I can see why everyone gets anxious when symptoms start to fade šŸ˜… I'm actually not completely exhausted at 10pm, and I'm slightly panicked as to why not. But maybe the nap i had this afternoon helped šŸ˜…

@Bomatoes I haven't felt comfortable in jeans since about 5 and a half weeks šŸ˜… I really like clothes from lucy and yak, so I've been living in slightly oversized Alexas (super comfortable waistband) and dungarees. I need to buy some more, now that payday finally arrived.

Gosh, a 4 hour meeting. Best of luck!

Desperatelyseekingme · 26/04/2026 22:29

Thanks everyone nice to hear different perspectives @Ncl31 that is my thought too, anything can happen at anytime, although 12 weeks lowers risk there are other things that can happen later so can't totally shield him. I think I'm leaning more towards telling that not if everything is ok on Thursday šŸ¤žxx

Ncl31 · 27/04/2026 07:41

@Desperatelyseekingme did you say you had another scan on Thursday? 9 weeks?
my scan is next Thursday - I’ll be 9+2… praying that everything is okay

@DesperatelyseekingmeI think after two promising scans and you having known for around a month, absolutely a good time to tell him. To make up for him not having been in on the secret before now, I think I’d emphasise that this information stays in your family unit for now. So he’s part of the ā€˜secret’ And trusted with this quite private info.

Personally I am quite open, many friends and family are aware of my history so if I see a friend I am open with them. If someone doesn’t have the back story I’m less likely as I don’t always want to explain why I’m not grinning from ear to ear. People generally congratulate you (@Bomatoesmum being an exception!) and that feels a bit weird still to me when it’s so fragile. But I am Feeling so more confident since passing 8 weeks and having had 3 good scans.

Hope work goes well today @Bomatoes!

My bloating is off the charts, I look like Father Christmas, but yesterday I checked the effects of cyclogest and it does say abdominal distension so I feel better now I know it’s likely to ease off when I finish the pessaries. By then I’ll have a pregnancy bump but I’d be happy to have that!

Still no blood test results so still away from my daughter whose spots have nearly all crusted over now. I might end up going home before the results arrive. We miss each other so much, it’s been totally heartbreaking. I hope she is too young to remember it.

8+4 today ā˜ŗļø

Told my mum our news today and wish I hadn't bothered. All she said was "are you mad?" and "does DH know?"... Funnily enough, he does 🤣
That was it! After 4+ years on secondary infertility, what a gut punch.
There was absolutely no need for the cold reaction, she has never been asked (or offered) to babysit our eldest, we're not financially reliable on her... I'm a 35 year old, married, homeowner with a daughter who is thriving. Her reaction was so bizarre!!

It's put me off telling anybody else now until the 12 week scan... Although can't imagine anyone could have a worse reaction šŸ™ˆ

Oh Im so sorry. CONGRATULATIONS and your amazing.

Alwaysgrowing · 27/04/2026 09:29

@Hollyhock. That sounds so tough. I my daughter got chickenpox at around this stage in my sons pregnancy. I wasn't worried because I was sure I was immune. I'd had chicken pox as a child, plus worked in a nursery where I didn't catch it when it was going around. Someone was concerned for me and told me to tell my midwife, but I hadn't been assigned one yet! I'm glad it's now part of the vaccine program.

rach971 · 27/04/2026 09:36

We're not telling anyone until after the 12 week scan when things are at least a bit more 'safe'. I'm still struggling with the first trimester anxiety, on and off symptoms, and having days of being convinced something is wrong (like today). It's around a couple of weeks until I have another scan as well

howluckyarewe · 27/04/2026 10:48

Went for an early 6 week scan this AM due to severe cramping, and saw a flicker of a heartbeat. ā¤ļø Baby is measuring a few days behind though, which gives me pause as my boys were always monsters measuring ahead from day one. Back for another scan in 2 weeks!

tiutinkerbell · 27/04/2026 11:12

Doctors weren't happy with my initial HCG blood test results last week, so back for more today and Wednesday to confirm if they are rising appropriately. I had a placement scan last Friday which showed the gestational sac in the right place and measuring a day ahead. Hard to manage all the anxiety that comes with this stage in pregnancy.

JesseMumsnet · 27/04/2026 11:20

Hey everyone,

On a related note - we're testing a new idea at Mumsnet and would love your input. It's a feature that helps expecting parents get all the support they need, feel more prepared for birth and have contact with a midwife 24/7 to ask any questions you want. Still very early days so hoping to chat to a few of you to see if you'd find it useful.

If you'd be up for a short chat, there's a £20 amazon voucher in it for you and you'd be genuinely helping us shape a super useful product. Sign up here: LINK.

Either way, best of luck x

5w2d and the nausea has hit! My boobs have doubled in size also! Had to start eating breakfast (don’t usually have it just a coffee) which is helping slightly. Hoping it doesn’t turn into full blown sickness, I had HG with my first baby and it was absolute hell spent most of the pregnancy in hospital.

