Hello

so I am currently pregnant with a baby boy and my partner is strongly against getting him vaccinated when he gets here as he believes vaccines cause / increase risk of autism,
especially in boys

id never thought twice about this but now hes put it in my head. Yes ive done my own research but hes saying doctors and the internet will tell you what you want to hear because they want you to vaccinate your kids. Tbh hes a conspiracy theorist

i just want to hear from people who vaccinated their sons and their son didn’t develop it? I know some people will shout at me for this, not my intention to offend anyone

@ElectoralControversy Not educated beyond compulsory level is my new insult.

Actually one of my cousins is deaf in one ear due to measles, the other died of polio.

I’d be far more concerned about a child catching preventable diseases than “getting autism from vaccines” because that claim has been scientifically debunked for decades.

The original study that linked vaccines to autism was found to be fraudulent, he lost his medical licence, and the paper was retracted. Since then, millions of children across multiple countries have been studied, and there is still no evidence vaccines cause autism in boys or girls.

What did happen before vaccines was children dying or being permanently disabled from measles, polio, meningitis, rubella, whooping cough etc. People forget how brutal those diseases were because vaccines made them rare. When vaccination rates drop, those diseases come back. We’ve already seen measles outbreaks in places where anti-vaccine misinformation spread faster than common sense.

Vaccines didn’t create autism. They created generations of children who survived childhood.

@SunnySideChaos Brilliantly said. Why on earth this rubbish about vaccinations is still considered by any decent parent is beyond me. The outbreaks of measles would tell us vaccination is necessary. We have too many parents who don’t understand or care about stopping these childhood illnesses and by not having vaccinations, other dc are put at risk. It’s appalling.

My mother had very poor eyesight as a result of measles at the age of 2. She wore those bottle end glasses, IYSWIM and wasn't able to learn to drive, her eyes were so poor. When I was young there were people older than me who had to use calipers to walk as a result of polio. My older friend had a useless arm also as a result of polio. In his case he was born in India and contracted it as a small child. This was before polio had a vaccination.
Countless people have been saved due to vaccines. To refuse to vaccinate a child is appalling. For info, what do you think about vaccinations for tetanus, or TB or diphtheria which can kill quite quickly?

A big part of the problem is the anti-vaxxers of today were vaccinated as children, so were shielded from the effects of disease as it gave them protection. They think there is no problem with disease epidemics.

Couldn’t agree more

You should do your own research. It's his child just as much as it is your child.

Better to speak and research with your spouse rather than ask a bunch of strangers. Especially ones who are speaking about your spouse in a negative 2ay.

MeetMeOnTheCorner · Yesterday 23:36

@OpenHazelEagle Really? Her spouse has dangerous ideas! He should be called out! He’s an idiot. How did we get to this ludicrous position where people still believe this utter rubbish? The op can believe the majority him here. It’s vital to have vaccinations to ensure all dc are protected. When we did we lose the understanding required to know this?
