Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
jeanjeannie · 05/08/2008 13:27

Afternoon girls. All good today thanks mrsboogie Don't miss that ligament pain at all !

Oooo hedgepig you could be pushing this LO out....how exciting!

Johnworf that's it....brilliant idea.....Nappy Sander....literally I shall be giving Iris sand for tea tonight - then getting on with my money making scheme in the morning. I shall phone QVC straight away - I reckon the DIY trade will love 'em! Or maybe it's more yer JML product. Oh I love JML stuff- it's a hoot. I have a rubber brush - it's marvellous. You can comb a cat bald in seconds

Yes, very depressed by Phil & Teds small cocoon - saw a friend today and she has one and she thinks Verity is just long as her DS is fine in his Also - should a 9 week old be able to roll over - both ways ...my own can....eek!! I thought I had ages to wait...

johnworf · 05/08/2008 13:35

jeanjeannie how did you find out that Verity could roll both ways? Was it perchance when you heard a thud from the baby changing table and found her in a heap on the floor?????

I also have the rubber brush. It seems to hunt down micro crumbs at 20 paces. Can't claim to have been seduced by marketing though as we found it in a cupboard when we moved into this house. Don't JML make items that revolutionise your life? Shown usually in ASDA on a tv at end of aisle with a shouty man (think Brian Blessed) doing voiceover? I do remember walking past and asking DH if 'he'd like dryer balls'? They sell them! Honest they do! Nope, not hubbies with dry genitalia but balls for your tumble dryer

mrsboogie I thoroughly recommend a TENS machine. Dirt cheap these days in say....for example Lloyds Pharmacy

jeanjeannie · 05/08/2008 13:50

DRYER BALLS!!! I have them....they're great Honest guv...! They smash your towels up a treat....and stop me having to bash the washing with stones in the local stream

Mmmm...funny you should mention changing tables - i was just about to put her on it when I noticed se was now on her tummy under the playgym

mrsboogie · 05/08/2008 13:52

really jw? for ligament pain? I didn't know that. Didn't even know they were allowed in pregnancy...will investigate.

jeanjeanie - please tell me more about this rubber cat brush - we have two cats and they leave a film of shed fur all over the place - its horrendous. I am forever opening the fridge and finding cat hairs in food the cats haven't been in there - the hairs just float in.

just another one of those things one has to try not to think about too much for fear of chucking up..

jeanjeannie · 05/08/2008 15:49

mrsboogie - well it's literally a big, fat comb - with a row of double teeth - and it's made from rubber. It's amazing at getting off our cat hairs from fabric. And, a quick whip over the cat herself (which she's not overly fond of but tolerates it cos it's the only chance of a pet she gets at the mo!) and all the stray hairs come off.

I always said if I had a cat, it'd be sleek and tiger-like....but drunk at a party one eve I said I'd have one of the host's kittens....and I couldn't go back on my word! Anyway, Bob (the cat - and she's a girl but I found that out after I named her) is the feline equivalent of a Border Collie...nowt like a tiger at all

johnworf · 05/08/2008 15:53

Mental note to self: invite jeanjeannie to one of her xmas soirees, give her oodles of egg nog and palm her dog off onto her when inebriated

What a plan!

johnworf · 05/08/2008 15:59

mrsboogie I'd ask before using a TENS machine. I know that you shouldn't use it over your uterus during pregnancy but I think you can use it on the nerves down your legs or on your back for the sciatic nerves.

Check first though

Kaz1967 · 05/08/2008 18:30

Had Kezzy weighed for the first time in 2 weeks and she has put on over 1lb she is now 7lb 15 1/2oz thought she was bigger she has certainly been feeding for England including 2 nights of up every 2 hours I hope that was just a growth spurt and will stop she was going 4+ over night

OP posts:
Kaz1967 · 05/08/2008 18:46

mrsboogie I used a small 10's machine in pregnancy on my back not often but when nothing else worked. There is a risk it may start off labour so you need to take advice about using one.

OP posts:
jeanjeannie · 05/08/2008 18:53

kaz...yep, sounds familiar. Verity was going 4+ hours....even made 7 hours once (although that was the night my boobs literally exploded!) And now, this last week - every 2 hours...and in some cases not going back to sleep at all They're monkeys...the pair of them
johnworf....An egg nog...oh you could palm me off with a donkey after one of those

Iris has eaten sooo much pasta I think she may have Italian tendancies. Can children live off pasta..? Mmm, no, thought not...shame - solve all her fussy food moments

Kaz1967 · 05/08/2008 18:54

johnworf K in a hot cot?

OP posts:
johnworf · 05/08/2008 20:43

Yep kaz1867 She's on a Kanmed (sp?) but it's coming out tomorrow as she's doing ok on keeping her temp regulated. I take it that's what you mean and not a cot that's like a hot desk which she shares with other babies that are passing through?

They've given up on CPAP now as K just pulls it off her face on the odd time she's had it of late (I think during last night) so it's been wheeled away today

Little by little, hopefully we're getting there.

Well done on the weight gain kezzie All the guzzling is paying off it seems.

Nay, Nay and thrice Nay jeanjeannie Small children can not live by pasta alone....chocolate, sweets, coke and crisps, yes.

hedgepig · 05/08/2008 20:47

can you not Hoover cats surely that will get most of the loose hair off. (can you tell I'm not really a pet sort of person - too much responsibility for me).

