting anything in this pregnancy as I felt so uncertain, so I'm looking forward to it 😊

@SlightlyTerrifiedButPolite how are you getting on today? Have you had to get seen with each bleed? I've been told to go in anytime I see fresh blood but it's just making me not want to use the loo so I won't see it!

Thanks for the support @ChasingRainbow5 . I literally hadn't told anyone I was in hospital but it's great being able to share here :) happy to report I've had a lovely uneventful day at home today haha.

Hello all, looking for advice

I had brown/red bleeding at around 5 weeks, it was due to a haematoma and baby and heartbeat was all good.

I am currently 11 weeks and had watery red bleeding, it leaked all down my legs and all over my clothes. I don’t really have any cramps or pain at the moment, I called the number for the epu and was told to stay at home and rest unless I get severe pain or the bleeding gets heavier.

I am currently sitting at home terrified, I had a mmc last year and I am so scared. Has this happened to any one else and everything was fine?

Since the big gush of watery blood, I’m just having bleeding similar to like being on my period.

@AnonymousUser101I’m sorry I can’t offer any medical advice. I’m so shocked your EPU won’t see you for a scan, mine would invite you in for any worry. Granted sometimes it was a couple of days before they had scan availability. They may be able to prescribe progesterone cause you’ve had a bleed. I’d call back and say the bleeding has got worse, and you want to be seen.

Another option dependent where you are is a different EPU. There’s two hospitals near me that are different Trusts. I moved my care to a different hospital as I found their EPU more supportive. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you

I am already on progesterone, I have been since I had a scan at the epu when I was 6+4

My local epu is usually really good but they are only open Monday to Friday so the number I called is just a number you can contact for advice 7 days a week 24/7.

I will contact my epu on Monday as soon as they open but it seems like such a long time to wait for help when I am still bleeding

Bless you, how frustrating that they have limited opening hours. Appreciate it’s an additional cost, but could you get a private scan anywhere close to home before then? @AnonymousUser101

I know, I did call them back and they said that all there scans are done for today so I am welcome to go up and be assessed but I wouldn’t be able to be scanned till tomorrow morning so I think I’m just going to wait until tomorrow morning and go in then and hopefully be scanned x

I just wanted to share I’ve had two big bleeds from haematomas. Both time gushing blood that went through my clothes. Some bright red. At times watery. And then brown. Also had a massive clot the first one (about half the size of my palm). My first one was at 7+1 and my last one was 13+4 (Sunday just gone). Both times it was like a water balloon amount of blood when it started suddenly.

Do you have any pain?

For mine I had quite intense bleeding the first 48 hours and then it slowly tapered off. First one continued for 3.5 weeks (despite being on progesterone) and this last one took about 5 days. I did get mild cramping. I’ve had a loss and the cramps weren’t at that level. Both times I’ve had a scan and it was fine. The first scan I was sure I had lost it as there was so much blood and even clots on the scanning bed.

Keeping everything crossed for you that this is just another haematoma making its way out and that you get answers quickly tomorrow xxx

@ThatMintMembersorry I missed your message! I’m much better thank you! I’ve been checked after each bleed. It’s now fully stopped and I have symptoms which is reassuring me 😅. I have my “12 week scan” (actually more like 14 weeks) this week and so I can get another bit of reassurance there hopefully. Hope you are recovered from your hospital stay 🤗, has that bleeding fully calmed down now?

I’ve not really had much pain no, I’ve had mild crampy feelings but nothing severe that stops me from going about my day, the bleeding now is just like a period. It was absolutely terrifying and I’ve not stopped crying all day just thinking the worst. Really hoping I can manage to get a scan tomorrow and get some answers xx

That actually sounds very similar to my bleed at 14 weeks, very watery like a gush that ran down my legs, it happened a couple of times that day, bled red for a couple of days then changed to brown and stopped.

It sounds hopeful that there's no cramping, although for reassurance that you aren't miscarrying my maternity assessment unit checked that my cervix was still closed (it was) in addition to a scan to see if a bleed could be seen (it couldn't) and that baby was ok. Obviously I was a few weeks further on but ultimately if you're on progesterone and your cervix is still closed and baby is still happy then that's everything that can be done at that point. I hope that helps, I'd imagine they can do similar checked at 11 and 14 weeks.

I'm 25 weeks now so everything was ok after that bleed and a haematoma was found on my 20 week scan which seemed to explain it.

Yes thank you 😊 bleeding has stopped now and I'm managing to get back to normal after a difficult week. I am worried that the drama isn't all over but for now I just want time to pass and baby to keep growing!

Is there anyone who can go with you to the scan tomorrow? I felt awful en route (both times!).

Update on this - I called back at 8:30 this morning and they said I will need to contact 111 or go to A&E to be referred. I called 111, spoke with a gp and was told they will not scan over weekends unless they suspect a possible eptopic so to call the epu on Monday when they open. I explained all my worries due to having a mmc last year and they just said to wait till tomorrow and contact my epu when they are open and to rest for day. After all of that I am still having to just wait till tomorrow x

Thank you, it’s just period like at the moment, it’s not heavy and I have no pain thank fully. I was just really hoping I would get some answers today x