Moominmamato3 · 27/04/2026 13:15

I was planning on holding off until 12 week scan to tell people but the bloating is giving me a definite bump so not sure if I will be able to hide it for another 4 weeks.

Im not looking forward to telling my mum as I know it will result in a lecture and a telling off šŸ˜‚.

I’m more nervous about telling family this time as it’s baby number 4!! But they did know we were trying as had an early miscarriage earlier this year which I had to go in for an appt for so we had to tell them as we needed childcare šŸ˜‚

SunshineRose12 · 27/04/2026 14:38

So far we’ve only told parents. It’s our first baby and it’s taken us a long time to conceive, so it’s brought a lot of happiness. Three out of the four grandparents cried when we told them. My MIL just kept saying thank you. So we’re really feeling the love, but it has made me a little more anxious as I know there are lots of people who will be really upset if I lose this pregnancy.

There should be a little side support group for terrible announcement reactions šŸ™ˆ Good luck! Just nod and look as bored as possible if she starts lecturing.

The bloat is definitely giving the game away, my 5yo is on to me! She stroked my tummy yesterday and went "aw, fat tummy mummy." savage šŸ˜‚

Alwaysgrowing · 27/04/2026 18:13

We told my parents yesterday. They smiled and said congratulations. My dad looked more happy. After, my DH said their reactions were quite muted, and asked if I've had any follow up messages. But that's how my family communicate, not very much. I don't think I'd cope well with a relative crying and thanking me for being pregnant. That feels weird. Also it's our 3rd child and coincides with my sister adopting

hollyhocks2 · 27/04/2026 22:40

@Alwaysgrowing agreed, soo good about the vaccine. I got my result this afternoon, immune ā˜ŗļø rushed home and cuddled my precious girl. She’s been so brave. So you weren’t surprised by your parents’ reactions? Fascinating how different everyone is with what they appreciate or don’t. Bit of a minefield. @SunshineRose12
That does sound like extra pressure you don’t need, but love how happy they are.

@howluckyarewe not totally reassuring, I get it, but honestly that is a good result ā¤ļø tiny margins at this point, so hard to be accurate. @tiutinkerbell an anxious wait for you too, everything crossed for you in the coming days.

Kate543 · 28/04/2026 06:29

Hey all, have been so busy and totally mia but there hasn’t been much to update on this end still chugging a long still crazy hungry and constantly half asleep.
it looks like there’s been a few early scans… I didn’t think I would do one this time but starting to get tempted…. When is everyone getting them? Thinking on Saturday I would be 8 weeks

Desperatelyseekingme · 28/04/2026 07:22

@Ncl31 yes I am due another scan now on Thursday and if all okay should be 9+2. Is yours then next Thursday?
@hollyhocks2 i think you are right, I normally wouldn't be considering telling but hopefully if all is ok on Thursday the 2 scans would reassure me a bit.
looks like I am not going to get my "12 week" scan til about 14 or 15 weeks, my booking in isn't until I am nearly 13 weeks! So I think I'm just going to see what Thursday brings and see x

SunshineRose12 · 28/04/2026 07:51

@Desperatelyseekingme Gosh that’s very late. I thought there were blood tests that you were meant to have before 10 weeks?

I’ve heard noting about my appointments yet either though. I’m only 6 weeks today, but I would still like to have them in the diary!

Desperatelyseekingme · 28/04/2026 08:57

@SunshineRose12 I'm honestly not sure, I'm going to ask at my appointment on Thursday with EPAU, they have been really good so hoping the will be able to tell me if it'll be ok or maybe speak to someone to change for me if needed x

edited to say I should have said I'm in Northern Ireland and I'm not sure our screening programme is the same as in England so maybe why the 10 weeks isn't a thing here?

tiutinkerbell · 28/04/2026 09:18

Had more bloods yesterday and my HCG is up to 14,789 at 5+4 so doctors are now happy with that. Decided to tell my Dad last night and he was absolutely thrilled! Super nice to share with someone after all the anxiety.

Desperatelyseekingme · 28/04/2026 09:25

Brilliant @tiutinkerbell congratulations x

PhoenixSTL · 28/04/2026 09:36

@tiutinkerbell that's great news, congrats!

PhoenixSTL · 28/04/2026 10:01

I'm 8+4 today, and just wondering if people have noticed their symptoms starting to ease up at this point? I honestly can't remember from my first pregnancy, but I know that my symptoms all seemed to disappear from 6 weeks with my miscarriage. My partner is reassuring me that my symptoms and their severity changed a lot during my first pregnancy.

Feeling like my nausea has eased up a lot. Fatigue has also improved - I've not been completely flat out by 10pm the last few nights. Still a touch light headed, but not as bad as it has been. Still needing to pee every hour...