JJ I have just been mooching through the "bleach during pregnancy" thread; the current hottest thread on pregnancy (which is about anal bleaching I must have lead a sheltered life - never heard of it) I wonder if you want to add a comment regrading the use of sand for anal micro-abrasion?????? 9 weeks is early for rolling but Ben had his feet over the side of the changing cupboard at about 4-5 weeks so I think there are more active babies than others.

mrsboogie · 05/08/2008 21:16

haha I saw that thread about bleaching and innocently thought it was some poor soul who couldn't stand the smell of bleach or something. Am I to believe that people do this for cosmetic purposes before giving birth? that would be the most staggeringly pointless thing i have ever heard in my entire life.

Told the OH about K practically shitting herself inside out the other day jw - he thought it was most impressive, glad he feels that way....

Righto - back later - just off to hoover the moggies

hedgepig · 05/08/2008 21:24

must admit i was laughing so much I didn't get to the bottom of why - ha ha ha bottom getit?? I even confused DH who has a much (how shall we put it)..... boarder mind than I

I think cat hoovering could catch on, maybe they will need little ear plugs but we set a business up selling them and be in the money hurrah.

mrsboogie · 05/08/2008 21:39

yes! I can see us on Dragon's Den beating away the offers with a stick for our fabulously innovative Pussy Hoovers!! No, wait. ahem. the name may need some work...

hedgepig · 05/08/2008 21:41

LOL Mrsb - must go to bed night night

johnworf · 06/08/2008 07:55

Anal abrasion and pussy hoovers??? Seems I've been away far too long! Excuse me for scoring a 10/10 on the naivetyometer but how do you bleach your arse? And furthermore, why would you want to?

mrsboogie so glad your OH was impressed with Katherine's ability to expel her own bodily fluids. I'll let her know I think she was very impressed with herself on the QT.

She's tipping scales at 4lb 1/2oz today

jeanjeannie · 06/08/2008 08:33

Bleaching your bum???!!! I thought that was something only gay men did? I know the Immac their bums...cos I've had to go and buy it for my mate so he could do his. But why would you want to bleach it before giving birth? Seems to me, after the mess of pushing out a baby - you'd want to do it afterwards

Pussy hoovers - no, I like it - lets run with it.....*run's to phone..."Mr Ballantyne, yes we have a wonderful idea...do you like cats but hate the hair? " !!

johnworf bloomin 'eck - that's fab weight gain - she's now more than Iris was at that age.

Another day where I'm not sure what to do with the monkeys. No mother and toddler groups in High Wycombe...well, not over the hols and it's gonna chuck it down - and I don't fancy cruising along with two damp kiddies Perhaps I'll make things out of cardboard boxes and let Iris play with the exposed wiring....

johnworf · 06/08/2008 09:33

jeanjeannie mine used to like bouncing on mummy's bed...until they bounced off it and a 4 hour stint in casualty ensued

Alternatively, join the chavs at the local wacky warehouse. You can have several Bacardi Breezers/snake bites whilst the kiddies play/fight/thieve.

mrsboogie · 06/08/2008 12:34

hello all

it's so muggy - I can't bear it

and I wish the bbc would stop showing those horrible pics of pests infesting the NHS hospitals

miserably yours,

me

hedgepig · 06/08/2008 15:27

JW what a splendid idea a play thingy that serves alcohol. Only tea/coffee/juice etcs at our local one. What a big girl K is growing into.
It is very muggy here too ugggg
having a skivvy day today supposed to be working form home but just can't get myself into gear to do thinking (unfortunately i still have to think). I popped to the shops in mother care and nearly cried looking at babygrows, I think I am going do lally. Couldn't bring myself to buy any in case it was bad luck.
JJ hope you found something to do, boxes are such fun

mrsboogie · 06/08/2008 15:39

haha hedgepig that was my first thought too - drinkies for mummy while the children play nicely, perfect! what a spiffing sounding set up.

ooooh babyclothes - I am scared to even venture into mothercare let alone buy anything. can't look at them. Took all my nerve to look at the amby hammock on the internet. Have not bought one single thing and I am 34 weeks tomorrow. I am a rational person normally and of course I know can buy all the baby clothes and prams and things in the world and I know it won't affect the outcome of my pregnancy but I still can't do it!!

Its a bit like - as long as there's no baby stuff in the house I can keep up the illusion that its still only a "potential" baby. If I buy the stuff then it becomes a real baby and something will go wrong. Daft I know.

johnworf · 06/08/2008 15:51

mrsboogie nah, I follow your logic. I still haven't plucked up the courage to pick up Katherine's pram from the shop yet. They rang over 3 weeks ago to tell us it was there.

Mind you, she's already here so dunno what I'm fretting over.....

hedgepig · 06/08/2008 16:04

sorry JW I had to LOL at your comment I had visions of an UFO over the hosp beaming her up! But seriously she has had such a eventful start that I understand about the pram; anyway why clutter up your house when the shop can keep it a few more weeks!
MrsB - I have a loft full of stuff from Ben so I don't even need baby grows etc so why am I looking ?? I did buy a car seat yesterday cos I though it was important to have one but that is it.
